I Only Raised Men for Revenge - Chapter 2
Sesenia’s expression changed little by little. There was no sadness or hatred. Any expectation or affection for her family became meaningless emotions to Sesenia.
“No. I… I didn’t discriminate.
She didn’t give any answer. Sesenia, exhausted enough to let go of everything, ignored her father’s call and left the spot.
That’s how things seemed to be wrapping up. Elzer was imprisoned in the north, where only winter existed, for the reason that she had an affair with the Emperor, who was her younger sister’s husband.
In the meantime, the rumors changed subtly. Elzer Bestel, the Empress’s sister, had seduced the Emperor. The Emperor was not at fault at all.
Sesenia didn’t mention it anymore. It was obvious who had started the rumor, but she didn’t show any reaction.
Rather, her world seemed to be changing. The Emperor was quite anxious, fearing that he would be harmed, that his reputation would plummet the moment he divorced Sesenia, and that his position as Emperor would be shaken if she went public with it properly.
Perhaps it was because he knew that the Empress, who had never done anything even when he had affairs, could cause trouble, he took care of Sesenia very diligently.
Sesenia didn’t do anything special because she knew that he was afraid of losing her family’s powerful wealth. The shock didn’t disappear even after several months. In a world where she had no one on her side, she lived day by day like that.
But 9 months later,
Sesenia had to hear desperate news.
No, her sister returned with desperate news. With a very small baby in her arms.
“Ha…”
Where did it go wrong? What should she have done?
The problem wasn’t her sister returning with the baby. The Emperor, who was introducing Elzer and Elzer’s child to Sesenia, suddenly changed.
The Emperor, her husband, ordered her execution.
“Empress Sesenia is sentenced to death for trying to kill the Emperor’s seed.”
She had no sense of reality. She didn’t know why she had to die. Why her husband was ordering her execution. Sesenia shook her head in absurdity.
“I never did that. Me, trying to kill the Emperor’s seed.”
After 9 months, the situation from that time was deja vu.
The Emperor was standing next to Elzer, looking at the baby with a happy expression. At the same time, he couldn’t stand Sesenia’s rebuttal and burst into anger.
The past time was repeating itself again. He, who had been watching her and doing his best for her, had already disappeared.
“Denying it! Even though you knew she was pregnant, you didn’t give her any support!”
“That’s…”
Sesenia shook her head.
No. Everything was wrong. Ian was supposed to take care of everything about her sister. Sesenia had an affair with her husband, her sister, a sister she wanted to strangle, but she still showed such mercy because she was family.
Because she was alive, she gave her food, sent her necessary things, and even told her to tell her if anything happened. But, but she didn’t give her any support. She didn’t do anything.
While Sesenia was shaking her head in absurdity, the Emperor opened his mouth.
“To make matters worse, there is testimony that she ignored the letter that she was giving birth alone and even tried to kill the baby after she gave birth alone.”
“Who is giving such testimony? Ah, is my sister saying that? That I did those things? Of course, my sister would say that. Because I sent her there. Because I sent her to that place!”
Sesenia looked at her sister. At her, holding the baby and making a happy expression. But the situation was a bit strange. Her sister, Elzer, raised her chin and smirked.
She felt a little strange, but she had to defend herself.
“Ian will prove that I didn’t do anything.”
“Prince Ian?”
“Yes. All those words about me now are just words my sister said to put me in a corner. They’re all lies.”
She couldn’t understand it. The Emperor was scolding her just by listening to Elzer’s words.
‘Well, she’s the one who even had his child. He can’t be on my side. He’s been watching me lately, he must want to get rid of me, but I… I never did that. Ian will prove me right.’
“Interesting. You don’t think I’m doing this just based on Elzer’s testimony, do you? Sesenia.”
“Is there someone else?”
“Yes. There was Prince Ian’s testimony. He said you acted very viciously.”
“What? Ian testified like that?”
“Yes. He testified to all the bad things you did. Even that you tried to kill the baby.”
That’s when it was. As if to announce that it was time for him to appear, Ian came inside. He seemed to look at Sesenia, who was being treated like a criminal and had her arms tied, but he patted Elzer’s shoulder.
