- Chapter 37.1 - Lou Qingshuang Becomes Liu Yu's Partner
The two were eating when Liu Yu suddenly said, “There’s a banquet in three days. Will you accompany me?” Liu Yu took out a familiar invitation that Lou Qingshuang had seen before, though several months had passed since then.
Lou Qingshuang held the invitation and looked up at Liu Yu. “Still no partner yet?”
“Hmm, no partner yet. Will you stay by my side? I think you are the most suitable person to go; it can dispel many rumors,” Liu Yu responded while eating her steak.
Lou Qingshuang held Madam Elisa’s invitation, thought for a moment, and agreed. “Alright, this time it will be legitimate.”
“My initial invitation was too reckless. I apologize,” Liu Yu said, looking at Lou Qingshuang.
Lou Qingshuang lowered her eyelids. “Back then, if I had accepted that invitation, I would have immediately become the target of public criticism.”
“I apologize for not considering that,” Liu Yu said, very sincere this time.
“Were you hoping that things would be unclear back then?” Lou Qingshuang asked softly, wondering if there was any calculation on Liu Yu’s part.
“Apologies.” Liu Yu indeed had those intentions back then—to let Lou Qingshuang witness the prosperity and resources available, thereby moving her with self-interest.
“Heh.” Lou Qingshuang chuckled lightly, and there was a hint of coldness in her lowered eyes.
Under the warm yellow light, the two finished their meal slowly.
Soon, the meal was over. “Would you like to go inside and rest for a while?” Liu Yu put down the towel she used to wipe her hands and invited Lou Qingshuang to watch a movie.
Lou Qingshuang thought about it and agreed; she needed to adapt to Liu Yu as quickly as possible.
“Do you want to change into different clothes?” Liu Yu looked at Lou Qingshuang, seeing that she wasn’t quite suited to curling up in a sofa chair as she was.
Lou Qingshuang looked down at her clothes. “I can.”
Liu Yu brought out a long, pale pink bathrobe and pajamas, her voice low. “They’re new.”
Lou Qingshuang looked at Liu Yu with a complicated expression. “When did you prepare these?”
“When you came over before.” Liu Yu rubbed her nose, feeling a bit guilty.
“I couldn’t tell, you’re quite the ‘closet romantic’ (mensch), but there’s no need to change.” Lou Qingshuang refused; she had intended to change, but these pajamas wouldn’t do.
Liu Yu nodded with regret. “Then wait for me to change my clothes, and we’ll watch a movie.”
“Alright.” Lou Qingshuang stood at the door waiting for her.
Liu Yu went to her room and changed into a comfortable black silk bathrobe. It was the same style as Lou Qingshuang’s—form-fitting, comfortable, and perfectly tracing her curves.
She tied her belt as she walked, her long, fair fingers pulling a butterfly knot at her waist.
“Let’s go, let’s watch a movie.” Liu Yu led Lou Qingshuang to the movie room. She had set up an audiovisual room where the two could lie on a sofa bed to watch films.
“Your renovations are very complete.” Upon entering, Lou Qingshuang immediately saw the comfortable, large beanbag-style sofa where two people could lean together on the sofa bed.
“I occasionally like to relax by watching movies, so I prepared a room for it. There’s also a room for drinking tea,” Liu Yu said while picking out a movie.
“This place doesn’t feel much like a home; it’s more like a hotel. It has everything, but the atmosphere of a home is too sparse. Liu Yu, are you very lonely?” Lou Qingshuang picked up a disc of a classic romance movie and handed it to Liu Yu, taking the opportunity to understand her better.
“I’ve gotten used to it. I wouldn’t call it lonely.” Liu Yu’s life was monotonous; she had always known that.
Liu Yu looked into Lou Qingshuang’s eyes as she started the film. She reached out and pulled Lou Qingshuang to sit on the sofa together, looking at the title appearing on the screen: Learning to Love.
“Why did you choose this version of the film?” Liu Yu pretended not to understand.
“What do you think?” Lou Qingshuang looked at her with a beaming smile.
“It’s just that I’ve never been in a relationship, but I have seen the love stories of others,” Liu Yu explained with rare constraint.
“Whose? Assistant Zhu’s?” Lou Qingshuang asked curiously.
“Not exactly. Many people around me have relationships that come and go,” Liu Yu said, leaning her head on Lou Qingshuang’s shoulder.
“Then you should learn from the one in the movie; at least she knows how to love someone.” Lou Qingshuang sat on the sofa and watched the movie with Liu Yu.
Liu Yu looked at her perfect profile before slowly shifting her gaze back to the movie.
Liu Yu tried to steady her mindset, treating Lou Qingshuang like an ordinary Omega and sweeping away those ill intentions.
She wanted Lou Qingshuang to let go of her rejection as soon as possible, as her words back then had indeed been very hurtful.
This was the Liu Yu that Lou Qingshuang was most familiar with—fond of using tactics and emphasizing efficiency.
Liu Yu suppressed the desire rising in her eyes and said softly, “There will definitely be many people at the banquet in three days. Don’t be afraid, I will be by your side.”
