I Just Want to Spoil and Run Away with the Abused Female Lead [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 47.2
Shen Yishu curled her lips into a smile and deliberately teased back, “It’s probably personal like when you tell me to go east, and I go north or south instead.”
Shi Xingrao: “…”
Shi Xingrao tilted her head up, pouting with a pitiful expression as she complained to Shen Yishu, “Shen Yishu, weren’t you supposed to be all aloof and reserved? Weren’t you good at pretending? How did you end up like this?”
“I was pretending too much before. I’ve realized it now and think I should change.” After responding to Shi Xingrao, Shen Yishu began giving instructions one by one, “Take your time on the road, and remember to call me if anything happens, got it?”
Before shutting off her phone, Shi Xingrao sent a message to Yang Xiao.
[Just an Ordinary Little Genius: Hey grandson, your grandma’s back.]
Seeing that Shi Xingrao had finally replied to him, Yang Xiao nearly gritted his teeth to dust. “Grandson,” huh? Fine. Shi Xingrao was still as stubborn as ever.
He was determined to go see for himself whether Shi Xingrao could keep up her tough act after witnessing how well he was doing now.
After finishing his last entry of falsified accounts, Yang Xiao left work and headed straight to the airport. He waited there for twelve hours before realizing how impulsive he had been. So focused on anticipating Shi Xingrao’s humiliation, he had forgotten that her flight wouldn’t arrive for a long time.
On the plane, Shi Xingrao slept for a while but spent the rest of her time monitoring the fluctuations in Yang Xiao’s emotional values through the system. She couldn’t help but comment, “I really think this psycho is a bit unhinged. One moment, his joy level peaks, and the next, his hatred level skyrockets. He’s bouncing back and forth like crazy does he actually have a split personality?”
Cat Ear whispered softly beside Shi Xingrao, “Host, there aren’t many easy targets like this left. You’ve got to take full advantage while you can.”
Shi Xingrao fixed her gaze on Cat Ear, a mischievous glint in her eyes. “Duoduo, you’re so ruthless.”
Cat Ear, suddenly accused: “…”
As soon as Shi Xingrao stepped off the plane, she saw the psycho’s venomous eyes practically glowing like lightbulbs. The people around her were so startled by the sight that they instinctively took a few steps back.
Shi Xingrao: “This psycho’s mental state really isn’t doing so well.”
She walked up to him and said, “Hey grandson, have you been waiting long for your grandma? Don’t tell me you’ve been waiting here for over ten hours? Tsk, such filial piety.”
Yang Xiao clenched his fists in fury. Shi Xingrao’s sharp tongue was as infuriating as ever. He really wanted to tear that mouth of hers to shreds. Before dumping her in the middle of nowhere, he swore he would rip that insolent mouth apart.
“Go on, tell me, how much did you embezzle? My advice to you is to turn yourself in as soon as possible.”
Shi Xingrao’s tone was dripping with sarcasm, and she looked down on him with an air of superiority, as if she couldn’t stand his behavior or was staring at a rat crawling out of a sewer. Was he some kind of foul, repulsive creature? How dare Shi Xingrao keep looking at him with that kind of gaze?
Yang Xiao retorted, “I earned all of that through my own abilities. When have I ever embezzled anything? How dare you spread baseless rumors?”
Shi Xingrao let out a cold sneer, sizing Yang Xiao up and down. The man was dressed in a suit, looking every bit the respectable gentleman, but her tone was laced with disdain. “With someone like you no talent, no looks, no capital, how could you possibly have money without embezzling?”
“I think you’ve just been used as a pawn. Well, with your level of intelligence, it’s no surprise you’d end up as someone else’s tool.”
“Just wait and see how the people behind you treat you when things go wrong. Someone like you, without a single piece of leverage in your hands… tsk tsk, your fate won’t be pretty.”
Yang Xiao grew even angrier. Shi Xingrao didn’t understand his capabilities at all she only saw him as trash.
“Use that pig brain of yours and think: why would such a good opportunity fall into your lap? Their money never goes directly into their pockets it’s all laundered clean. But what about yours?”
“Did they also tell you that you should take the benefits first, and it wouldn’t matter if they got theirs later?”
“You’ve been used as a pawn and you don’t even realize it. Luckily, this is just an economic crime. What if you’d accidentally killed someone? What would you do then?”
After skillfully sowing discord, Shi Xingrao shot him one last mocking glance and strode away.
