I Could Never Fall In Love With A Villain - Chapter 27
Chapter 27: Could He Be Waiting for Me?
Mu Xuan’s injury caused quite a stir in the Mu household. Of course, the waves were mainly whipped up by Lin Ying. Mu Jiarong, consistent in his indifference, didn’t care much for either his son or daughter.
Lin Ying, seeing a perfect opportunity to perform “motherly concern,” had the kitchen prepare fresh chicken soup and ordered Mu Yin to take it to the hospital before work.
Though reluctant, Mu Yin felt guilty about Mu Xuan getting hurt, so she obeyed and carried the soup to the hospital. As she reached the ward door, a chorus of different female voices drifted out; it sounded lively.
She pushed the door open and blinked. The room was practically a garden of spring blossoms.
She could hardly believe it. A man with a temper as foul as Mu Xuan’s had managed to draw a crowd of beautiful girls just for a leg injury, each more stunning than the last. At the sound of the door, every pair of eyes turned toward her, sizing her up as if she were another “female friend” competing for territory.
Mu Yin felt her presence was a bit too “bright” for this scene. She planned to drop the soup and make a quick getaway.
Then, Mu Xuan’s voice rang out. “What is that?”
Mu Yin placed the chicken soup on the table, only to realize it was already overflowing with various gourmet food boxes. Mu Xuan really has a good life, she thought. He gets injured once and half the city comes to feed him.
“Heartfelt chicken soup from Lin Ying,” she replied.
“…” Mu Xuan glanced at her. He noticed she had only brought what Lin Ying prepared, meaning she had come empty-handed. Heartless girl. “I’m not drinking it.”
“Oh.” Mu Yin nodded, unsurprised. “Then I’m leaving.”
“Where to?”
She gave him a strange look. “To work, obviously.”
“…Oh? Turning over a new leaf? Being so obedient today?” After his usual cold sarcasm, Mu Xuan tilted his chin toward the table. “Don’t be in such a hurry. Go grab that laptop.”
He commanded her with practiced ease.
Mu Yin asked, “I won’t get docked for being late, right?”
Mu Xuan felt a breath catch in his throat. “I won’t dock you! Fine?!”
Only then did Mu Yin move the laptop to the bedside table.
“Open it,” he ordered. “I have a meeting in a bit.”
“What’s wrong?” Mu Yin turned to him with a shocked, plastic smile. “I haven’t seen you for one night, and the doctor already diagnosed that your hands are useless? Did they take you into surgery for a full amputation while I was gone?”
“…”
A couple of coughs came from the side. A girl with long hair smiled and offered, “How about I do it? You must be Mr. Mu’s sister, right?”
Wow, how did she figure that out?
The girls in the room had been silently watching the two bicker. They smiled because the sheer level of mutual hostility made it obvious they were siblings.
Mu Xuan was still fuming. “No, let her do it.”
Mu Yin narrowed her eyes. “Mu Xuan, are you addicted to bossing me around?”
Mu Xuan smiled slowly and said in a low voice, “You wouldn’t want Mu Jiarong to know too many things, would you?”
“?” Mu Yin froze, her eyes burning with rage. She was being blackmailed. But for the current Mu Yin, this was effective. Fine, she could endure a little humiliation.
She reluctantly followed his directions, opening documents and setting up the video call. She stayed silent, fearing that if she spoke again, she would accidentally poison him. Once finished, she tried to back away to stay out of the camera’s frame.
But Mu Xuan, mistakenly thinking she was trying to flee again, instinctively grabbed her wrist.
Mu Yin looked back in surprise. Their eyes met. Time froze for a second.
As if burned, Mu Xuan recoiled, his voice suddenly harsh. “Get out! Get back to work!!”
“…”
Mu Yin decided she’d have Pei Che diagnose Mu Xuan one of these days; the man clearly had a screw loose. Despite the sudden outburst, she was more than happy to make her escape.
