- Chapter 3 - Handing Over the Room Card Once More
By the time Liu Yu arrived at the venue, Lou Qingshuang was still in the meeting room. Bai Wan had also rushed over. “Wanshuang, they didn’t bully you, did they?”
Bai Wan started labeling others and muddying the waters the moment she stepped inside.
“Group Leader Zhao, I need to consult with my colleague. Please give us a few minutes,” Lou Qingshuang stood up and walked over to Zhao Shuoshuo, the person in charge of their specific area.
“Fine, but make it quick.” Zhao Shuoshuo suppressed her sour expression. She knew full well that they had stumbled into a bout of corporate warfare.
She just hadn’t expected the other party to intentionally release the information half an hour before the results were announced, leaving the organizers in a very passive position.
Zhao Shuoshuo looked at the documents in her hand, waiting for word from the higher-ups on whether to disqualify both parties or just one of them.
Before Lou Qingshuang and her team could finish their discussion, Zhao Shuoshuo received a phone call. No one was to be disqualified; the organizers wanted to let the public outcry and the hype ferment.
Zhao Shuoshuo indicated she understood. She waited for Lou Qingshuang and Bai Wan to finish their discussion, while inconspicuously glancing at the people from Lan Dai Company.
The people from Lan Dai Company wore expressions of blank indifference, as if they were furious about the plagiarism incident.
But in matters like this, who could truly say for sure?
Zhao Shuoshuo turned a deaf ear to the outside noise and focused solely on her work.
When Lou Qingshuang and Bai Wan returned, Zhao Shuoshuo picked up her documents and announced directly, “The results will be announced shortly. Both of you please return to see your scores.” Having said that, she left.
Zhao Shuoshuo’s words were addressed to both Lou Qingshuang and the representative of Lan Dai Company.
Representatives from both companies stood up. The person from Lan Dai Company still wanted to ask: Won’t the plagiarizer have their results and eligibility revoked?
Zhao Shuoshuo, acting as if she were hard of hearing, had already slipped away like grease on the soles of her feet. She had no intention of getting involved in this mess.
Lou Qingshuang and Bai Wan exchanged a glance, feeling immense pressure, but for now, they could only return and wait for the results.
“The insults online are very nasty; don’t go on the internet for the next few days. We’ll go back, check the surveillance, and find the mole. We’ll take them to court—especially since we still have the original data and the experimental videos,” Bai Wan said. The pressure was heavy, but she remained confident.
“It’s alright,” Lou Qingshuang shook her head. Her blood had just rushed to her head too quickly from the sudden turn of events, making her feel a bit dizzy.
Liu Yu sat in her lounge sipping tea. “Go and invite Ms. Lou to have a cup of tea,” she instructed her assistant.
Liu Yu was still dressed in a black, form-fitting suit. Her trousers were sharp, and her hair was pinned up, giving her an aura of immense power—even a hint of “abstinent” style. Her expression was as calm as ever, yet she was exceptionally beautiful.
Her beauty possessed a strong, domineering quality, carrying a breathtaking arrogance. Her eyes were narrow and sharp, filled with authority.
When Lou Qingshuang was invited away, Bai Wan’s eyes were full of worry. Although she greatly admired Chairperson Liu, Chairperson Liu’s ruthlessness was also terrifying.
As for “unspoken rules” or casting couch scenarios, Bai Wan hadn’t even considered it. In Chairperson Liu’s eyes, anyone was merely a stumbling block to her work.
She looked down equally on anyone who indulged in romance. This fact was already well-known throughout Luzhou City. If a subordinate tried to climb into her bed, she would directly assign them ten times the workload to force them to be productive.
Her famous quote was: The ability to climb into a bed proves that your workload is not yet saturated. She had essentially forced those who wanted to take shortcuts to become managers of subsidiary companies.
“If Chairperson Liu asks you anything, just speak honestly,” Bai Wan squeezed Lou Qingshuang’s palm. Lou Qingshuang nodded and followed the secretary.
