Honey, Open The Door. I Want To Give You The Room Key - Chapter 10
Lou Qingshuang sat in the car, watching the world outside filled with countless lights. Yet, she felt the world was ice-cold, as if nowhere could allow her to lay down the exhaustion in her heart. She closed her eyes and sighed deeply within. Now, she had encountered Liu Yu once again.
The company’s issues remained unresolved, and Liu Yu had reappeared. Thinking of Liu Yu made Lou Qingshuang’s heart tremble. Liu Yu’s stern aloofness and overbearing aura were well-concealed, yet she carried an air of solitude. Liu Yu was undoubtedly beautiful, but her beauty possessed a cold hardness, a regal air of a superior ruler. However, she could also be tolerant and peaceful, possessing immense charisma. It was exactly this that confused Lou Qingshuang: what did a person like that see in her?
This hand of assistance made Lou Qingshuang afraid. Once Xinyu withdrew later on, Wanshuang would truly sink to the bottom of the valley. Currently, Wanshuang could still maintain its reputation largely because Xinyu was willing to cooperate with them during this chaotic time.
The orange-yellow light fell upon the car window. Lou Qingshuang opened her eyes to look at the hustle and bustle under the night sky. For now, she could only take things one step at a time. “Perhaps, I really should go to a Taoist temple to pray,” Lou Qingshuang lowered her eyes and whispered.
Bai Wan received a message from Lou Qingshuang: Have you found a Taoist temple that cuts off ill-fated relationships?
Bai Wan, who was currently reviewing surveillance footage, typed immediately: ???? Did you meet her again????
Mhm.
That single “mhm” conveyed the entirety of Lou Qingshuang’s weariness.
We’re going tomorrow!!! Bai Wan sent a voice message, her teeth practically clenched.
Hearing her friend’s voice, a trace of a smile appeared on Lou Qingshuang’s aloof face. Shen Yue, who was resting at Lou Qingshuang’s home, lay on Lou Qingshuang’s bed. As she swiped through her phone screen, her expression was far from pleasant.
Shen Qiao and Auntie Wu were chatting. Shen Qiao’s brow showed signs of worry as she watched television absent-mindedly. Auntie Wu glanced at her and handed a peeled pear to Shen Qiao. “Ma’am, have some fruit.”
Shen Qiao took the pear. “Thank you.”
“Ma’am, Ms. Lou will be back very soon. Don’t worry,” Auntie Wu hinted.
Shen Qiao sighed silently. She looked toward Lou Qingshuang’s bedroom, wondering what these two were thinking. They were clearly engaged, yet Shen Yue’s parents had never once contacted their side of the family.
Lou Qingshuang stood by the roadside bidding her assistant farewell. “Thank you for your hard work today.”
“It’s what I should do, President Lou. Please go back and get some rest early.” The assistant revealed a round little face; when she smiled, two small dimples appeared. “I’ll come to pick you up early tomorrow morning.” The little assistant waved at Lou Qingshuang and drove away.
Lou Qingshuang lifted her skirt and walked toward the residential complex. The sound of her high heels echoed softly. In this well-landscaped community, the need for quiet for every resident was well-guaranteed. The streetlights stretched Lou Qingshuang’s shadow long. Looking up, she saw her bedroom light was on. She stood downstairs, quietly gazing at her room.
For a moment, she didn’t want to go back. Lou Qingshuang stood downstairs for a few minutes, suppressing all the troubles in her mind before finally gathering her spirits to head up.
Shuangshuang, where are you? I miss you. A message appeared on her phone.
Lou Qingshuang turned off the screen and walked slowly toward the elevator. The “da-da” sound of her high heels was particularly hollow, creating an echo.
When Liu Yu returned home, it was as quiet as ever. Her home was for her alone; her bodyguards and life assistants lived across from her. She opened the door, entered the foyer, and set down her clothes and keys. Liu Yu sat on the sofa, looking at the day’s unprocessed items, then immediately stood up and went to the study.
When Lou Qingshuang opened the door, she happened to see Shen Yue making her mother laugh. A natural smile was on Shen Yue’s face. “Mom, Yue, I’m back.” As soon as Lou Qingshuang spoke, everyone’s eyes fell upon her—especially Shen Yue, who watched her without blinking.
