I Got Together with the Scum Gong’s White Moonlight - Chapter 10
Having finally managed to settle themselves up in the trees, everyone lacked the energy to cook, despite their loudly rumbling stomachs.
Looking out at the torrential downpour outside the woods which seemed capable of pouring the very ocean back down from the sky and sensing the inescapable, heavy moisture surrounding them, Gu Yan’s brow furrowed even tighter, filled with deep anxiety.
“What are you looking at?” Gu Ming’s voice came from behind her, accompanied by a rustling sound.
“The rain is too heavy, and we don’t have any real ways to stay warm. I’m worried—” She turned her head as she spoke.
Despite the dim light, she saw exactly what Gu Ming was doing right now. Her face flushed hot, and she instinctively turned her back around.
Seeing this, Gu Ming couldn’t help but smile. “It’s not like you haven’t seen it before. Why such a big reaction?”
“It’s different…”
She had indeed seen Gu Ming undress before. Back when they were filming Feng Wu Jiu Tian, she had even shared a bath with her. But that was for a shoot, after all, and everything that needed to be covered had been properly hidden unlike now.
Even though it was only a fleeting glance, she had seen it. She had seen the beautiful figure that Yan Ling constantly put down, claiming she was inferior to Gu Ming. She had seen the ink-black hair draped down, creating a hazy, shielded temptation.
She quietly pressed a hand against her chest, attempting to push her heart which felt like it was about to leap out of her throat back down.
“What’s so different about it? We’re both girls. Don’t stand so far outside, come in quickly. Take off your clothes and wipe yourself down.”
Take off her clothes?! Gu Yan’s heart skipped another beat, and she hurriedly said it wasn’t necessary.
Gu Ming was puzzled. “Aren’t you cold wearing wet clothes?”
Cold. Of course she was cold. But to make her strip in front of Gu Ming…no, to expose her body before Gu Ming…she truly…
Involuntarily clutching at the root of her thigh, she bit her lip fiercely, shame and anger intertwining in her heart.
“Yan?” Gu Ming had walked up behind her without her realizing, placing a hand on her shoulder.
She gave a violent start.
“Your clothes are so soaked, why haven’t you taken them off yet? Are you trying to make yourself catch a cold?” Gu Ming’s tone grew urgent.
“I’m fine, my health is actually quite good…Gu Ming?!”
Gu Ming, completely ignoring her protests, began to strip her clothes off for her.
“Your health is good, yet you end up in the hospital every few days? Why are you trying to act tough in front of me?”
“We’re both girls, it’s not like I’m going to eat you. Besides, it’s dark in the tent. What is there to be afraid of? I’m not going to take advantage of you.”
“That’s not what I meant…” Gu Yan explained frantically, not wanting Gu Ming to misunderstand even for a fraction of a second.
“Raise your arms.” Gu Ming simply wouldn’t listen.
Left with no choice, she could only cooperate with Gu Ming, raising her arms to let her pull the clothes off.
“My hospital visits weren’t because I have a weak constitution…” she defended herself in a small voice.
If it weren’t for Yan Ling constantly beating and kicking her whenever she felt like it, or starving and freezing her whenever her temper flared up, she wouldn’t have ended up in the hospital so frequently during filming.
She didn’t want to use this to win Gu Ming’s sympathy.
And sympathy wasn’t what she wanted either.
But she had to admit, Yan Ling’s punishments had given her more opportunities to interact with Gu Ming in private. She had even deliberately provoked Yan Ling at times.
She had merely underestimated Yan Ling’s methods.
This kind of humiliation, this kind of degradation…
How could she let Gu Ming see it, or know about it?
She felt incredibly fortunate that the sky was dark right now.
Gu Yan was stripped completely bare by Gu Ming.
She had tried to stop her, but Gu Ming was unexpectedly tyrannical and brook no argument this time. Left with no recourse, she could only endure her burning embarrassment and allow Gu Ming to wipe her body down.
The coral fleece cleaning cloth did not feel as soft and comfortable against her skin as one might imagine. Yet, because of Gu Ming’s extreme caution, gentleness, and consideration, it caused every single inch of her body to melt, as if scorched by a slow-burning fire.
If she hadn’t been kept by Yan Ling, she might not have overthought things. But having witnessed and experienced that world, she couldn’t help but look deeper into it, couldn’t help but hope…hope that what Gu Ming felt for her wasn’t just simple sisterly friendship.
But how could there be so many women in this world who liked other women? And besides, she possessed nothing that made her worthy of Gu Ming’s affection and favoritism.
