- Chapter 29 - I Became the Goddess's Matrilocal Son-in-law?? (Twenty-Nine)
In the middle of the day, Zhi Gui and Zhi Li stood guard at the door of the room, yawning. It was truly because the Young Master and the Young Mistress refused to come out of the room, and they had no way to go in and disturb them. With nothing to do, they were so idle that they felt as if grass were growing on them; they would occasionally come to the door to check and then leave again.
The two had been physically intimate and inseparable since they woke up. Even so, they were unwilling to part, clinging tightly to one another like twin flowers entwined together.
It was not until the sun began to set and the birds were fighting on the ground in the courtyard that Si Xuansu finally pushed open the door and stepped out of the room.
Seeing her emerge, Zhi Gui and Zhi Li stood up from the corridor with renewed spirit and asked, “Young Master, Young Mistress, are you hungry?”
Si Xuansu nodded. “Bring some food, and do not allow anyone to disturb us tomorrow either.”
“Yes.”
After saying this, Si Xuansu went back into the room.
Once the food was delivered, the two of them ate together. Sometimes they would go to soak in the Swirling Immortal Spring within the spatial dimension, and at other times, they would return to lying on the bed.
The Emperor had given Si Xuansu time off, so there was no need to go into the army. Upon careful reflection, there was not even a necessity to leave the room.
Jiang Yiqing felt there was a necessity, but Si Xuansu stayed with her every moment, making it impossible for her to step out the door.
Si Xuansu felt that these days could be described as ultimate bliss. Her self-restraint had defected during these past few days; she felt there was no harm in indulging herself like this occasionally.
Especially when she saw those ambiguous red marks on Jiang Yiqing’s body, she could not help but want to do something more. For the first time, Si Xuansu felt that she had been too restrained in the past, which led to her losing all sense of proportion and control when it came to her.
Zhi Gui and Zhi Li waited and waited, but the two did not come out. Since the Master and the Mistress were not in a hurry, there was no reason for them to be anxious either.
For a long period of time, there was no sound at all from inside, making people wonder if the Young Master and Young Mistress were sleeping. However, it seemed unlikely they would sleep for so long, yet no one dared to ask what exactly was happening.
Jiang Yiqing felt as though her body was about to melt in the hot spring before she was finally released. She had already forgotten the date and did not know what time it was.
After stepping out, and through the reminder of Zhi Gui and Zhi Li, she realized that she and Si Xuansu had stayed in the spatial dimension and the room for a full five days.
Her first thought was to go and apologize to her General father-in-law and Madam Si. According to etiquette, they were supposed to offer tea on the morning of the second day of the wedding.
However, when they arrived before the two elders, offered the tea, and sat down for dinner as a family, they did not blame Jiang Yiqing.
The General father-in-law said, “We are one family; etiquette is secondary. What matters is that you two are happy. Seeing you happy makes us happy as well. Besides, Yiqing, you have already offered tea before.”
Madam Si held Jiang Yiqing’s hand and said softly, “Xuansu stays in the military camp all year round and acts without a sense of gravity. Yiqing, you must be more patient with her. If you feel wronged in any way, come and tell me.”
Si Xuansu’s gaze drifted over, appearing curious about what the two of them were discussing.
Jiang Yiqing met her eyes and said hesitantly, “No… I am not wrong.”
“…” Madam Si looked at the marks on Jiang Yiqing’s neck that could not be hidden, and her earlobes which looked as though they had been bitten and gave Si Xuansu a reproving look.
Si Xuansu shifted her gaze away guiltily.
After counting the gift boxes sent by everyone, they discovered nine more massive night-luminescent pearls.
Madam Si gave them to Jiang Yiqing, saying that putting them together with the previous one would make “ten out of ten,” symbolizing perfection.
Jiang Yiqing had originally thought that with the night pearls, Si Xuansu would not need to light a lamp when reading books in the room.
However, it seemed she had overthought it, because for a long time afterward, Si Xuansu did not read books in the room at all, she only did one thing in that room.
But the night pearls did not lose their utility because of this; by placing them in the room, one could see clearly what was happening even in the dead of night.
