- Chapter 29 - Feeling Like I Struck Gold
When Song Wanqing and Yu Qiuli returned, they saw one person with lowered head and red ears, while the other calmly drank water. They couldn’t help but feel they had missed something important. What had happened between these two? Had they kissed? Or had Lin Ruocheng said something she shouldn’t have, flustering Fu Yanxi to this extent?
“We ordered a few things casually. Let us know if there’s anything else you’d like,” Yu Qiuli said, gently nudging Fu Yanxi.
Fu Yanxi subtly brushed her arm away.
Since when had she developed such a sense of personal space?
It wasn’t like her at all! And these two weren’t even officially dating yet, was her best friend no longer important?
Was this what they called “abandoning friends for love”?
Besides, weren’t they just in a simulated relationship?
Even if Fu Yanxi had harbored feelings for Lin Ruocheng for so long, she was still her childhood best friend.
Was she already being cast aside so quickly? Well, maybe it wasn’t that quick.
“You two decide. We’re fine with anything and don’t have many dietary restrictions,” Lin Ruocheng said, taking a sip of water with a calm expression, as if nothing had happened.
After all, she was the one who had initiated the kiss, even if it was just a brief peck on the cheek. Still, she found it surprisingly intriguing.
She couldn’t quite describe the feeling, but it left her wanting more, and she didn’t understand why.
She had never felt this way before.
Even when hanging out with other girls, she had always been carefree and straightforward, though that didn’t mean she would casually undress in front of others or kiss anyone without reason.
She had always been mindful of boundaries, especially in such matters. She had never felt this way about any other girl.
Was it just because of that kiss? But could it even be considered a kiss? It was more like an accidental brush, right?
Song Wanqing knew Lin Ruocheng well enough to sense that something had definitely happened between the two. Otherwise, Lin Ruocheng wouldn’t be acting like this.
“Alright then, let’s eat. We can always order more if it’s not enough,” Yu Qiuli said, motioning for Song Wanqing to sit beside her. Song Wanqing obediently took her seat, clearly showing signs of being a future “henpecked husband” candidate.
Lin Ruocheng hadn’t forgotten their mission: the main reason for this outing was to help these two lovebirds and give their relationship a little push. “Why are you two sitting so far apart? Move closer,” she urged.
The two exchanged a glance and inched closer, seemingly even shyer than she and Fu Yanxi. In comparison, she and Fu Yanxi were doing just fine.
When Fu Yanxi lifted her head, aside from her slightly red ears, her expression remained unchanged. However, upon closer inspection, one could faintly see a light lipstick mark on her cheek, so faint that it was barely noticeable unless one looked carefully.
“Come on, you two have been together for over half a year. Why are you still keeping it from us? So what if you don’t know how to date? Just be open about it, it’s not like we wouldn’t help you. If we hadn’t found out, were you planning to hide it forever? We’ve been childhood friends with you two, after all,” Lin Ruocheng said bluntly, as was her usual straightforward and unreserved style.
Especially since these two, as best friends and childhood companions, actually ended up together, and didn’t tell me or Fu Yanxi?
Isn’t that a bit inappropriate?
What do they take me and Fu Yanxi for?
Honestly, I would only wish them well and would never try to persuade them to break up.
Both Fu Yanxi and I are science students.
Even though we’re in science, our logic is still pretty sharp.
Did they really think they could keep it from us?
What were they thinking?
It’s not like my head is filled with water.
Song Wanqing had no idea; she thought she had hidden it quite well.
She never expected that Lin Ruocheng had known all along.
This must be what they mean by “playing dumb while fully aware.” No wonder this friend of mine was the top science student in the college entrance exams.
Her intelligence and IQ are both exceptionally high.
I wonder just how much she actually knows?
Could she even know about Fu Yanxi’s secret crush on her?
“Um…”
Song Wanqing opened her mouth to speak but was stopped when Yu Qiuli patted her leg.
After all, this was Yu Qiuli’s idea; it had little to do with Song Wanqing.
There was no need for Song Wanqing to take the blame for her.
“It’s fine, we’re not going to oppose you two, really. But you’ve been together for so long and haven’t even kissed? If you don’t know how to date, that’s okay, Fu Yanxi and I can teach you. But it’s just pretending to be a couple, not the real thing. Some things you’ll still have to figure out on your own…”
The hot pot arrived.
It was a split pot, along with plenty of vegetables and beef slices.
It looked like a generous portion, and it seemed pretty good.
Just managing to get a table felt almost unbelievable, we were really lucky.
Yu Qiuli and Song Wanqing exchanged glances.
It seemed Lin Ruocheng still didn’t know the most crucial detail…
“Alright, what are you looking at? Wanqing, take the initiative and put some meat and veggies your partner likes into the pot. Use the serving chopsticks!”
Lin Ruocheng urged them.
What were these two staring at?
Were they trying to flaunt their relationship in front of me?
Even if they were, it wouldn’t matter, except this “flaunting” had no flavor at all.
These two just didn’t know how to show affection proactively.
“Oh, okay.”
Fu Yanxi was busy on the side too, putting some ingredients into the pot for Lin Ruocheng.
She also fished out the cooked food and placed it on a plate.
Lin Ruocheng was quite satisfied.
If Fu Yanxi ever got into a relationship, she would definitely make a wonderful girlfriend.
She was uncommonly considerate.
But I still wonder who her secret crush is?
I’m getting more and more curious.
A modeling genius, and yet so attentive.
Even though we’re only pretending to be in a relationship, I’m already receiving such thoughtful care.
It’s really quite nice.
“Eat a bit more… Shrimp won’t make you gain weight…”
Fu Yanxi earnestly began peeling shrimp for her, making sure each one was perfectly clean.
The lines on her forearm were smooth and well-defined.
They looked strong, frankly, a little enticing.
Oh no, now I want to kiss her even more. What should I do?
Ever since I started interacting with Fu Yanxi, I’ve always felt like touching her or getting close.
I really enjoy seeing her shy reactions.
She’s naturally so innocent, especially with that face of hers that looks so well-behaved around me.
It feels different from other girls.
“It’s okay… Xiao Xixi, you eat too… Here, open your mouth… Ah~”
Lin Ruocheng also held a peeled shrimp to the other’s lips, her voice softening noticeably.
It sounded almost like she was coquettishly teasing. Using these hands to peel shrimp felt like a waste.
Better to leave such laborious tasks to me.
These hands are truly meant to be cherished, they’re absolute treasures.
She realized she might have a slight hand fetish now, as her hands were genuinely exquisite.
Fu Yanxi opened her mouth and accepted the shrimp offered by the other.
Lin Ruocheng felt as if she had stumbled upon a hidden gem. Who would have thought that a fake relationship would lead her to someone with such flawless, sculpted features?
Especially since she was so obedient, almost unbearably so.
It made her want to pin her down and tease her mercilessly.
