I Love Her Because She’s Dim-Witted And Filthy Rich - Chapter 34.1
Have you finally relented?
Duan Bainian stopped tugging at Su Miao. She looked into Su Miao’s eyes with a playful, mischievous expression. “Do you know what you just said?”
Su Miao was full of indignation. “I know!”
Watching the fuming Su Miao, Duan Bainian was overcome with joy. She pinched Su Miao’s cheek. “Are you feeling very wronged?”
Su Miao’s mouth puckered, looking as though she was about to cry again.
Duan Bainian quickly interrupted her, “I prepared a gift for you. Do you want to see it?”
Su Miao said with a pout, “I don’t want to see it at all!”
However, her eyes were darting around the room, clearly searching for what the gift might be.
The smile in Duan Bainian’s eyes became harder to hide. Her little fool really was the type whose mouth said no but whose body said yes—cowardly yet adorable.
Duan Bainian went to another room and carried out a cat that was snow-white all over.
The kitten wasn’t shy at all. When Duan Bainian placed it on the floor, it actually tottered straight toward Su Miao.
When it got to within a step of Su Miao, the kitten stopped. It looked up at her and let out a soft “Meow~~”
Su Miao was stunned. “Is… is it for me?”
Duan Bainian nodded. “Didn’t you say you really wanted to raise a small animal?”
Su Miao squatted down cautiously and tentatively stroked the kitten’s head. To her surprise, the kitten was an experienced “swindler”; it immediately flopped onto the ground against Su Miao’s hand, purring loudly.
Su Miao was utterly flattered. She slowly picked up the kitten, her face glowing with excitement. “Duan Bainian! It’s so well-behaved! It’s so cute!”
Duan Bainian blinked. “So… do you like this gift?”
Of course she liked it.
Ever since she was a child, she had always wanted to raise a cat or a dog. When she was little and saw the neighbors out walking their pets, she was incredibly envious.
But her mother didn’t like small animals, thinking they were just full of fur that would shed everywhere in the house, so she never got to have one.
Su Miao lowered her head, leaned close to the kitten, and grinned widely. “Meow~”
The kitten also responded with a “Meow~”
Su Miao was so excited she almost rolled around on the spot. “Ahhh, it actually answered me!”
Duan Bainian stepped forward and stroked the kitten’s head. “It doesn’t have a name yet. You give it one.”
Su Miao giggled. “I thought of what name I’d give a cat a long time ago.”
Duan Bainian asked, “What is it?”
Su Miao replied, “Ergou!” (Two Dogs)
Duan Bainian: “…” “It’s worth some money after all; isn’t that name a bit too casual?”
Su Miao argued her point convincingly, “The older generation always says that the ‘lowlier’ the name, the longer they live. I want it to live for a long time!”
Duan Bainian accepted Su Miao’s twisted logic and smiled. “Fine, Ergou it is then.”
Su Miao’s eyes curved into the shape of little fish. “Hehe.”
Duan Bainian pinched the kitten’s ear. “Ergou, you are our token of love. You must live for a very long time.”
Hearing the words “token of love,” Su Miao blushed slightly. “Oh, a girlfriend is a girlfriend. Why say ‘token of love’? It sounds so strange!”
Duan Bainian leaned closer to Su Miao and smiled. “Then… may I ask, can I kiss my girlfriend now?”
Su Miao instantly thought of the dream she’d had where the two of them kissed. But a dream was just a dream; it couldn’t compare to reality.
In the dream, she didn’t think much of the kiss, but at this moment, hearing the word “kiss” from Duan Bainian, she was truly… embarrassed to death.
She was so shy she didn’t know where to look, her gaze darting everywhere. “Why… why are you saying that…”
Actually, Duan Bainian was also quite nervous. She was just used to maintaining a sophisticated appearance. However, when it came to the matter of love, she didn’t actually have any practical experience, let alone kissing.
She originally wanted to take advantage of the atmosphere to share a kiss, but seeing that Su Miao wasn’t quite ready to accept it, she simply kissed Su Miao on the forehead. After a brief pause, she pulled back.
Su Miao looked at her with hesitation. “That’s it?”
Su Miao was confused. She thought Duan Bainian was going to kiss her on the lips. To just kiss her on the forehead like this—how was that any different from the way her high school classmates used to kiss?
Wasn’t being in love supposed to involve kissing on the mouth?
Hearing Su Miao’s “That’s it?”, Duan Bainian understood something instantly.
Tsk, this fool isn’t that foolish after all.
She knows quite a bit.
This time, she truly kissed her.
This kiss was full of novelty, exploration, and joy.
However, it also left Su Miao full of questions. “Have you been in love before?”
Duan Bainian looked at Su Miao curiously. “I haven’t. Why would you ask that?”
Su Miao said hesitantly, “Then why do I feel like your kissing is something you’ve done many times before?”
