I Fall Every Time I Meet an Alpha [Transmigrated into a Book] - Chapter 56
Zhong Xiaoxiao watched as a group of people surrounded them and thought, No way, are they going to fight? They can’t! Fighting isn’t allowed in this sacred school!
“Let’s find a place to talk properly,” Li Shiting said, glancing at the siblings before her gaze settled on Zhong Xiaoxiao. “Little one, I still have something to say to you~”
The little one had nothing to say to her.
“What do you want?” Meng Yuzhou stepped forward, shielding his sister and Zhong Xiaoxiao, glaring at the four troublemakers. “Causing trouble openly in school?”
“That’s putting it too harshly. We just want to make friends,” Xie Baojun replied, taking a step forward until he was barely an arm’s length away from Meng Yuzhou. Tension crackled between them.
Xie Baojun somewhat looked down on Meng Yuzhou because he couldn’t control his woman (specifically Gan Qingyun), Du Lingyan had been dragged into this mess. All the shady things they had done were thanks to him.
“Damn it, what a loser!” Xie Baojun suddenly cursed, then shoved Meng Yuzhou’s shoulder provocatively. “You spineless coward, wanna fight? Come on.”
Xie Baojun was taller than Meng Yuzhou, with a rough, muscular build. Meng Yuzhou, on the other hand, looked like a proper student gentle and refined. The shove sent him stumbling back a step.
“Don’t fight, please!” Zhong Xiaoxiao piped up weakly from the side. Why do they have to fight? So annoying, I just want to go home.
Meng Yuzhou clenched his fists, teetering on the edge of an outburst under Xie Baojun’s provocation. But before he could explode, Meng Yuqing stepped in and kicked Xie Baojun in the side, sending him reeling. “Who gave you the right to act so arrogant, huh?”
Meng Yuqing couldn’t fully control her pheromones. When her emotions flared, they leaked out wild and aggressive, assaulting the nearby Omegas. Zhong Xiaoxiao, Li Shiting, and Fang Yu were immediately affected, their legs going weak as their bodies grew limp.
Fang Yu supported Li Shiting, urgency in her voice. “She’s attacking us again. Let’s get farther away.”
Li Shiting nodded, retreating with Fang Yu. Zhong Xiaoxiao, seeing this, also backed away.
Xie Baojun staggered from the kick, nearly falling. “Damn it!” Now truly furious, his eyes burned red as he steadied himself and lunged at Meng Yuqing only for Meng Yuzhou to block his path. Meng Yuzhou grabbed him by the collar and punched him square in the face.
War erupted in an instant.
The air surged with the aggressive pheromones of two Alphas. Meng Yuzhou’s pheromones roared like a ferocious tiger, charging at Xie Baojun, while Xie Baojun’s pheromones bellowed like a mighty lion, rushing back in retaliation.
Tiger and lion clashed, their battle shaking the heavens.
Meng Yuzhou pinned Xie Baojun to the ground, raining down punches without restraint. These past frustrating days had built up a storm inside him, and he needed an outlet and this bastard had walked right into it. The tiger overpowered the lion, tearing into him relentlessly. But the lion thrashed back, flipping the tables and pinning the tiger down.
Meng Yuzhou was knocked dizzy by Xie Baojun’s sudden headbutt. Seizing the moment of his disorientation, Xie flipped Meng over and pinned him down, raining punches upon him until Meng was completely defenseless.
Seeing this, Meng Yuqing moved to intervene, but Wang Sicheng blocked her path.
“What’s the matter?” Wang Sicheng smirked. “Can’t bear to see your brother get beaten? Too bad, you’ll just have to watch.”
Meng Yuqing glared at him, her pheromones flaring aggressively, suddenly morphing into a giant serpent that lunged at Wang Sicheng’s neck with gaping jaws. Wang Sicheng’s pheromones, like a mighty eagle, let out a piercing cry as they swooped down, their sharp talons seizing the serpent’s vital spot and dispersing Meng Yuqing’s pheromones instantly.
Suppressed but unwilling to back down, Meng Yuqing stepped forward and delivered a spinning kick, sending Wang Sicheng stumbling back.
Meng Yuqing: System, switch to combat mode!
System 666: No!
Meng Yuqing: …
The fight naturally caused quite a commotion.
Students screamed in alarm, and soon the school security guards arrived on the scene.
Zhong Xiaoxiao, overwhelmed by the Alpha pheromones, felt miserable and couldn’t even focus on who was winning. Just then, her phone rang from inside her bag. Weakly pulling it out, she saw her mother’s name on the screen and quickly answered, “Uh, Mom…”
“Zhong Xiaoxiao, where are you?” Zhong Yuanyuan’s urgent voice came through. “I think I just saw Yuqing fighting someone, oh my god, what’s going on? Where are you?”
“I’m…” Zhong Xiaoxiao scanned her surroundings while holding the phone, then spotted her mother rushing over in a frenzy.
With the arrival of the “female lead’s mom,” the Meng family driver also showed up, followed by Xie Baojun and Wang Sicheng’s drivers.
“Young master!” They hurried over to pull the four fighters apart. “Young lady!”
“Why are you fighting?”
