I Entered the Villains’ Den While Pretending to Be a Righteous Man - Chapter 2
Wang Huanxiu’s face darkened completely. Being pinned by his cold, sharp gaze made Bai Shuijin shudder involuntarily.
“You still dare to glare at me!” Bai Shuijin pointed a finger at him.
But halfway through the gesture, a flood of memories that didn’t belong to him suddenly burrowed into his brain.
He had transmigrated. He was inside a novel titled Business Winds.
And the man beneath him was none other than the story’s ultimate villain, Wang Huanxiu.
In the plot, Wang Huanxiu was the kind of antagonist who crushed the protagonist and trampled over side characters, creating endless obstacles and stirring up trouble throughout the hero’s journey. He was the ill-fitting screw in the machine, the thorn in the protagonist’s side.
His fame on the villain leaderboards wasn’t just because of his own deeds, but because his entire family was a nest of villains. The author of Business Winds had written a whole series of “Winds” novels Entertainment Winds, Socialite Winds, etc. While the protagonists changed, the villain roles were consistently occupied by the Wang family.
Essentially, the world he was in now was a fusion of four different “slap-face” novels.
The Family of Villains:
- The Eldest Brother (Wang Huanxiu): A titan of business, the ultimate boss of business-war literature. Ending: Bankruptcy.
- The Second Brother: A mogul in the entertainment world. Ending: Busking on the streets.
- The Third Sister: The “vicious socialite” of Mary Sue literature. Ending: Unrequited love and misery.
- The Fourth and Fifth: A bratty “bear child” and a drama queen.
In short: the Wang family didn’t raise idle people.
As for Bai Shuijin… he searched his memory. There was indeed a minor character with the same name. Not only was he a side character, but he was also part of the “Hero Camp.”
Bai Shuijin’s eyes brightened: Sweet!
But he soon realized the gravity of the situation. Because of the shared name, he had paid extra attention to this character’s ending while skim-reading.
The heroic side character, Bai Shuijin, was caught several times stealing company data for the protagonist. Eventually, the villain ran out of patience, had him sliced into pieces, and fed him to the sharks.
Bai Shuijin: “…”
This trashy novel dare to play me!!
Bai Shuijin silently retracted his finger and rolled off the man’s body.
Huddling on the bed, he clutched his forehead. “Oh boy… I think I have a high fever.”
Wang Huanxiu: “…”
After lying there for two seconds, Bai Shuijin peeked back at him.
Wang Huanxiu said coldly, “Get lost (roll out) already.”
How rude! You’re a villain, so what? I have hands and feet, why should I roll? I’m going to walk!
Bai Shuijin started to get up, but meeting Wang Huanxiu’s sinister, predatory gaze, he faltered. “…Can I not roll? Is crawling, okay?”
He sounded pitiful.
Wang Huanxiu stared at him for two seconds. “Suit yourself.”
Having received permission, Bai Shuijin scrambled across the bed like a little turtle carrying its shell, moving as far away from Wang Huanxiu as possible. But after crawling for ages, he hadn’t made much progress.
Bai Shuijin: “…”
Wang Huanxiu watched his clumsy movements, wondering what kind of scheme the boy was hatching. The next second, he saw that fluffy, rainbow-colored head let out a sigh.
“Forget it. I’ll just roll.”
Wang Huanxiu: “…”
To leave the villain’s sight faster, Bai Shuijin performed a “death roll.” He discovered that rolling was actually much more efficient than using his limbs.
Incredible. I must be the reincarnation of a tumble dryer.
His fair, bare feet stepped onto the plush fur carpet. The comfortable texture made his toes curl instinctively. He slipped on a pair of white cotton slippers and prepared to bolt.
As for where to go he’d worry about that once he was out of this room.
The size of the room left him speechless; one bedroom was as large as a luxury penthouse.
If only there were a thousand mansions to shelter the poor… but here, a thousand mansions are merged into one room.
Bai Shuijin trotted over to a door.
Freedom, here I come!
He pulled it open. Inside was a massive walk-in closet.
Bai Shuijin: “…”
The rows of wardrobes, display cases for watches, and accessories were so vast that even if he stuffed all his clothes, underwear, and socks inside including his dorm curtains he wouldn’t fill a single corner.
Poverty had limited his imagination. There were many doors in this room; surely one led out.
This one! A multi-functional media room… This one! A spa room… This one! A bathroom with a statue fountain…
Bai Shuijin sat on the toilet in defeat. He hadn’t expected to experience the joy of a “blind box” inside a single bedroom.
The power of sinful money. Sometimes I really want to fight you rich people.
He held his head and let out a silent scream, afraid that making a sound would annoy Wang Huanxiu and prompt him to come in and kill him.