Every word Shi Xingrao said struck a nerve, and Yang Xiao was so furious he felt like his lungs were about to explode. But once he calmed down a little, a chill ran down his spine. Had he really been set up?
Yang Xiao recalled the drugs those old-timers from the Shen family had given him, instructing him to find a way to drug Shen Yishu. He hurried back home.
As he entered his newly moved-into neighborhood, Yang Xiao suddenly spotted a small kitten in the greenery nearby. The residents seemed quite friendly toward the kitten barely three months old, it had been raised to be docile and unafraid of people.
Yang Xiao often found himself relaxing at the sight of the kitten. He crouched down, and the kitten immediately trotted over, rubbing against his hand. Yang Xiao gently stroked it. “Are you a little furball? How can you be so happy even as a stray?”
“Heartless little thing.”
The kitten seemed to understand him, meowing softly in response.
“What’s so great about living as a stray? You should aim for a life of luxury that’s what it means to truly live.”
Watching the vibrant little life before him, Yang Xiao initially pinched the kitten’s scruff gently. But as he went on, he couldn’t help but tighten his grip. The kitten struggled, kicking its legs and scratching Yang Xiao’s hands until they were covered in bloody marks, yet he showed no intention of letting go.
For some reason, Yang Xiao suddenly felt as if he’d been electrocuted and abruptly released his hold. He glanced around there was no one in sight. Puzzled, he wondered if it had been static electricity, but static electricity shouldn’t have been that strong. His hand was completely numb.
The kitten lay on the ground, barely breathing, its beautiful, clear blue eyes welling up with tears.
The once soft and vibrant life was fading away at an alarming speed.
Shi Xingrao let out a cold laugh. Truly a beast. A beast like this would even harm a life that poses no threat to him.
She found a healing card from her inventory and used it on the kitten. Gradually, the kitten’s faint breathing began to stabilize.
Yang Xiao shook his hand, glaring viciously at the kitten on the ground. He seemed intent on doing more but suddenly remembered something, a faint smirk curling at the corners of his lips. He pulled a bottle of medicine from his pocket, forced the kitten’s mouth open, and prepared to pour it down.
The medicine in Yang Xiao’s pocket was a deadly poison Shi Xingrao knew this all too well. This was exactly the outcome she had hoped for. Once Yang Xiao discovered it was poison and realized he had been manipulated by the Shen family, he would stop at nothing to retaliate against them.
But now, Yang Xiao could have simply sent the medicine for testing. Instead, his first thought was to test it on a living creature.
Of course, she should have expected as much from someone like Yang Xiao. She had been careless.
A flicker of urgency crossed Shi Xingrao’s expression as she frantically searched through her vast card library. She remembered a card capable of generating a virtual projection. As she rummaged, a thin layer of sweat formed on her palms.
It was the first time Cat Ears had seen Shi Xingrao so flustered. In all the missions she had undertaken, Shi Xingrao had always been composed, as if everything were under her control. She understood human nature, especially the psychology of those who committed evil deeds, and she skillfully used that understanding to achieve her goals.
Shen Yishu had once warned Shi Xingrao not to dirty her hands for the sake of such people, but in truth, Shi Xingrao had never truly dirtied them. It was their own greed and flaws that brought about their downfall, Shi Xingrao merely knew how to provoke those weaknesses at the right moment.
Often, Cat Ears felt that Shi Xingrao’s cold demeanor made her more suited to be a deity overseeing a world she never showed misplaced compassion. Her sense of right and wrong was clear: those who did wrong deserved to pay the price, and anyone who harmed those she cared about would face her retribution.
Today, however, was the first time Shi Xingrao had ever been so frantic in searching for something. Yet, this side of her made her seem more human, more grounded. Unconsciously, Shi Xingrao was no longer the little girl in the red dress who coldly watched others meet their demise.
“Found it! Duoduo, generate a holographic clip of the kitten drinking the poison and dying.”
Shi Xingrao let out a soft sigh of relief, but even as she sat in the system space, she watched the screen nervously as the projection replaced the real kitten.
The actual kitten remained where it was, clinging weakly to life.
Yang Xiao stared at the scene before him, almost unable to believe his eyes. He hurled the glass bottle to the ground, watching as the kitten in the projection bled from all seven orifices. Staggering backward, he collapsed onto the floor.
