- I Need To Find A Way To Make Her Love Me Again
- Chapter 1 - Escaping the Tragic Heroine Plot
In the dimly lit, long corridor, a line of palace maids, their heads bowed, held wooden trays and toiletries. Their footsteps were light, falling silently one after another.
They walked into a dark room before stopping, bending down in unison with movements as neat and uniform as if they had been trained. Their bodies were lowered, the trays held high, as they stood in the room, waiting for the person behind the layers of soft gauze to wake.
The woman lying in a deep sleep on the bed had her eyes tightly closed. Her skin was as pale as jade, and there was no trace of color on her lips. She lay quietly, like a fragile piece of fine jade.
Suddenly, the woman fiercely opened her eyes. Her scattered pupils slowly focused. She looked at the carved beams and wooden channels above her head. After a brief moment of daze, a strong feeling of unfamiliarity surged over her.
The deafening sound of the explosion still seemed to echo in her ears. As her consciousness gradually cleared, Yan Xingyu’s eyebrows knitted together. Protecting a rotten old man to repay a debt to her boss was one thing.
But for this old man to still attend the meeting, knowing full well the other party meant harm wasn’t that just pure suicide?
She recalled the moment the fire exploded, she desperately got the man out, and the last image left for her was nothing but rolling dust and smoke. After that, she knew nothing.
Yan Xingyu saw that she could still wake up, which meant she hadn’t died. It seemed her boss had sent someone to save her, but what was this wooden board above her head?
She turned her head and saw a room filled with an ancient, traditional aroma, and a group of people standing bowed before her, as if awaiting her instructions.
Yan Xingyu wondered what was going on.
Seeing the abnormal silence, she thought, “Are they playing cosplay?”
Full of confusion, she got up and looked down to see herself also wearing soft, white, unlined garments. Why was she dressed in such an antique manner? Who changed her clothes?
Her boss? She didn’t seem like the kind of woman with such leisure. So, who saved her?
As thoughts churned in her mind, a delicate, childlike voice suddenly rang out beside her ear, like a little girl speaking to her.
“Master, you are finally awake.”
Yan Xingyu only heard the voice but couldn’t see the person. She looked left and right, but saw no little girl in the room. She asked aloud, “Who are you? Where are you?”
Just as the words fell, she saw a faint light emitting from her wrist. A small silver snake appeared on her hand, twisting its body, climbing onto her fingertip, and meeting her eyes.
The scene was momentarily too fantastical, causing Yan Xingyu’s eyes to widen with disbelief.
“Master, why have you forgotten me this time? I’m Little Silver!”
What the hell was this? She wasn’t dreaming, was she?
Yan Xingyu was instantly thrown into mental chaos. She must be dreaming, right? How could a snake talk?
Suspiciously, she reached out and pinched the snake’s ‘three inches’ (a vital spot), picking up its entire body and shaking it back and forth. The distinct sensation of smooth, cold scales in her hand made her suddenly feel lost and confused.
As if still unconvinced, she used both hands, constantly tugging at the little snake’s body until she heard it yelping.
“Master, what are you doing! Put me down!”
Yan Xingyu finally confirmed that she was not dreaming. She put the little snake oh, Little Silver down, and the expression on her face instantly became strange.
Even though she didn’t want to admit it, the scene before her couldn’t be explained by science. If she wasn’t dreaming, only one possibility remained: she had transmigrated.
So, had she died and come to another mystical world?
Yan Xingyu suddenly felt an indescribable emotion in her heart, yet she also felt she had no attachments. Since she was already dead, she didn’t need to repay the favor she owed her boss anymore.
Thinking of this, she smiled faintly. It was good not to live a life on the edge. Yan Xingyu was skilled at self-comfort, quickly accepting the current situation and even feeling a bit more relaxed. Living anywhere was the same for her.
She opened her mouth, following Little Silver’s cue, and said, “Yes, I have amnesia. Who am I, and where is this? Explain it to me.”