Only after losing his life, did he learn to cherish it. Life was incredibly precious to him; he didn’t have the courage to die a second time.
He recalled the plot. He wouldn’t die immediately. At first, the villain ignored this minor heroic character buzzing around him. It was only after the character stole data repeatedly that the villain snapped and did him in.
Bai Shuijin!
Then if I just don’t steal, I’ll be fine!
College students might be prone to making mistakes, but they didn’t do illegal things. Not only would it affect a future civil service exam, but he also wouldn’t be able to graduate.
As long as he didn’t steal, the big villain wouldn’t have a reason to grab his tail. If he just played it safe until the protagonist defeated the villain, he’d be free!
Until then, he would get along with the villain, leave a good impression, watch the wind, the snow, and the moon, talk about poetry and the philosophy of life. Not only would he save his life, but he could also live in this inhumanly luxurious mansion.
He had never lived in a house like this it was like a museum, making him feel like he was one of the exhibits.
As long as they got along and he survived until the finale, his life would remain firmly in his own hands.
Bai Shuijin was instantly delighted. The strategy was perfect; perhaps he really was a genius.
He stood up from the toilet, but when he saw the mirror embedded in the wall, his figure froze.
The person in the mirror had a white face, red lips, black eyes, and rainbow hair.
Bai Shuijin: “…”
What a malicious face. He actually had seven colors dyed into one head.
The face in the mirror was painted deathly pale, as if he had dived headfirst into a sack of flour it had the “beauty” of white-out fluid smeared on skin. The eerily white face paired with bright red lips and thick black eyeliner looked more exaggerated than an opera singer.
The thick eyeliner completely altered his natural eye shape, pulling the corners upward. His natural features had a sense of harmony, so a single change made him look like a completely different person.
Bai Shuijin stood still. That can’t be me, can it?
He tentatively stuck out a foot. The person in the mirror did the same.
Bai Shuijin!
It really was him.
His heart skipped a beat. He had just touched the big villain looking like this! No wonder Wang Huanxiu told him to get lost; it wasn’t just the man’s personality.
Bai Shuijin tried to grin. Usually, when he smiled, a small dimple appeared, and everyone called him cute.
He grinned, and the ghost in the mirror grinned back.
Bai Shuijin: “…”
Restroom horror story.
He quickly looked away, took three steps in two, and reached the sink. He cupped water and began scrubbing his face frantically. If he kept looking, he’d have nightmares.
Only when his face started to sting from scrubbing did he look up again. A clean, youthful face appeared in the mirror.
Bai Shuijin had spirited almond eyes, as clear as a deer lost in the forest. His skin was smooth and translucent, and his lashes were thick at the roots, looking like natural eyeliner that made his eyes even brighter. When he pursed his lips, a small dimple appeared.
This is the real me.
He patted his face. The heroic side character in the book looked exactly like him, but he looked down at his hands and smooth skin. The original body’s skin was much better than his own.
In his previous life, he had no money; one bottle of cheap lotion had to last his whole body. Plus, the long-term part-time night shifts and malnutrition meant his skin wasn’t great. He had a thin face and stood at 176cm. He never got enough sleep and spent every day worrying about tomorrow’s expenses and next semester’s tuition.
He had suffered his whole life. Bai Shuijin looked at himself in the mirror and decided: This time, I’m going to be better to myself.
Wang Huanxiu sat at the head of the bed reading by the light of the bedside lamp. He had already showered and wore a black silk robe. Several red scratch marks left by Bai Shuijin earlier were visible on his neck. His long, elegant fingers held a foreign language book.
His perfect, high-definition face was framed by a pair of glasses he used for reading at night. The collar of his robe was slightly open, and his sturdy, well-defined calves rested on the large bed. He had narrow, long eyes with a smooth transition between his lashes and lower eyelid. He looked through the text with an air of bored indifference.
Click—
The sound of a door opening. Wang Huanxiu lifted his eyelids to see the bathroom door open. Bai Shuijin poked his head out like a groundhog for a while before tentatively stepping out.
He had also showered and wore a spare white bathrobe from the bathroom. Having washed off the heavy makeup, he looked much more refreshed like a university student, which he actually was.
Wang Huanxiu’s obsidian-like eyes rested on his face for two seconds before returning to the book. He had gone to the outer room to shower, assuming this “little waste” would have run away by now, but the boy was still here.
Seeing that the man didn’t glare or tell him to get lost again, a fawning smile appeared on Bai Shuijin’s face.
Let’s get along from now on~ It’s good for Wang Huanxiu, and I get to stay alive.
Bai Shuijin’s calves beneath the robe were snowy white, swaying under the hem. He had washed out all the hair gel, and his rainbow hair hung softly over his forehead.
