I Just Want to Spoil and Run Away with the Abused Female Lead [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 10
After the variety show ended, Shi Xingrao gained a bit of popularity and promptly received the final payment from the program team.
Without hesitation, Shi Xingrao took Cat Ears shopping at the mall. As they strolled, Shi Xingrao continued her questioning, “Duoduo, once the mission is over and I leave this world, will the original owner of this body return?”
Cat Ears shook her head. “No, the individuals chosen for transmigration are already deceased. If the host departs, the body will die again.”
After hearing Cat Ears’ explanation, Shi Xingrao sat on a bench, holding her milk tea, silent for a long while as she watched the passersby.
She wandered a bit more before stepping into a jewelry store, where she selected a bracelet inspired by sunflowers. Yellow diamond accents adorned the leaves, sparkling brilliantly as they refracted an orange-yellow glow truly beautiful.
The bracelet nearly exhausted all the earnings Shi Xingrao had made from the variety show.
Cat Ears remarked, “Host, you really aren’t leaving anything for yourself, are you?”
Shi Xingrao replied teasingly, “What’s the point of saving? I’m going to die eventually anyway, so I might as well spend it now.”
Before Shi Xingrao even entered the door, Lin Shuangran heard her calling out “Sis” from the yard.
The girl’s voice was crisp and lively not sharp like when she encountered someone she disliked, nor distant and cold like when facing unfamiliar people. It seemed all her liveliness was reserved just for her.
Lin Shuangran looked down from the window and saw Shi Xingrao standing amidst a field of sunflowers, looking up at her and shouting, “Sis, I’m back!”
Lin Shuangran’s lips curved into a smile. “I heard you.”
What Lin Shuangran didn’t expect was that Shi Xingrao had prepared a gift for her. “Sis, I used all my salary to buy this. It’s not much, but you can’t dislike it, okay?”
Lin Shuangran’s gaze softened repeatedly as she looked at Shi Xingrao. “It’s very beautiful. I really like it.”
Lin Shuangran had never been treated with such warmth before. She hadn’t known what it felt like to be loved, but now, Shi Xingrao had shown her. She even felt that, after being treated so sincerely by someone like this, it would be hard for her to settle for less in the future.
Cat Ears exclaimed, “Raorao, Raorao, ahhh!!!”
“You’re hurting my eyes, Duoduo.”
Cat Ears continued to squeal, “The female lead’s favorability toward you has increased! It’s reached ten points! Ahhh, the ship I’m rooting for is real!”
Shi Xingrao lowered her eyes and responded indifferently, “I know.”
She wanted Lin Shuangran to understand that not just any rotten cabbage would do. Lin Shuangran was so wonderful, she deserved only the best.
Although Lin Shuangran was happy, she still sensed that Shi Xingrao’s mood wasn’t particularly high. Even though Shi Xingrao wasn’t very talkative aside from sweetly calling her “Sis,” Lin Shuangran could always tell at a glance whether Shi Xingrao was genuinely happy.
Lin Shuangran asked, “Did work not go well today?”
“Sis, your good friend tricked me. I said the wrong thing, and she didn’t edit it out for me.”
Under the orange-yellow light, Shi Xingrao leaned against Lin Shuangran’s chest. Lin Shuangran gently stroked her hair, her tone indulgent. “So, next time, will you know not to speak carelessly?”
Shi Xingrao stayed silent, clearly indicating that she would still speak carelessly next time.
Lin Shuangran’s cool fingertips brushed past Shi Xingrao’s earlobe, catching a strand of jet-black hair and twirling it around her finger.
The sweet, honeyed scent of peaches lingered in the air, teasing the senses. Shi Xingrao tilted her head back, her gaze bold and unguarded, her lips full and plump looking even more enticing to kiss than a ripe peach.
A strange tension simmered between them as their eyes locked. Under the warm, dim glow of the light, the woman’s elegant, high-bridged nose was half illuminated, half veiled in shadow.
Shi Xingrao ran her tongue over her teeth, her eyes fixated on the top button of Lin Shuangran’s shirt, which revealed only the slender curve of her neck. Yet, an inexplicable urge surged within her a desire to leave a mark on that delicate skin. Reaching up, she gently brushed her thumb against the side of Lin Shuangran’s neck.
It wasn’t a sudden move, yet Lin Shuangran froze, as if forgetting how to react. Only when the soft flesh was lightly sucked did she snap back to reality.
Her fingers gripped the edge of the sofa, tightening with tension. Her breathing grew ragged, and a flustered plea escaped her lips, “Raorao, you can’t do this.”
Shi Xingrao’s eyes drifted open, her gaze predatory like a beast locking onto its prey. In that moment, Lin Shuangran recalled the saying: Shi Xingrao was never some innocent little bunny.
Truthfully, she had never seen Shi Xingrao as naive or harmless. But the version of her now confident, alluring, and utterly in control felt unfamiliar.
A soft tongue traced the skin on her neck, and Lin Shuangran’s back stiffened. Her misty eyes stared back, looking like a lamb willingly offering its neck to the slaughter, Shi Xingrao thought.
How could she be so easy to bully?
“Raorao, be good.”
Lin Shuangran never imagined she would be cornered like this by a girl two or three years her junior. Her fair cheeks flushed pink, her beautiful face struggling to maintain composure, yet still betraying a hint of helpless confusion.
She truly didn’t know how girls were supposed to handle such situations. She didn’t want to appear so flustered in front of Shi Xingrao, but now, Biting her crimson lips, her lovely eyes brimming with unshed tears, she murmured, “Raorao.”