“You look so beautiful today.” Shen Yue stood up and walked toward her; her gaze fixed intently on Lou Qingshuang. The pale purple chiffon dress, the coat draped over her shoulders, and the gems on her high-collar decoration that glittered under the lights—Shen Yue subconsciously swallowed. The look in her eyes seemed ready to swallow Lou Qingshuang whole as she said in a heavy tone, “You are so beautiful today.”
Lou Qingshuang smiled gracefully. “Thank you.”
Shen Yue’s gaze fell upon Lou Qingshuang’s vanished lipstick. Her gaze paused; she looked at the smiling Lou Qingshuang and then withdrew her eyes.
Shen Qiao also looked at her daughter with full admiration. “Oh my, Ms. Lou, you are so beautiful today, like a little fairy.” Auntie Wu walked up, laughing joyfully as she circled Lou Qingshuang, coincidentally nudging Shen Yue’s hand away. “You really look like a celebrity on TV, so beautiful.” Auntie Wu’s face was full of smiles, like a little sun.
Lou Qingshuang laughed along. “Auntie Wu, you’re too good at complimenting people.”
Shen Qiao also stood up. Lou Qingshuang rushed over to support her. “Mom.”
“It’s alright. Are you tired today?” Shen Qiao patted the back of Lou Qingshuang’s hand and asked gently.
“It was okay. I spoke with a business senior about Wanshuang’s future development,” Lou Qingshuang said softly.
“Has the matter with Wanshuang been resolved?” Shen Qiao looked at her daughter with concern.
“It will be resolved soon. Don’t worry, Mom.” Lou Qingshuang leaned against her mother’s shoulder, and the exhaustion in her heart finally found a place to rest.
Shen Yue stood to the side, watching Lou Qingshuang eagerly, wanting to speak with her. “Go on, Yueyue has been waiting for you all night.” Shen Qiao spoke with a smile as she patted her daughter’s hand. Her eyes flickered as she looked at the top of Lou Qingshuang’s head, suppressing her inner thoughts. Her child had enough to deal with; she shouldn’t add to her troubles.
“Wait for me in the living room for a bit,” Lou Qingshuang winked at Shen Yue. Shen Yue received the signal and nodded.
Shen Qiao looked at Shen Yue’s attractive face. Shen Yue was a very capable female Alpha; she carried a faint sense of dominance, and her eyes were filled with rationality. For some reason, Shen Qiao was always uneasy about Shen Yue being with her daughter.
Sigh.
Shen Qiao sighed deeply in her heart. She didn’t know if the future would be good or bad. Sensing Shen Qiao’s gaze, Shen Yue turned with a smile and asked softly, “Auntie, would you like some water? I’ll pour some for you.”
“No need, there’s still water in the cup.” Shen Qiao picked up her cup and declined with a smile.
In the night, Shen Yue held Lou Qingshuang and wanted to kiss her, but Lou Qingshuang refused. Lou Qingshuang leaned against her with a face full of exhaustion. “I’m very tired, let me just lean on you.”
Shen Yue held her without speaking. After a long while, the reflection in her glasses hid her gaze before she slowly said, “If it doesn’t work out, just close Wanshuang. My salary is enough to support you and Auntie.”
Lou Qingshuang straightened up and looked into the pupils behind the glasses. Shen Yue was serious; there was only rational analysis in her eyes. Lou Qingshuang’s expression turned cold. She narrowed her eyes, her long gaze giving off a powerful pressure. As the two faced each other, Shen Yue did not back down an inch.
“We will get married sooner or later,” Shen Yue said.
Lou Qingshuang raised her hand to interrupt, her voice commanding. “Shen Yue, to this day, I have never even met your parents. As for marriage—from the moment you said those words, this wedding can be postponed.” Lou Qingshuang stood up directly from her embrace and left with a cold face.
Shen Yue looked at the uncharacteristically angry Lou Qingshuang in shock. Her own face turned cold as she lowered her gaze, watching Lou Qingshuang walk away.