Although she had been manhandled, Little Silver had no complaints. It swam back to her, climbed onto her shoulder, and said, “Master, we are in the Nine Profound Palace. Your name is Yan Rou, and for the time being, you could be considered the mistress here. These people are all your palace maids.”
Yan Xingyu was slightly surprised to hear that she shared a surname with the original owner. However, if she was now in control of this body, based on her experience reading novels, the original owner must also be dead.
Looking at the line of people standing before her, with so many maids serving her, it seemed she was a person of status here.
However, Yan Xingyu lowered her eyes to look at Little Silver. This was not an ordinary world. The word “for the time being” caught her attention. She asked, “Why ‘for the time being’?”
Little Silver was about to organize its words to continue explaining to Yan Xingyu, but upon hearing footsteps approaching in the distance, it hurriedly hid back inside its master’s body.
Seeing Little Silver disappear and a coiled silver snake tattoo appear on her wrist, Yan Xingyu was confused about what had happened. Then, she heard a voice in her mind.
“Master, I am your Soul Companion, so we can communicate through thought.”
“The person coming right now is named Yi Rong. Master, you must be careful of her. Don’t fall into her trap again.”
Hearing the other party’s words, Yan Xingyu was utterly bewildered. She replied, “Can you tell me in more detail what exactly happened?”
“Master, you have been killed by her seven times already. Don’t be soft-hearted towards her again.”
Little Silver finally got to the point.
Yan Xingyu’s heart trembled upon hearing that the original owner had been killed seven times. She alertly looked towards the door. Regardless of what had happened before, she knew the person coming held malicious intent, and that was all that mattered.
Hearing the steps one deep, one shallow gradually approach, she looked up and saw the newcomer’s figure, straight as a pine, and a face as beautiful as jade. Their voice was as clear as a bell, echoing in the room.
“Rou’er, are you feeling better?”
Yan Xingyu looked at the smiling man, but she didn’t feel an ounce of genuine warmth in his smile. Her gaze couldn’t help but darken. She didn’t speak on the surface, but secretly questioned Little Silver.
“Why did he want to kill me before?”
“Master, there is a deep blood feud between you and Yi Rong, but she cannot kill you because you are immortal. So, she imprisoned you here in the Nine Profound Palace.”
“According to your preferences, she fabricated a perfect sweetheart for you. This man is a clone disguised by her. She constantly creates beautiful dreams for you, and then, at your happiest moment, she kills you.”
“Every time you die, Master, you briefly forget the painful memories from before and walk into her trap again.”
“Master, you have already died seven times. You absolutely must not be deceived by her this time.”
Hearing the helplessness in Little Silver’s tone, Yan Xingyu guessed that it must have warned the original owner hundreds of times before, but since she was appearing here, the original owner clearly hadn’t listened much.
Yan Xingyu was speechless internally. This ‘love-brain’ to be killed by a man seven times and still be in love it was utterly incomprehensible.
She asked again, “Okay, I understand. Then, how can I leave this place?”
This was the first time Little Silver had heard its Master talk about leaving. After a slight pause, it honestly replied, “By killing her.”
Yan Xingyu understood. A sharp glint flashed in her eyes. Thinking of the disgusting performance the other party was about to put on, she was in no mood to play this game with this fake person.
Since she knew the other party was up to no good, she had even less patience to deal with this false sincerity.
Seeing that she didn’t speak, the man took a big stride and sat on the edge of her bed, smiling as he gently said, “The wind was strong yesterday. I told you we should have come back earlier, but Rou’er was so obsessed with flying the kite. Coming back late, you caught a cold, and sure enough, you got a headache.”
With that, the man pulled her into his embrace, his mouth full of sweet words: “Rou’er, don’t be so mischievous next time. Seeing you suffer all night breaks my heart.”
Yan Xingyu’s forehead veins throbbed as she listened. Suppressing the urge to yell “Get lost,” she endured for a moment, silently scanning the surroundings, looking for any sharp objects, like a dagger, that could kill the other party.