“Yan, right here you—” Gu Ming had barely started speaking when Gu Yan reacted violently, pushing her hand away and turning her body aside. “It’s nothing. I’m already dry. I’m getting into my sleeping bag first.”
Fleeing as if running for her life, she dove into her sleeping bag, turning her back to Gu Ming, not daring to look at her expression at this moment.
She rubbed the root of her thigh with all her might, wishing she could tear that piece of skin right off. But even though she rubbed it until it throbbed with a burning pain, she still couldn’t cleanse away that mark which symbolized her ultimate humiliation.
The rain poured for the entire night.
In the end, they were simply too hungry to bear it. Even though the damp wood wasn’t easy to ignite and produced massive plumes of smoke when it did burn, everyone could only bite the bullet and endure it.
If they didn’t get something warm into their systems soon, they were going to freeze to death.
Fortunately, He Xin had possessed the foresight to bring along a large soup pot. They set up the fire, added water and rice, and because they couldn’t wait around for actual rice to cook, everyone unanimously agreed to make a batch of thin porridge instead.
The pickled vegetables brought by Song Ai and the ham sausages brought by Zeng Jiu were tossed into the pot one after another, managing to yield a pot of reasonably flavorful, savory porridge.
“I’ve never felt like porridge tasted this good before,” Xu Wen sighed, patting his slightly rounded stomach.
“Who hasn’t? Normally, I’d never touch porridge because it spikes your blood sugar too fast. Who would’ve thought that on just our second day in this program—” Zeng Jiu didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. After finishing his lament, he slurped down another mouthful of porridge.
“The production crew is ruthless enough. They didn’t even give us a warning before filming started. It’s like they’re terrified someone might actually last until the end to claim the prize money,” Yu Sa muttered resentfully, shivering slightly as the hot porridge warmed him up.
“This is exactly what makes wilderness survival interesting to watch,” Gu Ming remarked calmly, a chuckle in her voice.
“This is only the second day. Before this, I never realized how incredibly long a single day could feel,” Kang Yu sighed.
Her foot was completely swollen now. It hurt when she moved it, and it hurt when she kept it still. She had no idea how much longer she could endure it. If she ended up being the very first person to drop out, it would be far too embarrassing.
“Kang Yu, don’t force yourself to push through just to stick it out until the end. Although sprains ultimately rely on self-healing, it’s still better to go to a hospital and get it treated properly as early as possible,” Song Ai said, looking at her red and swollen ankle with concern.
Kang Yu scratched her head awkwardly. “I’ll try to hang in there a bit longer. If I really can’t handle it, I’ll drop out.”
“Since you want to keep pushing forward, try your best not to walk on that injured leg from now on. A sprain isn’t some insurmountable disaster; you just need to rest it well,” Gu Ming chimed in, picking up on Kang Yu’s unease.
Kang Yu nodded hastily, agreeing.
“I wonder how much longer this rain is going to last,” Yin Shi muttered, peering outside with a deep frown.
“We don’t have our phones to check the weather forecast, so we can only take things one step at a time. Don’t overthink it, just keep an eye on protecting our food supply from the moisture. We can get through this,” Cheng Ming encouraged everyone.
“We don’t even know what time it is right now. What are we going to do in a little while? Is there any entertainment?” Yu Sa asked, looking utterly listless and bored.
“Continue with word chain games?” Xu Wen suggested.
“Uh, we already played that yesterday,” You Sa replied, not particularly thrilled by the idea.
“Then how about Truth or Dare,” Yin Shi proposed.
“That’s so tacky. Way too tacky,” You Sa said, shaking his head.
Yin Shi pinched the bridge of his nose. “Then you suggest something.”
Yu Sa sighed. “Well, that’s why I’m asking because I don’t know either.”
“The King’s Game?” Gu Ming threw out a suggestion.
Yu Sa countered, “Isn’t that basically the same thing as Truth or Dare?”
“There’s no point in playing dare-based games on a rainy day since it’s not convenient to go outside. How about… Werewolf?” Song Ai suggested.
“…I’m sorry, I don’t know how to play that,” Gu Yan raised her hand quietly.
Nine pairs of eyes turned to look at her in shock.
It would have been fine if it were just the others, but even Gu Ming was looking at her like that. Gu Yan felt a wave of embarrassment wash over her, instantly regretting opening her mouth.
But there was nothing she could do about it; she truly didn’t understand this thing called “Werewolf.” Rather than joining in and having everyone realize she couldn’t play later on, it was better to confess right from the start.
“It doesn’t matter, it’s very simple. I’ll teach you,” Gu Ming said, snapping out of her surprise quickly.
