I Got Together With the Fake Heiress - Chapter 111
The first wave of minor probing was easily dismissed. Although Wen Mama still felt that something was amiss, after thinking it over carefully, she couldn’t pinpoint anything strange.
It was fine for sisters to sleep together because of their close bond; it was fine for people of their age to have dreams; and it was even more fine for them to accidentally perform certain actions in their sleep.
“Although you are already university students, I don’t wish for you to start dating too early,” Wen Mama turned into a serious, heartfelt mother after dinner. “Dating is not a necessity in university; learning useful skills there is the necessity.”
“At the very least, you must wait until your junior or senior year. By then, you’ll be a little older and less likely to be deceived by people.” As Wen Mama spoke, a slight sadness suddenly rose in her heart.
Both her daughters had grown into adults. Perhaps in a few years, they would marry, have children, and form new families with others. By then, this place might no longer be the home they frequently returned to.
“Don’t worry, Mom. Barring any surprises, we won’t be dating anyone else during college,” Wen Yunqing said with a smile. They would directly ‘digest internally.’
“I’m not stopping you from dating. I just hope you prioritize improving your own abilities,” Wen Mama said. Although she knew it was unlikely, she was still quite pleased to hear her two daughters say this.
After discussing the topic of dating for a while, Wen Mama grew increasingly satisfied. Who doesn’t want their children to stay with them forever?
The summer vacation quickly ended. As usual, the two arrived at the apartment near Jing University a few days early. Because they had hired housekeeping to clean regularly, the apartment was spotless. They only needed to go to the supermarket to purchase fresh groceries.
When traveling during non-peak hours, traffic in Jing City was quite smooth. Of course, parking spaces were still very scarce. Free spots were out of the question; any available space usually cost ten yuan per hour or more.
“Zhang Pan, don’t be so ungrateful! Our family lent money when your parents had their accident. You can’t just take it and turn your back on us!”
“I have said many times that the person who took the money wasn’t my parents, it was my aunt. If you have an issue, go find her. This matter has nothing to do with me!” Zhang Pan looked visibly irritated, seemingly on the verge of exploding.
Wen Yunqing and Wen Yimeng had just reached the fresh produce section when they heard the arguing. Recognizing one of the parties as their roommate, they immediately pushed their shopping cart over.
“I don’t care! She said the money was spent on your parents! Either you pay me back double the amount right now, or you marry me immediately, and that money counts as the bride price!” The man arguing with Zhang Pan had a buzz cut and was dressed ordinarily, appearing to come from a relatively average background.
“I’ll say this one last time: this matter is irrelevant to me. If you continue to harass me, I will call the police.” Realizing that the number of onlookers was growing, Zhang Pan tried hard to suppress her anger.
If she hadn’t been worried about leaving a stain on her record, she would have long ago used the rolling pin in her shopping cart to strike his forehead.
“So what if you call the police? I haven’t done anything to you. Go ahead and call them.” The man was accustomed to this hooligan behavior. He hadn’t committed murder or arson, so the police couldn’t really do anything to him.
Zhang Pan was already extremely frustrated by the man’s constant pestering. Hearing him act like a dead pig unafraid of boiling water, she was reaching her breaking point.
“Sir, please refrain from shouting loudly in the supermarket. If you continue, we will have to ask you to leave.” Before Zhang Pan could erupt, the supermarket manager walked over, followed by two uniformed security guards.
“What is this? Are you trying to bully a customer because your store is big?” The man with the buzz cut immediately took out his phone and opened the camera. “If you dare lay a hand on me, I will expose you.”
The manager didn’t hesitate, reaching out to take the man’s phone. “Sir, your actions are already interfering with the normal operation of our supermarket. Please come outside with us first, and we will contact the police to handle the situation.”
After speaking, the manager signaled the security guards to act, half-pulling and half-dragging the man away.
Zhang Pan watched the man being taken away with some surprise. She then noticed Wen Yunqing and Wen Yimeng, who were conspicuous in the crowd.
“Zhang Pan, long time no see.” Meeting Zhang Pan’s gaze, Wen Yimeng waved in greeting.
A flash of understanding crossed Zhang Pan’s eyes. It must have been her roommates who asked the manager to help; otherwise, a typical supermarket wouldn’t escort one person away for the sake of an unknown customer.
“Indeed, we haven’t seen each other for almost two months.” Zhang Pan quickly pushed the recent annoyance to the back of her mind, a smile returning to her face.
All three knew what had just happened, but they tacitly avoided mentioning it, instead beginning to discuss course selection for the new academic year.
