Douglas, an Imperial General of commoner origins, spent three years fighting on the front lines. Returning in triumph, he thought his career had reached its peak and he could finally kick back and relax. Little did he know, the King would immediately force him into a career change, making a general abandon military life for civil service to build a school from scratch.
The King, with a solemn face: “General, times have changed. Fighting cannot save the people of the interstellar galaxy.” Douglas: “Do you think this is a game? You can just change classes whenever you want??”
Not only that, Douglas remembered just as he reached his front door that he still had a noble wife at home. The King hadn’t just managed his career; he had arranged his marriage as well. Although his wife was a blonde-haired, blue-eyed beauty, his personality was incredibly arrogant.
He acted as if his eyes were on top of his head, carried himself like a haughty swan, and was exceptionally high-maintenance. From their first meeting, he picked apart everything about Douglas, leaving the General utterly dissatisfied.
Douglas: “No way. I want a divorce!”
The “high-maintenance” wife was drugged without knowing it and ran over to pick a fight in a fit of rage, entering an early heat. Douglas kindly helped him by administering a suppressor, yet the man didn’t even say a single word of thanks!
Even worse, for the sake of his family’s interests, the beauty actually drank an aphrodisiac himself, attempting to force Douglas into a “strong-arm” encounter. Douglas pushed him away, claiming that “this costs extra” (not really). After the deed was done, the man turned cold and acted as if nothing had ever happened.
In short, Douglas really couldn’t understand this person. He was incredibly annoying, yet divorce was out of the question. With no other choice, he could only “make do” with the marriage, and he truly meant “make do”. He absolutely did not think his wife was pretty or enticing at all (Serious Face).
Cheng Nian, a freshman at the Imperial Special Academy, noticed that his blonde roommate, Elan, was a bit off. He couldn’t put his finger on it, but Elan seemed different from the other students. While everyone else was in combat training, Elan would be nowhere to be found, only to emerge from the woods half an hour later with a wound on his lip. Ten minutes after that, Headmaster Douglas would walk out of the same woods, scanning the area with total composure.
Cheng Nian: “?!”
During the holidays, even though Elan’s home was on the Capital Planet, he insisted on staying at school. When Cheng Nian returned to campus, he found the room excessively clean, as if it had been meticulously scrubbed. Although the windows were open, a faint, lingering scent of a strange Alpha’s pheromones remained. There were even rumors of people seeing Elan leave the Headmaster’s office in the middle of the night.
Cheng Nian panicked. Rumor had it Headmaster Douglas was married, so what was going on? Was his roommate the Headmaster’s secret lover?? Cheng Nian felt like his world was collapsing. It wasn’t until the rumors spiraled out of control, the Headmaster’s reputation was on the brink of ruin, and his roommate had become a public pariah labeled as a “homewrecker,” that a photo spread across the Star-Net. Only then did everyone realize that Elan was actually Headmaster Douglas’s legal wife.
Cheng Nian: “So? Am I just a part of your roleplay? To carry out an underground romance behind everyone’s back… how wicked.”
Douglas later came to understand that while Elan seemed difficult to handle, he was actually more forgiving than anyone else. Because he lacked love, he clung tightly to even the smallest scrap of affection. Even when hurt, met with harsh words, locked away, or choked to the point of suffocation, he would press close once more as if he couldn’t feel the pain.
He said he didn’t want an apology; he only wanted a kiss.
As long as he got a kiss, he would do anything.
