I Only Raised Men for Revenge - Chapter 6
Just like she killed me with that beautiful face, just like she drove my younger sibling to the brink with that innocent expression…
‘I have to give you and them hell. That’s the only way I’ll feel less wronged.’
Sesenia, fiddling with the necklace around her neck, tried to calm herself and quickened her pace.
“Let’s go to Father quickly. You know he hates being kept waiting.”
“Even if we’re late, I can just use some charm on Father. Men always fall for that.”
Elzer was always like this. Even if she did something wrong, she could just use her charm and men would fall for it. No man could resist it.
‘I bet that’s how she seduced the Emperor.’
“Really?”
“Sesenia, you’re hopeless when it comes to charm. Why do you make life so difficult? This way, everyone moves according to my will.”
“Sister.”
“Yes?”
“I hate it when you try to gloss over everything like that. I hate that you try to smooth everything over like that. Don’t think that everyone moves according to your will.”
Sesenia’s instinct, which she couldn’t suppress, burst out.
‘I know very well that this person isn’t that person. This might just be me being difficult about what I went through. But my heart keeps twisting.’
In the end, Sesenia regretted what she said and quickly tried to change the subject. But Elzer clicked her tongue with a disgusted expression.
“Sorry, I misspoke.”
“That’s why you’re not popular.”
“Huh?”
“If you live like that, no one will want to marry you. You’re my sister, but you have such a boring life. Be careful. Right now, His Highness the Crown Prince is trying to maintain the engagement to keep ties with our family but he might get tired of your attitude and break off the engagement.”
Sesenia realized it now. Her sister was openly looking down on her. Not just the woman she experienced, but Elzer had been ignoring her since she was very young.
Sesenia, who had thought it was just another way of expressing love, was now even starting to doubt. Could this woman be the same woman who killed Sesenia?
‘So, her true nature was like this all along. Really… she’s just creating a situation where it’s easy for me to get my revenge. Sister.’
The corners of Sesenia’s lips twisted slightly. Her face was unusually cold.
“I think my life is interesting enough.”
“What?”
“My life, I mean. I think it’s interesting enough.”
Elzer’s face hardened, perhaps because she didn’t like Sesenia contradicting her as she usually did.
“Sesenia, you’re being unusually assertive today. It’s like you’re a different person.”
“Don’t be silly. I’m just saying what I want to say. Now, let’s go to Father quickly.”
Elzer bit her lip, seemingly annoyed that Sesenia wasn’t following her lead. Instead, Elzer let go of Sesenia’s arm and quickly headed towards their father’s room.
In Sesenia’s memory, her sister was a kind and good person. Someone who would do anything for Sesenia. But now she realized that her memory was quite flawed.
How could anyone possibly see that person as a good person? Or could it be that the Elzer of the past and the present are different?
Sesenia stared at Elzer, who was walking ahead.
“Young lady, aren’t you coming?”
It was Lizbeth who urged Sesenia. Lizbeth, who was standing a step behind with an uneasy expression, urged her on.
“Ah… I have to go.”
“Don’t take Elzer’s words to heart too much. She’s the type who always has to have things her way.”
“Is that so?”
Sesenia’s gaze naturally turned to Lizbeth.
“When things go her way, she’s the kindest person, but when things don’t go her way, she can be very harsh. Don’t be too upset.”
“Okay.”
Only then did Sesenia remember. Only after hearing Lizbeth’s words did she realize why Elzer was remembered as such a good person in her memory. Sesenia was a good younger sister who listened to Elzer very well, so there was hardly any conflict between them.
Sesenia especially liked her sister. After their mother passed away when she was young, Elzer was a mother, a sister, a friend, and the most trusted person to Sesenia.
‘But in reality, that wasn’t the case.’
That was a little funny. Come to think of it, Elzer had thrown tantrums at the servants a few times. Because the dress she wanted to wear wasn’t ready, or because the tea she wanted wasn’t available, or for other trivial reasons.
Suddenly, that memory came to mind.
‘Sister, you weren’t exactly a good person either. An angel, my foot.’
If her true nature had really been angelic, if the image that people knew was her truth, she wouldn’t have been so shameless as to kill her own sister to achieve her goals.
Sesenia, clicking her tongue at the unexpectedly interesting situation, started walking again.
‘Well, I’m going to become like a devil now anyway. How nice. Sisters with ruined personalities.’
“How fun.”
