I, A Loyal Dog, Awaken to My Fate as Cannon Fodder - Chapter 27
Returning to the Cheng residence, Luo Yejun was fuming from the soles of his feet to the tips of his hair.
In what way was he inferior to Shen Yinan?
Seeing a servant about to head to the second floor to deliver a meal, he furrowed his brows, looking at the maid as if he were seeing Shen Yinan herself.
“Give the food to me, I’ll deliver it,” Luo Yejun said with a long, cold face.
The maid noticed Luo Yejun behind her and relayed Cheng Wanqiu’s words.
“Master Luo, the Young Lady said that if you are the one delivering the food, she won’t eat it.”
“Nonsense!!!” It was as if Luo Yejun’s sore spot had been poked. How could his future wife refuse a meal delivered by him? He was the man, after all; there was no way a woman wouldn’t listen to her man.
“You’re a mere servant full of lies! I’m going to tell my uncle to fire you!!!”
“But firing me requires paying three months’ wages. I wonder if the Master and the Young Lady would agree to that.”
“You… you… you!!!” Luo Yejun was nearly driven mad by this maid. He felt as though he were seeing Shen Yinan again; it seemed every woman was out to provoke him just like she did.
He snatched the tray directly from the woman’s hands.
Then, he said viciously, “Don’t let me see you again!!!”
Almost half of the servants in the Cheng household disliked this Master Luo. He loved nitpicking and was constantly threatening to report people to get them fired.
Inevitably, those with a rebellious streak would snap back at him with a few words.
Nowadays, Luo Yejun was loathed by the circle of servants in the Cheng house; even the dogs steered clear of him.
And yet, this kind of person thought he could be a leader and serve as the Vice President of the Student Union.
Even a dog would shake its head at the thought.
Knock, knock, knock. The sound of tapping on the door.
Luo Yejun cleared his throat and said gently, “Sister Wanqiu, it’s time to eat.”
Cheng Wanqiu didn’t give him an ounce of face. “Get lost!!!”
The person standing outside the door clenched his fists. Thinking that the person inside belonged to him, he suppressed his temper.
“Just have one bite, Sister. I don’t want to see you get sick.”
Luo Yejun was a master of pretense. His facial features were cute; this face would be eye-catching on anyone. Unfortunately, a good skin was paired with a rotten personality.
“I said, as long as it’s you delivering it, I won’t eat it!!!”
Damn it, Luo Yejun thought to himself. Cheng Wanqiu must look down on him.
In what way was he inferior to Shen Yinan?
“Today, you’ll eat whether you want to or not. I’ve indulged you long enough, Cheng Wanqiu. You are my fiancée now, and we will be together for a long, long time.”
“Don’t even think about looking for Shen Yinan. A nobody like her—I could make her disappear from this world whenever I want!”
“Luo Yejun, you wouldn’t dare!!!” Cheng Wanqiu shouted, provoked.
Her words stabbed right into his lungs. “You are just inferior to Shen Yinan. A dignified young master acting like a petty thief, only knowing how to do sneaky, underhanded things.”
As she said this, her heart felt incredibly clear and bright. “Compared to Shen Yinan, you are ten thousand times worse!!!”
Being told he was worse than Shen Yinan was Luo Yejun’s ultimate trigger.
Suddenly, a loud crash of porcelain breaking rang out from outside.
Cheng Wanqiu guessed that Luo Yejun had smashed the bowls in a fit of rage.
She was both defiant and happy.
“Hahaha.” A hearty laugh echoed from within the room, followed by a sudden chill as she said coldly, “Shen Yinan would never be like you—clinging desperately and losing her mind with rage.”
Shen Yinan had also gone through a period of delivering food to Cheng Wanqiu every day.
Back then, Shen Yinan had just arrived at the Cheng house. Simply finding a playmate wasn’t enough to pull Cheng Wanqiu out of the grief of losing her parents.
It was Shen Yinan who tirelessly delivered meals every day, offering gentle whispers of “Good morning” and “Good afternoon.”
Shen Yinan was not a person of many words. Every time, she would knock softly on the door and say, “Miss, it’s time to eat.”
If it was the morning, she would say, “Miss, good morning. It’s time for breakfast.”
Recalling Shen Yinan, tears unconsciously filled Cheng Wanqiu’s eyes.
Finally, one day, Cheng Wanqiu tried opening the door. She ate the food left outside and left the empty plate.
Shen Yinan would go to check on the cold food every half hour. Seeing the empty plate, she picked it up and revealed a joyful smile unlike any she had shown before.
Cheng Wanqiu knew that it was through Shen Yinan’s repeated acts of delivering food that her heart had finally opened up.
This was something Luo Yejun could never compete with. Shen Yinan was the most special one.
“Fine, fine, fine! Cheng Wanqiu, don’t even think about stepping out of this room this month. Next month, I’ll have my uncle hold an engagement ceremony for us. I want to see if your precious Shen Yinan will still accept you then!”
Luo Yejun spoke with an extremely malicious tone, a sinister smile of “doing a good deed” plastered on his face.
“I want to announce to everyone that you belong to me, Luo Yejun!!!”
He threw down those words and left, leaving Cheng Wanqiu alone in the room.
Cheng Wanqiu felt nothing but deep Revulsion.
Deep in the darkness, she missed Shen Yinan even more.
Shen Yinan felt that Cheng Wanqiu was her light, but wasn’t it the same for Cheng Wanqiu?
It was Shen Yinan who pulled her back from the pain of her parents’ death.
Cheng Wanqiu used the most direct and simple love to warm Shen Yinan.
Cheng Xian knew all of this. A fountain pen spun once in his hand as he looked up warmly at Luo Yejun.
