I Got A Girlfriend After Losing My Memory (Transmigration) - Chapter 49
The Art Academy was never short on beautiful women, but Tang Fuzhi’s pure, innocent looks, slender figure, and soft, gentle demeanor made her a rare find amidst the sea of mature, sophisticated types.
Their teasing was good-natured, driven by curiosity rather than malice. Tang Fuzhi grew even more flustered, murmuring, “That’s the next question.”
With that, she buried her face in Tao Ran’s embrace, refusing to face the crowd.
The group was slightly disappointed, but it was a promising start. They spun the bottle again, eager to continue the game.
Hearing that the next round had already begun, Tang Fuzhi finally emerged from Tao Ran’s embrace.
Chen Sisi, seeing how enthusiastically they were playing, leaned closer to Tang Fuzhi and whispered, “How come I never knew your crush was in our class?”
It was understandable that the others in the class, who weren’t close to Tang Fuzhi, wouldn’t know. But Chen Sisi, as Tang Fuzhi’s former roommate, was genuinely surprised she had no idea.
“If you’d told me sooner, I might have been able to help you strategize,” Chen Sisi added, oblivious to Tao Ran and Tang Fuzhi’s relationship. She simply assumed that Tang Fuzhi’s continued mention of a crush meant she was still waiting for something to happen.
Tang Fuzhi glanced at her, surprised. “You didn’t know?”
Tao Ran had mentioned being quite close to Chen Sisi during college. Tang Fuzhi had assumed Chen Sisi would have figured it out. After all, they’d been together for four years, and it wasn’t like their relationship was a secret. Surely their close friends would have picked up on something.
Chen Sisi looked puzzled. “Should I have known?”
Tang Fuzhi studied her face in the dim light, occasionally illuminated by flashes of colorful lights. She could see clearly that the confusion in Chen Sisi’s eyes was genuine.
For a fleeting moment, Tang Fuzhi recalled Tang Fuyu’s surprised expression when they first met, her sister’s shock at learning Tang Fuzhi was with Tao Ran.
They had been together for four years, yet Guo Qingyu, her persistent admirer, remained oblivious. Even Tang Fuyu, her own sister, was unaware. Chen Sisi, her former roommate from the same school and class, knew nothing either.
It was as if their four years together had been conducted entirely in secret.
The room was already noisy, and the spinning wheel seemed to have landed on someone again. The group erupted in cheers, eager to see what dare or task had been selected.
Though Tao Ran sat right beside Tang Fuzhi, the chaotic environment and the hushed tones of Tang Fuzhi and Chen Sisi’s conversation made it difficult for her to hear what they were saying.
Yet she still keenly sensed Tang Fuzhi’s unease.
Leaning closer, Tao Ran cast a wary glance at Chen Sisi before turning back to Tang Fuzhi with her usual gentle expression. “What’s wrong?”
Chen Sisi inwardly cried foul, insisting she hadn’t said a word.
Tang Fuzhi glanced at Tao Ran. The worry on her face and the tenderness in her eyes were genuine.
Her expression softened slightly, and she shook her head. “It’s nothing.”
Perhaps they hadn’t wanted to go public for some reason. Not every relationship needs to be announced to the world.
Tang Fuzhi picked up the blue cocktail in front of her and took a small sip. It was sweet, almost like a soft drink, with a mild alcohol taste. Quite pleasant.
Tao Ran watched her take two sips and reach for more, quickly pulling the glass away. “You don’t have a high tolerance. You’ll get drunk if you keep drinking.”
Tang Fuzhi pouted in protest. “But I like the taste!”
It was her first time drinking, and she was curious.
Just then, the spinner landed in front of Tang Fuzhi again. Facing the group’s mischievous grins, she steeled herself and chose truth.
“When was your first kiss?”
Tang Fuzhi stole a glance at Tao Ran, then stammered, unable to answer.
She couldn’t remember. Should she count the first kiss from her memories?
Seeing her hesitation, someone recalled the first question Tang Fuzhi had been asked.
“Is there someone you like here?”
A girl gasped beside her. “No way! Is it the person you like?”
As she spoke, her eyes swept mischievously over the few boys present, trying to find the “object of her affection” in their expressions.
Tang Fuzhi’s cheeks flushed even redder, as if she’d had too much to drink.
“What’s the big secret? Maybe today’s the perfect chance for you two to…”
The unfinished sentence hung in the air, sparking everyone’s imagination.
Tang Fuzhi spoke slowly, “But… I don’t remember.”
She was telling the truth, but no one believed her. How could anyone forget something as important as their first kiss?
Someone persisted, “Just a rough estimate then? No need to be exact, just the year and month will do.”
At that moment, Tao Ran casually draped an arm over Tang Fuzhi’s shoulder, her posture relaxed but unmistakably possessive.
Tao Ran’s status carried weight, and since the group was technically crashing her table, no one dared press the matter further.
Just as Zhao Youcai was about to step in to smooth things over, Tao Ran spoke up.
“May 20th of her junior year,” Tao Ran said.