“Pardon?”
Lizbeth, who was next to her, looked at Sesenia with surprised eyes.
“It’s nothing. Let’s go quickly.”
Sesenia decided to wear a mask.
To appear as Sesenia at 20 years old, not the 25-year-old version of herself who had seen and experienced all sorts of things and was jaded by the world, she hypnotized herself over and over again.
‘I am 20 years old.’

“Father, I apologize for being late.”
Elzer, who had entered the Marquis’s room first, stuck close to the Marquis’s side and smiled as she looked at Sesenia, who had arrived late.
“You should come early. How can you make your father wait?”
“Yes, Sesenia. Try to be on time from now on. Try to be more like your sister.”
“Yes.”
“Anyway, now that you’re all here, there’s something I want to talk about. You two are my only children, so I’m considering who to pass the family down to. Now that Sesenia has come of age.”
So, it was today.
“Originally, I thought it would be right to give it to your sister. After all, Elzer is the eldest daughter. That’s okay, right, Sesenia?”
It must have been at this time that Sesenia spoke her mind according to her beliefs.
‘But if I act like I did in the past in this situation, there’s a risk of being killed by Elzer again. In the end, Elzer’s head is filled with the idea that the family belongs to her. Then there’s no need for me to save that family. All I need is ‘my own thing.’ What happens to the family has nothing to do with me.’
Sesenia’s gaze turned to Elzer, who was sitting on the armrest next to the Marquis and leaning close to her father.
Sesenia’s hardened face brightened.
“That’s right. It’s right to give it to my sister.”
In the past, Sesenia would have said in this place that she wanted to take over the family. But the Marquis was firm. How could you, who has just come of age, take over the Marquisate? The Marquis had only called Sesenia to this place to inform her.
To give everything to Elzer, the favored child.
The reason Sesenia was able to take over the Marquisate was not because she spoke her mind in this place. It was because she had rebuilt the Marquisate, which was just a hollow shell. A family with money, but constantly spending like a bottomless pit.
Even then, the Marquis, their father, tried to give what she had saved to Elzer, but Elzer hated troublesome things and passed the family on to her younger sister.
‘And then, when the family became quite prosperous, she said it was hers and talked nonsense.’
Sesenia, recalling Elzer who had expressed her feelings without reservation in prison just before she died, slowly nodded her head.
‘Go ahead and take it and do whatever you want. I won’t be rebuilding this family like I did in the past.’
“Huh? Th-that’s right, Sesenia. Now that you’ve come of age, it seems like you’ve finally come to your senses. You’ve been quite greedy for this position for a while now.”
“I know my place. You can pass the family on to my sister. That’s the right thing to do.”
In the past, Elzer struggled with the Marquisate that her father had entrusted to her. So, she left everything to Sesenia and was busy going out and having fun.
“Okay. Then let’s wrap it up like that. Elzer, is that okay?”
“Yes! If that’s Father’s wish, I’ll do my best!”
The Marquis’s face was filled with a smile at the sight of her tilting her head slightly and smiling sweetly.
The Marquis had never been fair to Sesenia and her sister Elzer.
‘You’re still the same as ever, Father.’
The two sisters had very different impressions, like black and white. Sesenia, with her black hair and red eyes, resembled the Marquis, while her sister Elzer had brown hair and watery purple eyes.
Elzer was the spitting image of the Marquis’s wife, who had given birth to two daughters.
For the Marquis, the deceased Marquis’s wife was his first and last love. So he favored Elzer, who looked just like her mother. In addition, Elzer had been sickly since she was young, so the Marquis was at a loss whenever he saw Elzer.
Knowing that, Sesenia overcame the hardships with just one word from her father… ‘I believe in you.’
She dismissed it as not being favored, but that her father was just paying a little more attention to her sister because she wasn’t feeling well. Because she knew she would become too miserable if she didn’t think that way. Sesenia had to defend herself that way.
The reason she didn’t show her emotions, the reason she didn’t trust anyone except Ian and Lizbeth, who had been her friends since childhood, was all because of the Marquis. She had to be strong. That was the only way she could receive a penny’s worth of love from her father.
In the meantime, it seemed like their own world had been created between Elzer and the Marquis.
“Okay, okay. Your father will help as much as possible, so try to manage it.”
“Yes!”
Sesenia watched the two people smiling as if they were lost in their own world, and then intervened at the right time.
“Instead, I have a request.”
