I Got A Girlfriend After Losing My Memory (Transmigration) - Chapter 3
Tang Fuzhi slept restlessly, plagued by nightmares. In her dreams, she felt something constantly clawing at her, driving her to run frantically.
It’s catching up!
Run faster!
In her subconscious, she heard her own desperate cries and the pounding of her heart, racing from the relentless pursuit.
Thump-thump-thump
Suddenly, she felt a warmth in her palm. At the same moment, the thing clawing at her receded into the distance. Sensing what was happening, Tang Fuzhi instinctively tightened her grip on the warmth beside her.
When she opened her eyes again, she recognized the familiar ceiling. But her heart still pounded with the terror of the dream, its rhythm trapped in that nightmarish realm.
Sensing someone nearby, Tang Fuzhi turned her head and, as expected, saw Tao Ran.
Tang Fuzhi had just woken up in a cold sweat, her face even paler than usual. But seeing Tao Ran brought her back to the reality of the moment.
Her heart gradually returned to its normal rhythm. “What are you doing here?”
“My girlfriend is here,” Tao Ran replied. “So I’m here too.”
Those words completely snapped Tang Fuzhi out of her dream state. A faint blush rose on her cheeks, but her mind was still hazy from sleep. “What time is it? Did I sleep for long?”
“Not too long, just two or three hours,” Tao Ran said, supporting Tang Fuzhi’s shoulder as she helped her sit up. “It’s half past six. Time for dinner.”
During her three-month coma, Tang Fuzhi had been sustained by intravenous nutrition. Now that she was awake, she naturally needed to start eating solid food again.
Tang Fuzhi instinctively glanced out the window. The days were growing shorter as summer waned. Even at half past six, the sun and crescent moon hung on opposite sides of the sky.
She nodded absently, then unconsciously tried to rub her eyes, only to realize her right hand was tightly gripping Tao Ran’s.
Though she knew they were a couple, she had no memories of their relationship. Her hand instinctively recoiled. “I’m sorry, I… I didn’t realize…”
Tang Fuzhi apologized, but her mind was racing with the realization: So that warm touch in my dream was Tao Ran.
Judging by her body’s instincts, she and Tao Ran must have had a close relationship before her amnesia. She seemed to trust Tao Ran deeply.
But…
Recalling the soft, tender touch of her skin, and its delicate texture…
It felt so good.
Tao Ran watched Tang Fuzhi release her hand, a flicker of disappointment in her eyes. She quickly masked her emotions and reached out to stroke Tang Fuzhi’s hair. “We don’t need apologies between us. Have you forgotten? I’m your girlfriend.”
She didn’t want Tang Fuzhi to be so distant. They should be the closest people in the world.
As the afternoon’s memories gradually returned, Tang Fuzhi’s fair cheeks flushed crimson at the thought of the mole Tao Ran had mentioned, adding a touch of color to her pale complexion.
Watching Tao Ran open the insulated container, a rich aroma of egg and millet porridge wafted out.
Tang Fuzhi rubbed her now-empty stomach. After lying down for so long, her stomach was growling. The sweet, comforting scent of the porridge made her swallow involuntarily.
I’m so hungry…
Noticing Tang Fuzhi’s subtle gesture, Tao Ran smiled and brought the bowl closer.
Just as Tang Fuzhi reached out to take it, Tao Ran gently pulled back, scooped up a spoonful, and blew on it.
Seeing Tao Ran’s gesture, Tang Fuzhi unconsciously frowned. Though she knew Tao Ran was her girlfriend, such intimacy still made her instinctively recoil.
She wasn’t used to being so close to others.
But when the porcelain spoon approached her lips, Tang Fuzhi looked up at Tao Ran, meeting her bright, sparkling eyes. The resistance in her heart softened slightly.
She lowered her head and took a small sip of the soft, glutinous millet porridge, its eggy aroma filling her senses. If it’s Tao Ran, she thought, maybe I can accept this.
