I Heard I’m a Scummy Alpha? [Transmigration] - Chapter 82
Qi Yunwei drove quickly to Guangnan First Hospital. When she arrived, Yan Zhao and Yan Zui were already inside the doctor’s office.
She knocked and entered, just in time to hear the doctor saying:
“You’re still young, and it’s been less than half a year since you married. It’s perfectly normal not to be pregnant yet. If you’re worried, we can do a full physical examination to rule out other causes. That way, if anything is found, treatment can begin early.”
“Dad, why didn’t you tell me you were coming to the hospital?” Qi Yunwei walked over to Yan Zui’s side, gently taking her hand and giving it a reassuring squeeze.
Yan Zhao, sitting with a dark expression, suppressed his anger as he said, “Yunwei, you and Yan Zui should both do a full check-up. Bring the results to me at home once they’re ready.”
With that, he rose and left.
So, he really only cares about a grandchild.
Qi Yunwei softly rubbed the top of Yan Zui’s head, then politely asked the doctor, “Doctor, do I need to register separately?”
The doctor shook his head. “We have couple accounts here. You can share one. I’ll set it up for you.”
He ordered a full examination for both of them. “You’re VIP clients, so you’ll have priority for all tests. You can go directly for the examinations.”
Noticing Yan Zui’s cold expression, the doctor tried to comfort her: “Pregnancy isn’t something you can rush. Your father is probably just eager for a grandchild. That’s how older folks are—don’t let it weigh too heavily on you.”
Yan Zui replied flatly, “Thank you, but he’s my father, not my father-in-law.”
The doctor let out a startled “Ah,” clearly not expecting a biological father to pressure his own daughter so harshly about children.
In over a decade of practice, he’d mostly seen the Alpha’s family being the anxious ones.
Qi Yunwei and Yan Zui went from department to department, finishing every test. By then, half the day had passed. The results wouldn’t be ready until five in the afternoon, so they went back to Yunmengze, had lunch cooked by Xiao Jiu, and later Qi Yunwei accompanied Yan Zui to Yan Corporation to handle work.
That evening, they returned to the hospital to collect their reports, then drove straight to the Yan family’s hillside villa to meet Yan Zhao.
As they stepped out of the car, He Ran came quickly toward them. She glanced at Yan Zui, opened her mouth as if to speak but said nothing, then smiled at Qi Yunwei instead. “Did the results come out?”
Qi Yunwei had noticed her earlier, waiting outside in the cold wind in just a coat. At first she thought He Ran was worried for Yan Zui—but no, it was still all about pregnancy.
Her own daughter was right there. Why only care about an unborn, imaginary child?
Qi Yunwei frowned slightly and stopped Yan Zui from handing over the report. “Mom, let’s go inside and talk.”
He Ran was surprised by Qi Yunwei’s intervention, giving her a puzzled look. “Then take it in and show your father together.”
The three entered the living room. Yan Zhao, sitting on the sofa, barely lifted his gaze. “The results?”
Qi Yunwei answered calmly, “Both of us are perfectly healthy. There are no problems.”
Yan Zhao scowled at Yan Zui. “No problems? Married half a year with no pregnancy, and you call that ‘no problems’? The doctors are all quacks!”
With Alpha–Omega unions having such high fertility rates, he flat-out refused to believe their bodies were fine yet still childless.
“Your cousin just started dating a girl who’s a PhD in medicine, specializing in Omega reproductive health. She’ll be back from overseas soon. On New Year’s Day, your aunt’s family will come by. Have her take a look at you.” Yan Zhao spoke in his usual domineering tone, leaving no room for argument.
Yan Zui lowered her eyes, her expression frosty, and said nothing.
Qi Yunwei set the reports down on the coffee table. “Dad, Mom, here are the results. We’ll be back on New Year’s Day. Since there’s nothing wrong, we’ll be leaving now.”
She took Yan Zui’s hand and turned to go.
Watching their retreating backs, Yan Zhao jabbed a finger in their direction. “Look at Qi Yunwei’s attitude! Yan Zui should never have married her. Ever since the wedding, Yan Zui’s temper has gotten worse. This is clearly Qi Yunwei’s bad influence!”
He Ran sighed, for once speaking fairly: “Yan Zui is Yunwei’s Omega. Of course she’d protect her. I remember when I first got pregnant—you broke with your family completely, struck out on your own, and suffered through endless hardship to build Yan Corporation into what it is today.”
