- Chapter 18 - Give Me Some Pheromones; I Have a Wife, Why Would I Use Suppressants
Douglas saw Elan walking toward him through the crowd. With a natural expression, Elan tapped the table in front of him. “I’m here to report.”
Douglas’s eyelid twitched. Intent on dampening Elan’s arrogant attitude, he sneered, “Go to the back of the line.”
Elan didn’t say a word; he simply stared at him.
The atmosphere between the two remained deadlocked until Qin reminded him timely, “Doug, I hope you remember the medical advice I just gave you.”
Hearing this, Douglas suddenly changed his mind. His gaze lingered on Elan for only a fleeting moment before he dropped a sentence: “Follow me.” He then turned around suavely.
Frowning, Elan passed through the special passage and followed him inside.
A dozen or so stewards carrying suitcases behind him attempted to follow in Elan’s footsteps, but they were heartlessly blocked by Qin. Qin remained expressionless, though his tone was perfectly polite: “Gentlemen, please follow the normal procedures. You may register over there.”
Elan hadn’t arrived particularly early; the school’s registration work had already been underway for some time. Students were passing back and forth throughout the campus—some familiarizing themselves with the facilities, others moving their belongings.
Douglas walked with a fast pace in front, assuming Elan would automatically keep up. However, his sensitive hearing alerted him to the fact that it was far too quiet behind him. He finally stopped and turned halfway to look back.
Elan was standing ten meters away, arms crossed, looking at him with a displeased expression.
Douglas took a deep breath, somewhat unable to control the pheromones surrounding him. He walked back impatiently, pulled down Elan’s crossed arms, grabbed him by the wrist, and gave a sharp tug forward.
“Hurry up.”
“What are you doing?”
Elan stumbled from the yank. Just as his question left his mouth, his nose caught that familiar woody scent.
The Principal’s office was too far from here. Douglas looked around, picked a sparsely populated area, and wound his way inward. Seeing that no one was around, he pressed Elan against a red brick wall and leaned in close.
“My rut has arrived.”
He didn’t control his strength; Elan’s back hit the hard wall with a painful thud. A look of anger appeared on his handsome face. In the next second, the man’s palm pressed against his forehead, brushing aside his long hair.
Elan pushed him hard but couldn’t budge him. “Can’t you take a suppressant?”
Douglas was not about to tell Elan the embarrassing fact that he had developed drug resistance due to the frequent use of suppressants. He merely said in a muddled, rogue-like manner, “I have a wife, why would I use suppressants? Give me some pheromones.”
Perhaps because the distance was too close, he felt a bit lightheaded from the scent right under his nose as soon as he finished speaking. He continued to lean forward.
Douglas regained his senses just as his lips touched Elan’s gland. He controlled the urge to pierce that soft flesh with his teeth, retracted his chin, and simply buried his head in the crook of Elan’s neck.
Hiss.
A sharp pain came from his Adam’s apple. Elan winced and couldn’t help but smack Douglas on the head. “Are you a dog?”
After Elan finished scolding, his eyes narrowed with displeasure. His palm, resting on Douglas’s head, tightened before sliding into his hair. He didn’t speak again, but Douglas felt the faint scent of red wine beginning to diffuse into the air.
Douglas slowly closed his eyes.
After a while, until Elan’s body grew stiff from maintaining the posture, he pushed the person in his arms irritably.
“Are you finished yet?”
Only then did Douglas straighten up. He tidied his rumpled suit, his gaze sweeping over the fresh tooth marks on Elan’s Adam’s apple. He reached into his suit trouser pocket for something.
His movements were far from elegant; instead, he looked like a local thug from a backwater planet. Elan couldn’t bear to watch and went about tidying his own clothes.
“Your reward.”
Douglas’s expression was a bit more amicable now, no longer gloomy. He finally pulled a white object out of his pocket. It was small and square; Elan had never seen it before.
Douglas opened the packaging and pinched Elan’s chin while he was off-guard. Elan froze, but then recovered his senses—something had been pasted onto his Adam’s apple.
Touching the gauze-like patch, Elan asked, “What is this?”
Douglas said, “Don’t worry about it. People like you who grew up on the Capital Star wouldn’t have used it anyway.”
Elan looked down and remained silent for a long moment. He didn’t say thank you, but instead said, “Fulfilling one’s obligations does not require payment. This is common sense.”
Douglas knew this person was again indirectly calling him uncultured and ignorant, but since Elan had helped him today after all, he clicked his tongue and didn’t argue. He only said, “My rut lasts a long time. Keep in touch.”
Once the situation stabilized, Douglas was about to leave when Elan called out to him.
Elan tapped a finger on his chest, his eyes containing something indefinable. “If this is a partner’s obligation, then shouldn’t you also help me resolve my heat?”
Elan’s hair and clothes were somewhat disheveled at this moment. From Douglas’s perspective, it even seemed as though he was intentionally tempting him.
Douglas’s eyes darkened slightly. He forced the man back against the wall again, pinched his chin, and said in a low voice, “I don’t mind, but I wonder if you would let a ‘low-life’ like me touch you?”
Douglas’s build was considered tall even among Alphas. Pressing Elan against the wall now, his aura was terrifying and full of pressure, making Elan extremely uncomfortable. He couldn’t help but think of Douglas’s violence from the previous night and said in an unfriendly tone, “Let go.”
Hearing this, Douglas forced a cold laugh from between his teeth. Indeed, Elan did not like him; he wasn’t even willing to listen to such words. He had no hobby of forcing his affection where it wasn’t wanted, so he turned and left decisively.