Just as she thought this, an icy sensation instantly appeared in her hand. She lowered her eyes, secretly raised her arm, and saw a bulging shape beneath the wide sleeve.
It was actually a dagger. She glanced sideways, seeing that the person beside her hadn’t noticed. Yan Xingyu was inwardly astonished, feeling that fate was truly helping her.
At this moment, Little Silver spoke, “Master, why do you need a weapon? I can transform into any weapon you want.”
Yan Xingyu realized it was Little Silver’s doing. She hadn’t expected it to have this function a complete plot device! She had thought she had transmigrated into some tragic lady, but it seemed like she was definitely a true heroine. Thinking this, she had no more reservations.
The person beside her was still speaking, “Rou’er, are you still uncomfortable? I…”
The man’s rambling only annoyed Yan Xingyu, accelerating her actions. Without hesitation, she lifted her hand and forcefully thrust forward.
The seemingly affectionate and concerned words in her ear were abruptly cut short. The man felt a pain in his chest. His expression froze, and he slowly lowered his head, meeting a pair of cold, emotionless eyes. Sensing that something was wrong, and suddenly recalling something, his expression instantly became extremely ugly.
Taking advantage of the fact that the person hadn’t reacted, Yan Xingyu flipped over and got off the bed. She casually grabbed the blue robe from the screen and put it on, then fled outwards. However, for some unknown reason, the scene before her gradually began to twist.
Little Silver returned to her body, screaming in a panic, “Ahhh! Master, why did you kill her?!”
Yan Xingyu replied, “Didn’t you say killing him would let us leave?”
Little Silver was stunned. After recovering, it sighed, “That’s true, but I didn’t expect Master to act so quickly! Leaving now is very disadvantageous for us!”
A question mark popped up in Yan Xingyu’s mind, but she didn’t have time to ask Little Silver the reason. The events unfolding before her started to become overwhelming.
The maids who had been quietly standing bowed all suddenly raised their heads. Yan Xingyu heard the commotion behind her and turned around, only to see that all the maids were faceless. Yet, those featureless faces seemed to have sprouted eyes, staring deadly at her.
In an instant, a chill shot up her spine. Yan Xingyu sucked in a cold breath, twisted her head, and ran. A clattering sound erupted behind her. The maids dropped the wooden trays and chased after her, one after another, grabbing her long hair, pulling her long robe, and gripping her ankles, preventing her from moving.
Her scalp hurt intensely. Yan Xingyu was pulled and restrained, unable to move. Her vision, along with the potted flowers and corridors before her, twisted. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the maids crawling behind her gradually losing their human form. Although they had no mouths, voices constantly screamed in her ears.
“You can’t leave!”
“You can’t leave!!”
“You can’t leave!!!”
Yan Xingyu gritted her teeth. The thought of a knife flashed through her mind, and a silver blade instantly appeared in her hand. Without hesitation, she raised the knife and brought it down, chopping away all the inhuman, ghostly things wrapped around her.
In a flash, hair flew. Yan Xingyu felt the tension on her scalp ease. The moment she broke free from the restraint, she desperately ran forward, clearly seeing the scene before her dissipate like a bubble dream. This world felt so unreal, but the pain reminded her that she had come to a dangerous place.
She only dared to turn back and glance briefly after running a long distance.
Unexpectedly, the man was still clutching his chest in the same spot, staring intently at her. Although far away, she saw a storm gathering in his dark eyes, seemingly ready to strike her. But in the next second, the person vanished like the wind before her.
As the phantom scene dispersed, a massive human skeleton appeared before her, lying on a distant green mountain. The white bones were wrapped around and around with red ropes, startling and dazzling.
Yan Xingyu was about to ask Little Silver what this was when she heard the other party shout, “Master, run!”
“You absolutely must not be caught by the Red Spider, or you will also be skinned and have your bones extracted!”
The red spider clinging to the white bones in the distance seemed to hear their words and woke up. Immediately, the tightly bound ropes instantly loosened and flew into the air like ribbons no, they were rushing towards her in a dense swarm.
