I Became the Cure for the Cursed Prince - Chapter 146
“You’re not sick? You’re really pregnant?”
Andrea finally understood what Lucas had said. Her mouth dropped open, but she was too stunned to speak. Dea, looking equally shocked, spoke with wide eyes.
“Then we’re going to have a new sibling?”
“Yes, that’s right.”
“A sibling… A real sibling, not a pretend one!”
At the mention of a “pretend sibling,” both Leon and Lucas laughed at the same time. They remembered how the three children used to argue over who was the older one, calling each other brother and sister just to win. That memory brought easy laughter to their faces.
Andrea, feeling more relaxed after hearing them laugh, slipped out of Lucas’s arms and hurriedly asked her next question.
“When will we get to see the baby? Will it be after ten nights? Or maybe twenty?”
Her face was full of excitement as she counted with her fingers. Lucas, touched by how adorable she was, laughed a little longer before answering her.
“There’s still a lot of time left. You’ll have to wait a few more months.”
Andrea looked at Lucas’s stomach with curiosity, then smiled.
“Since your belly’s not big yet, that means the baby still has to grow a lot, right?”
“That’s right. You’re very smart, Andrea.”
At the same time, both Dea and Andrea clenched their fists with determination.
“When the baby is born, we’ll protect them.”
“We’ll change their diapers, feed them milk, teach them how to hunt, and help them study too.”
Lucas watched the excited children with a smile, then turned his gaze to Leon. Watching Leon alternate between laughing and looking anxious, then smiling again, made Lucas feel relieved.
If the children had not come in and filled the room with energy, Leon might still have been lost in worry and fear.
Leon picked up one child in each arm and gently placed them down from the bed.
“Ru-Dad needs more rest. If you want to teach your new sibling one day, you both need to become smarter first. So it’s time to head back to class now.”
“But I don’t want to leave just yet.”
“The baby won’t be here for a long time. What more do you want to do?”
“We haven’t given our congratulatory kisses yet.”
“That’s right. Real congratulations should come with a kiss.”
The two children teamed up and kissed Lucas on both cheeks.
If Elisha had been there, she probably would have gone straight for his lips. She would have kissed him the longest, not wanting to be outdone by her siblings.
Wanting to share this joyful news with her, Lucas picked up his pen once more.
“Oh my goodness…”
Michelle lowered the letter with a stunned expression. Sion, who had been reading beside her, looked just as surprised.
“Pregnant again?”
“That’s good news. A new niece or nephew will help fill Elisha’s place for now.”
Sion looked at Michelle with disbelief.
“If you think it’s good news, why don’t you just say so? Honestly, you act like you’re desperate to become an ice witch.”
“Hmph. One more child just means more work.”
Sion ran his fingers gently through Michelle’s hair as if brushing it and gave a small, bitter smile.
There was no one besides Leon who would be happier about Lucas’s pregnancy than Michelle. Yet her reaction was restrained.
It was probably because of the quiet sorrow between her and Sion, the reality that they could not have children of their own.
Even though he knew it was something they could not change, Sion still felt a wave of guilt toward Michelle.
“This is no time to just sit here. We should share the happy news with Elisha. But where is she anyway?”
Sion smiled and answered.
“She’s in physical training right now.”
“I see.”
Michelle nodded as if everything made sense. The instructor for physical training was Cappucci, and it was the only class Elisha shared with Oliver.
Elisha had insisted that training should be held every day, but Michelle reminded her that Cappucci had his own schedule, and they agreed on four sessions a week instead of two.
“That child is relentless.”
“Who else could she take after? She is clearly your niece.”
“What did I ever do?”
“Have you forgotten? When you were little, you used to come up with schemes to keep Lucas away so the two of us could play alone.”
“You don’t need to bring that up now.”
Michelle glared at him, but deep inside, she felt tears coming. She bit her lip to hold them back.
She thought of Lucas as a child, always so distant. In Sion’s version of the story, Michelle had schemed to keep Lucas away. But in truth, Lucas had distanced himself on purpose.
After a day when Michelle had fallen seriously ill while playing with him, Lucas had begun to avoid both of them.
