How I Accidentally Bent My Best Friend - Chapter 57
Lu Wei couldn’t stop the corners of her mouth from lifting as she gazed approvingly at the text description, nodding repeatedly in agreement. Hmm, wasn’t this just describing Chen Yushu?
Absolutely spot on!
Lu Wei closed her phone contentedly, feeling as though a happy life was already waving at her from the distance.
Although Chen Yushu hadn’t yet realized her true sexual orientation, deep down, she was definitely not straight. As long as Lu Wei subtly guided and influenced her, one day their relationship would undergo a qualitative leap.
The more Lu Wei thought about it, the happier she became. Leaning back on the sofa, she propped her chin in her hand and stared at Chen Yushu’s profile, her eyes sparkling. She felt that Chen Yushu was perfect in every way just looking at her filled Lu Wei with boundless joy.
“Why are there still so many people?” Chen Yushu stood up and glanced inside the barbershop. When she turned her head, she saw Lu Wei staring straight at her with a grin. Chen Yushu felt a shiver. “Why are you grinning like an idiot with your teeth on full display?”
“Am I?” Lu Wei quickly adjusted her expression, suppressing her smile and reminding herself to tone it down. “Is it still not our turn? Should we go get our haircut outside the school instead?”
Chen Yushu hummed in agreement and sat back down. “Forget it, let’s wait a little longer.”
“Okay.” Lu Wei responded, her gaze drifting toward Chen Yushu from time to time. Seeing her engrossed in her phone, Lu Wei grew restless. She subtly shifted her position and placed her hand on the back of the sofa, letting her fingertips lightly rest on Chen Yushu’s shoulder.
It was almost as if she was embracing her from behind.
After doing this, Lu Wei breathed a small sigh of relief. Just then, her phone chimed, and Chen Yushu immediately looked up at her. Lu Wei swallowed nervously, but fortunately, Chen Yushu didn’t seem to notice her intentions.
Wait a minute! Lu Wei felt puzzled. In the past, she could hug Chen Yushu whenever she wanted, even kiss her cheek. So why was she suddenly so restrained now, afraid to do this or that?
Could it be because she now had ulterior motives, making her feel guilty?
Lu Wei had to admit it. But, after all, Chen Yushu would be her wife one day was it really a crime to hug her in advance?
With that thought, she stole a glance at Chen Yushu and began to feel restless again. Her hand inched forward at a snail’s pace, about to wrap around Chen Yushu’s shoulder, when suddenly, Chen Yushu straightened her back and tilted her head backward.
Instantly, Lu Wei flinched and retracted her hand as if electrocuted. Her exaggerated reaction startled Chen Yushu as well. “What’s wrong with you?”
“Th-there’s a bug.” Lu Wei put on a frightened expression.
“Where?” Chen Yushu stood up and looked around. “I don’t see any.”
“Maybe it flew away.” Lu Wei pulled her back down to sit, taking the opportunity to move even closer. On the surface, however, she pretended to be calm as she scrolled through her phone. She hadn’t checked the messages in her roommate group chat yet. When she opened it, she found that Song Xin had recommended a recently popular girls’ love drama.
In the past, she would have ignored such things, but now, she skimmed through the chat history, found the title of the drama, and couldn’t resist searching for it online. She discovered that there were quite a few fan-made edits and adaptations it really was popular.
An idea struck her. Lu Wei opened one of the most-viewed videos, gathered her courage, and then gently poked Chen Yushu’s elbow. In a soft voice, she said, “My friend recommended a drama to me recently. She said it’s really good. Do you want to watch it?”
Chen Yushu: “What genre is it?”
“She didn’t say.” Lu Wei took out her Bluetooth earbuds and handed one to Chen Yushu. “But there’s a video here. It seems like a lighthearted campus drama.”
With that, Lu Wei moved her phone to the center, pressed play, and subtly observed Chen Yushu’s reaction.
She had just seen in the group chat that this was a sweet campus youth drama perfect for subtly guiding Chen Yushu!
The video began with the two female leads reuniting on campus. The scenes were overwhelmingly sweet, filled with pink, romantic vibes.
As she watched, Chen Yushu’s brows gradually furrowed, and she slowly began to sense something was off. When the first female lead confessed to the second, her eyes widened in shock. She turned her head and looked at Lu Wei in disbelief, as if asking, What is this?
Stay calm! Absolutely stay calm! Lu Wei feigned a faint look of surprise. “What’s wrong? It’s pretty sweet, don’t you think?”
“It’s alright.” Chen Yushu gave Lu Wei a strange glance before lowering her head to continue watching, now filled with confusion.
Just then, the background music in the headphones suddenly shifted, taking on a more intimate and ambiguous tone. Immediately after, the atmosphere on screen began to heat up, gradually blurring. Light and shadow intertwined, flowers bloomed, and the sound of dripping water mixed with soft, audible panting.
Though the visuals were abstract, anyone with common sense could tell what was happening.
The atmosphere around them instantly turned awkward. Both of their bodies stiffened, and they averted their eyes simultaneously. Yet, the seductive panting in the headphones grew louder, as if whispered directly into their ears.
Heat rushed to Lu Wei’s face, her cheeks burning and her ears turning red. She didn’t dare look at Chen Yushu, inwardly lamenting, You call this a sweet campus youth drama?
The suggestive sounds continued, making Lu Wei fidget uncomfortably, as if sitting on pins and needles. Her composure began to crumble. Is this ever going to end? How did this even pass the censors?
Finally, the music tapered off and came to a stop.
Lu Wei hurriedly took back her phone, returned to the home screen, and thoroughly cleared the app from the background. For a moment, she busied herself frantically, her head nearly buried in her lap.
How was she supposed to face Chen Yushu after this?
“Headphones.”
Hearing the voice, Lu Wei lifted her eyelids and quickly glanced at Chen Yushu. Her gaze fell on the headphones resting in Chen Yushu’s palm. She hummed a soft acknowledgment, carefully pinched the earpieces, and shakily placed them back into the charging case.
A sudden silence fell, and the atmosphere veered into another strange direction.
Lu Wei’s mind raced as she tried to think of a way to ease the tension. Just then, Chen Yushu asked, “You watch this kind of stuff?”
“Not at all!” Lu Wei hastily refuted. When she looked up and saw the subtle expression on Chen Yushu’s face, she grew even more flustered. “I didn’t know it had so much I’ve never watched it before, I really didn’t know. I just clicked on it randomly.”
She had only wanted to use this to deepen her connection with Chen Yushu a little not jump straight to. This was way too fast! Forget Chen Yushu, even she was horrified!
Damn it! Would Chen Yushu think she was some kind of pervert now?
Feeling utterly defeated, Lu Wei slumped onto the sofa, her heart sinking into despair.
“What I meant was,” Chen Yushu paused for a second, biting her back teeth, “you watch this kind of drama with two female leads?”
Huh? Lu Wei raised her eyebrows in surprise, then let out an awkward laugh, forcing herself to appear composed. “Yeah, I think it’s pretty sweet. It’s nice to watch other people fall in love.”
Hearing this, Chen Yushu gave her a puzzled look, unable to fully grasp the meaning behind Lu Wei’s words. Watching two girls fall in love? Is that something straight girls do?