“The professor said that starting sophomore year, we should preferably choose the branches we are more proficient in, so we can delve deeper into research and understanding,” Zhang Pan said. “Which areas are you planning to choose?”
“I’ll probably lean towards the economic side,” Wen Yunqing said without much thought. After all, she needed to make money.
Wen Yimeng hesitated slightly. “I’m interested in family ethics and related subjects. I might pursue that direction. What about you, Zhang Pan?”
“My area of interest is somewhat similar to yours, Yimeng, but I want to specialize in Marriage Law,” Zhang Pan paused briefly. “I feel that there are too few laws concerning domestic violence right now. I want to fight for more rights for women. Regardless of whether they are married or not, they should never be subjected to violence.”
Wen Yimeng nodded in agreement. “That’s right! When we open our law firm, I want to hire several highly professional lawyers and establish a dedicated anti-domestic violence department!”
The three chatted while purchasing daily necessities. Since school hadn’t started yet, Wen Yimeng simply invited Zhang Pan over for a small gathering.
Zhang Pan did not refuse, smiling and agreeing. “I worked part-time at a five-star restaurant again this summer. I can show off some of the things I learned.”
“Great! Then you have to cover at least half of today’s lunch,” Wen Yimeng joked.
Zhang Pan nodded, putting her groceries into her reusable cloth bag. “Of course. Actually, covering everything is not a problem.”
As they left the supermarket, smiles were on all three faces, but upon seeing the man with the buzz cut standing near the escalator, their smiles immediately faded significantly.
“Yunqing, I want to make a call,” Wen Yimeng said. She didn’t want to get tangled up with this type of person and only wanted to use her current special status to send the man to jail.
Wen Yunqing instantly understood her girlfriend’s intention and concurred. “I think that’s a good idea.”
Zhang Pan looked confused. “Yimeng, he hasn’t committed a crime yet. The police probably can’t do anything to him if they come, right?”
“That’s incorrect. He is clearly trying to cause trouble for you,” Wen Yunqing interjected. “You are our roommate and our good friend. Causing trouble for you means causing trouble for us, and causing trouble for us…”
Wen Yunqing didn’t finish the last half of the sentence, merely giving the man a sarcastic smile.
Causing trouble for them—that could be either a small or a huge matter. To put it simply, it was obstructing public officials from performing their duties. To put it largely, it was delaying them from saving the world!
There was no need to emphasize how important Wen Yunqing and Wen Yimeng were now. If it weren’t for the fear of offending Wen Yunqing, the authorities would have long ago assigned dedicated personnel to manage their daily lives.
So, when Wen Yimeng placed the call, the relevant personnel arrived at the scene in under five minutes, just as they ran into the man aggressively threatening the three girls.
“I’m warning you! Don’t look for trouble! This is between Zhang Pan and me. If you try to interfere, don’t blame me for being rude to you too! I may not have people here, but I have many brothers back home…”
He had just finished issuing his threat when two plainclothes officers immediately pinned him to the ground and put him in a pair of rose gold handcuffs.
“You are suspected of Endangering Public Safety. You are now under arrest. Please cooperate with our investigation!” After saying the routine official lines, the plainclothes officers quickly dragged the man away.
Wen Yimeng mentally gave them a thumbs-up for their efficiency, then smiled at Zhang Pan. “Looks like the problem is solved. We should be able to enjoy a nice lunch.”
Zhang Pan nodded in stunned silence. What just happened? How did he become suspected of Endangering Public Safety?
And seriously, who exactly is this roommate of mine?! She can have someone taken away with a single phone call! That’s too impressive! I only read about this kind of plot in novels!
Just when Zhang Pan had managed to somewhat digest the fact that her two roommates were “big shots,” she received another blow right at the door of their apartment, leaving her jaw dropped in shock again.
“Are you cooking? Is it okay if we crash for lunch?” Lu Zhiming was casually dressed in shorts and a T-shirt, completely unconcerned about the scattered hickeys on his neck and collarbone.
“Assistant… Assistant Lu…” Zhang Pan’s face flushed slightly. She thought she just saw something incredible.
“I’m not a teacher; I’m just a Teaching Assistant,” Lu Zhiming said with a laugh. “My little one won’t engage in a teacher-student relationship with me.”
“Who’s engaging in a teacher-student relationship with you?” Zhou Jun walked out after taking a shower, wearing a bathrobe, with even more marks on his neck than Lu Zhiming.
Zhang Pan opened her mouth wide in sheer lack of worldly experience, too shocked to utter a single word.
Good heavens, is she really that unworldly? Why is Wen’s classmate dating Assistant Lu! And they’re living together! Right next door!!!