Back in the ward, silence fell. The remaining girls noticed that Mu Xuan’s ears were turning a vivid, blood-red color. Before they could process what was happening, Mu Xuan angrily chased them all out. He looked at his reflection in the laptop screen—he looked more flustered than he had ever been in his life. He snapped the laptop shut.
He definitely had a psychological problem.

The Rebel Grandson
At the Song family dinner table, Old Master Song put down his chopsticks. “She is your biological mother, after all. Since she’s going abroad tomorrow and you won’t see her for many years, find time this afternoon to accompany her.”
Song Jinxun nodded. “Alright.”
Song Xingyao said nonchalantly, “Can’t do it.”
Old Master Song didn’t look surprised. “You must. Filial people are the ones who get rich.”
“I really can’t,” Song Xingyao said with a grin. “Because I sent her on vacation this morning.”
Vacation…? Old Master Song’s calm facade cracked. Song Jinxun looked over in shock as well.
“My mom said she wanted to see the sea,” Song Xingyao said smoothly, a smile on his lips. “So I sent her to a coastal city for a holiday. She was very happy. Grandpa, you won’t blame me, right? After all, as you always say: filial people are the ones who get rich.”
Old Master Song gripped his cane, his voice cold. “Have you forgotten your mother’s condition?!”
“Of course I know,” he nodded. “That’s why I consulted a psychiatrist. The doctor said for the first time in years, Mom expressed a desire for entertainment. Since she wants a vacation, she should have one. It’s good for her mental health.”
Old Master Song slammed his cane against the floor. “Bring her back immediately! The tickets abroad are already bought. This is not up for debate!”
The entire Song household fell silent in terror. Only Song Xingyao kept smiling. “It’s just tickets; just refund them. My brother earns enough; he doesn’t mind the loss.”
Ultimately, Old Master Song left in a rage. Song Xingyao refused to bring her back or even reveal which coastal city she was in. Everyone had assumed he’d be the “good grandson” to fight for the inheritance. No one expected him to go rogue like this.
Song Jinxun was baffled. “What’s wrong with you today, going against the Old Man like this?”
“None of your business.”
“Did you go see Mu Yin?” Jinxun asked, probing.
“Mu Yin? Can I get some secrets by visiting my brother’s fiancée?”
Their eyes clashed in the air before they parted ways on bad terms.

The Laboratory Invitation
After work, Mu Yin bought a bag of snacks and went to Peng Ku’s dormitory at Jiabei University. The other roommates were out for dinner.
Peng Ku opened the door, his blank expression turning into one of deep guilt. Mu Yin handed him the food. “Eat first.”
Silence filled the room, broken only by the sound of Peng Ku eating. Once he regained his energy, he opened up.
“The man’s name is Wei Wenbin. He’s from my hometown and has always had a mental illness. I found out he came to Jiabei recently. When I talked to him, he seemed stable… so I got an idea. I offered him a few hundred bucks to let me extract psychological data. He agreed at first, but once we got to the office, he snapped. He thought I was a murderer and wanted to ‘judge’ me. I’m so stupid, I shouldn’t have acted alone…”
“As long as you’re okay,” Mu Yin comforted him. “The police will handle the rest. Don’t worry about the missing data; I’ll solve it. I hired you for your technical skills, not to put your life on the line.”
After cheering him up, Mu Yin left the dorm. As she reached the exit, she saw a familiar figure standing in the glow of the setting sun.
It was Pei Che. His gaze locked onto her immediately.
Huh? I thought he was waiting for someone else. Is he waiting for me?
Mu Yin walked over. “How did you know I was here?”
“I saw you.”
Mu Yin checked her phone. “Then why didn’t you message me?” If he saw her go up and waited downstairs, he must have been there for a long time.
“I saw you carrying a bag of things and figured you were busy, so I didn’t want to disturb you. Waiting a bit doesn’t matter,” Pei Che explained calmly. Then he asked, “Do you have time? Would you like to see the psychology laboratory?”
The laboratory? Mu Yin’s interest was instantly piqued. “Is it convenient?”
“Classes are over. It’s fine.”
Pei Che turned and gestured for her to follow. Mu Yin immediately kept pace.