The sweltering summer wind blew past, yet Yang Xiao felt a chill run down his spine. They ! He swallowed hard, his mind racing. The old fools of the Shen family wanted him dead! They were using him as a pawn!
No, he thought, gulping again. He had to gather evidence now. He couldn’t let them destroy him like this. Even if he were to die, he would drag every last one of them down with him. If he had to go, they would all go together!
Yang Xiao scrambled to his feet and fled in a panic, stumbling and crawling for more than a dozen steps before he regained his footing.
The kitten on the ground was still breathing weakly. Shi Xingrao instructed the driver to change their location.
Cat Ears: “Sister Rao, you’re not going home for now? Isn’t President Shen waiting for you at home?”
Shi Xingrao slowly blinked her eyes. “We’re going to pick up the kitten first. It’ll be a surprise for Shen Yishu.”
Cat Ears could understand that Shi Xingrao wanted to rescue the kitten that was nearly killed by Yang Xiao, but it didn’t quite grasp why picking up the kitten would be a surprise for Shen Yishu.
Cat Ears: “Does President Shen like kittens too? Our Main God also likes cats. Oh, have I mentioned this before? Our Main God absolutely adores cats.”
“She even has a giant cat in her Main God space. Sister Rao, did you see it when you visited last time?”
Shi Xingrao: “…”
“Of course I saw it. Someone insisted on making the giant cat do somersaults, without even considering whether their own cat could actually do it.”
Shi Xingrao propped her chin on her hand, pretending to casually gaze outside. The fleeting light and shadows fell upon her exceptionally beautiful face. Suddenly remembering something, she slowly blinked her eyes. “Not Cat Ears, you’re a cat too. How did you get kicked out of the Main God’s space to become a system?”
Cat Ears: “…”
“Your Main God loves cats so much, logically they should like you too.”
Cat Ears fell silent again. Sometimes she really wanted to cover Shi Xingrao’s mouth. That hit hard, really hard. They were both cats, yet the difference in treatment was just too big.
By the time Shi Xingrao arrived, the cat was still in the same spot, having recovered slightly but not fully. At least now it was breathing more steadily than before.
It seemed one healing card wasn’t enough. Shi Xingrao used several more cards stacked together before the cat fully recovered from its previous state.
When they reached the Shen residence, the kitten could even walk on its own. It seemed to understand who had saved it, following closely behind Shi Xingrao with little pattering steps.
Shi Xingrao first sent a message to Shen Yishu: “Come downstairs quickly, I have a surprise for you.”
Shen Yishu: “?”
Shen Yishu paused the ongoing meeting. “Everyone can adjourn now. If there are any issues later, you can contact Vice President Shen.”
In the conference room, Shen Yun’s face showed little expression. It had been a long time since Shen Yishu had called such a large meeting. During Shen Yishu’s absence, many people had subconsciously regarded her as the company’s backbone. Yet with just this one meeting, all decision-making authority seemed to have returned to Shen Yishu’s hands.
But then again, during Shen Yishu’s absence, she hadn’t been able to touch any of the Shen Corporation’s core operations at all.
Shen Yishu’s delegation of authority was like giving a toy to the younger family members. But those fools in the Shen family actually believed Shen Yishu had completely let go of everything in the corporation just for a relationship.
Shen Yun’s eyes darkened. No wonder these people had been completely stripped of power by Shen Yishu and left aside to retire.
If she were them, she wouldn’t continue making trouble. Without real capability, such speculative, troublemaking behavior was no different from seeking death.
As Shen Yishu came downstairs and opened the door, before she could even see Shi Xingrao, she spotted a small kitten on the floor. The snow-white kitten crouched on the ground, letting out a soft “meow” at her. Its beautiful blue eyes seemed filled with stars, utterly adorable.
Only then did Shi Xingrao jump out, seriously telling the kitten, “She’s your mommy. Go on, call her mommy.”
A slight smile touched Shen Yishu’s lips, her eyes full of affection as she watched the young girl telling the kitten to call her mommy. Her little girl was just too adorable.
Shi Xingrao blinked her eyes and actively threw herself into Shen Yishu’s embrace. “Do you like this surprise, President Shen?”
Shen Yishu caught her steadily. “I like it. I couldn’t like it more.”
The fact that Shi Xingrao kept her in mind was already enough to make her happy. Now that Shi Xingrao was willing to give her surprises, her joy knew no bounds.
