Husband, Let Your Husband Treat Your Illness - Chapter 21
Chapter 21
After knowing that Ye Mo was alright, Ye Huan hurried home to rest. Fortunately, this “little ancestor” hadn’t come to any harm; if something had truly happened, not only his eldest brother but all of them would have been severely dealt with. How could they still live such carefree lives? Luckily, the rest of the Ye family didn’t know about this, otherwise, he really wouldn’t know how to clean up the mess.
Dongfang Jin, meanwhile, took Ye Mo and Dongfang Yongxiao back to the Dongfang family compound. The Dongfang family had been frightened out of their wits after learning of Ye Mo’s disappearance, so they needed to return quickly to report that he was safe. On the way back, Dongfang Yongxiao was nearly driven crazy. For the sake of recovering from the fright, the two of them sat in the back seat, leaving Dongfang Yongxiao in the front to listen to the couple’s sweet talk.
“Mo, you have no idea how worried I was about you.” Dongfang Jin looked at Ye Mo’s small face, really wanting to lean in for a kiss, but remembering Dongfang Yongxiao was in the front, he had to endure it for a bit longer.
“I saw it. I saw your heart-wrenching pain for me, and it broke my heart too.” Ye Mo’s sudden romantic line made the expression on Dongfang Jin’s face bloom like a flower. For a long time now, it had been rare for Dongfang Jin to hear such a thing from Ye Mo.
“Mo, from now on, I’ll just work at our family hospital. That way I won’t be too far from you and can see you every moment.” Dongfang Jin ran his fingers through the tips of Ye Mo’s hair, gently resting Ye Mo’s forehead against his lips for a light kiss, then smelled Ye Mo’s hair which still carried a hint of seawater. “Mo, you smell so good.”
“Dongfang Jin, you decide on your own work. I won’t interfere with you this time; do whatever you want.” Ye Mo brushed away Dongfang Jin’s hand from his hair, interlaced his fingers with that hand, then lifted it to plant a kiss on the back of Dongfang Jin’s hand. “Do you know what I was thinking the moment the plane had its accident?”
Dongfang Jin’s face was full of curiosity. He looked forward to the answer Ye Mo would give, quietly watching Ye Mo’s face and feeling every breath he exhaled. “What were you thinking? In what could have been the final moment of your life.”
“I was thinking…” He trailed off for a long, long time, teasing Dongfang Jin’s anticipation.
Dongfang Jin thought to himself: Was he thinking about how he wouldn’t see me again? But the next thing Ye Mo said left Dongfang Jin not knowing whether to laugh or cry.
“I thought I would never get to eat the food you cook again.” Three black lines fell over Dongfang Jin’s head. Between laughter and tears, he looked at the man before him, whose handsome face carried a thick smile, and wished he could swallow him whole in one bite.
“Dongfang Jin, at that time, the thing I felt most regretful about was not eating the food you made for me, and not responding to your love. Rest assured, starting from today, I will respond to your love one by one.” This sentence from Ye Mo was like sprinkling a layer of high-intensity sugar on Dongfang Jin’s heart; he was suddenly so happy he felt a bit lightheaded.
“Yongxiao! Did you hear that just now? Did you hear what Mo said to me?” After saying this, he even tugged at Yongxiao’s sleeve and patted his back.
“I heard it, Brother. I’m not deaf. Calm down, I’m still driving.” Yongxiao really couldn’t stand this grown man. Why hadn’t he noticed before how pretentious and childish his big brother could be? Or was it that this pretentiousness and childishness were reserved only for Ye Mo? Dongfang Yongxiao decisively chose to believe the latter. Seeing Dongfang Jin like this, he was also very relieved.
“Mo, do you know how I feel? It’s like spring rain after a long drought.” Dongfang Jin’s mood couldn’t settle for a long time. At this moment, Ye Mo delivered an even bigger “bomb.” Ye Mo gradually hooked his arms around Dongfang Jin’s neck and pressed his mouth against Dongfang Jin’s lips, moving from the lips to the cheek, and then to the ear. Dongfang Jin had never seen Ye Mo so proactive, so he responded passionately.
“Ahem, ahem.” In the front seat, Dongfang Yongxiao really couldn’t watch any longer through the rearview mirror, so he had to cough dryly a few times to signal the dissatisfaction of the “brother” sitting in the front.