Sesenia’s eyes shook at the unexpected situation.
“Why Ian, why are you there? My sister? Why?”
But Ian didn’t say anything. He just smirked.
“I clearly said it. I… I…”
“You hated her more than anyone else.”
“What…?”
“The Marquis, your father, asked you to forgive Elzer at all costs, but you even kicked her out with harsh words.”
“No. That’s not true…!”
She had no power. She had no attachment to life. There was no way she would have said harsh words to her father. But Ian exaggerated or changed what she said to put her in a corner.
“How is it, Ian? My brother. The Empress said that you would clear her name.”
“Does the Empress have anything to be wronged about? She used me, her friend, to do things she didn’t want to do.”
He was like a different person. She thought he was the only friend left in the world, but he wasn’t. She thought he would be on her side in any case, but everything was Sesenia’s miscalculation.
“This doesn’t make sense. I’m wronged. I’m wronged. I didn’t like my sister, but I still told her to support her. I never received a letter.”
All Sesenia could do was complain to the Emperor.
“What are you so wronged about, Empress? Then bring the evidence yourself. According to your words, there must be supported items or letters exchanged.”
The Emperor, who was speaking coldly, showed her mercy, not mercy, as if he was preparing for future problems. He told her to bring evidence. But Sesenia felt like her vision was darkening.
There was nothing. Nothing existed.
Because he was a friend, she didn’t need that. She just told Ian in words.
“Ah…”
Sesenia realized it then. That it was so easy to put a person in a corner.
“Ha… ha.”
“You must have something, Empress?”
She couldn’t do anything. No, she couldn’t say anything. She was a fool for trusting people again after being hurt by them.
“Puhaha.”
At that sadness, at that absurdity, Sesenia suddenly burst into laughter.
“The Empress is crazy.”
“I don’t know why I bothered to live so hard if this is going to happen. Take me away. That’s what you want to do.”
“It’s like you’re saying I created this.”
If she were a normal person, she would have been dragged out complaining only about her injustice, but Sesenia laughed at the three people.
“You tried so hard to frame me. You’re the same human being.”
“Empress!”
“Otherwise, there’s no way you would know so much. Take me away. I don’t want to be in this position anyway.”
As if he didn’t want to be a bad person, the Emperor hesitated and nodded. That’s how Sesenia was dragged out.
Stupidly, she didn’t suspect anything. Not Ian, not Elzer, not the Emperor.
In the end, Sesenia was imprisoned.
The Emperor’s affair is not allowed. That’s why no one objected to sending Elzer to the north. But if she has the Emperor’s child, things are different.
And the one who had the Emperor’s child was none other than her sister, and because Sesenia sent the one who had the Emperor’s child into exile, and because Prince Ian testified, there was no way out.
She was waiting for death.
**
“The prison is quite livable, isn’t it?”
Ian was the first to visit Sesenia in prison.
“Ian…”
“You’re still good at making stupid faces. It’s a really unattractive expression.”
“What do you want to say? Ian.”
“I want to ask. It’s strange that you’re not curious about anything.”
“What should I ask? Do you want me to ask how your perfect betrayal was achieved? So, you want me to look at you and say you’re great? Should I clap for you? Our Ian is so great. And say it.”
That’s when Ian’s expression hardened.
“That’s why I hated you so much.”
“If you hated me, why were you next to me?”
There was silence for a moment.
While being here, or after learning that Ian, the only friend she trusted, had betrayed her, Sesenia had many thoughts. Then she even thought that something might be wrong.
Maybe Ian put her sister in a more difficult situation to help her. But that was impossible. Ian, standing in front of her and making a confident expression, was clearly not intending to do that.
Rather, he clicked his tongue at Sesenia.
“I love my sister.”
“You love my sister. That’s funny. That’s a funny excuse. You didn’t like my sister. You never showed your heart.”
“You’re really stupid. You think you’re very smart, but you’re so stupid that you can’t even say it. You’re not a dog in heat, so even if you run at her, she won’t like you.”
“That was the answer.”
