- I Helped My Best Friend with Her Romance—and Fell for the Enemy’s Strategist
- Chapter 49 - You Are My Original Heart
This island was actually a tourism project developed by the Fu family. Every summer, countless tourists flocked here, drawn to its reputation as a pristine leisure resort with unpolluted blue skies and clear waters.
On the island stood a poolside hotel for accommodations.
Also owned by the Fu family.
Thanks to Fu Yanxi’s prior arrangements, the five of them were allocated three rooms.
Especially during such a peak tourist season, securing three rooms was already quite an achievement.
After collecting the key cards from the front desk, they took the elevator and found their respective rooms.
Lin Ruocheng opened the door and inserted the key card into the slot.
Instantly, the room’s layout unfolded before their eyes.
A large circular bed, adorned with rose petals arranged in the shape of the word “love,” greeted them. Not only that, the bathroom was entirely enclosed in transparent glass, making every fixture inside visible. The balcony featured several beach chairs and a crystal-clear swimming pool. Beside the indoor pool stood a few trees, creating a distinctly resort-like atmosphere.
But the room… seemed a little unconventional.
The circular bed was partially shielded by a white screen, adding to the ambiance.
“Xixi, you’re not exactly playing fair, are you~”
Lin Ruocheng teased.
She didn’t mind the idea of more intimate contact, after all, there was nothing illegal about being intimate with her girlfriend. She just hadn’t expected Fu Yanxi to be so… romantic?
Had she specifically chosen a couples’ room?
Despite her innocent and aloof appearance, which didn’t seem like the type to scheme, it turned out she had a mischievous side.
“No… I didn’t book this kind of room.”
Fu Yanxi quickly called the hotel manager.
She and Lin Ruocheng had only been dating for a few days, and now they were in a room like this.
It was hard not to let the imagination run wild.
She definitely wasn’t that kind of person.
The hotel manager promptly apologized. When she learned that the young Miss Fu had requested three rooms for five people, she was surprised. After all, the young Miss Fu rarely went out for leisure trips. This was even the first time she had received a call from her. Assuming it was two couples and one third wheel, the manager had directly booked couples’ rooms.
During the summer peak season, couples’ rooms were in high demand, so she had reserved three of them without a second thought.
Fu Yanxi couldn’t really blame the manager.
It was indeed two couples and one third wheel. The only difference was that she and Lin Ruocheng hadn’t been dating for long. Putting them in such a room so soon was admittedly inappropriate.
“Chengzi… I…”
“It’s fine, I know you didn’t do it on purpose. Even if you did, I’d still like it.”
Lin Ruocheng reassured her. Why was she so nervous?
It was just sharing a room to sleep in.
She seemed so flustered she could barely walk straight.
Lin Ruocheng loved the indoor pool, especially since it was already quite late.
The pool was brightly lit, while outside, darkness had fallen.
Coupled with the dappled shadows of the trees, the atmosphere was simply enchanting.
“This place is nice. No need to contact the hotel for a change.”
Lin Ruocheng suddenly wrapped her arms around Fu Yanxi’s waist from behind, pressing against her back.
Listening to the steady rhythm of the other’s heartbeat, she felt completely at ease.
“Besides, those two lovebirds are probably even more shy than we are. This might just give them a chance to get closer.”
“I think it’s perfect. They’ve been dating for ten months and haven’t even kissed. How pitiful is that~”
“Is it really that pitiful? More pitiful than me secretly loving someone for seven years without any response?”
The voice actor’s words carried a hint of grievance.
Like a pitiful little puppy.
“Uh… don’t say that. These things aren’t comparable. Anyway, you’ve already won the beauty’s heart, haven’t you? You should be considered the MVP.”
“Let me ask you, did you become a voice actor because you liked me? Did you want to forcefully invade my life?”
“Sort of.”
“What do you mean, ‘sort of’? Is it yes or no?”
Lin Ruocheng was like a child digging for the truth.
This person always spoke so ambiguously, couldn’t she just be direct?
If she had been straightforward, maybe the two of them would have fallen for each other long ago.
After all, over the years, many boys and girls had confessed their feelings to her.
There were plenty of good-looking “model-level” people too.
Some even had beautiful hands, but there was just no spark.
Perhaps if she had confessed back then, Lin Ruocheng wouldn’t have taken her seriously either.
“Yes.”
Fu Yanxi suddenly leaned in and said that definitive word with utmost seriousness.
Especially since she deliberately pushed her glasses up with her index finger.
So restrained, so proper!!!
Yet such a proper person had privately booked such an improper hotel.
I absolutely love it.
There’s no helping it, I just love this type: seemingly prim and proper on the surface, but utterly improper behind the scenes.
That kind of contrast easily sends hormones soaring.
Lin Ruocheng felt her heart racing wildly.
Oh no, it seems I like her even more now. What should I do?
Fu Yanxi did not deny it, her original motivation for becoming a voice actor was Lin Ruocheng.
She knew that even if she confessed, her chances would be slim.
Like many others, she would likely receive her own personalized “good person card.”
She didn’t want that. She wanted to be with her.
She wanted to make her happy.
She also wanted to find an answer to the equation between herself and Lin Ruocheng, not just an infinite approach to zero.
She had no choice but to take an alternative path. Since she couldn’t make her like her, she would use her voice to forcefully invade every corner of her life. The voice that greeted her when she opened popular video apps was hers; the lead roles in hit yuri audio dramas were hers; the voices of female leads in TV dramas and movies were hers; commercial voice-overs, video game characters… all were her. Surely, Lin Ruocheng would like at least one of these voices.
Lin Ruocheng was, in fact, somewhat of a voice connoisseur.
Whenever she heard a voice she liked, she would ask around about the voice actor behind it. Fu Yanxi had thought that Lin Ruocheng would eventually find her, and then she would confess.
But Lin Ruocheng only looked into it briefly before setting it aside, paying no further attention and giving up.
Left with no other option, Fu Yanxi worked even harder at voice acting, tailoring her performances to the kinds of voices Lin Ruocheng liked.
She strived to pique her interest. In fact, the decision for the voice actor “Xi Liu” to reveal her face was also meant to draw Lin Ruocheng out. She thought that if she showed her face, Lin Ruocheng, as her fan, would surely appear.
By cloaking herself in the aura of a voice actor, perhaps Lin Ruocheng would grow to like her.
Unexpectedly, it actually worked.
She watched as Lin Ruocheng began to take an interest in her, slowly falling for her.
Only, this affection was something she had secretly snatched away.
A plan that had taken a full seven years to execute.
She was not a good person. To Lin Ruocheng, she was a villain.
A villain who wanted to give her happiness but had secretly schemed for many years.
“I never imagined you’ve been planning for so long. But have you considered what if I still don’t feel interested in you? What if I still don’t develop feelings for you? Wouldn’t all your planning be in vain?”
Tears glistened at the corners of Fu Yanxi’s eyes.
Her eye rims were slightly reddened.
“I have thought about it. If it still doesn’t work out, I would choose to bless you and your future girlfriend, content to watch your happiness from afar. I just hope that when that time comes, you’d allow me to be a guest at your future wedding.”
