I Have Everything They Like - Chapter 4
You Tao wisely closed her mouth, which had been about to reveal Teacher Jing’s secret.
When Huo Lang had rescued her earlier, she had already swum several laps in the pool and even showered. Now, glancing at the early morning sky, she walked a few steps toward the elevator. “Anything to eat?”
“The refrigerator has fresh bread, vegetables, and eggs. The freezer has dumplings, wontons, and such”
Before the fair-haired woman standing on the dry side of the pool could finish, Huo Lang interrupted. “Not bread. Can you cook? Just whip up something.”
Even though she was now wearing only a bathrobe, with none of yesterday’s understated luxury jewelry except for a single earring, her every word betrayed her pampered upbringing. She carried herself with an entitled arrogance, as if the world owed her special treatment.
Before You Tao could react, Huo Lang glanced back and said in a slightly slurred voice, “Don’t worry, I won’t eat your food for free.”
The moment she finished speaking, You Tao moved with lightning speed, beating Huo Lang to the elevator. She pressed the button for her, her voice sweeter than it had ever been since joining the show. “After you, Boss Huo.”
Even though Huo Lang oozes ‘scumbag’ vibes, I’d still say: let me have this dirty money!
Huo Lang rarely saw someone so openly and shamelessly coveting her money. For the first time since yesterday, she looked You Tao in the eye, gave a faint smile, and followed her into the elevator.
Back in the kitchen, You Tao moved with practiced ease. Though she was only boiling simple dumplings, the thought of the Second-Generation Huo’s payment spurred her to whip up a variety of dipping sauces and prepare the dumplings three ways: steamed, boiled, and pan-fried. The sheer joy of it left her light-colored hair clinging to the thin sweat on her neck.
The woman in the white bathrobe, sleeves rolled up and arms crossed, leaned against the kitchen doorway, her firm, healthy muscle lines visible. After watching for a moment, she suddenly asked, “Aren’t you hot?”
“Hmm?”
You Tao, standing before the black ceramic range hood, couldn’t hear her clearly. She turned and saw her lips move, then belatedly replied, “I can’t find a hair tie. I’ll buy one when I go out later.”
Huo Lang clicked her tongue, walked over, and gathered You Tao’s long hair at the nape of her neck with one hand. As she felt a cool breeze on her neck, You Tao was about to speak when Huo Lang slowly said:
“You’re welcome. I just don’t want anything else in my breakfast.”
Every time I hear Huo Duidui talking to the other guests, I start to believe this stupid show doesn’t have a script… He’s just too good at offending people!
So, all those sweet words are only for his future wife, huh?
For the sake of the program and the extra income, You Tao generously overlooked her words. She even set the table for her. When Huo Lang finished eating, wiped her mouth with a wet wipe, and put down her chopsticks, You Tao stepped forward at the right moment. “Thank you for your patronage. The breakfast bill has been charged to your account and will be settled after the program ends.”
The satisfied woman narrowed her eyes and, in a magnanimous gesture, offered, “Weren’t you going out to run errands? I can give you a ride later.”
The roar of the silver-gray Pagani’s engine echoed across the driveway outside the estate. As soon as You Tao got in and fastened her seatbelt, the car shot forward like a shuttle.
After stopping at a nearby boutique supermarket, the driver removed her sunglasses and stepped out. Spotting You Tao emerging from the other side, she asked with a smug expression, “How was the ride in my car?”
“My back hurts.”
You Tao answered honestly, instinctively rubbing the area near her tailbone. She sighed again, lamenting her lack of a wealthy destiny: unable to sleep in a hundred-million-dollar villa and suffering back pain in a ten-million-dollar luxury car.
Huo Lang let out a soft, mocking laugh, as if to say You Tao didn’t know what she was talking about. Before entering the supermarket, she added, “The gas money will be deducted from your breakfast service fee.”
Good grief, such a capitalist!
You Tao didn’t react outwardly to the deduction. She followed Huo Lang inside. When Huo Lang began browsing the fresh produce section for dinner, You Tao suddenly asked, “Do you want to know Teacher Jing’s preferences?”
