- Chapter 17 - I Became the Goddess's Live-in Son-in-Law?? (Part 17)
After returning to the General’s Manor, Si Xuansu did not ask Jiang Yiqing why she wanted to wander around the hot spring area. She cooperated with her actions without a second word, which deeply moved Jiang Yiqing.
From time to time, Jiang Yiqing would perform strange actions; though the results were always good, the people around her must have found it quite odd, especially Si Xuansu, who was always by her side. However, Si Xuansu never asked for her reasons and simply let her do as she pleased.
Facing a goddess who trusted her so implicitly, Jiang Yiqing naturally wanted to reciprocate. She decided: she would tell Si Xuansu the secrets she carried.
However, telling such things requires the right setting. Jiang Yiqing decided to invite Si Xuansu to soak in the hot spring together, and then she would tell her everything—about the fragment collection, the Space, and her own origins.
In the evening, the Snowflake Earth-Gushing Stones indeed flew into the General’s Manor, landing on an open patch of level ground. Jiang Yiqing collected all the stones into her Space, piling them neatly and tastefully next to the Vortex Immortal Spring.
When she returned to the room, she saw Si Xuansu walking toward the bathhouse. Thinking the timing was perfect, she called out to her, “Xuansu, let’s soak in the hot spring together.”
There was a hint of doubt in Si Xuansu’s eyes. “A hot spring?”
“It’s the high-quality spring water I mentioned during the day,” Jiang Yiqing said with a smile.
“Yiqing, it was you doing again, wasn’t it?” Si Xuansu had grown accustomed to it.
Jiang Yiqing laughed.
“But… I do not like soaking in hot springs.”
“Why?” Jiang Yiqing asked.
Si Xuansu felt somewhat embarrassed because she felt her body was not beautiful. Usually, she faced opponents with real blades and spears; for a long time, no one had been able to wound her, but having practiced martial arts since childhood, how could her body be entirely without scars?
She was tempted by Yiqing’s invitation to soak together, but the thought of facing her without any concealment filled her with a sense of trepidation.
Seeing that she didn’t answer, Jiang Yiqing took the initiative to grab her sleeve and said, “This hot spring of mine is newly developed. It’s the spring from today—I’ve already moved it into my Space. Xuansu, I want to tell you more about myself.”
Jiang Yiqing had mentioned the System before. As for other matters, Si Xuansu could probably infer them after staying by her side for so long, but this was the first time Jiang Yiqing was speaking to her directly about it.
“I have long felt that you, Yiqing, carry a peculiar fortune and destiny. Now it seems I was indeed correct.”
Jiang Yiqing thought she would be more shocked; she hadn’t expected her to accept such an incredible thing so quickly. The Goddess was truly intelligent. She said, “But I guarantee there are definitely things about me you don’t know yet.”
“Yiqing is not from this world?” Si Xuansu asked with a smile. She had known since Jiang Yiqing returned to the manor; that sense of strangeness she felt when looking at her own parents was something that couldn’t be hidden no matter what.
“Wow, how exaggerated! How can you know everything?” Jiang Yiqing wailed. “Then what secrets do I have left?”
Si Xuansu was amused by her and rubbed her head, saying, “Between you and me, Yiqing, there is no need for secrets.”
Jiang Yiqing returned the smile and said, “Then let’s go into the Space and soak in the hot spring together.”
Si Xuansu hesitated for a moment but ultimately decided to agree.
“Alright.”
The prospect of soaking in a hot spring with the Goddess made Jiang Yiqing anticipate that she would be incredibly excited.
Anything her hand touched could be brought into the Space, so Jiang Yiqing took Si Xuansu’s hand and brought her inside.
The Space utilized a “Fantasy Backdrop” from the Mall as its setting. It was currently a landscape of graceful green bamboo and long-flowing green water. There were two main attractions now: first, the Silver Silk Spirit Tusk, and second, the Vortex Immortal Spring.