Security guards and teachers arrived shortly after.
Within minutes, Meng Yuzhou and Xie Baojun were visibly bruised, while Meng Yuqing and Wang Sicheng appeared unharmed but wore dark expressions.
“What happened? Why were you fighting?” the teacher demanded.
No one spoke.
Zhong Yuanyuan grabbed Zhong Xiaoxiao and dragged her away. “Come on, let’s go home!”
“Oh,” Zhong Xiaoxiao mumbled, her eyes lingering on Meng Yuqing.
As if sensing her gaze, Meng Yuqing looked over. Seeing Zhong Xiaoxiao watching her, her expression softened slightly. Zhong Xiaoxiao waved at her, and Meng Yuqing nodded in response.
Zhong Yuanyuan pulled her daughter through the crowd toward their car, muttering all the while, “What were you doing getting involved in someone else’s fight? Do you have no sense of self-preservation? You know how fragile you are right now! And that Meng Yuqing, what was she thinking, picking fights? You’re not allowed to associate with her anymore…”
Once in the car, Zhong Xiaoxiao could still see the group in the distance. She wondered what punishment Meng Yuzhou and Meng Yuqing would face. Would they get disciplinary records? Fighting at school seemed like a serious offense.
“What are you thinking about? Were you even listening to me?” Zhong Yuanyuan frowned at her daughter, exasperated.
“I was,” Zhong Xiaoxiao replied impatiently.
“Hey, don’t get impatient now,” Zhong Yuanyuan started the car and drove off. “Good thing Mom came to pick you up, who knows what might’ve happened otherwise…” She now felt that her decision to personally shuttle Zhong Xiaoxiao around was truly brilliant.
On the other side, after getting no response to several questions, the teacher ultimately let them go. They were told to go home and visit the hospital, with parents required to come to school tomorrow.
Meng Yuzhou and Meng Yuqing got into their family car together.
The siblings sat at opposite ends of the sofa in complete silence.
“Parents are being called in tomorrow,” Meng Yuqing broke the silence after a while, leaning back against the sofa as she addressed her brother in a lazy tone. “How are you planning to explain this at home?”
“Whatever.” Meng Yuzhou responded indifferently, his face bruised purple and swollen like a pig’s head.
“Didn’t expect you to actually act like a proper brother when it mattered,” Meng Yuqing suddenly laughed.
Though physically in pain from the fight, Meng Yuzhou felt mentally relieved. He paid no mind to his sister’s sarcastic remarks.
When they got home, Ye Qincao gasped at the sight of Meng Yuzhou’s injuries. “What happened to you? How did you get hurt?”
“It’s nothing,” Meng Yuzhou said, brushing past his mother to go upstairs.
Watching him ascend, Ye Qincao’s heart clenched with worry. Turning to Meng Yuqing, she asked, “What happened to your brother? How did he get so badly hurt?”
“He got into a fight,” Meng Yuqing replied before heading upstairs herself.
“A fight? How?” Full of confusion but more concerned about her son’s injuries, Ye Qincao quickly called for medical supplies to tend to his wounds personally.
“Brother, open the door,” Ye Qincao knocked from outside.
Inside, Meng Yuzhou stood before the bathroom mirror, wiping blood from his split lip. That bastard had really gone all out, as if they had some deep-seated grudge. In reality, today was their first real confrontation, they’d crossed paths before but weren’t acquainted.
How had he offended him?
More accurately, them.
How had he offended them? Meng Yuzhou couldn’t figure it out no matter how hard he thought.
Remembering the initial girl involved, it seemed the real target had been… Zhong Xiaoxiao?
But how had Zhong Xiaoxiao offended them?
Hearing his mother’s persistent knocking, Meng Yuzhou had no choice but to answer the door.
Ye Qincao’s face filled with concern at the sight of her son’s swollen face. “How are you? Does it hurt? Your sister said you got into a fight, what happened?”
“Mom, I’m fine,” Meng Yuzhou replied, slightly annoyed by her fussing though he didn’t show it.
“How can you be fine looking like this.” Ye Qincao’s eyes welled up. Her son had always been well-behaved and never caused trouble, what could have suddenly provoked him to fight? “Was it because of your sister…?”
“No, Mom,” Meng Yuzhou sighed inwardly. “You’ll need to go to school tomorrow.”
“School?” The mention of a parent-teacher meeting signaled serious trouble to Ye Qincaoo.
“We’ll talk about school later. First, let’s treat these wounds,” she insisted, pushing her way into his room with the medical kit.
The room was neat and tidy, with carpeting, a large bed, a desk, a chair, a coffee table, and two sofas.
Guiding her son to sit on the sofa, Ye Qincao began applying medicine, her heart aching with each application.
Meng Yuzhou showed little reaction, only occasionally frowning in pain. Strangely, he found this pain comforting. It was as if his body had flipped some extraordinary switch, how could pain possibly bring him comfort?
“Does it hurt?” Ye Qincao looked at him with heartache in her eyes. When had he stopped crying out in pain? He’d grown up in the blink of an eye. Like an adult now. So many things he no longer shared with the family, keeping them bottled up inside. What suffering that must be.