Duan Bainian was stunned for a moment. Once she realized what Su Miao meant, she couldn’t help but laugh. “This is my first kiss… maybe I’m just naturally gifted?”
If that night of secret kissing didn’t count.
Su Miao was somewhat unconvinced. A kiss is a kiss; why bring up being “naturally gifted”? Everyone is having their first kiss; why should Duan Bainian be naturally gifted? Did that mean she was saying Su Miao was stupid?
It wasn’t until several days later that Su Miao realized, in hindsight, she seemed to have fallen into Duan Bainian’s trap.
Su Miao questioned Duan Bainian indignantly, “Why was Ergou bought and brought home in advance? Did you calculate long ago that I would agree to be your girlfriend?!”
Duan Bainian said innocently, “Isn’t being in love with me happy? Why bother with those insignificant little details?”
For a moment, Su Miao couldn’t find a reason to argue back.
Finally, Su Miao remembered something important. “Um… our relationship, we don’t have to go public, right?”
Actually, she couldn’t consider too many things. She only knew that if her mother found out about this, she would be angry. But if she didn’t date Duan Bainian, then Duan Bainian would be angry.
It was truly a dilemma.
So she could only hope to keep this relationship tightly hidden, hoping her mother would never find out.
Duan Bainian also didn’t plan on going public. Being in the entertainment industry, making a relationship public—especially a same-sex one—involved risks that were simply too great. So she also agreed to not go public for the time being.
Su Miao had always been the type whose mouth said no while her body said yes. Although she claimed she didn’t want to date Duan Bainian, she actually wished she could be attached to Duan Bainian every single second.
Just like now, during a break in the program recording, Duan Bainian got up to go to the restroom, and Su Miao immediately followed her.
Hearing the pitter-patter of footsteps behind her, Duan Bainian curled her lips into a smile.
She knew Su Miao would definitely follow.
Su Miao followed her into the restroom. Turning a corner, she crashed into someone’s arms. Startled, she immediately took a step back.
But it was Duan Bainian.
Su Miao: “You scared me to death!”
Duan Bainian smiled. “Are you coming to the toilet too?”
Su Miao’s eyes darted around. Finally, she gave Duan Bainian a peck on the lips. “Hehe, I’m not going to the toilet. I just wanted to come and kiss you.”
Duan Bainian was startled. She immediately checked her surroundings. “Didn’t you say you didn’t want to go public? Be careful someone might see us.”
Su Miao swayed her head. “I paid attention when I came in; there’s no one!”
Seeing Su Miao’s proud expression, Duan Bainian didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
These past few days, to be honest, had been quite an ordeal for her.
Of course, she was happy—she had gotten her wish and established a relationship with Su Miao, and surprisingly, Su Miao really liked kissing her.
Sometimes when they kissed, she would secretly open her eyes and see Su Miao looking completely immersed in it.
Occasionally, Su Miao would even take the initiative to ask for a kiss.
This made her… enjoy it very much.
But every time it was only kissing. Besides kissing, there was nothing else, and this made her suffer quite a bit.
After all, her restless desires had already taken root and sprouted on that night in Hengdian back in May.
On the night their relationship was confirmed, the two of them lay in bed, and Duan Bainian took the initiative to kiss Su Miao.
A kiss right after eating watermelon was cool and sweet. It made one intoxicated and unable to pull away.
As the kiss deepened and grew passionate, Duan Bainian subconsciously reached her hand under the hem of the pajamas. The person beneath her jolted and pushed her away.
“What… what are you doing!”
Duan Bainian snapped back to her senses instantly. Rarely, her face also turned red. “You don’t want me to touch you, is that it?”
Su Miao’s breathing was uneven as she panted, “Why are you touching my waist?”
Duan Bainian: “…”
Su Miao stared with her large eyes. “Did you ask me to confirm our relationship just so you could do this with me?”
Duan Bainian looked at Su Miao in surprise. “How could you think that?”
Su Miao said aggrievedly, “I don’t like you being like this right now.”
Duan Bainian felt a bit of regret; she had frightened Su Miao.
Su Miao had her own safety zone. Inside that zone were the trees, plants, mountains, and waters she was familiar with.
By nature, Su Miao would never take the initiative to step out of her safety zone.
When faced with unfamiliar people or things, Su Miao’s first reaction would only be fear and dread.
Just like at this moment, Su Miao didn’t actually know exactly what would happen next, but she was clear that it exceeded her safety zone, so she had to call a stop.
The two of them came out of the restroom and returned to the set to continue recording the program.
Su Miao pulled out a chair and sat down. Looking up, she happened to lock eyes with Bai Yi opposite her.
Bai Yi had no expression. She looked Su Miao over and then looked away.
Su Miao suddenly remembered the time she had stumbled upon Bai Yi and Yu Xue arguing.