Every time something happened, he would shut himself away into his own little world. If someone got hurt because of him, he carried the pain even more deeply.
But Sion had always been loyal. No matter what, he stayed by Lucas’s side.
Lucas always held himself back for the sake of others. Sion, unable to ignore that side of him, kept trying to stay close.
To stop their endless back-and-forth, Michelle had no choice but to play the villain.
It all felt like a memory from just yesterday.
Back then, Lucas was the kind of brother whose name alone would make her cry.
Now, that same Lucas was married, had three children, and was pregnant again.
And the little girl who looked just like her had been sent to live here.
When she really thought about it, life was a series of small miracles.
Caught in rare sentiment, Michelle reached out and took Sion’s hand.
“All the miracles that happened to our family… they’re all because of you.”
She wanted to say it was the reward the Rion family had earned through generations of good deeds. But she didn’t want to ruin the mood, so she just held his hand tightly in return.
That afternoon, after finishing her lessons, Elisha came into her room grumbling about how short physical training had been.
Michelle was already there, waiting.
Why is Aunt Michelle here at this hour? Elisha’s thoughts immediately jumped to whether she had done something wrong.
“Elisha, we received some good news from Teian.”
“Good news?”
Elisha blinked, repeating the words. If the news was from Teian, then it had to be about her fathers.
“You are going to have a younger sibling. And I’m going to have a fourth niece or nephew.”
A sibling? A cousin?
Elisha tilted her head in confusion. Michelle’s calm voice made the message harder to grasp.
But then it hit her. Ru-Dad was pregnant.
“Really?”
“Of course. Why would I lie about something like that?”
Elisha stood frozen. A sibling had never even crossed her mind.
Suddenly her eyes filled with heat, not because she was touched, but because something inside her ached.
“This is so unfair.”
“Unfair? You’re not happy?”
“No. I should be the one beside Ru-Dad right now. The fact that Dea and Andrea beat me to it… I can’t accept that.”
Michelle laughed at how perfectly like Elisha that was.
Watching her often reminded Michelle of herself as a child.
Back then, she had to be the best at everything. Whatever she wanted, she insisted on getting.
Michelle narrowed her eyes and looked at Elisha.
“You’re not going to say you regret moving north, are you? You’re not thinking of going back already?”
“Of course not. I know a promise is something you keep. I’ll go visit once the baby is born. When I do, I’m going to kiss Ru-Dad until his lips are worn out. I won’t even let Dea or Andrea come near him.”
All this over a congratulatory kiss. Watching Elisha clench her fists with such seriousness was almost too funny.
Michelle laughed and replied simply, “Do whatever you want,” then quietly left Elisha’s room.
She walked straight to the temple and brought her hands together in prayer.
She prayed that Elisha would never meet a monster stronger than she could handle.
She prayed that Lucas, his husband, and their children would all grow up healthy and well.
That was all Michelle ever hoped for.
Leon’s nerves were frayed as he cared for Lucas, who was now heavily pregnant.
In Teian, there was a yearly knight festival. Despite his condition, Lucas had insisted on attending.
Leon shook his head in disbelief.
“We don’t even know when the baby will come…”
“I’ll just be sitting in a chair. What’s the problem?”
The truth was, Leon was not really concerned about Lucas’s safety.
There were several beta-born knights assigned to protect him, and most of all, Leon had no intention of leaving his side.
The real issue was that most of the knights participating in the festival were alphas.
Even while heavily pregnant, Lucas somehow still managed to look effortlessly beautiful. That in itself was frustrating.
“Knights are naturally rough. Most of the festival is made up of duels, and there’s no way all that fighting is good for the baby.”
Lucas let out a short laugh, finding the argument ridiculous. Telling a former Northern Grand Duke and renowned monster hunter to avoid rough company was absurd.
“I still have to do my part as the empress.”
Leon tried everything he could to persuade him. He said the children might worry if Ru-Dad looked tired. He even claimed that Asilia had suggested Lucas should rest.
But none of it was enough to change Lucas’s mind.
However, on the day of the knight festival, things took an unexpected turn.
Labor pains started early, and Lucas could not even stand up, let alone attend the festival.
