I Became the Cure for the Cursed Prince - Chapter 128
Just from the way he was carefully choosing his words, Leon could already tell. He was going to lose this conversation again.
“I was just thankful. That even as a recessive omega, I could still love like anyone else. That I could hold precious children in my arms.”
“Lucas, but I…”
I don’t want to go through that pain again.
I don’t want to stand outside the door, barely able to breathe, feeling like my bones are breaking while I wait for you.
There were so many things Leon wanted to say, but he saw it. In Lucas’s expression, in the way he spoke, there was a quiet longing for a simple, normal life. And that was enough to make Leon hold back.
In the end, all he could do was let out a deep sigh. Lucas reached over and placed his hand gently on top of his, but Leon didn’t move.
Then, a memory surfaced. Something Michelle had said one evening over drinks.
That after getting married, raising kids, and letting love mature, things would start to feel easier.
That it’s never simple for two different people to build a family, but time would help.
That love was never meant to be easy.
But for Leon, love had never been easy. Not even once.
Even now, as he slowly turned his hand over and held Lucas’s in return, he whispered in his heart.
Love is really hard.
Just as Leon had expected, Clat joined the trip to Theian without any resistance.
Their group had grown into a full caravan — Leon, Lucas, the three children, Rai, Clat, and even Jerry and Lulu.
Leon sat with Elisha and Andrea on each of his knees. Lucas reached out to call Dea over, but the child shook her head politely. She wanted to walk on her own.
Lucas lowered his eyes, a little disappointed. Every time Dea acted like that, he felt a small pang of sadness.
Seeing his expression, Dea looked slightly guilty and spoke up.
“I’m not a baby anymore, so I’ll ride beside you instead. I can still hold your hand. But why are you sad, Papa Lu? Isn’t it more comfortable if I’m not sitting on your lap?”
Lucas gently placed a hand on her head and answered softly.
“You’re still young enough to be a little clingy. But you’re growing up so fast, and that makes me feel a little sad.”
As Dea paused, seriously thinking about it, Leon gave her thigh a small poke. Dea seemed to understand right away. She let out a quiet sigh and climbed up onto Lucas’s lap.
Lucas tried to hold back a laugh as he lifted her small waist and settled her beside him.
“Actually, I liked holding hands better.”
“I knew it,” she said with a grin.
Her tiny hand reached out and gripped his tightly. One day, this little hand would grow too big to fit inside his own. That thought alone made Lucas’s heart stir.
The carriage began to move.
All the way, the children chatted nonstop with Jerry and Lulu. Leon spent a while translating their lively conversation before suddenly speaking up.
“Since we’re already on the road, how about stopping by Capucci’s place? He invited us a while ago, and I still feel bad that we never went.”
Lucas realized he had completely forgotten about that. Between parenting and work, he hadn’t even had time to think about it.
Back when Michelle was sick, he and Capucci had exchanged messages almost every day. But lately, he had been distant. Somehow, Leon always knew the right thing to say at the right time. In moments like this, Lucas felt that Leon was more thoughtful and mature than he was.
“I heard their youngest is about the same age as our kids. I think they’ll get along.”
As soon as Lucas finished speaking, the carriage changed direction.
Capucci’s home was in one of the warmer areas of the northern region. A village sat nearby, and the land was filled with green plants and trees. The children were amazed by the new surroundings and looked around with wonder and excitement.
A few moments later, Capucci came running out to greet the family.
Lucas turned to the children and said,
“Make sure to say hello to Uncle Capucci.”
The children stood in a line, brought their hands together in front of their bellies, and said politely,
“Hello.”
“You’ve all come a long way. Thank you. I’ve prepared lots of good food, so let’s head inside.”
After the greeting, Capucci looked at Lucas. His eyes showed warmth and a deep sense of familiarity that had built up over time apart.
Capucci’s wife stepped out and led the children into the house. Only after they were gone did the adults finally exchange their own greetings.
“It’s been a while,” said Lucas.
“How’s your furniture shop doing?”
Leon gave a quiet laugh.