Only then did the two realize someone was in the front seat. They withdrew their “divine powers” and sat quietly, but their hands never separated, fingers interlaced, quietly watching the road ahead.
The three finally returned to the Dongfang family compound. As soon as they entered the door, everyone in the Dongfang family stood up. Seeing this, the three understood that everyone already knew about the incident. The whole family flocked over to offer their concerns.
“Mo, where did you go? Your eldest aunt was worried to death.”
“Yes, Grandma and Grandpa didn’t even eat because of this.”
“Mo, in the future, if you young couple have a fight, you can’t act like this.”
“Exactly, Xiao Mo. If Xiao Jin bullies you, just say so and see how I handle him.”
“Yes, Mo, we will all back you up.”
“Big Brother, hurry up and coax Xiao Mo.”
Now it was Dongfang Jin’s turn to have a headache. This matter clearly wasn’t his fault, so why did it turn into a barrage of accusations against him? He really felt like he couldn’t wash himself clean even if he jumped into the Yellow River.
“This time it wasn’t Dongfang Jin’s fault; I was just too headstrong. It was all my fault. I wasn’t very willing when I heard he was going out to do surgery, so I threw a little tantrum.” Dongfang Jin looked at Ye Mo with an almost grateful gaze. His “wife” was truly amazing, even standing up to speak for him so he could dodge so many denunciations. Ye Mo thought that by saying this, the Dongfang family would let Dongfang Jin off. Who knew it would instead trigger a wave of voices:
“Dongfang Jin, I told you long ago to work in our own family hospital but you wouldn’t listen.”
“Xiao Mo, don’t lower yourself to his level. I’m giving him a dead-set order now: he’s not allowed to go out for cases; he stays in our own hospital.”
“Xiao Jin, you really don’t know how to cherish Xiao Mo. You haven’t been together that long and you’re already going to live apart? You have to take responsibility!”
Dongfang Jin was completely “black-lined.” It seemed he wouldn’t be able to escape today; this denunciation wasn’t going to stop.
“Haven’t we all not eaten yet? Let’s eat quickly, I’m hungry.” Ye Mo successfully diverted the topic to save Dongfang Jin from more “damage.” Dongfang Jin looked at his wife, truly moved to the point of tears.
Who knew that even at the dinner table, Dongfang Jin still couldn’t escape the accusations.
“Xiao Jin, take care of Xiao Mo, put more food in his bowl.”
“Xiao Mo, eat this. Xiao Jin, take better care of him.”
Similar words filled the entire dinner scene. Seeing this, Ye Mo couldn’t help but let out a laugh, “Hahahaha.” From small giggles at the start to boisterous laughter, everyone at the table looked on curiously.
“Mo, what is it?” Dongfang Jin asked.
“I just feel that the atmosphere at home is so good. I haven’t had this kind of feeling in a long time.” As Ye Mo began to speak, everyone quieted down to listen. “At my home, because everyone is busy, there’s never a chance to have a good meal, let alone have an atmosphere like this. I have to thank Dongfang Jin for giving me a home like this.” Ye Mo looked at Dongfang Jin beside him, his eyes full of tenderness and trust.
Seeing Ye Mo treat Dongfang Jin this way, everyone was very happy, and their liking for Ye Mo increased several-fold. The elders looked at Dongfang Jin’s partner and liked him more and more. Dongfang Jin’s grandmother, Mrs. Wang, looked at this first “grandson-in-law” with eyes full of love. “Xiao Mo, come with me.”
Ye Mo looked at Dongfang Jin, who signaled for him to follow. “Don’t be afraid, Grandma won’t say anything bad to you. Go on.” Thus, Ye Mo followed Grandma upstairs.
Downstairs, the place erupted like a boiling pot, with people chirping and gossiping about Dongfang Jin and Ye Mo.
“Big Brother, which of you is on top and which is on the bottom?”
“Big Brother and Sister-in-law almost couldn’t hold back on the way here just now.”
“Really? Eighth Brother! Hurry up and tell us.”
Before another word could be said, they were shut down by a sharp “eye-dagger” from Dongfang Jin.
Ye Mo followed Mrs. Wang upstairs into the elders’ room. The decorations inside were very archaic and elegant, filled with a sense of history. The elders had maintained it well; there wasn’t a single scratch or dent. It still carried the flavor and atmosphere of that era.
