I Fall Every Time I Meet an Alpha [Transmigrated into a Book] - Chapter 60
After class, Meng Yuzhou dragged Meng Yuqing out of the classroom.
He pulled her all the way to the quiet end of the hallway before finally letting go.
“Meng Yuqing, what’s wrong with you?” Meng Yuzhou questioned her angrily. “Are you addicted to bullying Zhong Xiaoxiao now?”
“Yep,” Meng Yuqing chuckled lightly, adopting an arrogant stance as if daring him to do something about it.
“Meng Yuqing, don’t force me to lay a hand on you,” Meng Yuzhou said, his temper flaring at her attitude. “If Mom and Dad won’t teach you, then I, as your brother, will.”
“And how exactly will you teach me, brother?” Meng Yuqing sneered at him. “With words?”
“If necessary, with my hands,” Meng Yuzhou gritted his teeth.
“Wanna hit me? Go ahead, hit me~” Meng Yuqing shamelessly stepped closer. Meng Yuzhou shoved her away, his temples throbbing with pain.
A troublesome sister, a headache for the brother.
“So, you’re really going to hit me over that little bitch Zhong Xiaoxiao?” Meng Yuqing looked at him mockingly. “She hasn’t even entered the family yet, and she’s already sowing discord. Zhong Xiaoxiao sure has some skills.”
Meng Yuzhou glanced back toward the classroom and saw Zhong Xiaoxiao standing outside, watching them from a distance. It was too far to make out her expression. The sight of her reminded him of all the things Meng Yuqing had done to her, pushing her down the stairs and injuring her, jumping off a building and landing on her, sending her to the hospital, and just now tripping her in class…
The more he thought about it, the angrier he became. How could he have such a malicious sister?
“Hit me, didn’t you say you were going to hit me?” Meng Yuqing kept provoking him, her expression full of challenge.
Meng Yuzhou pushed her away again, then raised his hand and slapped her.
The sharp smack echoed loudly in the empty hallway.
“You dare hit me?” Meng Yuqing clutched her stinging cheek, glaring at Meng Yuzhou with furious phoenix eyes.
“Why wouldn’t I dare?” Meng Yuzhou clenched his fists, glaring back fiercely. Though it was his first time hitting his sister, and he felt a pang of guilt, he forced himself to stay firm. “Look at what you’ve done to her! Don’t you deserve this slap? Huh? Hitting you is going easy on you, your actions could land you in jail, Meng Yuqing!”
A chill ran through Meng Yuqing’s heart, as if she had suddenly seen the cruelty of the world.
From afar, Zhong Xiaoxiao watched Meng Yuqing get slapped and thought, Well, well, Meng Yuqing, finally got what you deserved. She felt a secret thrill finally, some payback. It was a shame she was too far away to see Meng Yuqing’s humiliated expression clearly. So, she ran over.
“Cl-Class President…” Zhong Xiaoxiao hurried to Meng Yuzhou’s side, inwardly gloating. She looked at Meng Yuqing and suddenly slipped into her “innocent white lotus” act. “Did I cause this fight between you two? Please, don’t fight because of me… It’s all my fault, I’m the one to blame…”
Meng Yuzhou softened his expression and reassured her, “It’s not your fault. She just needs to be taught a lesson.”
Meng Yuqing scoffed, eyeing Zhong Xiaoxiao disdainfully. “Zhong Xiaoxiao, you scheming bitch, stop pretending to be some pure little flower.”
Zhong Xiaoxiao: I didn’t, I’m not, oh, screw you! Yeah, I am a scheming bitch, so what? Huh? So. What.
“You want me to hit you?” Meng Yuqing took a step toward Zhong Xiaoxiao.
“What are you doing!” Meng Yuzhou stepped in front of Zhong Xiaoxiao, forcefully pushing Meng Yuqing away.
Meng Yuqing looked at her brother who was now guarding against her, then at Zhong Xiaoxiao behind him, her voice dripping with sarcasm: “Brother, you used to dote on me the most. Have you forgotten your own mother now that you have a wife?”
“Meng Yuqing, you weren’t like this before!” Meng Yuzhou stared at her, barely able to recall her formerly sweet and obedient appearance, now finding the person before him utterly repulsive.