The group’s gazes toward Tao Ran and Tang Fuzhi shifted, their expressions now carrying a different weight.
Chen Sisi seemed to just realize something. She glanced at Tao Ran’s hand resting on Tang Fuzhi’s shoulder, noting their intimate posture.
In the past, everyone had assumed Tao Ran and Tang Fuzhi were just close friends, especially since Tang Fuzhi herself had confirmed it. Even when they acted affectionately, Chen Sisi hadn’t given it much thought.
But now, after just a year apart, it had become real.
Still, in modern society, people were generally more tolerant of same-sex relationships, especially at the Art Academy, which prided itself on its inclusive environment.
The others wore expressions of sudden understanding. Tang Fuzhi’s cheeks flushed slightly as she picked up a pretty but unfamiliar drink and took a small sip.
Tao Ran gently stroked her hair, her voice soft. “She’s a bit shy. You guys just enjoy yourselves. We won’t join in anymore.”
No one pressed further. Chen Sisi looked curious, but when she met Tao Ran’s gaze, she didn’t dare ask anything directly.
Having left the game, the surrounding clamor seemed to fade away, as if they had carved out a quiet space, completely isolating themselves from the noise.
Tao Ran’s slender fingertips gently caressed Tang Fuzhi’s cheek, a mischievous smile playing on her lips. “Still so easily embarrassed?” she teased.
Tang Fuzhi took another sip, her voice softened by the alcohol, her usually crisp tone now tinged with a hint of intoxication. “This is different…”
Tao Ran raised an eyebrow, her gaze lingering on the blue cocktail. Under the multicolored lights, the drink refracted an otherworldly beauty. Her voice, husky and subtly seductive, asked, “How is it different?”
“The atmosphere…”
The atmosphere was different. When they had first acknowledged their relationship, there had been little fanfare. But now, almost everyone was cheering them on. In this kind of atmosphere, it was hard not to feel a little self-conscious.
Whether it was Tang Fuzhi’s imagination or not, her cheeks felt increasingly flushed. Meanwhile, Tao Ran’s fingers, still stroking her cheek, were cool and soothing, a welcome contrast to the heat rising in her face.
Tang Fuzhi squinted, involuntarily leaning closer to Tao Ran and burying her face in the crook of Tao Ran’s neck, letting out a sigh of contentment.
“Mmm… you’re so cool.”
It felt wonderful.
Tang Fuzhi couldn’t resist nuzzling against Tao Ran, feeling the cool skin of her neck soothe her flushed cheek.
Feeling less overheated, she lifted her head from Tao Ran’s neck.
Tao Ran chuckled, gently flicking Tang Fuzhi’s nose with her index finger. “You little ingrate.”
Used and discarded.
Tang Fuzhi didn’t understand what she meant. She lifted her misty eyes, a pure smile blooming on her face, and said in a soft, weak voice, “What are you talking about? I don’t understand…”
The young woman pouted her rosy lips, pressed her hands against her flushed cheeks, and mumbled, “Why am I so hot again? And thirsty…”
She glanced around and immediately spotted the blue cocktail in front of her. It looked so pretty.
By the time Tao Ran realized something was wrong, Tang Fuzhi had already drained the entire glass.
Tao Ran sighed and rubbed her forehead. “Drinking so much will give you a headache.”
Tang Fuzhi showed no reaction. Her throat felt dry. The “drink” had only been refreshing for a moment, and she felt even hotter now.
But how could she cool down?
After a long, dazed pause, Tang Fuzhi remembered how she had cooled down earlier. She hugged Tao Ran again, nuzzling into the crook of her neck.
Ah, so cool…
But it wasn’t enough. Still not enough.
In her hazy mind, only one thought remained:
Still so hot. Why are the ice cubes so small?
She nuzzled again, finally realizing the ice cubes were actually quite large, just hidden beneath a layer of fabric. She continued to rub against the edge of the fabric.
As expected, she found a large ice pack.
Tang Fuzhi had completely disheveled Tao Ran’s collar, leaving lipstick smudged across her neckline and collarbone from her drunken nuzzling.
When Tang Fuzhi was drunk, she became incredibly clingy. Even their first kiss had happened on her birthday, when she was tipsy. She had grabbed Tao Ran’s hand, refusing to let go, and then stolen her first kiss.
Tao Ran wrapped her arms around Tang Fuzhi and lifted her into a horizontal carry. “Tang Tang seems a bit too drunk,” she said. “I’ll take her home. You all have fun.”
Before leaving, she specifically told the waiter to put the table’s bill on her tab.
The bar owner had connections to Tao Ran, so the waiter recognized her immediately and didn’t question the request.
As Tao Ran spoke, Tang Fuzhi kept nuzzling her collar, even reaching up to unbutton the top button. Tao Ran sighed softly and murmured, “Be good now. Stop fussing.”
But a drunk Tang Fuzhi wasn’t listening. Seeing that the ice pack was no longer cooling her down, she grew irritated and bit Tao Ran’s collarbone.
