I Got A Girlfriend After Losing My Memory (Transmigration) - Chapter 57
Tang Fuzhi found Grandpa Tao’s standards a bit inconsistent.
Tao Ran taking care of her was expected, but her caring for Tao Ran deserved a reward.
Tao Ran lowered her gaze to the dazed, innocent girl before her. Even Grandpa Tao could see it, yet Tang Fuzhi still didn’t understand.
She reached out and gently pinched Tang Fuzhi’s soft earlobe, smiling. “Just accept it, Grandpa’s giving it to you.”
She paused for a moment, then suddenly said, “Why don’t I just give you all of it? Consider it my dowry.”
If anyone else had said this, Tang Fuzhi might have taken it as a joke. After all, these were shares in the Tao Group.
Though she didn’t know exactly how much they were worth, she knew it was an enormous sum of money.
But this was Tao Ran speaking, and Tang Fuzhi knew she was capable of such a gesture.
Tang Fuzhi glared at Tao Ran, a hint of resentment in her eyes. “Grandpa has already given me so much, I’m already feeling overwhelmed. Why are you doing this too?”
Moreover, as an outsider, her already holding fifteen percent of the shares had sparked so much discontent. If she took any more, the Tao Group might descend into chaos.
Grandpa Tao also wore a disapproving expression, though his reasons were entirely different from Tao Ran’s.
“You silly girl,” he scolded, “dowry is supposed to come from the groom’s family, not the bride’s! What kind of shortcut is this?”
Tao Ran rubbed her nose, feeling a little guilty.
Signing the documents was a simple matter. Tao Ran and Tang Fuzhi quickly completed the formalities.
Grandpa Tao carefully stored two copies in his desk drawer, then handed the remaining two to Tao Ran.
“I’m tired too. Go have fun yourselves,” Grandpa Tao said, finally seeming to relax. He sat back in his chair and waved Tao Ran and Tang Fuzhi away.
After leaving the study, Tao Ran knew Tang Fuzhi disliked socializing, but with such a grand banquet and the transfer of Grandpa Tao’s shares, it was impossible to avoid all social obligations.
Tao Ran instructed He Ruo to accompany Tang Fuzhi as she wandered around, while she handled some necessary social interactions.
Without Tao Ran, Tang Fuzhi found herself alone, knowing no one. She retreated to a quiet corner to enjoy the food.
The Tao Group was T City’s leading conglomerate, and the dessert table was laden with exquisite pastries. These weren’t just pretty to look at; each one Tang Fuzhi sampled was genuinely delicious, each with its own distinct flavor.
After eating her fill, she felt a bit parched. Before taking a sip of her drink, she made sure to ask He Ruo if it was indeed a non-alcoholic beverage.
Though she couldn’t remember what had happened the last time she got drunk, her intuition warned her to avoid alcohol. She had a feeling nothing good would come of it.
Just then, her phone buzzed with a WeChat notification. It was the client who had commissioned the Fox-tailed Girl illustration.
Tang Fuzhi wasn’t sure of her skill level yet, and she’d taken on this commission specifically to practice. So, after completing the draft, she didn’t charge any fees, considering it a free bonus piece.
[Fox-tailed Girl: Really?! Thank you so much! (Blowing kisses.jpg)]
Tang Fuzhi smiled, as if she could feel the other woman’s excitement through the text and was infected by it.
“Ah!”
Tang Fuzhi was suddenly bumped, and a woman’s scream pierced the air. Fortunately, He Ruo caught her in time, preventing her from falling.
Turning around, she saw Huo Yuxin sprawled on the ground in a pink princess dress, her phone lying nearby.
Huo Yuxin had been walking while playing on her phone, momentarily distracted and accidentally bumping into Tang Fuzhi, causing her to fall. As she grimaced in pain, she noticed a pale, delicate hand suddenly appear before her. She instinctively said, “Thank you.”
