- Chapter 63 - Ice Block
“Fu Yanxi?”
“Hmm.”
Fu Yanxi put her glasses back on, her expression softening considerably.
No longer carrying the sharp edges she had initially.
Lin Ruocheng pushed the door open and stepped out, taking the other’s hands in hers.
They were a bit cold.
The knuckles were red from the chill.
Even her nose was red from the cold.
“Why didn’t you message me when you were downstairs? What if I had already left? Are you cold? Let me warm you up.”
Lin Ruocheng looked at her, speaking as she tucked the icy hands into her own pockets.
“I guessed you were still upstairs. If I was wrong, I would have left when the time came.”
Fu Yanxi sniffled; she had been feeling a bit under the weather lately.
But it was fine, she had just finished her IV drip.
She could manage on her own.
She didn’t need too much attention.
“Leave? Where would you go? Straight into my heart? Are you feeling better after the IV and injection today? Why didn’t you call me? I could’ve come to keep you company and chat. Isn’t it boring being alone? Or is it not? Did you take your medicine? I bet you didn’t, did you? When did you have lunch? It’s been half an hour now…”
“I took the medicine. I’m feeling okay now.”
“I figured it might be that time of the month for you, so I didn’t ask you to come out. The IV was quick anyway, no need to waste your time. But the meeting this afternoon was scheduled last minute, I had to attend. So, I waited downstairs for you.”
Lin Ruocheng seemed a bit dissatisfied with her answer.
It seemed the little Taurus still wasn’t quite used to this.
“Not bad, you’re learning to report in now? Next time, do it proactively. But there’s still one thing I’m not quite happy about.”
“What? What is it?”
“You’re my girlfriend. More than being a bother, I’m afraid you won’t tell me things. It makes me feel like I might not be a good girlfriend, like I’m not taking care of your thoughts and feelings in time. In a relationship, it shouldn’t just be you looking out for me. I should know everything about you too.”
“Of course, there might be times when I’m not around, but having the right to know is better than hiding things. It could save us a lot of unnecessary misunderstandings and emotional drain.”
Lin Ruocheng smiled as she warmed Fu Yanxi’s hands, then pulled a heated hand warmer from her own clothes and placed it in Fu Yanxi’s palm.
Instantly, the warmth from the hand warmer spread from her palms throughout her body.
“Fu Yanxi, you can try to let go of the burdens you carry when you’re with me. You can show weakness and learn to rely on me. I’m here for you. There’s no need for you to shoulder everything alone. Think about it, if you’re getting an IV, I can hold the bag for you. If you need to use the restroom, I can help. It’s all possible.”
“So… does my little ice block understand now?”
Lin Ruocheng interlaced their fingers, and in her pocket, the once-cold hands gradually grew warm.
Fu Yanxi was infected by her smile and smiled back.
She still had many habits to change.
“Eww, so cheesy~~~”
Song Wanqing couldn’t help but speak up from the side.
She felt goosebumps all over.
Is this how bystanders react when watching people in love?
But when she and Yu Qiuli were together, there were no such voices or reactions from those around them.
Could it be that no one was invested in her relationship with Yu Qiuli?
Even though human-AI relationships might lack romance, they’re still amusing, right?
Lin Ruocheng shot her a glare.
“President and Vice President, I won’t walk with you two, I don’t want to be the third wheel. I’ll head off first!”
Although Song Wanqing’s experience with romance was lacking, she had a keen sense of reading the room. She quickly scurried away.
It was almost laughable. As the president and vice president of the student council, those two could come and go as they pleased, and being late wasn’t an issue. But she was just an ordinary member, she had to be punctual.
Of course, there was another important reason: she was going to meet her girlfriend! Even if they did nothing and said nothing, just being able to look at her was enough. Who would want to stay and be the brightest lightbulb here?
“Let’s go.”
“Alright.”
The two of them also headed toward the office.
…
The student council meeting was straightforward. The theme for the school anniversary had been decided, and even the program list was set. Now, it was all about the arrangements.
The only thing left undecided was the segment specifically assigned by the homeroom teacher to the two of them. A few minutes were left blank on the program list for that.
Somehow, the teacher’s decision felt oddly familiar, it reminded her of the middle school homeroom teacher who had signed Fu Yanxi up for the women’s 3,000-meter race. It didn’t seem like the teacher was considering their strengths but was purely picking them based on their looks.
The banners were already made, and there weren’t many things left to prepare. The problem was, under the homeroom teacher’s arrangement, the two of them were also assigned to host the school anniversary, it was just adding to the chaos.
The teacher’s explanation to them was, “With great power comes great responsibility.”
Lin Ruocheng didn’t buy it at all. But the homeroom teacher refused to admit that she had chosen them because their faces were perfect for representing the school’s image.
Fu Yanxi had no objections. Though she was busy, this little extra task wasn’t a big deal. There was no other choice, they just had to put in the effort. What else could they do? It wasn’t like they could just skip it.
“Brown sugar water.”
Fu Yanxi handed over a thermos, a few red goji berries floating on top. The scent of brown sugar was pleasant, and a faint steam rose from it. She knew Lin Ruocheng didn’t like things too sweet, so she had chosen a less sugary brown sugar.
Lin Ruocheng slumped over the desk, unable to bear it any longer. She was listening, but only half-heartedly, occasionally murmuring in agreement. She didn’t like taking painkillers, it was just ordinary menstrual pain, nothing that required medication. Still, it was uncomfortable. Her lips had even turned a little pale.
Fu Yanxi passed her the brown sugar water. Lin Ruocheng took a small sip before slumping back onto the desk.
Fu Yanxi watched, her heart aching.
“Can I massage it for you?”
“Mhm.”
Lin Ruocheng moved her chair closer to Fu Yanxi. Fu Yanxi rubbed her palms together to warm them, then slipped her hand under Lin Ruocheng’s clothes, placing her palm gently on her lower abdomen and massaging in soft circles.
She knew Lin Ruocheng would come to her. This girl was ambitious, otherwise, she wouldn’t be managing her company while also planning to expand into the gaming industry. Her family wasn’t short on money, but even during the National Day holiday, she was busy every night.
A few student council members at the front were sharing their opinions. Lin Ruocheng scribbled notes in her notebook, jotting down the others’ suggestions and marking what needed to be revised after the meeting.
Leaning against Fu Yanxi, she accepted the care being offered. Even the strongest person has moments of weakness.
Most members of the student council were aware that the two of them were dating, so they weren’t particularly surprised, just found it quite novel.
Especially when it came to Fu Yanxi.
After all, this person had turned down numerous confessions and even claimed to dislike both boys and girls.
Everyone had assumed Fu Yanxi was destined to be single for life.
Who would have thought she’d end up with the flamboyant campus belle?
Their personalities seemed utterly mismatched.
How could two people at complete extremes possibly come together?
It was truly baffling.