“People change,” Meng Yuqing met his gaze. “And you weren’t like this before either.”
From a distance, Du Lingyan watched the scene with amusement, remarking to Gan Qingyun: “What are these siblings arguing about now? Quite the spectacle~ Look, the school’s practically become their personal stage. Wasn’t home enough for their drama?”
Gan Qingyun’s attention remained fixed on Meng Yuzhou protecting Zhong Xiaoxiao. She turned to Du Lingyan, her beautiful face filled with disdain. “Your people are useless. Why is Zhong Xiaoxiao still alive and well?”
“Yeah, yeah,” Du Lingyan scratched her head, “I told them to stay away from school grounds, but they had to make a scene right at the entrance. Bunch of incompetent fools.”
“You’re going easy on Zhong Xiaoxiao. Did you think I wouldn’t notice?” Gan Qingyun had grown weary. Why was she relying on her? Why couldn’t she just do it herself? “I don’t need you anymore. I’ll handle it myself. Don’t come looking for me again.”
“Qingyun,” Du Lingyan grabbed her hand, her eyes filled with longing. “Just give me a little more time.”
“I’ve given you more than enough time.” Gan Qingyun shook off her hand. “Du Lingyan, you disgust me. Don’t touch me again.”
With that, Gan Qingyun turned and walked away resolutely. Du Lingyan watched her go, a wave of sorrow rising in her heart. In the end, she still hadn’t managed to reach her. All these days together had meant nothing. Absolutely nothing! Her heart of stone remained cold, no matter how hard she tried to warm it.
Du Lingyan turned her gaze back to Meng Yuzhou just as he and Zhong Xiaoxiao passed by her. A sudden surge of rage overtook her. She stepped forward and delivered a powerful kick, sending Meng Yuzhou flying into a wall with a thunderous crash.
“Ah!!” Zhong Xiaoxiao couldn’t help but scream. After kicking Meng Yuzhou, Du Lingyan advanced toward her with a menacing, terrifying aura. Zhong Xiaoxiao was frozen in fear. This was an extremely violent Omega, her ferocity hidden beneath that beautiful face. Always playful and smiling, yet utterly ruthless when attacking.
The aggressive pheromones made Zhong Xiaoxiao’s entire body scream in pain as she stood there trembling. She wanted to run but couldn’t move a single step. Du Lingyan’s hand reached out, about to touch her.
Meng Yuqing, who had witnessed Du Lingyan’s attack on her brother, felt her heart tremble. Then, seeing Du Lingyan about to strike Zhong Xiaoxiao, her body seemed to flip a switch, instantly entering combat mode. Like a lightning-fast leopard, Meng Yuqing charged forward and slammed Du Lingyan away.
Du Lingyan was sent flying, but Xie Baojun appeared behind her, catching her before she fell.
As Meng Yuqing moved in to attack again, Xie Baojun pushed Du Lingyan aside and stepped forward to face her.
Meng Yuqing stood at 1.67 meters tall while Xie Baojun towered at 1.8 meters their size difference was substantial. Yet Meng Yuqing showed no fear, nimbly leaping up to deliver a powerful kick to Xie Baojun’s chest.
Xie Baojun was sent flying backward, only for Du Lingyan to join the fray. The three of them brawled wildly in the hallway.
Cheers erupted from the surrounding onlookers.
Gan Qingyun rushed out of the classroom and spotted Meng Yuzhou slumped against the wall. She hurried over to help him up, her face full of concern as she asked, “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine…” Meng Yuzhou coughed lightly. The kick he had taken was no small thing, what an unexpected disaster.
Zhong Xiaoxiao’s eyes were fixed on Meng Yuqing fighting the other two, but her ears caught the conversation between Meng Yuzhou and Gan Qingyun. She glanced their way, the two were so affectionate, clearly smitten with each other. But her focus remained on Meng Yuqing.
Outnumbered, Meng Yuqing took several hits before scrambling onto Xie Baojun’s back, locking her legs around his neck in a chokehold and flipping him to the ground.
Du Lingyan seized Meng Yuqing by her long hair, yanking her off Xie Baojun and slamming her toward a row of potted chrysanthemums embedded in the wall.
