I Just Want to Spoil and Run Away with the Abused Female Lead [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 21
“Sis, are you going to visit Uncle today? I’ll go with you.”
Just as Lin Shuangran was about to head downstairs, she heard Shi Xingrao speak. The woman’s lips carried a faint smile, looking every bit like an innocent, harmless little white flower.
It was impossible to tell that this was the same person who had made Lin Yi roll her eyes in exasperation just yesterday.
She didn’t seem all that irritating, Lin Shuangran thought idly. It must be Lin Yi’s problem.
Lin Shuangran replied, “What made you decide to come with me? Lin Yi will be going later too. Are you sure you want to come along?”
Shi Xingrao’s eyes turned resentful, her tone pitiful. “I knew it Sis likes Lin Yi more. If she’s going, you won’t take me out anymore.”
Lin Shuangran chuckled. “When did I ever say I liked Lin Yi more? Grab your coat. But no saying anything inappropriate later.”
At home was one thing no matter how much these two bickered, it wouldn’t sound too ridiculous. But saying shameless things at the hospital wouldn’t be appropriate.
“Really? Then say you like me more, Sis.” Shi Xingrao leaned in slightly toward Lin Shuangran, rising on her tiptoes, her clear eyes gazing at her expectantly.
Though it sounded like a flirtatious remark, Shi Xingrao took it seriously, lending the words a weightier significance.
Lin Shuangran reached out and tapped the girl’s forehead. “Why are you so fond of acting spoiled?”
Instead of being sidetracked by the question, Shi Xingrao grew even more clingy, insisting, “Sis, Sis, just say you like me more, please? You can even lie to me I don’t mind.”
“I like you, of course I like you more.” As soon as the words left Lin Shuangran’s lips, Shi Xingrao leaned in and kissed her cheek.
“I like you too, Sis. I like you the most.”
Lin Shuangran was momentarily stunned by the kiss. By the time she recovered, Shi Xingrao had already gone back to her room to get her coat. “Sis, let’s go. Time to head out.”
Slowly coming back to her senses, Lin Shuangran’s lips curved into a smile. Shi Xingrao, Shi Xiao Gou (Little Dog Shi). She’d never met anyone more like a puppy than Shi Xingrao.
She loved to tease, and as soon as she was done, she’d scamper away.
But then again, who wouldn’t love a happy little puppy? Lin Shuangran mused.
When they arrived at the hospital, Shi Xingrao had no intention of visiting the couple, so Lin Shuangran asked her to wait outside. Shi Xingrao obediently stayed by the door, waiting for Lin Shuangran.
But as soon as Lin Shuangran stepped into the hospital room, Lin Yi showed up.
“Waiting for Lin Shuangran?” Lin Yi crossed her arms, a bag in hand, and gave Shi Xingrao a once-over, her gaze lingering on Shi Xingrao’s neck.
After a moment, she let out a soft scoff. “I thought you two were going to do something last night. You wouldn’t let me hide under the bed, but it turns out nothing happened after all, huh?”
“Little fox, it seems no matter how much you pretend, Lin Shuangran can still see right through you.”
Shi Xingrao: “…”
“How do you know nothing happened between Sis and me?” Shi Xingrao lifted her delicate chin, refusing to back down.
“Who are you trying to fool? Do you think I’m four years older than Lin Shuangran for nothing? Her shyness is something I’ve seen and played with for years. With her being so easily flustered, there’s no way she’d sleep with you just like that yesterday.”
Lin Yi narrowed her eyes. “Little fox, it’s not that I’m looking down on you.”
“At most, you two just shared a kiss yesterday, right?”
Shi Xingrao bit her lower lip, wondering how two sisters could be so different. Her sister was so kind and gentle, while Lin Yi’s mouth was just so irritating. It was almost as annoying as Yu Chen’s, who never missed a chance to mock her whenever they met.
“If you look down on me, so be it. My sister and I have all the time in the world, unlike you, who’s still single at your age.” When the other party threw sarcasm her way, Shi Xingrao wasn’t about to take it lying down. She retaliated with all her might, hitting right where it hurt.
Sure enough, Lin Yi was so infuriated that she rolled her eyes. After calming down a little, Lin Yi spoke unhurriedly, “I didn’t expect you to care so much about me, even knowing I don’t have a girlfriend right now.”
“Anyone who didn’t know better would think it wasn’t Lin Shuangran you were after.”
Shi Xingrao: “??? Lin Yi, are you insane?”
“Yeah, I am,” Lin Yi lazily lifted her eyelids.
Lin Yi’s face, which bore a slight resemblance to Lin Shuangran’s, carried a faint, ambiguous smile. Unlike Lin Shuangran, Lin Yi’s features were bright and bold, with narrow, expressive eyes that seemed to flirt with everyone they met.
If Lin Shuangran was like a jasmine flower, Lin Yi was like a dazzling peony, attracting bees and butterflies wherever she went.
For a moment, Shi Xingrao felt as if Yu Chen was right in her face, taunting her all over again. Yu Chen had pulled this kind of nonsense in front of her more than once before.
Shi Xingrao summoned Cat Ears. “Are you sure there’s only one host per fast-transmission world? The more I look at Lin Yi, the more something feels off. Are you absolutely certain Yu Chen wasn’t brought into this world to do the mission with me?”
Cat Ears: “!!! Impossible! The Main God would never allow something that violates the fast-transmission bureau’s rules to happen.”
Shi Xingrao: “Then how do you explain Lin Yi? Was she originally like this? What happened to ‘steady and dignified’? Did her character setting break? Don’t tell me I’m the one who caused it to break.”
“Maybe? Host, it must be because you’ve been too outrageous.” Cat Ears continued, “Look, if you hadn’t mocked Lin Yi like that yesterday, would she be acting like this today? It’s obvious you provoked her.”
After hearing Cat Ears shift the blame, Shi Xingrao sneered, “I provoked her? Why don’t you just admit your lousy fast-transmission bureau is the problem? Even character settings can break.”
“Whatever, why am I even talking to a useless thing like you? Asking you is worse than testing it out myself.”
Cat Ears, having been thoroughly mocked: “…”
It was wrong. It shouldn’t have tried to shift the blame to Shi Xingrao.
Whenever it tried to pin the blame on Shi Xingrao, this woman would only throw it right back and give it a couple of solid punches for good measure.
Shi Xingrao curled her lips into a faint, ambiguous smile and beckoned to Lin Yi. However, Lin Yi showed no intention of approaching, only deepening the intensity in her eyes.
“Shi Xingrao, are you calling a dog? If you want to talk, come over here yourself.”
Shi Xingrao: “…”
Shi Xingrao’s face turned cold. “Fine, if you won’t come over, I’ll go find my sister.”
As soon as the words left her mouth, before Shi Xingrao could take a step, Lin Yi grabbed her hand. The woman narrowed her eyes displeasedly. “Leaving just like that? What do you take me for? Lu Ze, whom you cursed out mercilessly, or Gu Yi, whom you casually mocked?”