Douglas had only looked at the school map once, but his memory and sense of direction were excellent as he headed toward the Principal’s office.
Passing by the student dormitory building, there were many students. Douglas was not the type to mingle with students, so he quickened his pace, trying to leave via a more secluded route.
However, he was far too conspicuous. The surrounding students quickly noticed him and hurriedly made way, eyeing him with curiosity and whispering amongst themselves, though no student dared to approach.
Douglas: “…”
“General Douglas.”
A somewhat familiar voice suddenly came from behind him. Douglas paused his steps and turned to look at the black-haired Omega who had called out to him.
It was Mo Nanshan’s grandson. He seemed to be called… damn, he couldn’t remember.
“Will General Douglas attend the opening ceremony? I will be delivering a speech as the representative of the Combat Department for placing first in the entrance basic assessment.”
Mo Ting looked directly into Douglas’s eyes with his peach-blossom eyes, his tone confident and generous.
Only then did Douglas recall that the top student was supposed to speak on behalf of their major at the entrance ceremony. Wouldn’t that mean Elan would also appear on the same speech platform?
Looking at the person gazing at him expectantly, Douglas withdrew his wandering thoughts and nodded with a formulaic response: “I will attend. Keep it up.”
Mo Ting smiled, seemingly very happy just to receive such an answer. He didn’t linger further and said considerately, “General Douglas must be very busy today, I won’t disturb you further.”
Douglas gave a grunt of affirmation and left.
After he departed, Mo Ting opened his terminal and accepted a file sent from an anonymous account. After reading it seriously, a smile curled at the corners of his mouth, and the joy in his brows could not be hidden.
So, it was true that the relationship with his partner was bad.
“This place needs to be cleaned as well.”
Elan stood in the dormitory, pointing at a carpet with immense disdain. Upon hearing the command, the steward he brought with him stepped forward quickly, lifted the carpet, and wiped away the microscopic dust beneath it.
The dormitories at the Imperial Special Academy were designed as suites, featuring a shared living room and kitchen, two individual bedrooms, and each bedroom having its own private bathroom.
It was a very humane setup, luxurious enough for commoner students from backward planets, but for Elan, who grew up on the Capital Star, it was truly crude.
Moreover, having to share a living room and kitchen with someone was unheard of!
Cheng Nian was panting while holding a cardboard box. The dormitory building was too far from the school entrance, and with an Omega’s physical strength, he was exhausted from carrying the heavy load. He followed the dormitory number he had memorized, walking through the corridor toward the room arranged by the school.
As he approached the door, he heard the intertwined sounds of friction and something being sprayed coming from inside; the door was also wide open.
The expectant expression on Cheng Nian’s face instantly turned to hesitation. He walked tentatively to the doorway and locked eyes with the elegant and noble-looking blonde Omega sitting on the sofa inside. He wondered if he had come to the wrong place.
He took a step back to confirm he hadn’t made a mistake. Then, under the gaze of a dozen stewards who had stopped their cleaning, Cheng Nian spoke cautiously: “Hello… uh, I’m your roommate. My name is Cheng Nian.”
Elan appraised this male Omega, who stood as straight as a little sapling, from head to toe. He was wearing a faded white shirt and jeans; his aura was simple, and his round black eyes were full of innocence.
Elan gave a reserved nod, which served as a greeting.
Cheng Nian felt that this person didn’t seem to have any intention of telling him his name. He was about to ask, but before he could open his mouth, the man stood up again, went to the window, lightly slid a finger across the glass, and then called a steward over: “Clean the window again.”
Elan’s lips were tightly pursed as he took out a handkerchief to wipe his finger.
Cheng Nian couldn’t see any smudge on that glass which was already reflecting light, but his intuition told him it was better not to be nosy. Thus, he withdrew his desire to chat and silently pushed open the door to his own bedroom while clutching his cardboard box.
After tidying up a bit and putting his clothes and things in their proper places, he felt like something was missing. Cheng Nian suddenly slapped his head, remembering he still had a box with An He.
He pushed open the door and saw that the stewards responsible for cleaning had already left. Only Elan was sitting on the sofa, drinking tea and reading a book.
Hearing the sound of the door opening, Elan glanced indifferently at the person poking his head out of the room.
Seeing that Elan had noticed him, Cheng Nian finally plucked up the courage to ask: “May I ask what your name is?”
Elan didn’t look up, slowly turning a page of the book: “Elan.”
The atmosphere was too awkward, so Cheng Nian responded dryly: “Uh, okay.”
“Cheng Nian, you left your box with me.”
Hearing someone calling his name from behind, Cheng Nian turned around joyfully: “I was just about to go get it. Brother An He, thank you so much.”
The male Alpha, who had a gentle temperament like a spring breeze, handed the box to Cheng Nian. His curious gaze bypassed Cheng Nian’s shoulder and landed on the person sitting on the sofa.
“Cheng Nian, is this person your roommate?”
Cheng Nian was originally going to introduce Elan, but since An He had brought it up proactively, he nodded hurriedly, “Yes.”
The act of a strange Alpha intruding into the living room without permission made Elan unhappy. Seeing them mention him now, he gave An He a cold nod, then picked up his book and returned to his bedroom.
Seeing Elan leave, Cheng Nian’s heart settled slightly. He explained to An He: “He is my roommate, Elan. He might just not be very fond of socializing; it’s not that he’s being impolite to you.”