Following the soft hand upward, she saw Tang Fuzhi, dressed in an emerald green gown, her beautiful amber eyes filled with concern. “Are you alright?”
Huo Yuxin gripped Tang Fuzhi’s hand and stood up, letting Tang Fuzhi pull her to her feet. “I’m fine. Sorry, I was playing on my phone and didn’t notice you there…”
She’d been so engrossed in her game that she hadn’t seen anyone coming.
Tang Fuzhi smiled, her eyebrows arching slightly, and brushed it off. She picked up Huo Yuxin’s phone from the ground. “It’s okay. Good thing He Ruo caught me.”
The phone screen was still lit, displaying the page Huo Yuxin had been viewing.
Tang Fuzhi wasn’t one to pry into others’ privacy, but the brightly lit screen was right in front of her. Even if she hadn’t wanted to, she couldn’t help but see it.
The page showed a WeChat chat history. The conversation content and profile pictures were all too familiar to her.
Tang Fuzhi stared at Huo Yuxin in disbelief.
The world really is small.
Noticing Tang Fuzhi’s strange gaze, Huo Yuxin instinctively touched her face. “What’s wrong? Is there something on my face?”
Tang Fuzhi handed her the phone. After a long pause, she bit her lip and pulled out her own phone, checking the chat interface with the Fox-tailed Girl.
It was identical to what she’d just seen on Huo Yuxin’s phone, except the profile pictures were in different positions.
She glanced at the Fox-tailed Girl’s IP address again. Sure enough, it was in T City.
Hesitating for a moment, she typed a message into the chat box:
[Are you in T City too?]
A WeChat notification chimed from Huo Yuxin’s phone, and Huo Yuxin began typing.
As soon as Huo Yuxin finished typing, Tang Fuzhi’s phone buzzed with a notification as well.
[Fox-tailed Girl: I’m in T City for a family banquet. By the way, Madam, aren’t you from T City too?]
Tang Fuzhi finally confirmed the Fox-tailed Girl’s identity and replied calmly, [ I’m right here in front of you.]
Huo Yuxin received the message and looked up, puzzled. All she saw was He Ruo and…
As realization dawned, Huo Yuxin’s eyes widened as she stared at Tang Fuzhi, her fingertips trembling slightly.
“Y-you’re Candy?”
Tang Fuzhi smiled wryly, marveling at how small the world was. “That’s me.”
Perhaps because they now shared a common topic, Huo Yuxin suddenly became talkative, showering Tang Fuzhi with effusive praise.
She gushed endlessly about her admiration for Tang Fuzhi’s latest artwork: a tentacled girl.
The shares had no impact on Tang Fuzhi’s daily life. She continued her routine as usual, painting during the day and joining Tao Ran for lunch at the company.
Before she knew it, Qixi Festival, the Chinese Valentine’s Day, was just around the corner.
Tang Fuzhi had never really understood the significance of this holiday, but as Qixi approached, every app began pushing related content. She learned about its origins and, more importantly, its meaning.
Suddenly, Tang Fuzhi realized that Qixi would be the perfect occasion for a proposal.
For reasons she couldn’t quite explain, Tang Fuzhi spent nearly an hour in the bath the night before Qixi.
When she emerged, a cloud of steam filled the room. Tao Ran, who had been reading the newspaper, paused slightly and glanced up at her.
The young woman had indeed taken a long bath. Her fair skin was flushed with a delicate pink, and droplets of water clung to her long, curled lashes. Having just washed her hair, she had wrapped it in a white towel, but a few mischievous drops still trickled down her cheek and onto her slender neck.
The water traced a slow path down her neck, disappearing into the neckline of her white cotton nightgown, leaving a faint damp mark on the fabric.
Tao Ran patted the spot beside her, inviting Tang Fuzhi over, and then helped her dry her hair.
Just as Tang Fuzhi had guessed what Tao Ran was planning for Qixi, Tao Ran knew why Tang Fuzhi had taken such a long shower.