“STOP!” The roar was like thunder, startling everyone. Meng Yuqing’s forehead froze just a hair’s breadth from the flowerpot.
A second later, and she would have been bleeding.
All eyes turned toward the source of the shout the grade director and Class (1)’s homeroom teacher. Seeing them, Du Lingyan instantly switched expressions, chuckling as she pulled Meng Yuqing up and wrapped an arm around her. “Having fun?” she asked, then nudged Xie Baojun with her foot. “Hey, quit playing dead and blocking the director’s way.”
Wang Sicheng, Fang Yu, and Li Shiting returned just as the fight ended, staring blankly at the chaotic scene in bewilderment.
Wang Sicheng: “What happened?”
Fang Yu and Li Shiting: “You’re asking us?”
“You lot, come here!” the grade director barked. The Class (1) homeroom teacher marched over to interrogate her students, Du Lingyan and Xie Baojun. “What’s going on with you two?”
Du Lingyan grinned carelessly. “Nothing, just playing around, teacher.”
Xie Baojun’s face was still bruised, his neck now flushed red. Meng Yuqing’s cheek bore a vivid slap mark and several red scratches. Du Lingyan, however, appeared unscathed clearly the least affected. The teacher didn’t buy her excuse and warned, “The director wants to see you. Watch yourselves.”
“Got it, teacher~” Du Lingyan drawled, her jeweled arm still draped around Meng Yuqing, who shoved her away. Unfazed, Du Lingyan led the way with Meng Yuqing, Xie Baojun trailing behind.
Xie Baojun thought to himself: He was definitely on bad terms with these siblings now.
Seeing his sister being dragged off, Meng Yuzhou struggled to stand. Gan Qingyun supported him. “What are you doing? Let me take you to the infirmary.”
“I’m fine…” Meng Yuzhou tried to push her away, but Gan Qingyun held on tightly.
As Du Lingyan passed them, her gaze lingered on Gan Qingyun before settling on Meng Yuzhou. In that moment, she truly wanted to kill him to ensure Gan Qingyun would never think of him again.
Meng Yuzhou was baffled by Du Lingyan’s hostility, but the way she looked at Gan Qingyun made something click. If this was about Gan Qingyun, if it was for her sake…
Suddenly, everything became clear.
Meng Yuzhou remembered now, his sister had said everything was done at Gan Qingyun’s behest. And the facts had proven it was indeed all orchestrated by Gan Qingyun.
Disgusted, Meng Yuzhou pulled his hand away from Gan Qingyun’s grasp and said coldly, “Are you satisfied now?”
“W-what do you mean?” Gan Qingyun stared at him uncomprehendingly.
“It’s my fault for wronging you,” Meng Yuzhou forced a bitter smile. “I deserved that beating. Come at me all you want, but I beg you, don’t harm the innocent.”
Having said this, Meng Yuzhou turned to leave, his steps unsteady. Seeing this, Zhong Xiaoxiao hurried over to support him. “Class monitor, let me take you to the infirmary first.”
“Alright.” Meng Yuzhou’s expression softened when facing Zhong Xiaoxiao.
Watching Zhong Xiaoxiao help Meng Yuzhou, Gan Qingyun’s heart burned with jealousy and hatred. She wished she could chop off Zhong Xiaoxiao’s hands that dared touch Meng Yuzhou.
“I never… meant to hurt you,” Gan Qingyun called out to the departing Meng Yuzhou. “Meng Yuzhou, I didn’t want to hurt you…”
“Hah.” Meng Yuzhou let out a cold laugh and turned back to look at her. “Those people weren’t they acting on your orders?”
“I…” Gan Qingyun was momentarily speechless.
“Dare you deny it? Why play innocent now?” Meng Yuzhou found it utterly ridiculous and regretted everything. Why had he ever gotten involved with her? If only he’d refused from the start, none of this would have happened.
“I didn’t, you have to believe me…” Gan Qingyun continued to make excuses.
Meng Yuzhou gave her one last look of disgust before letting Zhong Xiaoxiao lead him away.
Seeing the resentment on Gan Qingyun’s face, Zhong Xiaoxiao thought: Great, she’s definitely going to blame me for this again.
Why was she so unlucky?!