“That’s the first thing you ask an old friend you haven’t seen in forever?”
Capucci smiled and gently sided with Lucas.
“I don’t mind. I know he means well, even if he doesn’t always show it in words. Let’s go inside.”
The three of them walked into the house together. The home was built with thick bricks to keep out the cold, and the inside walls were lined with wood, giving the space a warm and cozy feeling.
Capucci’s son and Lucas’s three children had already finished their greetings. They were sitting together in front of the fireplace, playing with toys and laughing.
Although they occasionally attended lessons with noble children, those chances were rare. The children had always longed to spend time with friends their own age.
Watching them play happily, Lucas turned to Capucci and asked,
“I don’t see your older kids.”
“There’s a big age difference. They don’t really play with the youngest.”
“There’s quite a big age gap, so the older ones don’t really play with the youngest. And since the youngest is an omega, there’s a difference in energy levels too. The older kids are probably helping out at the furniture shop right now.”
“When I first saw them, they were just little kids. I can’t believe they’re already working. That’s impressive.”
Lucas spoke with genuine admiration.
That evening, everyone gathered around the dinner table, sharing a warm meal together. Afterward, they sat by the fireplace, enjoying the time they had missed and talking about everything they hadn’t had the chance to say.
The only small disruption came when Capucci suddenly reached out for a handshake, saying he had never even held Leon’s hand before. Leon’s eyes narrowed slightly at the gesture, but the moment passed quickly, and the rest of the evening stayed peaceful.
Elisha stared quietly into Oliver’s eyes. He was the son of her Papa Lu’s old friend. His green eyes were so bright and full of color that they reminded her of a forest.
“Wow…”
The word slipped from her lips before she could stop herself. Oliver’s face turned red as he quickly looked away.
Startled, Elisha asked,
“Why are you turning away?”
He didn’t answer.
“Come on, look this way again.”
As Elisha reached out to grab Oliver’s chin, Dea caught her by the wrist.
“That’s rude.”
Elisha glared at Dea, clearly not happy.
Andrea, who knew how these arguments could go on forever once they started, quickly stepped in to calm things down.
“Elisha, put your hand down. And Oliver, would you mind looking at her for just a moment? That way, Elisha won’t grab your chin, it won’t be rude, and Dea won’t get upset.”
Everyone agreed with Andrea’s suggestion and followed it without complaint. But no one could fully relax. Once a fight starts, it often finds a new reason to begin again.
Andrea decided to take Dea outside before things turned into a bigger fight.
“Let’s ask Uncle Capucci to show us his study. He might have some rare books in there.”
“Oh, okay. Sounds good.”
As Andrea led Dea out of the room, she winked at Elisha, who replied with a small nod. Between Dea, who always acted like she knew everything, and Andrea, who was smart and quick to understand people, Elisha definitely preferred Andrea.
Elisha turned her eyes back to Oliver. His face was full of fear, and it looked like he might start crying any moment.
Was he scared because she got too angry with Dea earlier?
“Are you about to cry?”
“N-no! I wasn’t going to cry!”
“Good, good. Crying over something like that is for babies.”
“Mmm…”
Oliver bit his trembling lip. Elisha noticed a pale mark forming where his small teeth pressed against the skin. She suddenly spoke again.
“Hey, Oliver. You know what?”
“What?”
“Have you ever been to Theian?”
“Of course not!”
“Then do you want to come with me to Theian? There’s a big greenhouse full of cute animals, and tons of cool toys, and the house is huge, and there’s even a lake. What do you think?”
Oliver tilted his head and thought seriously about it. He had never been anywhere outside of Rion, so the idea excited him. But something was bothering him.
“Can I go with my mom and dad?”
“Um, well… that might be a little hard. Uncle Capucci has work to do, remember?”
Oliver shook his head right away.
“Then I don’t want to go!”
Elisha’s face crumpled with frustration. Her expression twisted so badly it looked like she might explode with anger again, just like before.
Oliver, scared she would yell at him, began to tear up. His voice shook as he tried to calm her down.
“I-I’ll try asking… but I don’t think it’ll work…”