Perhaps, as Tao Ran had said, their relationship had indeed been good before her amnesia.
The porridge, cooked until the millet and egg were meltingly tender, had no eggy aftertaste, only a delicate fragrance. Just as it looked, it was a perfect blend of color, aroma, and flavor.
Tang Fuzhi tilted her head back. “Delicious!”
Watching Tang Fuzhi’s docile demeanor, the smile in Tao Ran’s eyes deepened. She patted Tang Fuzhi’s head. “Then eat more.”
This obedient version of Tang Fuzhi made Tao Ran long to kiss her again.
Recalling the fleeting kiss from earlier that afternoon, Tao Ran pursed her lips, feeling a pang of longing.
But there was no rush. She couldn’t move too fast; it might scare Tang Fuzhi. She needed to take things slowly.
They still had plenty of time.
The warm porridge filled her stomach, its warmth spreading to her limbs, a comforting sensation that made her want to drift back to sleep. But she had just woken up and wasn’t sleepy at all, especially since she had something she needed to do.
She lifted her gaze, perhaps buoyed by the porridge, her beautiful amber eyes seemed particularly lively.
“I want to take a bath,” she said.
Tao Ran nodded in agreement. Tang Fuzhi eagerly pushed herself up, ready to get out of bed. Tao Ran’s hand hovered protectively behind her waist, ready to catch her if she stumbled.
As Tang Fuzhi’s feet touched the slippers and she tried to stand, her long-dormant legs buckled. Fortunately, Tao Ran reacted quickly, steadying her.
The girl’s soft, delicate body nestled against Tao Ran’s chest. Tao Ran’s hand rested on her slender waist, which had grown even thinner after three months in the hospital following the car accident. Tao Ran felt a pang of tenderness.
Meanwhile, Tang Fuzhi, cradled in Tao Ran’s arms, inhaled the crisp, clean scent of cedarwood, a fragrance she found deeply comforting.
Both women, Tang Fuzhi’s body was soft and weak, but Tao Ran’s arms were surprisingly strong. Even through the thin hospital gown, Tang Fuzhi could feel the taut muscles, the result of rigorous training.
A faint blush crept across Tang Fuzhi’s cheeks.
Though she didn’t know how far their relationship had progressed before her amnesia, the current Tang Fuzhi was still a pure-hearted girl with zero romantic experience.
Tao Ran glanced down at her, noticing her embarrassment. Knowing how easily she blushed, Tao Ran said nothing and simply scooped her up into her arms, carrying her to the bathroom.
“You’ve just woken up and your limbs are still weak. Let me carry you.”
Tang Fuzhi silently wrapped her arms around Tao Ran’s neck, still stubbornly insisting, “I’m just stiff from not moving for so long.”
Knowing the girl’s stubborn nature, Tao Ran nodded with a smile.
The bathroom was right in the hospital room, only a few steps away.
Nestled in Tao Ran’s arms, Tang Fuzhi inhaled her scent and couldn’t help but notice the gentle rise and fall of Tao Ran’s chest.
Normally, two women wouldn’t think much of accidentally brushing against sensitive areas. But now that Tang Fuzhi knew their relationship wasn’t purely platonic, she couldn’t help but let her mind wander to all sorts of things.
According to Tao Ran, they had been dating for nearly four years. Tang Fuzhi wondered how far their relationship had progressed.
In the bathroom, Tao Ran placed Tang Fuzhi on a nearby stool and left immediately.
As Tang Fuzhi pondered how she would get her change of clothes, Tao Ran returned, carrying a set of blue-and-white striped hospital pajamas and underwear.
Seeing the white bra and matching cotton panties, Tang Fuzhi realized these were the clothes she had been wearing.
Her face flushed crimson. She wanted to snatch the garments away, but the weakness in her limbs told her she couldn’t.
She could only watch helplessly as Tao Ran placed the clothes on the shelf beside her with practiced ease. “Are you sure you don’t want me to help you?” Tao Ran asked, her voice betraying a subtle tremor.