Huo Lang, who had just picked up a piece of A5 wagyu, turned to her sharply. But You Tao offered no further explanation. Instead, she pulled out the group chat on the phone provided by the production team—which only included the guests and asked everyone what they wanted for dinner.
Huo Lang had planned to wait and see Jing Sinian’s answer in the group chat. But when You Tao simply went along with the crowd without expressing any clear preferences, Huo Lang walked over to her and narrowed her eyes. “How could you know something I don’t?”
You Tao blinked at her, her eyes clear and transparent, yet her meaning remained inscrutable.
After a moment, the urgency of her pursuit overwhelmed her. Huo Lang relented, gritting her teeth as she asked, “Fine. Tell me. What does she actually like?”
You Tao spread her hands in front of her.
?
As Boss Huo stared in confusion, the audience’s comments voiced her thoughts: [ That’ll cost extra! ]
The capitalist, who had tried to exploit her, was now being outmaneuvered by the worker. Huo Lang raised a hand to smooth her hair, giving You Tao a half-smile and a knowing look. Having shed her slightly formal black shirt and silver tie from the day before, the cool and stylish Huo Lang was now wearing an exceptionally summery shirt. The vibrant, clashing colors, common on beachwear, would have made anyone else look like a ten-dollar bargain bin find. But on Huo Lang, they made her the most striking figure in the entire supermarket.
A soft slap echoed as Huo Lang raised her hand and tapped You Tao’s palm, tacitly agreeing to her price.
After You Tao had finished selecting her ingredients, she passed by the produce section and suddenly noticed a large, exquisitely packaged box of White Phoenix peaches in her cart. The price was naturally steep.
She followed the gift box with her eyes to see who had put it there, but Huo Lang pressed her head to turn forward. “Watch where you’re going.”
You Tao skillfully swerved her cart to avoid crashing into the display ahead. As they approached the checkout, Huo Lang, striding with long legs as if inspecting her own domain, caught up. Glancing at the peach box in her cart, she remarked casually, “Your name is quite fitting.”
She looks so delicate, so fragile, that even the slightest touch would make her juices run and her skin split. Yet she somehow had the nerve to approach me with such transactions. If I hadn’t gotten useful information to pursue Jing Sinian, what would have become of this little actress in the end?
I saw someone help a friend pursue their crush once, and they ended up losing themselves in the process.
Heh heh, it’s that sweet, fragrant, and soft white peach, Tao Tao. You can peel it and suck the juice straight from the skin, and the flesh is so tender… But I still have to say, Huo Lang, stay away! Whether it’s Teacher Jing or Tao Tao, you’re just daydreaming!
After buying the ingredients, Boss Huo insisted that You Tao help him pick out a gift for Jing Sinian. Although Teacher Jing had a deeper side, his public persona was always gentle and tender. You Tao didn’t try to guess his private preferences, but instead offered her judgments while selecting the gift.
“She loves gardening, and the perfumes she wears are all floral or fruity. This morning she used Z’s red rose. If you’re going with perfume, stick to similar classics, and you can’t go wrong. If you want something more unique, find a rare flower cultivation specialist and get her some exotic varieties not commonly found in China.”
Her suggestion struck a chord with Huo Lang. While the latter option would be troublesome for others, it was effortless for her, she had the money to do it all.
She could just buy everything.
Huo Lang immediately made a call and took You Tao to an ultra-luxurious perfume DIY studio. By the time they finished their custom-made creations and returned, it was already past six in the evening.
Beep.
After verifying her fingerprint at the villa gate, You Tao pushed open the double brass doors with her back, her small face flushed crimson from the heat. She carried several bags of groceries, her cheeks glistening like dewdrops on a ripe peach.
She paused in the hall, surprised. “Doctor Fu, you’re back?”
Fu Jin Yan was seated in the hall, watching a medical documentary. He glanced over at her, noticing the faint dark circles under her eyes—evidence she hadn’t rested since leaving the previous night. He nodded slightly and turned back to the documentary.
After putting away the groceries in the kitchen, You Tao quickly returned to the opulent hall. Under the gaze of the European oil paintings adorning the walls, she produced a perfectly round white peach and offered it to Fu Jin Yan.
“Doctor Fu, would you like some fruit? Boss Huo treated us. This variety is especially sweet.”