It was just children bickering. As long as he found a man for Cheng Wanqiu, he would have fulfilled his duty to her parents.
“Alright. At the beginning of next month, I will prepare the engagement banquet for you and Wanqiu.”
Luo Yejun secretly rejoiced. Coming back to his senses, he took a festive red invitation and handed it to Shen Yinan.
“Remember to attend the engagement banquet for Wanqiu and me at the beginning of next month. Since you used to follow her around, it would be wrong not to invite you.”
Luo Yejun was smug. Only at times like this did he feel like a chicken that had flown up to a high branch.
No matter how excellent Shen Yinan was, she still couldn’t have Cheng Wanqiu. She must be very angry right now.
The angrier, the better—until she lost her mind.
Luo Yejun’s face practically shouted the words: “Come and hit me.”
If Shen Yinan hit him, he could immediately fall down and complain to everyone.
“I’ll accept the invitation.”
However, Shen Yinan was not angry. She even faced Luo Yejun with a smile.
This was the mixed bag of the Student Union. She used two fingers to clip the invitation and tucked it into her pocket.
Many onlookers were surprised. As expected of the Vice President—calm and unruffled in the face of trouble.
Shen Yinan would smile when she was angry, and smile when she was happy. However, in the former case, she would bite the tip of her tongue, using pain to keep her mind sharp.
One should know just how much she wanted to slit Luo Yejun’s throat right now.
“You!” Luo Yejun glanced at the people around him and withdrew the finger he was pointing at Shen Yinan.
“Fine. You must come. I’ll be waiting for your blessings.”
Whether it was a blessing or a curse… that remained to be seen.
“I will definitely give you a grand gift.”
When she said this, Shen Yinan was clearly smiling, yet her voice sounded incredibly bone-chilling.
…
The meeting adjourned. During the meeting, Shen Yinan had been thinking about how to deal with that fellow, Luo Yejun.
Just then, a flash of inspiration hit her. She remembered that Old Master Cheng would never allow the outside world to gossip about the Cheng family.
Thinking of how brainless Luo Yejun was, with just a little bit of instigation, it would be all too easy for him to commit some illegal acts.
As the people in the meeting room filed out, Shen Yinan picked up her phone and sent an anonymous letter to Luo Yejun.
Perhaps Luo Yejun didn’t know yet that his lackey had already been bought off.
Wang Wang was now a complete “fence-sitter.”
If Luo Yejun found out that even his own lackey had betrayed him, how would he feel?
The mere thought made Shen Yinan’s scalp tingle with a nervous pleasure.
[Master Luo, Wang Wang has already submitted to me. You’re such a straw man, you still don’t know it yet.]
The name at the bottom of the letter was a single character, one that overlapped with the person who used to bully Luo Yejun.
Upon receiving the letter, Luo Yejun’s hands trembled with fear. He quickly associated the sender with a person who frequently bullied him.
Waves of terror washed over him, and a sudden chill ran down his spine.
A mere dog-slave dared to betray him? It was an absolute humiliation.
Shen Yinan’s eyes remained fixed on the school forum. Before long, this Master Luo would become famous.
By the time of the engagement banquet at the start of next month, everyone would know of his deeds.
Old Master Cheng would never tolerate someone who tarnished the Cheng family’s reputation.
Returning to the dormitory, Shen Yinan heard her roommates discussing the matter of Luo Yejun.
“Shen Yinan, come over and look! There was actually a murder in our school.”
Shen Yinan remained calm and collected, as if she knew nothing. “Oh? Really?”
“He’s even a member of the Student Union. You should be careful there.”
Shen Yinan looked “silly and sweet,” making others worry. “Everyone in the Student Union is quite nice; we get along harmoniously, and it’s very peaceful.”
The dorm leader grabbed her arm and pressed her down into a seat, speaking earnestly, “You’re too naive. Human hearts are unpredictable; how can everything be peaceful?”
Many people cared for Shen Yinan and were genuinely good to her, like this dorm leader.
The dorm leader held one of Shen Yinan’s hands in both of hers and said with heavy heart:
“Be careful in the Student Union from now on. You’re dealing with those nasty rich kids all by yourself; I really don’t know how you survive.”
Shen Yinan was doing just fine. She hadn’t gone around announcing that she was the Vice President, so many people didn’t know.
She just nodded to humor her roommate after hearing those words.
“Mhm, I understand. I’ll be careful.”
Luo Yejun had killed Wang Wang.
Dealing with a nobody was effortless. He went to the store, bought a fruit knife, and kept it in his hand the whole way back to the dormitory.
A lowly dog-slave dared to betray him—it was a crowning insult.
Murder was against the law, but the Cheng family protected him, finding a scapegoat to take the fall for Luo Yejun’s intentional homicide.
However, the incident still left a stain.
The Cheng family announced that Luo Yejun had simply discovered his roommate’s body and that the real culprit had fled after the killing.
Shen Yinan told the truth behind the scenes, secretly providing evidence of Luo Yejun’s murder to Wang Wang’s family.
Although the matter was suppressed, the storm of public opinion continued to churn.
“I imagine that at next month’s engagement banquet, everyone will be talking about the future son-in-law of the Cheng family.”
She wanted to see just how “glorious” Luo Yejun’s engagement banquet would be.
Now, Shen Yinan enjoyed the silence of the massive Shen family villa alone. Those people from the Shen family had all been driven away by her.
She was now the master of the Shen family.
Taking the five million given by the Cheng family, she had revived a collapsed company, and all the shares were now in her hands.
Although she used a bit of violence along the way—forcing her father and in-laws to “voluntarily” hand over their shares.
She realized she was no longer that helpless ten-year-old child.
In nearly ten years, she had turned the tables. To those who had once bullied her, she was now paying them back one by one.