He cautiously walked to the other side of the bed and clumsily climbed up while watching Wang Huanxiu’s reaction.
“I couldn’t find the exit door, so I’ll just sleep here for the night.”
Wang Huanxiu looked over, and Bai Shuijin froze mid-crawl. He swallowed, waiting for the man to speak. Seconds ticked by, but to his surprise, the man said nothing and went back to his book.
Bai Shuijin didn’t care anymore no answer meant no rejection. He continued crawling.
Wang Huanxiu looked at the book. “Can you even crawl up?”
Bai Shuijin: “…”
Oh, right. I have to roll.
Bai Shuijin lay at the edge of the bed and rolled once, landing in the center of the massive mattress. I really was a tumble dryer in my past life!
He reached out, pulled up the blanket, and covered himself. Seeing that Wang Huanxiu’s calves were still exposed, he reached over and covered him too.
Wang Huanxiu looked at him sideways.
Bai Shuijin grinned, showing a dimple. Heh~
No need to thank me. I’m just that thoughtful.
“We’re married now, let’s get along well in the future…” Bai Shuijin stalled halfway, thinking of how to address him. Using his full name was too distant. After all, if they were to be friends, a close nickname was a vital turning point in a relationship.
If he called him “Big Bad Bch,” he’d be dead for sure.
Bai Shuijin lowered his head shyly. “Hubby.”
After saying it, he turned his head away. How embarrassing.
Wang Huanxiu slammed the book shut with a thud. “Don’t call me that.”
Bai Shuijin peeked out from the blanket with only his eyes showing. “Then what should I call you?” He didn’t forget to add, “I don’t want to use your full name.”
Wang Huanxiu sneered. “You certainly have a lot of things you ‘don’t want’.”
Bai Shuijin acted coy. “Just a little bit a lot.”
“…”
Wang Huanxiu was twenty-six, a successful business tycoon and financial mogul. Bai Shuijin was twenty, just starting university about the same age as Wang Huanxiu’s younger siblings.
“Call me what Mingzhu calls me.”
Mingzhu? Wang Mingzhu? Bai Shuijin remembered Wang Mingzhu was Wang Huanxiu’s sister the vicious socialite second female lead of the “Socialite Winds” novel.
Wang Mingzhu probably called him “Brother” (Ge).
Bai Shuijin opened his mouth. “Okay, Hubby-Ge.”
“…”
Wang Huanxiu ignored him and went back to his book. Just then, the tablet on the nightstand lit up a video conference call. Wang Huanxiu picked it up to hear a project report from his employees.
When the boss’s face appeared on the screen, the employees all caught their collective breath. Their boss’s wedding had been front-page news today, featuring Bai Shuijin’s garish, painted face. It could be said that he had humiliated their boss completely.
They assumed Wang Huanxiu was in a terrible mood. The couple had supposedly entered a marital crisis from the moment they wed. After all, it was hard to love a face like Bai Shuijin’s. If they were on good terms, the boss wouldn’t be holding a meeting on his wedding night.
They would have to be very careful with their report.
Wang Huanxiu muted his microphone, put on his Bluetooth headset, and listened to the report. The warm yellow glow of the bedside lamp illuminated his profile.
Bai Shuijin watched him with wide eyes.
Wang Huanxiu had sharp, handsome features. His “Pacific” wide shoulders paired with a narrow, powerful waist created a perfect inverted triangle. His legs were long; though Bai Shuijin didn’t know his exact height, he guessed he was at least 187cm. Even with the bathrobe in the way, he could imagine the man’s great physique.
Bai Shuijin had never been in love in his past life; the burden of survival was enough to crush him. But he still felt a bit of regret for never having a campus romance. Once he survived until the finale, he would definitely date someone seriously.
He was into guys. There were plenty of gay guys in the dance department, and he was one of them, but he never thought about dating because of his family situation. Love was about two people being happy together; he struggled just to keep himself alive, let alone two people.
Whenever he craved romance, he’d go to the basketball court to watch the college boys play, comforting himself by saying that if he had a boyfriend, he wouldn’t be able to look whenever he wanted. His goal was the whole forest.
But looking at Wang Huanxiu’s face now, he was a bit mesmerized a slight “visual shock.” The way the man quietly looked at the tablet was like a perfect masterpiece carved by a master craftsman.
After the report finished, Wang Huanxiu unmuted his mic to say a few words.
Just then, a sound like a kitten meowing came from beside him.
“Hubby-Ge,” Bai Shuijin called out.
Wang Huanxiu turned his head. Bai Shuijin was buried in the soft pillow, smiling at him with a shy, adorable expression.
“Hubby-Ge, you’re so handsome.”
The employees!!!
That sounded like a voice that had been thoroughly “loved”!!
Holy st! Does the boss actually have this kind of taste?!