“This is the main body that produces the Spirit Tusk Fruit,” Jiang Yiqing explained as the two approached the Silver Silk Spirit Tusk, which had drooping branches and appeared to be slumbering. “The Silver Silk Spirit Tusk only bears fruit once every hundred years, and only ten fruits at a time. This is one of the nine fragments, yet it ended up bearing two fruits. Isn’t that great?”
Si Xuansu nodded. Hearing these behind-the-scenes details she hadn’t known, she appeared very interested. “In that case, our Yiqing is quite an excellent gardener.”
Jiang Yiqing coughed lightly, feeling a bit flushed. She hurried over to the Vortex Immortal Spring and said, “This Immortal Spring is complete, made of nine fragments. I think soaking in the spring water here will be of great benefit to the body.”
Seeing the Snowflake Earth-Gushing Stones, Si Xuansu looked at her with some surprise. Jiang Yiqing said, “It’s exactly as you think. I found a way to transport the stones here.”
Si Xuansu walked around the hot spring once and nodded in praise. “The scenery here is quite good.”
Delighted by her praise, Jiang Yiqing bought two sets of hot spring outfits from the Mall and placed one set in Si Xuansu’s hands.
“Yiqing, you truly have everything here,” Si Xuansu looked at her and smiled.
A simple smile and a simple compliment made Jiang Yiqing’s face turn red. She turned her head away, her eyes darting around as she said, “It’s… it’s alright.”
Since the Goddess had said so, Jiang Yiqing couldn’t help but show off her wealth. She bought an artificial moon from the Mall and placed it in the sky above Space.
Si Xuansu looked up at the “moon” in the sky; its light was pure and bright, not at all inferiors to the real moon.
However, Si Xuansu soon withdrew her gaze from the moon and changed to gazing intently at Jiang Yiqing, making her feel self-conscious.
Just as Jiang Yiqing was about to admit defeat and look away, Si Xuansu gave a soft laugh.
“I am going to change my clothes.”
So, she wanted her to turn her head away?!
Jiang Yiqing finally understood. Her cheeks flushed crimson as she turned her head and began changing her own clothes.
She didn’t know if Si Xuansu had turned her head, but she didn’t dare look back. Even though she wasn’t looking, Si Xuansu’s figure automatically emerged in her mind.
The two spent every day together, and Jiang Yiqing had already seen her countless times, but she had never seen her clearly and explicitly.
She felt like a bit of a pervert, but wasn’t it human nature to be moved by beauty?
Speaking of which, it would be a pity not to steal a glance during such a good opportunity.
Jiang Yiqing changed her clothes quickly and pretended to look back casually. She saw that Si Xuansu had already finished changing.
Jiang Yiqing felt a bit regretful, but then again, there was nothing to regret, because this scene was enough to be a painting.
Nearby, the green water stirred with ripples, and the bamboo forest rustled. Under the soft glow, Si Xuansu stood a step behind her. Her white gauze clothing barely covered her thighs, and her skin radiated a clean luster; her whole person seemed to be glowing.
The hot spring water was very hot, and Jiang Yiqing feared she might get a nosebleed. Fortunately, the rising steam made her cheeks flush and caused her to perspire, making it impossible for the naked eye to detect anything unusual.
She looked down and realized her own situation was also a bit precarious. She pulled at the hem of her clothes, but as a result, the top part started to slide down, frightening her into not pulling anymore.
Jiang Yiqing looked left and right and said, “This is my first time soaking in a hot spring, just like you, Xuansu.”
“Is it?” Si Xuansu looked away and whispered.
The distance was too close—so close that Jiang Yiqing noticed even a flicker of her eyelashes; she seemed to hear a butterfly taking flight. And the eyes beneath those lashes, dissolved into tonight’s moonlight, appeared somewhat deep.
“I… “I’ll go in first,” Jiang Yiqing said, carefully bending down as her body slowly slid from the edge into the spring water.
Her movements had to be very small, otherwise, she really worried about exposing herself. Having finally entered the hot spring, Jiang Yiqing breathed a sigh of relief. Feeling her face was quite hot, she submerged her head into the spring water, washed her face, and then resurfaced.
Si Xuansu had arrived beside her at some unknown point. Her speed was so great that Jiang Yiqing hadn’t even noticed.
