I Heard That I am a HeartBreaker - Chapter 107
Xin Zhu knew exactly who the owner of that surveillance camera was, and who was watching from behind it—it was Lu Chen, that freak who loved planting tracking devices.
Even though, for the moment, the relationship between them could hardly be called “love rivals”—after all, in the eyes of the world, one was the legitimate partner and the other was the mistress; essentially, they held a relationship akin to superior and subordinate.
Lu Chen was supposed to be the one who couldn’t see the light of day in front of Xin Zhu. However, emotions were a different story. Now, the scene seemed to have flipped; Xin Zhu had become the one hidden in the shadows.
But as the legitimate partner, for that last remaining shred of dignity, Xin Zhu felt she had the right to launch an attack against the other woman.
Even if all of this was obtained through calculation, and even if it was all fake—if, in the end, she couldn’t even hold onto a lie, it would be a bit too pathetic.
Xin Zhu was Qiu Shuang’s girlfriend in name, wasn’t she? Why shouldn’t she be allowed to enter the inner sanctum?
Xin Zhu looked down at her phone. The message sent by the other person in the chat box made her laugh. She knew she wasn’t the only one harboring such malicious thoughts.
Qi Sijiao: We need to have a serious talk.
Xin Zhu closed her eyes. She didn’t know who would eventually seize the fruits of victory, but she had learned one truth: some things simply had to be stolen.
Therefore, she was going to shed all her camouflaged skin and begin to reveal her most basic, primal core.
Everyone knows that in the animal kingdom, if an animal wants to win the final right to mate, it must pay with time, blood, and battle. Everything, in the end, boils down to plunder.
“Lu Chen, just you wait.”
Xin Zhu looked up at that window and smiled. Finally, she turned and headed upstairs. Her room was directly opposite Qiu Shuang’s, right across the way in the facing building.
The house Qi Sijiao rented was also nearby. She had originally wanted to buy the entire building, but a group of people had tripped her up, and she hadn’t succeeded. Qi Sijiao had set a time and place to negotiate with Xin Zhu. Although she loathed the woman, in this situation, it was better to form an alliance.
The situation was very clear: No matter what, Chen Wanjun and Song Ya were in one camp; Gu Lingxi and Chen Jining were independent entities; as for Lu Chen… Qi Sijiao didn’t want to admit it, but the woman seemed to be in the same camp as the Senior.
Qi Sijiao stood at the door waiting for her. She looked down on Xin Zhu, but she had to admit one fact.
Xin Zhu was an utter lunatic, and Qi Sijiao had no idea what kind of insane things the woman might do.
Xin Zhu arrived early, but she didn’t go up. She simply waited quietly to observe Qi Sijiao’s reaction. Partnering with this idiot wasn’t Xin Zhu’s first choice, but Qi Sijiao’s stupidity and resources were rare assets. Xin Zhu was calculating the cost-effectiveness of this cooperation; then she reconsidered—this idiot was the easiest among the group to deceive and the most suitable to serve as a scapegoat.
She wasn’t the most valuable, but at least it wouldn’t be a losing trade.
Xin Zhu saw her figure—Qi Sijiao’s tall silhouette standing deep within the doorway. Her expression turned normal in an instant, but the disgust in her eyes couldn’t be completely masked.
Xin Zhu was dying of laughter inside. To think this person still looked down on her; as expected, she was just as pathetic as she had been in the past.
Qi Sijiao watched the other woman come upstairs. She had never taken her seriously, yet currently, Xin Zhu was, in a sense, a level above her. After all, the woman had secured the title of “girlfriend,” while Qi Sijiao had nothing left but a few pieces of clothing.
That’s how people are: once you possess even a little bit, you can’t wait to have more; you expect to obtain even greater beauties.
“Come in.”
Qi Sijiao dropped a pair of slippers and went inside without looking back. Xin Zhu looked at her back and smiled. She had already decided how she would retaliate against this person who looked down on her once their pitiful alliance dissolved.
The two sat in the living room. Xin Zhu surveyed the surroundings. Perhaps for convenience, the other woman had bought a second-hand house; the interior decoration didn’t suit her personality at all—it was cold and lacked any warmth.
“Oh, what’s this? Is it because you can’t catch up to Qiu Shuang that you’ve turned into this… thing that’s neither human nor ghost?”
Xin Zhu didn’t hesitate to mock Qi Sijiao. She had at least obtained a fake title. The other woman had originally been “the pavilion closest to the water,” enjoying such a great geographical advantage with Qiu Shuang, yet she had gained nothing. Truly a good-for-nothing waste.
“And what about me? Right, the title is under your name. The important thing is that I might have an excuse, but what about you? Xin Zhu, you got a nominal identity only to let someone else live under the same roof as Qiu Shuang. I really don’t understand what the rest of us were doing. To think I actually treated Lu Chen like the Senior’s good friend before—now it seems that old woman is really good at acting.”
Xin Zhu looked at her, not understanding why she would call a woman the same age as Qiu Shuang an “old woman.” She was somewhat aware of Qi Sijiao’s double standards but said nothing. In Xin Zhu’s eyes, the more Qi Sijiao fell apart, the better; it would perfectly highlight her own “noble” conduct.
