How I Accidentally Bent My Best Friend - Chapter 35.2
Chen Yushu quickly pulled her forward. “Let’s go, or we’ll be late. It won’t be cold once we’re on the train.”
“Oh, alright.”
Another mad dash, and they finally boarded the high-speed train at the last moment.
Two hours later, they arrived at their destination.
As soon as they stepped off the train, a cold gust of wind hit them the temperature was even lower. Chen Yushu sneezed immediately, and at the same time, a padded coat was draped over her shoulders.
“This temperature brr, ” Lu Wei shuddered, her teeth beginning to chatter. “What will winter be like?”
“Don’t be stubborn now.” Chen Yushu glanced at her, took off the coat, and shoved it into her hands. She headed toward the exit while hailing a ride.
Lu Wei had no choice but to quicken her pace and follow. “I’m just worried about you! You came all this way with me, what if you catch a cold?”
“Just put it on and shut up.”
Lu Wei caught up and suddenly wrapped an arm around her. “Good thing this coat is big enough no, I should say our little Yushu is slim enough.”
The padded coat enveloped most of Chen Yushu’s body, blocking some of the cold wind. The body pressed against hers was soft and warm. Lu Wei wore only a thin layer underneath, and due to their position, Chen Yushu’s arm unavoidably brushed against Lu Wei’s chest. She could distinctly feel that Lu Wei wasn’t wearing a bra, a habit of hers in winter.
Instantly, Chen Yushu’s mind exploded with a buzz. Heat rushed from her neck to her cheeks, and she couldn’t help but shrink her shoulders, trying to avoid any contact.
Yet, in the next second, Lu Wei pulled her even closer. “Why are you running?”
“You loosen up a bit,” Chen Yushu whispered, her voice trembling slightly. “I can’t breathe.”
“If I loosen up, the wind will rush in.” Lu Wei patted her head. “We’ll be out soon. Just bear with it a little longer.”
Chen Yushu felt utterly helpless, her guilt skyrocketing. She tried to distract herself by silently reciting vocabulary from her little notebook.
After leaving the high-speed rail station, getting into the car, and arriving at the hotel, Chen Yushu finally broke free from Lu Wei’s embrace, only to realize she was drenched in sweat.
“So tired, we’re finally here!” As soon as she entered the room, Lu Wei collapsed onto the bed.
Chen Yushu followed behind, turned on the air conditioner, and glanced around the room. When she noticed there was only one bed, she couldn’t help but frown and ask, “Why didn’t you book a twin room?”
“Why would I book a twin room?” Lu Wei sat up, took in her expression, and suddenly reached out, pulling her down onto the bed. She then knelt astride her waist. “We sleep in the same bed at home. Why would we sleep separately when we’re out? See, I knew it’s been too long since we last slept together, and now you’re acting distant.”
Chen Yushu sank into the soft bedding, unable to find any leverage. She could only futilely grab Lu Wei’s hands, trying to push her off. “What are you babbling about? Get off me!”
“No! Chen Yushu, be honest do you dislike me?” Lu Wei seized her hands, leaned in, and pinned them to the bed.
The sudden closeness made Chen Yushu’s breath catch, her mind going blank. Instinctively, she turned her head away, furrowing her brows and lowering her gaze to hide her emotions. “Are you insane? What are you doing?”
“You won’t even look at me feeling guilty, huh?” Lu Wei pressed further.
“Lu Wei! Are you out of your mind?” Chen Yushu, flustered and angry, widened her eyes and glared fiercely. “Let go!”
“Hmph.” Lu Wei pouted resentfully and climbed off her, muttering under her breath, “Fine, if you dislike me, then so be it. Once we move in together, I’ll put only one bed in the master bedroom. Then you’ll have no choice but to share it with me. Hmph!”
Chen Yushu’s temper flared. She grabbed a pillow and threw it at her. “You lunatic!”
“You! You… I won’t stoop to your level.” Lu Wei stood up and headed toward the bathroom. “I’m going to take a shower first. If you can’t wait, I suppose I could reluctantly let you join me.”
Chen Yushu shot her a sharp glare, her silence speaking volumes.
After Lu Wei entered the bathroom, Chen Yushu’s anger lingered. The vocabulary from her little notebook swirled in her mind Lu Wei, that wretched creature!
Soon, the sound of running water filled the room, and Chen Yushu’s heart gradually calmed. Weariness washed over her, and as she leaned against the bed, drowsiness began to set in.
When Lu Wei emerged from the bathroom, she found Chen Yushu lying on her side, eyes closed, breathing softly.
She instinctively softened her footsteps, approached the bed, and knelt beside it, studying Chen Yushu’s face intently. With her slightly elongated eyes closed, some of her usual sharpness faded. Under the warm, dim light, her features appeared gentle and serene.
As she gazed, Lu Wei suddenly felt the person before her seemed somewhat unfamiliar. As if bewitched, she reached out and touched her eyelashes, the tip of her nose, and then moved downward. Just as her fingertip was about to land on her lips, she paused abruptly, a sudden image flashing through her mind.
Instantly frightened, she stood up immediately. Drops of water from her hair fell into Chen Yushu’s eye sockets, but Lu Wei seemed unaware, absentmindedly touching her own lips.
Chen Yushu felt a cool sensation on her eyelids and slowly opened her eyes, only to see Lu Wei standing by the bed with a strange expression. “What are you doing?”