Grandma sat by the bed and beckoned Ye Mo to come over. “Xiao Mo, come here, sit by Grandma.”
“Okay, Grandma.” Ye Mo sat very obediently by the bed, leaning toward Grandma. Originally, Ye Mo wasn’t used to being alone with elders, but for some reason, he had a natural fondness for the Dongfang grandmother, a fondness from the bottom of his heart. Toward this elderly woman, a sense of affection welled up inside him.
“Xiao Mo, is Xiao Jin good to you?”
“He is very good to me, Grandma. He cooks for me, and when I cause a fuss or act headstrong, he always yields to me.” As Ye Mo spoke the words himself, he realized that unconsciously, Dongfang Jin had already done so much for him.
“This part is very much like your grandfather,” Grandma said. “Back then, when I was young, your grandfather always yielded to me like that. To me, he was just like today’s Xiao Jin is to you.”
“Grandma, was Grandpa like that before too?”
“Yes, when your grandfather was young, he was very romantic. Hahahaha.” Grandma’s laugh seemed to melt Ye Mo. “Oh right, the reason Grandma called you here is to give you this.” Saying this, Grandma took a small brocade box from the cabinet and handed it to Ye Mo.
“Grandma, this is?” Ye Mo examined the small box; although it didn’t look expensive, it exuded an air of elegance. “Open it and see,” Grandma said with a smile.
Ye Mo opened the box. It was a bracelet. One could tell at a glance it was of superior quality; the jade was translucent, the color pure, and not a single flaw could be seen with the naked eye. The character “Jin”was carved onto it. “Grandma, what is this?” Ye Mo looked closely at the jade bracelet in his hand; he actually felt an affinity for it, liking it at first sight.
“Xiao Mo, this is for you,” Grandma said.
“Grandma, this is too precious. You should keep it. How could I dare accept such a gift from you? Good jade is becoming rarer and rarer; this is clearly a treasure. Giving it to me would be a waste.” Ye Mo quickly refused; he really felt it was inappropriate to take the bracelet.
“Silly child, this is for you guys.” Seeing Ye Mo didn’t quite understand, Grandma continued to explain, “This bracelet is prepared for every child born into the Dongfang family. If it’s a boy, it’s a bracelet; if it’s a girl, it’s a pendant.”
Ye Mo finally understood and nodded. Grandma continued, “Take this. When you get married in the future, bring it out to wear.”
“Grandma, thank you.”
“Silly child, we’re all one family, why say thank you? Good boy, let’s go down to eat.”
“Alright.” The family love that Ye Mo had lacked for twenty years was completely filled in during these few days. He truly saw the love the Dongfang family had for him.
As Ye Mo and Grandma walked downstairs, they happened to hear Dongfang Yi saying, “Big Brother, what is Sister-in-law like in bed? Tell us about it.” Dongfang Yi was sitting with his back to the stairs and didn’t see Ye Mo walking down. Dongfang Jin was frantically winking at him, telling him to stop talking, but Dongfang Yi was getting more and more excited, “Sister-in-law is usually so cold and aloof, he must be different in bed, right?”
Seeing Ye Mo’s expression and gaze gradually turn icy, the whole family began mourning for Dongfang Yi in their hearts. “What are you talking about? Let me and Grandma listen too.” A voice came coldly from behind Dongfang Yi. Dongfang Yi shuddered and turned around, wishing he could kneel before Ye Mo. “Sister-in-law, I was wrong!”
“What did you call me?”
“Mo! I was wrong, please let me go.” Ever since the last time he got drunk, Dongfang Yi had been terrified of his “Sister-in-law.”
“Xiao Mo, for Grandma’s sake, let him off.”
“Okay, Grandma. Please sit, have some more to eat.”
Dongfang Yi was sweating from the scare. Hearing that “Okay” was like a general amnesty, he returned to the table to eat.
Ye Mo didn’t scold Dongfang Yi; instead, he focused solely on attending to Grandma, which made Dongfang Jin quite jealous.
“Mo, put some food in my bowl.”
“Don’t you have hands yourself?”
“Then what about Grandma?”
“You’re even jealous of Grandma? Do you have any sense at all?”
“I don’t care! Give me some.”
“Scram!”
Everyone at the table laughed seeing this. The entire dinner was filled with a joyful atmosphere, as if the plane crash had never even happened.
