When Meng Yuzhou heard that, his heart sank.

She was right. What did it have to do with him? Whatever happened between a couple was their own business. Even if Zhong Xiaoxiao was being played with or lied to, if she was willing to accept it, what right did he have to step in? It was her life. If she didn’t care, why should anyone else?

Zhong Xiaoxiao looked up at him and then nodded with a shy expression. “Yes.”

Gan Qingyun was standing on the fifth-floor balcony, looking down at the two of them. They were standing under a maple tree, the leaves already turning yellow. She could not hear what they were saying, but suddenly Meng Yuzhou stepped forward and held Zhong Xiaoxiao’s hand. The two of them looked close, like a couple.

Seeing this made Gan Qingyun’s heart burn with jealousy. Her own boyfriend was holding another girl’s hand. Why? How could they treat her like this?

She clenched her fists so tightly that her nails dug into her palms, but she didn’t even notice the pain.

Du Lingyan walked out and saw what was happening below. She smiled with amusement.

“Wow, looks like we just caught a live cheating scene.”

“No need.” Du Lingyan gently touched her lower lip with her thumb, staring at the people in the classroom. She smiled in a strange and confident way. “I like it when she acts all superior. It’s fun to watch.”

The bell rang and students returned to their classrooms.

Meng Yuzhou and Zhong Xiaoxiao came back one after the other.

Meng Yuqing saw them return but didn’t ask what they had talked about. She just listened to their thoughts instead.

Meng Yuzhou’s thoughts: I guess I need to break up with Gan Qingyun now. There’s no point dragging it out. I never really liked her anyway. Better to end it.

Zhong Xiaoxiao’s thoughts: Looks like the male lead is finally breaking up with Gan Qingyun. The plot is finally getting back on track. Yes!

The teacher on the platform suddenly looked over.

The classroom immediately fell silent. More than a dozen eyes turned in her direction. Zhong Xiaoxiao had been ignoring Meng Yuqing playing with her hair, but now that everyone was watching, she became annoyed. She yanked her hair back and gave Meng Yuqing a sharp glare. It was clearly a warning.