“Alright,” Lou Qingshuang turned her head and responded with a smile.
In the movie, the female lead touched the girl she loved most for the first time. That girl was shy and beautiful.
The older Alpha led the girl through the world of fame and fortune, working hard.
Eventually, however, the girl began to let go of the older one’s hand. She had seen a wider world and fallen in love with someone else.
The older Alpha could only watch her back as she walked further away, unable to stop her from pursuing a better future.
It turns out love can also make one feel this miserable.
The older one loved the girl clumsily; she had learned how to love, but the girl flew away like a butterfly, leaving her alone where she stood.
Those days and nights spent embracing each other only left behind the Alpha who had learned to love, tasting that learned love in the dark of night.
At the end of the movie, the Alpha who learned to love met someone who was enough to accompany her for a lifetime.
The two sat in the audiovisual room watching the movie until the end. Liu Yu felt a numbness in her heart watching the conclusion; falling in love is truly this painful.
When they finished the movie and walked out, the living room had already been restored to its original state. “Is this the charm of the wealthy?” Lou Qingshuang said, holding a water glass.
“Indeed. Using money to buy convenience and comfort, and then creating more value,” Liu Yu said.
“Someone will come to pick you up in three days to do your styling. It might make you wait for a while; do you have the time?” Liu Yu inquired.
“I will set aside enough time. There won’t be people taking photos at this banquet, right?” Lou Qingshuang asked, thinking of the storm that had just died down.
“It’s a completely private banquet. We’ll just discuss cooperation and talk about jewelry and such. Moreover, with me there, no one without eyes would dare,” Liu Yu said, displaying her strength in a single sentence.
“Then I’ll be waiting the day after tomorrow to go and see the ‘market of fame’ in high society.” Lou Qingshuang looked at Liu Yu with a shallow smile, just like the girl in the movie.
Liu Yu’s eyelashes trembled. Even though she hadn’t fallen in love with Lou Qingshuang, she felt a heartache similar to the abandoned Alpha in the movie.
Lou Qingshuang saw the look in her eyes and felt satisfied. She deliberately suppressed her heart, stepped forward, and kissed the corner of Liu Yu’s mouth. She wanted to judge whether she could accept physical contact with Liu Yu. Fortunately, she didn’t feel very uncomfortable; instead, her pheromones became excited and leaked out from the suppression patch, trying to touch Liu Yu.
Lou Qingshuang’s eyelashes fluttered; genetics are the hardest thing to control. Just as Liu Yu wanted to continue, she took a step back, gracefully retreating and waving to Liu Yu. “That’s all for today.”
Lou Qingshuang smiled like a flower as she looked back at Liu Yu. This smile made Liu Yu’s heart itch, though there wasn’t much genuine mirth in her eyes. Liu Yu sighed in her heart.
She watched Lou Qingshuang’s retreating figure and raised her hand to touch the corner of her mouth. This was a good start.
Lou Qingshuang stood at her own door and waved to Liu Yu, mouthing the words, “Get some rest, busy person.”
Liu Yu smiled and nodded. She watched Lou Qingshuang slowly close her door before she closed her own.
The next morning, Liu Yu and Lou Qingshuang left their homes at the same time, both nodding to each other.
They closed their doors simultaneously and walked into the hallway. Lou Qingshuang proactively slipped her hand into Liu Yu’s palm; it was warm and hot.
Liu Yu looked at Lou Qingshuang with some surprise. “Let’s try to have some contact, otherwise I won’t be able to handle sudden intimacy.” This was the best method Lou Qingshuang could think of.
“Alright, everything will go according to how you feel. We can move forward one step at a time.” Liu Yu closed her palm.
“Okay.”
Today was also filled with a lingering drizzle. Their cars exited the garage separately and left.
This situation would have to be maintained for at least a week.
Three days later, Liu Yu had already finished her styling and changed her clothes, preparing to pick up her partner.
Today, she wore a black suit and a top-tier Patek Philippe watch on her wrist. The white gold and rose gold combination shimmered, and with a slight movement, one could see the handcrafted Clous de Paris pattern on the side and dial of the watch.
Liu Yu wore rimless glasses, her hair was tied up, and she wore sharp suit trousers. She looked tall and powerful.
As she walked down, her aura was very strong.
Several people stepped back a bit. “Sister Liu, Sister Lou’s styling is finished, she can head out now.” Lou Qingshuang’s stylist approached weakly, not daring to get too close.
“Why are you still so socially anxious?” Liu Yu sighed, looking at the younger sister of her good friend.
“I’m not really…” The other person’s eyes darted up, down, left, and right—anywhere but at Liu Yu.
“Then thank you, Shang Yun. We’ll be leaving now; don’t be late,” Liu Yu urged, walking toward the elevator to pick up Lou Qingshuang.
Shang Yun watched her back, her face flushing red, her eyes full of infatuation.
Sister Liu is getting more and more beautiful. Unfortunately, she doesn’t like ‘children.’
Shang Yun’s eyes dimmed; she was more than ten years younger than Liu Yu.