Unfortunately… she had performed a bit too quickly, or rather, Xin Zhu had been a bit too impatient. She had been momentarily influenced, deceived by Qiu Shuang’s appearance. For a brief moment at the start, Xin Zhu truly believed the woman was ordinary, so she was skilled at using the same old tricks for plunder. However, reality proved that Qiu Shuang was just like her—a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
The other woman was perhaps even stronger because she was better at pretending; she had even stolen a heart. Xin Zhu couldn’t imagine the sort of antagonistic life they would lead if they actually stayed together. Thinking of this, she revealed a somewhat twisted smile.
Seeing that smile, Qi Sijiao knew exactly what she was thinking. “Know yourself and know your enemy, and you will never be defeated.” In the years they had targeted each other, they had come to understand one another. Qi Sijiao offered no comment on the other’s inexplicable smile.
To be honest, before this, she had always regarded the other woman as some kind of deviant creature or someone with a mental illness—someone whose brain had malfunctioned. Qi Sijiao thought about her upbringing in the orphanage; perhaps her biological family was just like that, which was why Xin Zhu was so crazy.
“I’m not in the mood. The most important thing now is how to get that old woman away from here. Put that damn smile away and stop fantasizing about the Senior in front of me, or I’ll knock your teeth out.”
Xin Zhu looked at Qi Sijiao. To some extent, she realized the other woman wasn’t that smart—or rather, she only had one advantage. If Xin Zhu were under the same roof as Qiu Shuang, it certainly wouldn’t be this relaxed. To not plot in advance was to surrender one’s own advantage.
“Oh, feel free to hit me. Anyway, after you hit me, I’ll go straight to the Senior. In the eyes of the public, the title between us still holds the moral high ground. And once Qiu Shuang discovers you’re a violent person, you won’t have a single chance left. Who knows if someone like you would commit domestic violence after getting with the Senior?”
Qi Sijiao was about to curse her out, but before her brain could react, she suddenly thought of those things. If the Senior were kneeling on the ground, covering her face, begging her not to… for a split second, Qi Sijiao found herself shamefully aroused.
Qi Sijiao had never imagined she would have such twisted thoughts. She turned back to look at the other woman, nipping that thought in the bud. She liked the Senior so much—how could she hurt her? How could she do such a thing!
Xin Zhu watched as Qi Sijiao, who was about to trade insults with her, suddenly went quiet and her face turned red. With a bit of thought, she guessed she had unlocked some rather unusual attributes in her companion.
However, Xin Zhu didn’t have the heart to care about her teammate’s quirks. she only knew one thing: she just needed to step over the other person. As for anything else, what did it matter?
Aside from herself, no one else was important.
Xin Zhu looked at her. She wondered: if Lu Chen got with someone else, could Qiu Shuang really be completely indifferent? As for who she was with, how they were together, or whether Lu Chen liked it—none of that mattered.
Xin Zhu didn’t believe that Qiu Shuang, who had always insisted on “pure love,” could simply let this go so easily.
“I have a plan. As long as we get Lu Chen to be with someone else, the problem will be solved. I believe the Senior wouldn’t want her property to be ‘contaminated.’ People who get dirty are discarded…”
Qi Sijiao thought Xin Zhu had a hole in her head. Did a stupid question like this even need to be asked? Did she think she hadn’t considered that? The crux of the issue was that Lu Chen would never be with anyone else.
Even though Qi Sijiao hated her, she believed the woman wouldn’t be crazy enough to just get with someone else. The sheer horror of such an event was on par with Xin Zhu suddenly confessing her love to Qi Sijiao.
“Have you been drinking? Lu Chen being with someone else? If she were that easily swayed, would I even need to find you? I could have solved all the problems myself.”
Xin Zhu smiled. She knew what the other woman said was true. But did she need Lu Chen to agree? Did she need Lu Chen to actually fall in love with someone else?
What Xin Zhu wanted was that simple. If that person didn’t exist, she would create them. If there was no opportunity, she would manufacture one.
“We could pay for a woman, and then, you know…”
Hearing Xin Zhu say this, Qi Sijiao was even more unimpressed. She didn’t know Lu Chen well, but from her observations, the woman seemed quite like a “gentleman”—or rather, very cold and aloof. Even if they found a world-class heartbreaker, Qi Sijiao felt there was no way they could seduce her.
“You’re underestimating her. Since she can stand before the Senior, she must have some merits. The Senior isn’t someone who is swayed by mere beauty, so the person she likes is likely the same. Your method’s efficiency probably isn’t great; it feels like it would just be adding fuel to their romance.”
Xin Zhu looked at her. Sometimes, she really envied the other woman’s simplicity and personality. Right, they weren’t studying the same method. Qi Sijiao was thinking of a “romance scammer,” but Xin Zhu didn’t want something so low-efficiency. Arrange for someone to dig at the wall? It would be better to just drug them, get them into bed, and take a photo. That would be far more effective.
Xin Zhu understood Qiu Shuang’s mindset very well. For Qiu Shuang, Lu Chen was like a cake in a glass display case—one she didn’t have the money or the price to buy. If that cake were bitten by someone else first… Xin Zhu didn’t believe the other woman wouldn’t care, because they were the same kind of person.
Qiu Shuang might not completely give up on her because of it, but she would certainly become hysterical. When that happened, the stage would belong to them.
