Honey, Open The Door. I Want To Give You The Room Key - Chapter 14
Lou Qingshuang spread her arms with a smile on her face—a smile that was both mature and profound. She was giving herself and Shen Yue an opportunity. An opportunity to see the truth of their relationship clearly. The moment Shen Yue reached out to embrace her, Lou Qingshuang said in her heart: Shen Yue, do not betray me.
The two returned home hand-in-hand. When Shen Qiao and Aunt Wu returned, they saw Shen Yue there.
“Yueyue is here,” Shen Qiao greeted her as usual.
“Have you eaten? The lady who cooks will be here in a moment,” Shen Qiao invited.
Shen Yue hurriedly greeted her with a sweet smile. “Auntie, I’ve already eaten. Thank you for your concern.” For some reason, Shen Yue felt a sense of trepidation in her heart this time. Shen Qiao pulled Shen Yue down to sit, eat fruit, and watch TV, effectively rescuing her daughter Shuangshuang from Shen Yue’s grasp.
Shen Yue wailed inwardly. Everything about Auntie Shen was great, except she was far too enthusiastic; she always prevented her and Shuangshuang from having any time alone. Thinking about it made her feel a bit helpless and irritable.
Lou Qingshuang went to her room, took off her coat, and pulled Shen Yue’s suitcase into her own room as well. Lou Qingshuang sat in a chair, quietly watching the suitcase. Shen Yue should be back by now, right? Liu Yu’s words echoed endlessly in her ears. Lou Qingshuang’s heart was drumming—thump, thump, thump—and she was so nervous that her fingertips felt uncontrollably numb.
She hoped it wouldn’t be Shen Yue.
Lou Qingshuang had already asked Bai Wan to privately investigate the chairman of Lan Dai Group’s personal affairs. There should be news within the next two days. Wearing a white qipao, she sat elegantly in the chair, quietly waiting for Shen Yue to come in.
After chatting with Shen Qiao for a few minutes, Shen Yue used the excuse of changing clothes to go to Lou Qingshuang’s room. She looked at the elegant Lou Qingshuang, who sat with her legs crossed. A delicate, classic hairpin held her hair up. Under the light, Lou Qingshuang looked noble and graceful, her eyes shimmering with a smile. Shen Yue slowed her pace as she walked toward her.
“Shuangshuang.” She crouched before Lou Qingshuang, took her hand, and pressed it against her own cheek. “I missed you so much. You look so beautiful today.” Shen Yue lifted Lou Qingshuang’s hand and kissed it.
Lou Qingshuang reached out to touch Shen Yue’s face, suppressing her inner anxiety and tension. She spoke somewhat stiffly, “As long as nothing is happening at the company, I’ll stay home and keep you company for the next few days.”
“Good.” Shen Yue closed her eyes, leaning contentedly against Lou Qingshuang’s knee.
Shen Yue suppressed the guilt in the depths of her eyes. Besides accompanying Lou Qingshuang, her reason for returning this time was to see the formula for the newly developed product. She was using Lou Qingshuang’s formulas to get into Zhu Rui’s good graces.
Zhu Rui had many illegitimate daughters, but only two were truly talented, and Shen Yue was one of them. To enter Zhu Rui’s company and grasp power, she had to sacrifice Shuangshuang’s achievements. Once she established a firm foothold at Lan Dai, Shuangshuang could join her and enjoy endless wealth and glory.
A message from Bai Wan arrived. Lou Qingshuang clicked on it and saw the name—Shen Yue. No, she should be called Zhu Yue. Before the age of ten, she was called Zhu Yue. After ten, she took her mother’s surname and became Shen Yue because Zhu Rui no longer wanted her mother.
Lou Qingshuang closed her eyes gently and took a deep breath. Sensing her movement, Shen Yue opened her eyes and asked considerately, “Are you tired, Shuangshuang?”
“No, the light is just a bit glaring.” Lou Qingshuang suppressed her voice, trying to speak calmly. Her heart was split in two; she wanted to ask regardless of the consequences, but there wasn’t enough evidence yet. She wanted to see if Shen Yue really cared so little for her as her fiancée!
Shen Yue stood up to block the light for her. One standing and one sitting, they looked so well-matched. She leaned down, wanting to kiss Lou Qingshuang, but Lou Qingshuang turned her head away. “Go change your clothes first.” Lou Qingshuang subconsciously turned and stood up; she was resisting Shen Yue’s kiss.
She was already trying very hard to suppress her anger, but she still wanted to know: Would Shen Yue really betray her for this? She wanted to know for certain if Shen Yue would truly betray her. Betray their relationship!
Shen Yue watched as Lou Qingshuang walked out of the room like a fluttering butterfly. She maintained a smile full of love until Lou Qingshuang gently closed the door. Only then did her smile fade, becoming deep and obscure.
Shen Yue sat in the chair Lou Qingshuang had just occupied and sighed heavily, her expression turning sour and her brow furrowing. The Wanshuang company could not be allowed to rise. Once it did, the market value of Lan Dai would plummet.
Standing on the balcony, Lou Qingshuang looked at the text from Liu Yu: Add my Feixin (WeChat-style app) ID.