It was as if they shared an unspoken understanding. Though both knew what the other meant, they wanted to save the surprise for tomorrow.
As Tao Ran gently dried Tang Fuzhi’s hair, she could smell the faint white tea scent of the girl’s body lotion. Though the fragrance was subtle, Tao Ran found it sweet, sweeter than honey.
Even though Tao Ran had known Tang Fuzhi would say yes, seeing how much it meant to her made her heart feel soft and warm, like rolling around on a cotton candy cloud, both sweet and tender.
Once her hair was mostly dry, Tao Ran took out the hairdryer. As the long strands slipped through her fingers, they felt like tiny hooks, tugging tightly at her heart.
The shampoo’s scent, the same fragrance as her hair, wafted through the warm air from the hairdryer.
They lived together, even sharing a room, the same bathroom, the same shampoo, and the same bed.
Just a little bit more, and tomorrow she would have that final piece.
Tao Ran suddenly felt an overwhelming urge to kiss Tang Fuzhi.
After drying Tang Fuzhi’s hair, Tao Ran knelt beside her, her fingers stroking the girl’s long, silky strands. Kneeling, Tao Ran was a full head taller than Tang Fuzhi.
A faint shadow fell across Tang Fuzhi’s face as Tao Ran’s fingertips traced her cheek, slowly sliding down to lift her chin and meet her gaze.
Tang Fuzhi didn’t know what was happening. Forced to tilt her head back, her amber eyes remained clear and bright.
Tao Ran’s thumb brushed against Tang Fuzhi’s lips, the girl’s soft, pink lips feeling slightly uncomfortable under the rough touch. Tang Fuzhi’s brow furrowed slightly as she looked up at Tao Ran. “What are you doing…?”
Tao Ran smiled, her voice low and husky. “I want to kiss you.”
The deep timbre of her voice sent a tingling sensation through Tang Fuzhi’s ears, leaving her feeling strangely numb and tingly.
Tang Fuzhi turned her head away, breaking the contact. Tao Ran’s hand fell empty, and she mistakenly took this as a rejection, feeling a pang of disappointment. Then she heard the girl’s sweet, honeyed voice.
“If you want to kiss me, just kiss me.”
Honestly, she hadn’t said she didn’t want to be kissed.
Why did she have to say it out loud?
The corners of Tao Ran’s lips curved slightly upward, seeing through the young girl’s awkward shyness. She gently turned Tang Fuzhi’s face back toward her and lowered her head slightly.
Soft lips met. Tao Ran gently captured the girl’s delicate lower lip between her own. Their breathing grew ragged, sharp teeth lightly brushing against the sticky tip of her tongue. The atmosphere thickened with unspoken desire, the temperature slowly rising.
Tao Ran’s hand had already moved to the back of Tang Fuzhi’s head, her fingertips threading through the girl’s freshly dried, silky-smooth hair. Black strands intertwined with pale fingers.
Forced to tilt her head back, Tang Fuzhi involuntarily half-knelt on the bed. With a slight arch of her supple waist, she rose to meet Tao Ran’s kiss.
On the white expanse of the bed, two indentations marked their entwined figures. The woman’s arched neck was being fiercely licked by the other, Tang Fuzhi’s arms weakly encircling Tao Ran’s head.
Suddenly, Tao Ran’s lips found the pulsing artery in Tang Fuzhi’s neck. The sensation sent a tingling shock through her scalp, leaving her body limp and drained of strength.
Tao Ran sensed Tang Fuzhi’s weakness and realized she was actually enjoying the feeling of her neck being licked. A faint smile curved her lips as she felt the pulse beneath her mouth. She wrapped her arms around Tang Fuzhi and gently tucked her into bed.
Freed from the kiss, Tang Fuzhi gasped for air, her fair cheeks flushed a delicate pink, and her amber eyes shimmered with a misty sheen.