The assistant’s secretary led Lou Qingshuang to a very secluded lounge. “Please,” the secretary made a gesture of invitation, but did not enter herself.
Lou Qingshuang gave her a specific look. “Aren’t you coming in?”
The secretary smiled. “The Chairperson wants to discuss the situation with you. Don’t worry, it’s fine.”
Lou Qingshuang clenched her fingers again and nodded politely. She didn’t dare refuse Liu Yu’s invitation.
Lou Qingshuang stepped into the lounge. The temperature and humidity inside were perfectly balanced.
Liu Yu was sitting on the sofa, her sharp gaze turning to look at her.
This was the first time Lou Qingshuang had directly faced someone with such a powerful aura. She instinctively wanted to retreat but forced herself to stop.
“Come over and sit.” Liu Yu’s voice was lowered, devoid of condescending arrogance. She simply smiled faintly and elegantly invited her to sit.
Lou Qingshuang walked over slowly and sat on an adjacent sofa, wearing a polite and natural smile. “Does Chairperson Liu wish to understand something specific about the situation?”
In front of Lou Qingshuang, Liu Yu poured a cup of tea and unhurriedly placed it before her.
“The room card I gave you—did you throw it away?” Liu Yu’s directness startled Lou Qingshuang. She immediately stood up, her voice containing a mix of panic and anger. “I don’t know what Chairperson Liu is talking about.”
Liu Yu also stood up. She was more than a head taller than Lou Qingshuang. She slowly walked toward her.
Lou Qingshuang instinctively backed away. As one advanced and the other retreated, Liu Yu said word for word, “I asked, did you throw away my hotel room card?”
Lou Qingshuang looked at the person approaching and tried to maintain her composure while retreating. “I don’t understand what you are saying, Chairperson Liu. I already have a fiancée, and I am getting married soon.”
“Heh.” Liu Yu laughed. She continued forward until Lou Qingshuang had nowhere left to retreat. Just as Lou Qingshuang was about to look for something to defend herself with, Liu Yu grabbed her wrist, lifted her hand, and pulled her into her embrace. Their bodies collided.
Liu Yu lowered her head and once again sniffed near her ear. “The scent of roses is truly lovely.”
This time, Lou Qingshuang felt true terror. She had just received a blocker injection; it was impossible for her pheromones to leak. How could she smell them?
Liu Yu’s nose pressed forward quite intrusively. She truly loved this scent. Her hot breath brushed against Lou Qingshuang’s neck. Lou Qingshuang began to struggle violently. “Let go of me! You are being too insulting!”
Lou Qingshuang’s beautiful eyes were filled with rage. She used her other hand to push hard against Liu Yu’s chest, trying to shove her away.
Liu Yu looked down at her hand and said with a half-smile, “It seems you are the one being rather forward.”
Lou Qingshuang took a deep breath, inhaling the aura that Liu Yu had enveloped her in. It was a faint scent of frozen roses—similar to her own, yet entirely different.
“Does it smell good?” Liu Yu leaned down, leaving only a few centimeters between them. They could each smell the other’s breath.
“Chairperson Liu, what exactly do you want?” Lou Qingshuang looked at her with a cold face, even pinning the blame for the plagiarism scandal that had just broken out onto Liu Yu.
“Nothing in particular. I am simply very interested in you.” Liu Yu released Lou Qingshuang’s hand, a gentle yet oppressive smile on her face.
“Was what happened today also you’re doing?” Lou Qingshuang rubbed her wrist, her gaze deep and questioning.
Liu Yu kept the smile on her face, neither confirming nor denying. She placed a card into Lou Qingshuang’s hand. “Don’t throw it away again. You will have a use for it.”
In that instant, the color drained from Lou Qingshuang’s face, and her body went cold. Liu Yu’s gesture was equivalent to admitting that she was indeed the one behind it.