Lou Qingshuang was almost amused by the message. Did she think she was some kind of overbearing CEO? No! Lou Qingshuang sent back an annoyed text. What did Liu Yu take her for? Her mood had been completely ruined by her!
The phone buzzed. Liu Yu called her directly. Lou Qingshuang looked at the phone, glanced back at the living room, and hung up.
I’ll add you. The pain in Lou Qingshuang’s heart vanished, replaced by helplessness. What kind of person was this? Her presence was so strong; she was everywhere. After Lou Qingshuang added Liu Yu’s private account, Liu Yu finally stopped. Lou Qingshuang looked at Liu Yu’s blank profile picture, gave a cold snort, and put her phone away to keep it out of mind.
Liu Yu looked at the notification that they were now friends. She raised an eyebrow, very satisfied, and put her phone down to read. Since Shen Yue was back tonight, Liu Yu felt very uncomfortable. She really wanted to just snatch Lou Qingshuang away and mark her fiercely. So, she intentionally sent a message to annoy Lou Qingshuang: Have you verified Shen Yue’s identity yet?
Lou Qingshuang saw it but didn’t want to reply, exiting the app immediately.
Shen Yue came out after changing. Seeing the beauty standing on the balcony, her heart stirred. She called out tenderly and affectionately, “Shuangshuang.”
Hearing her voice, Lou Qingshuang’s expression turned cold, but she quickly masked it with a shallow smile and turned around. “You’re changed.”
Shen Yue nodded and walked over to take her hand. “It’s cold outside. Look, your hands are freezing.” Shen Yue rambled on with concern.
Aunt Wu was massaging Shen Qiao’s acupoints; both of them heard Shen Yue’s voice. Shen Qiao’s face still carried a look of worry. She wanted to talk to Shen Yue—if the two families still wouldn’t meet, this engagement should just be called off. But Shuangshuang said she would talk to Shen Yue herself.
“Yueyue, when can I finally meet your elders?” Lou Qingshuang asked softly, putting down her fruit fork.
Shen Yue’s heart tightened, her gaze becoming unnatural. “My mother is abroad, you know that. Maybe she can come back for the New Year this year.”
“Maybe?” Lou Qingshuang’s voice was melodious but filled with doubt.
“If I don’t meet your elders by next month, let’s just call off the engagement.” Lou Qingshuang looked at Shen Yue with serious eyes.
Shen Yue looked back at her; she realized Lou Qingshuang was serious. “Shuangshuang, I—” Shen Yue instinctively reached out to grab her.
“I can’t keep waiting forever. Your family hasn’t shown a shred of sincerity. Shen Yue, I am not some lovestruck fool.” Lou Qingshuang looked at her with calm, rational eyes and pulled her hand back.
Seeing Lou Qingshuang’s eyes, a surge of irritation rose in Shen Yue’s heart, and her tone became equally cold. “Understood. I’ll speak to them.”
Lou Qingshuang knew Shen Yue had a strong sense of pride. She hated being contradicted or having her arrangements ignored; she had a desire for control. Normally, Lou Qingshuang would yield to her, but now she was forcing Shen Yue to make a quick decision.
True to her word, Lou Qingshuang stayed home to accompany her. The interactions between the two always took place with Shen Qiao and Aunt Wu present. It wasn’t until the third day that Lou Qingshuang went to the office and then hurried back.
Wearing an apron, Shen Yue looked at her. “What’s wrong, Shuangshuang?”
“I came back for some company documents. I brought them home to review a couple of days ago and forgot to take them back. People from the Xin Yu Group are here, and we need to discuss the details further,” Lou Qingshuang said quickly.
She had come back through the rain. She went to her room, opened the safe, and took out a document folder. Just as she was about to leave, Shen Yue appeared and grabbed her hand, her eyes full of worry.
“Shuangshuang, you’re covered in rain. Change your clothes before you go.” Shen Yue used a towel to dry her hair, her face full of heartache.
Lou Qingshuang looked at her touched and leaned into her embrace for a moment. “Yueyue.”
“Go change quickly, and touch up your makeup.” Shen Yue patted her back and smiled as she sent her to change.
Lou Qingshuang nodded and went to the walk-in closet. Her document folder happened to be left on the dressing table. Shen Yue stared at the folder. After a few seconds, she reached out and opened it. Inside was the formula sheet for the new product co-developed by Xin Yu and Wanshuang, as well as the signed contract between the two companies.
Shen Yue took out her phone and quickly photographed the formula sheet and the signed contract. One minute later, the folder was back in its original position. Everything was placed exactly as Lou Qingshuang had left it.
When Lou Qingshuang returned after changing, Shen Yue had already left the room. Lou Qingshuang looked at the folder, her heart trembling slightly. Today, she would know. She picked up the folder and walked out.
“Shuangshuang, take an umbrella with you.” Shen Yue thoughtfully handed her an umbrella.
“Okay. You’re so sweet, Yueyue.” Lou Qingshuang thanked her with her usual smile.
Once Lou Qingshuang left, Shen Yue sent the photos out and deleted them from her album. Then, with a face full of smiles, she made something delicious for Shen Qiao, and the three of them laughed and talked.
