- I Helped My Best Friend with Her Romance—and Fell for the Enemy’s Strategist
- Chapter 13 - Never Dated
Song Wanqing opened her mouth but still felt that this approach probably wasn’t suitable for her and Yu Qiuli.
Mainly, it was just too embarrassing, who acts like that when meeting their crush for the first time?
Shouldn’t one be a bit more reserved?
The lights in the cinema suddenly dimmed, and the two straightened up, ready to start watching the movie.
Lin Ruocheng noticed the movie was about to begin and also fell silent.
She sat up straight.
She had already watched a review of this romance film before, so she wasn’t particularly interested in seeing it now.
Her enthusiasm was rather low.
Besides, couples who came to watch romance films weren’t just there for the movie, most of them were there to cuddle, hug, and kiss.
She knew that all too well.
And even though she was good at flirting, she was also all talk.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t still be single after all this time.
If she weren’t, she’d probably have dated several people by now.
But so far, she hadn’t met anyone she fancied.
“Tired? Want to take a nap?”
Fu Yanxi leaned closer to her and patted her own shoulder.
She realized she really liked the other person’s scent, a light citrus fragrance.
It was fresh, with a hint of the sweet and sour aroma of oranges.
Lin Ruocheng glanced over, then leaned close to her ear and whispered softly.
“Better not. The student council president’s partner might get jealous~”
Fu Yanxi was taken aback.
Then she explained.
“I don’t have a partner. I’ve never dated.”
The other person spoke quite seriously, but why was she telling her this?
She didn’t care whether Fu Yanxi had dated or not, she only enjoyed the thrill of ambiguity.
Besides, the main reason she’d gotten involved with the student council was because of Song Wanqing. If not for her, she wouldn’t have joined the student council at all.
She wouldn’t even have signed up for something like sports dance. All she wanted was to be an ordinary college student, wasn’t that better?
And she had no intention of dating either.
“Oh~ Never dated, huh?”
Lin Ruocheng snickered to herself. She had originally thought the other person’s “strategist” was a love expert.
Turns out, she hadn’t even had a single real experience?
Of course, neither had she.
But even if she hadn’t tasted pork, she’d at least seen a pig run.
She knew a thing or two about dating techniques. Besides, wasn’t ambiguity better?
What was the point of dating?
Dating would only lower your IQ.
It would just slow down your reflexes.
Fu Yanxi was caught off guard by the other’s sudden teasing. Those narrow, peach-blossom eyes of hers…
They were captivating, especially when the corners lifted slightly.
No wonder she was a regular on the confession wall.
She was truly alluring, like a piece of orange-flavored candy.
She exuded a faint, youthful fragrance, suggesting she probably didn’t wear perfume often.
“Have you dated?”
Her voice was cold, as if it had just been taken out of the fridge.
The atmosphere grew heavy, and her voice matched her appearance.
Both were icy.
Lin Ruocheng spread her hands.
“No, I’m not the type to jump into things. Why would I date? If it weren’t for Song Wanqing, I wouldn’t have joined the student council, let alone signed up for sports dance with you. It’s too late to regret it now.”
“Never dated? Then I…”
“You what? I’m tired, gonna take a nap. Wake me if you need anything, otherwise, dismissed~”
Since the movie wasn’t worth watching anyway, she might as well take advantage of the situation and get some proper sleep.
Even if she wanted to play strategist, the cinema was crowded.
She didn’t want to be rude.
Talking would disturb others’ viewing experience, so she pulled down her cap brim.
Closing her eyes to seek a rendezvous with the Sandman.
Fu Yanxi glanced at her and, noticing her sleeping head about to lean on the shoulder of the man beside her, promptly reached out and pulled her back, letting her rest on his own shoulder instead. Lin Ruocheng didn’t wake up, truth be told, she was a heavy sleeper, and a little noise wouldn’t rouse her at all.
Lin Ruocheng still had a bit of baby fat on her face.
Plump and tender.
Every now and then, she’d let out a soft murmur, enough to melt anyone’s heart.
From this angle, Lin Ruocheng actually looked quite adorable.
Her heartbeat seemed inexplicably faster than before.
The movie lasted an hour and a half.
Lin Ruocheng slept on Fu Yanxi’s shoulder for the entire duration.
Song Wanqing hadn’t heard a peep from Lin Ruocheng the whole time. Only when the lights came back on did she finally spot her.
Lin Ruocheng was fast asleep, leaning against Fu Yanxi.
And Fu Yanxi didn’t dare move an inch.
She was frozen in place, afraid that even the slightest shift would wake her.
“Chengzi, Chengzi, wake up. It’s time to go.”
Under Song Wanqing’s relentless prodding, Lin Ruocheng finally stirred, still a bit dazed from sleep.
She followed the other three out of the cinema, still clutching her half-finished cup of coffee. It seemed caffeine wasn’t doing the trick anymore.
She’d be better off sticking to tea.
“President Yanxi, I’m sorry. Why didn’t you wake me? You let me lean on you for over an hour?”
Lin Ruocheng yawned. She was a night owl, prone to staying up late and catching up on sleep during the day.
Her schedule fit right in with the average college student, especially since she sometimes worked as a game reviewer at night.
Even without playing matchmaker for her best friend, she was plenty busy, so busy she hardly seemed like a college student.
“It’s fine. You can lean on me. The guy sitting next to you was an older man who’d been staring at you from the start. I’d rather you lean on me than on some stranger. Besides, we’re friends, aren’t we?”
Lin Ruocheng laughed.
Fu Yanxi was being pretty direct, was she already making moves?
Good thing she’d been asleep. If she’d been awake and chatting with her, Song Wanqing might not have even started dating yet, and she’d probably already have a girlfriend herself.
“Yes, we’re friends.”
The two matchmakers exchanged glances. How had they gotten so close?
It was already dark outside.
A glance at the time showed it was almost 7 p.m.
Lin Ruocheng had already reserved a restaurant, a well-rated spot not far from the cinema. She’d booked a private room according to Yu Qiuli’s preferences.
Pulling Song Wanqing aside to a secluded corner, Lin Ruocheng said, “You go on your own later. I have something to do tonight. You need to learn to handle your own love life, okay? I can’t be by your side all the time. I can give you advice now and then, but the main effort has to come from you.”
Song Wanqing was a bit reluctant, but she knew Lin Ruocheng was right.
She had to learn to navigate romance on her own.
Lin Ruocheng felt like a fussy old mother, constantly worrying.
After the two left, Lin Ruocheng decided to walk back to campus.
Fu Yanxi walked alongside her.
She didn’t say a word, simply keeping her company.
“Sis, why haven’t you been answering my calls? And who’s this… new sister-in-law?”
Lin Shuyi looked back and forth between the two of them.
Hmm, not bad looking, definitely meets her family’s standards for being appearance-conscious.
This must be her new sister-in-law, right?
She’s quite tall, too.
Lin Ruocheng glanced at her twin sister. To be precise, she couldn’t tell at first glance.
Hesitantly, a phrase came to mind.
“Black Whirlwind Li Kui?”
“Sis! You’re my own sister! Who in the world compares their own sister to Li Kui?”