Yan Zhao’s face darkened instantly, lips pressed into a hard, thin line.
On the way home, Yan Zui watched Qi Yunwei focus on driving. Suddenly she asked, “Aren’t you curious?”
“Of course,” Qi Yunwei replied. “I’m curious about everything when it comes to you. If you want to tell me, I’ll listen anytime. If not, I’ll wait until you’re ready.”
Yan Zui turned her gaze to the window and said no more.
But Qi Yunwei caught sight of her faint smile reflected in the glass, lips curving ever so slightly.
At last—her wife wasn’t angry anymore.
Back home, the moment they stepped inside, Yan Zui wrapped her arms around Qi Yunwei, pressing her cheek to her neck.
Qi Yunwei circled her waist. “What’s wrong, baby?”
“..You’ll stay with me, right?” Yan Zui’s voice was muffled.
Qi Yunwei’s heart melted completely. She kissed the top of her head. “I’ll love you forever, and I’ll never leave you.”
“Really?” Yan Zui lifted her head, her blue eyes misted with tenderness.
Qi Yunwei kissed her eyelids, answering earnestly, “Of course it’s true.”
The night before New Year’s Eve, Qi Jiuyuan—who hadn’t contacted Qi Yunwei in ages—suddenly called, demanding she bring Yan Zui home for the holiday.
Qi Yunwei immediately sensed something was off. She replied coolly, “Dad, we already promised to spend New Year’s at my father-in-law’s. We won’t have time to visit.”
Qi Jiuyuan angrily hung up. Not long after, her aunt Qi Jiusi phoned.
“Yunwei, how have you been? I haven’t seen you in so long. I was hoping to catch up over the holiday, so I asked your father to invite you. I didn’t expect you wouldn’t have time.”
“Auntie, it’s not that we’re refusing. We agreed on this a month ago. And after everything with the family, it’s strange they’d suddenly call me back.”
Qi Jiusi soothed, “It’s not strange. Your brother started a company and made good money. He bought a house for everyone in the family. I thought since you’re his sister, you should have one too, so I mentioned it. He said if you and Yan Zui come back for New Year’s, he’d consider it.”
Qi Yunwei thought grimly: So it’s Qi Fanghuai again.
If he wanted her to bring Yan Zui back, there was no good intention behind it.
“Yunwei, you’ve basically married into the Yan family. You rely on them for everything—you don’t work, you have no savings, no house. If Yan Zui ever divorces you, what will you do? At least with a place of your own, you’d have some security.”
Qi Yunwei replied evenly, “Don’t worry, Auntie. Yan Zui treats me very well. She’s given me more than enough. We’re not getting divorced.”
After calming her down, Qi Yunwei returned to the bedroom.
Yan Zui was leaning against the headboard reading. Qi Yunwei climbed onto the bed, laid her head on her lap, and gazed up at her. “Put the book down. Look at me instead.”
Her playful tone made Yan Zui chuckle. She set the book aside, and with nothing between them, her eyes fell straight onto Qi Yunwei’s starry gaze.
Qi Yunwei guided her hand to her cheek and told her about the phone calls. “If you ever run into Qi Fanghuai alone, stay away from him. He still hasn’t given up on you.”
Yan Zui stroked her face. “Don’t worry. Zhou Xiao is usually with me. And when he’s not, you are.”
Qi Yunwei kissed her palm, then turned to hug her waist, burying her face against her stomach. “I wasn’t looking forward to facing relatives at Father-in-law’s, but compared to going back to the Qi family, it’s much better. At least it’s safe there.”
Something nagged at her, though. Her hand wandered absently along Yan Zui’s waist.
“Qi Yunwei,” Yan Zui suddenly murmured.
“What’s wrong?”
“Don’t move.”
Qi Yunwei froze, then lifted her head to see her wife’s cheeks flushed pink, her blue eyes shimmering, her body warming under her touch.
“I think,” Qi Yunwei whispered with a sly smile, “moving might be better.”
The night was spent in tender intimacy.
The next morning, they packed and headed to the Yan family’s villa.
In the past, the Yans always spent New Year’s on their own, never inviting extended relatives. This year was different: her aunt’s family had just returned from abroad, and Yan Zhao also wanted to consult his “daughter-in-law” about Yan Zui’s lack of pregnancy.
“My aunt and my mom are twins,” Yan Zui explained on the way, “and she has an Omega son, one year younger than me.”