Tang Fuzhi firmly refused, and Tao Ran left, visibly disappointed.
Recalling Tao Ran’s practiced movements and remembering her three months of unconsciousness, Tang Fuzhi instinctively called out to stop her.
Tao Ran turned back, her eyes lighting up with anticipation, thinking Tang Fuzhi had changed her mind.
She had never bathed Tang Fuzhi while she was conscious before.
“Have you been bathing me these past three months?” Tang Fuzhi asked, looking a little awkward.
Tao Ran nodded.
When it came to Tang Fuzhi, she always tried to do everything herself.
Even though she’d mentally prepared herself, Tang Fuzhi still felt a surge of embarrassment and annoyance when she heard the truth. “Get out!”
Tao Ran chuckled softly, knowing she was flustered. But this lively, animated version of Tang Fuzhi was far more endearing than the lifeless, motionless figure she’d been on the bed.
The moment Tao Ran turned to leave, a startled cry rang out behind her.
“Ah!”
Tao Ran whirled around to see Tang Fuzhi sprawled on the floor, one hand clutching her lower back, the other braced against the cold tiles. She rushed over and knelt down, meeting Tang Fuzhi’s teary eyes. “It hurts,” Tang Fuzhi whimpered, her voice soft and almost childlike.
Tang Fuzhi had tried to stand up to draw a bath, assuming her legs would have regained some strength after resting. But they failed her again, sending her crashing to the floor.
Tao Ran helped Tang Fuzhi back onto the stool, her voice laced with concern. “Did you hurt yourself?”
Tang Fuzhi shook her head. She’d been careful trying to stand, so despite the fall, she hadn’t sustained any serious injuries.
Just a sore bottom, which would be fine after a rest. Nothing to worry about.
Tao Ran sighed, noticing the few physiological tears at the corners of Tang Fuzhi’s eyes. She walked over to the bathtub and began running the water.
Her slender fingers dipped into the bathtub, sending ripples across the water’s surface. The temperature felt just right.
She picked up a towel from the nearby shelf and, under Tang Fuzhi’s questioning gaze, covered her eyes. “Will this work?”
Given Tang Fuzhi’s current condition, she was uneasy about leaving her alone in the bathroom.
Tang Fuzhi wiggled her toes, confirming she truly lacked the strength to stand. She had no choice but to accept Tao Ran’s suggestion and silently began undressing.
After removing the blue-and-white striped hospital gown, Tang Fuzhi glanced up at Tao Ran. Though she knew Tao Ran couldn’t see her, she couldn’t help feeling a little embarrassed.
Still, she understood Tao Ran was doing this for her safety. After removing her last garment, she spoke in a trembling voice, “I’m ready.”
Tao Ran lowered her gaze and approached Tang Fuzhi. Though her eyes were covered, the towel wasn’t designed for complete blockage, and she could still see Tang Fuzhi’s delicate, pale feet in slippers through the gap at the bottom.
She reached out to support Tang Fuzhi. With Tang Fuzhi’s legs too weak to bear her weight, she inevitably leaned heavily against Tao Ran, making physical contact unavoidable.
Tang Fuzhi couldn’t tell what Tao Ran was feeling, but when her breasts pressed against Tao Ran’s arm, she could clearly feel the friction of the suit fabric, a tingling, slightly itchy sensation that made her cheeks flush faintly.
The short walk felt like an eternity to Tang Fuzhi. She sank her entire body into the warm water, cupping her face in her hands, feeling the heat radiating from her cheeks.
The sound of Tang Fuzhi entering the water filled the air, yet Tao Ran’s earlobes flushed crimson. Standing beside the bathtub while Tang Fuzhi lay submerged, the height difference allowed Tao Ran to glimpse a sliver of pale skin through the gap beneath the towel.
That fair skin, soaking in the warm water, took on a delicate pink hue. Tao Ran’s mind filled with the image of Tang Fuzhi’s radiant smile.