Lu Wei jumped in fright again and quickly clasped her hands together. “I didn’t do anything!”
“If you didn’t do anything, why do you look so guilty?” Chen Yushu wiped the water from her eyelids, her gaze falling on Lu Wei’s still-dripping hair. She then sat up and asked, “Are you done washing?”
“Mm.”
Chen Yushu: “Then I’ll go wash up. Hurry and dry your hair I’ll need the hairdryer soon.”
“Okay.”
Chen Yushu gave her a puzzled look but didn’t think too much of it and headed straight to the bathroom.
As soon as the other person left, Lu Wei plopped down on the bed, pressing her hands tightly against her chest, feeling its rapid beating. What the hell! It was just an accidental kiss, why such a big reaction?
Lu Wei slowly furrowed her brows, feeling very confused. She speculated: Could it be because I’ve never been in a relationship? And strictly speaking, this was my first time kissing someone on the lips, so it left a deeper impression?
She smacked her lips, feeling a bit unsettled, and tried her best to ignore the sensation. She got up, found the hairdryer, and started drying her hair.
Just as her hair dried, Chen Yushu happened to come out of the bathroom. Lu Wei, with the hairdryer still on, waved her over. “Come here, I’ll dry your hair for you.”
Chen Yushu yawned, her body still somewhat tired. After a moment’s thought, she didn’t refuse.
Lu Wei had been kneeling on the bed, but as she continued drying, her legs grew numb. She stretched them out, encircling Chen Yushu’s waist, and leaned her body forward slightly.
With the buzzing noise of the hairdryer in her ears, Chen Yushu’s mind grew hazy, drowsy and nodding off.
Meanwhile, Lu Wei behind her began to feel uneasy. Strands of black hair were blown about, and as she combed through them, her fingertips accidentally brushed against the side of Chen Yushu’s neck, sending a sensation of smooth, delicate skin.
Her nostrils filled with the scent of hair and body fragrance. She took a breath, unable to resist leaning closer for a gentle sniff.
Finally, when the hair was dry, Lu Wei slid four fingers through Chen Yushu’s hair, letting the strands slip through the gaps between her fingers, a ticklish feeling.
She set down the hairdryer and said softly, “All done.”
The person in front of her didn’t respond.
Lu Wei gathered Chen Yushu’s hair and moved it to one side, resting her chin on Chen Yushu’s shoulder to look at her. In a breathy voice, she asked, “So sleepy, huh?”
She carefully retracted her legs, supporting Chen Yushu’s waist as she let her lean into her embrace. Originally intending to turn her around and lay her down, her peripheral vision suddenly caught sight of Chen Yushu’s neck pale and slender. Instantly, her eyes fixated, unable to look away. She couldn’t resist pressing closer, rubbing her chin against it.
Yet, this still felt somewhat unsatisfying. After staring for a moment, she suddenly felt her mouth go dry and unconsciously licked her teeth.
I want to bite it.
As soon as the thought surfaced in her mind, Lu Wei shuddered, hurriedly averted her eyes, and cursed herself inwardly.
Could it be that some virus has invaded my body? She couldn’t help but think with a headache.
Just then, Chen Yushu suddenly collapsed onto her. She quickly caught her, then slowly laid her down on the bed, covered her with the blanket, and lay down beside her.
Turning off the light, the sound of long, shallow breaths drifted through the room. Lu Wei’s consciousness gradually blurred, and she forgot about the matter.
The next day, the alarm clock rang on time.
Chen Yushu woke up, stretched lazily with a yawn, and nudged the person beside her. “Hurry up, time to get up.”
“Mmm…” Lu Wei, still buried under the covers, stretched out her arms, wrapped them around Chen Yushu, and nuzzled against her chest before settling back to sleep contentedly.
Chen Yushu simply peeled her off, threw back the covers, and got up to head to the bathroom.
Feeling the emptiness in her arms, Lu Wei let out a disgruntled groan, struggled to open her eyes, and sat up with a scowl. “Chen Yushu, where did you go? Why didn’t you wake me up?”
Chen Yushu finished washing up and came out, picking up the clothes from the floor and tossing them to her. “What’s with all the wailing so early in the morning?”
“You’re so annoying,” Lu Wei pouted, grumbling under her breath. “You’ve had your fill of sleep, but you don’t care if I live or die.”
“By the way, how did I fall asleep last night? I don’t remember.”
At this, Lu Wei’s expression stiffened. The memories of the previous night instantly flooded back. She quickly glanced at Chen Yushu’s neck, nothing out of the ordinary there and replied, “While I was drying your hair.”
After that, she lazily put on her clothes and got out of bed to freshen up.
The venue for the art exhibition was a gallery, just a five-minute walk from the hotel.
By the time the two entered the gallery, there were already quite a few people inside, but it wasn’t particularly noisy.
Most of the paintings on display were abstract works. Chen Yushu, an amateur in the art world, walked alongside Lu Wei. Apart from sensing a certain intriguing beauty at first glance, she couldn’t grasp much more.
Lu Wei spent most of her time silently appreciating the art, occasionally stopping to take photos.
When they reached one particular painting, Lu Wei stood quietly for half a minute before raising her camera and taking numerous shots from various angles.
“I was just looking at this painting too. Whether it’s the composition of the entire piece or the use of color, it’s absolutely brilliant. Truly a masterpiece by a great artist.”
A familiar voice came from behind them, and both turned around at the same time.