The Bai Feng peach had thin skin and soft flesh, requiring no knife to peel. A simple pinch at the stem was enough to tear away the outer layer. Whether it was sweet remained to be seen, but its fragrance was undeniably potent, now faintly permeating the entire living room.
The memory of last night, buried under the day’s busyness, resurfaced in her mind. Fu Jin Yan stared at her, recalling how he’d washed his hands in the bathroom earlier and found everything meticulously arranged on the counter—toothpaste, body wash, even the soap, all with a peach scent.
No wonder the scent lingered on her so long.
Fu Jin Yan remained motionless for a long time. You Tao was initially puzzled but soon noticed her gloves. As if remembering something, she returned to the kitchen and reappeared with peeled, sliced peach segments, each piece skewered on a toothpick for easy eating.
By this time, Huo Lang had already returned to her room, leaving the two of them alone on the first floor. Finally, Fu Jin Yan reached out and brought a sweet peach segment to his lips.
The moment he bit into it, his mouth, nose, and mind were completely enveloped by the fragrance. As she ate silently, the towering, impenetrable wall of coldness around her was silently eroded by the sweet, potent aroma, a corner of it collapsing.
This… is Tao Tao sharing peaches with Doctor Fu.
He knows what sharing peaches signifies, right?
Doctor Fu, you’re so cold! I wonder who will melt your icy heart with 37-degree warmth. I want to see that cold mask crack and your eyes gleam with desire from the heat.
When Jing Sinian arrived at the villa, You Tao was already preparing dinner. Fu Jin Yan stood by the sink, carefully measuring rice with a measuring cup.
“Can I help?” the woman asked in a warm voice, already rolling up her sleeves and stepping into the kitchen. She was heading toward the cutting board when Huo Lang, drawn by the sound, intercepted her. “Sinian, you’re back? Come here for a moment, I need to talk to you.”
Jing Sinian paused, understanding Huo Lang’s meaning. Yet she instinctively glanced at You Tao, as if she would refuse to leave if You Tao spoke up.
But Huo Lang gave You Tao a subtle glare, and You Tao turned her attention to the ingredients in the pot. “The prep work is almost done,” she said naturally. “It just needs to go in the pot. Teacher Jing, if you need to handle something, go ahead.”
“Then I’ll be responsible for washing the dishes after dinner,” Jing Sinian could only say before leaving with Huo Lang.
After she left, Shen Mingrui returned. The team that had been with her in the morning was nowhere to be seen, and she had changed into a different outfit. Her jacket was a semi-transparent sun protection layer, paired with simple shorts and a t-shirt that revealed her slender waist.
Aahhh, that sister’s waist isn’t a waist, it’s a deadly, soul-stealing scimitar!
“Tao Tao, I’m back. Did you miss me today?” Fu Jin Yan’s voice reached her before he entered the kitchen. When Shen Mingrui walked in, she saw Fu Jin Yan standing by the sink. She was momentarily surprised, her gaze flickering between him and You Tao before she understood. With a calm tone, she added, “Good evening, Doctor Fu.”
– Tao Tao, Doctor Fu, the difference in treatment between a celebrity and a normal person is so obvious right now.
– Little Shen’s eyes seem to be saying: “I’m relieved to see there’s nothing inappropriate going on between you two.”
Fu Jin Yan grunted in response to the sound of water running as he washed the rice, not looking at Shen Mingrui, who had already moved to stand close to You Tao. He indifferently listened as she praised the aroma of the food before turning to You Tao and saying, “The media room at eight tonight. I’ll be waiting for you there, Tao Tao. Are you ready?”
Isn’t it a bit inappropriate to openly invite her out under Doctor Fu’s nose?
But our Tao Tao and Doctor Fu are just friends, right? [doge]
You Tao nodded, seemingly oblivious to the sweetness in Shen Mingrui’s voice. As usual, she replied, “Sure.”
After speaking, she turned to Fu Jin Yan, who was still washing the rice nearby. “Doctor Fu, rinsing the rice twice is enough. No need to wash it so many times.”
Fu Jin Yan stared at the water in the pot, which was now turning slightly milky. He replied coldly, “But I like it clean.”
