- Episode 26 - The Supporting Female Character Must Strive for Strength
“Junior Sister?” Guan Fusha noticed Taohua following behind and asked in surprise, “Why have you caught up?”
“I want to go with you, Senior Sister,” Taohua pleaded, her large eyes wide with hope.
Guan Fusha was taken aback and immediately refused firmly, “No, go back and wait.”
Taohua had already anticipated her refusal and deliberately put on a pitiful, tearful expression. “Senior Sister, do you not trust me either? Do you, like Elder Qi, think I’m a spy infiltrating the sect?”
“That’s not what I meant.” Not expecting Taohua to misunderstand, Guan Fusha had no choice but to explain the risks clearly. “The eldest son of the North Kun Sect is likely skilled in martial arts. If a fight breaks out, I’m afraid he might accidentally harm bystanders. Junior Sister, it would be dangerous for you to come with me.”
Taohua shook her head, tightly gripping Guan Fusha’s arm. “I’m not afraid. Senior Sister will definitely protect me. I want to go with you.”
“This…” Guan Fusha was still thinking of a way to persuade Taohua when another guard from the Punishment Hall came running from not far away.
“Guardian!” The guard’s eyes lit up upon seeing Guan Fusha. He immediately knelt on one knee and urged, “The Hall Master says she can’t hold on for much longer. Please hurry to Duanqing Cliff.”
Guan Fusha understood the seriousness of the situation. Now was not the time to argue with Taohua.
“I understand.” Guan Fusha nodded to the guard, then turned to Taohua. “Junior Sister, if you insist on coming, you must be careful. Stay close to me at all times, understand?”
“Mm-hmm, I understand.” Taohua nodded seriously, her hands unconsciously tightening their grip on Guan Fusha’s clothes.
She had to see it for herself. Confirm whether this part of the plot had been altered by her butterfly effect.
Time was running out; they couldn’t afford to dawdle any longer.
“Junior Sister, hold on tight.” Guan Fusha wrapped an arm around Taohua’s slender waist, lifted her with a surge of energy, and leaped into the air. With a few light steps, they vanished from everyone’s sight.
Taohua: “…”
She had been so focused on worrying about the plot that she’d forgotten about the “roller coaster ride” part!
Meanwhile.
“What’s going on? Has the Guardian arrived yet?” Yan Hong asked impatiently in a low voice to the guard beside her.
Sensing Yan Hong’s foul mood, the guard replied nervously, “I-I’ve already sent someone to hurry her along.”
“Tch!” Yan Hong was equally frustrated. She had been comfortably napping in the Punishment Hall when this madman showed up out of nowhere. What terrible luck!
At the edge of Duanqing Cliff, a young man in white stood straight and tall, unafraid of the fierce winds roaring up from the abyss, which whipped his robes and tied-up long hair into a frenzy.
His gaze remained fixed on the path leading to Duanqing Cliff, waiting with desperate longing for the appearance of his beloved, eager to pour out his love, as deep as the mountains and as vast as the sea.
After waiting and waiting, the one he loved finally appeared!
“Miss Guan!”
Guan Fusha descended from the sky, the passing wind sweeping her dark hair aside, revealing her breathtakingly beautiful face. A face that could captivate any man, like a goddess descending to the mortal realm.
In stark contrast, Taohua, pale with fright, looked utterly out of place next to Guan Fusha.
“In the eyes of a lover, even a plain face becomes a beauty like Xi Shi.” As for Taohua, who couldn’t even be considered “shi,” she naturally didn’t catch the young master’s attention. His gaze had been fixed solely on Guan Fusha from start to finish.
Knowing that Taohua was somewhat afraid of heights, Guan Fusha asked with concern after they landed, “Junior Sister, are you alright?”
“Y-yes, I’m fine.” Taohua’s face was pale, her hand pressed against her chest as if her heart were about to leap out.
What a truly sour and exhilarating feeling.
Only after confirming that Taohua was unharmed did Guan Fusha shift her gaze to the young master in white. She cupped her hands and smiled, “I presume you are the eldest son of the Beikun Sect’s leader?”
“Y-yes!” How blissful it was to witness the smile of his goddess—the young master in white could barely string his words together. “I… I am Mo Tu. I came to your esteemed sect today just to see you, Miss.”
“Oh?” Guan Fusha voiced a questioning tone. “May I ask why you’ve sought me out?”
“I… I’ve come to propose to you!” Mustering all his courage, Mo Tu confessed his feelings to Guan Fusha. “Miss Guan, I’m serious. I’m not like those men who only covet your beauty—I truly love you. For you, I’m willing to do anything!”
His words plunged the entire scene into dead silence.
A young master from a righteous sect risking his life to infiltrate the demonic cult just to confess his love to their protector—truly baffling. One might wonder if this young master had been kicked in the head by a donkey as a child.
After a long silence, Guan Fusha suddenly broke into a radiant smile, yet her eyes remained chillingly cold, devoid of any emotion, as if carved from ice.
Her dazzling smile captivated Mo Tu, who couldn’t tear his eyes away, utterly mesmerized. “Well then,” she said, “since you claim you’re willing to do anything for me, would you dare to jump off this Broken Love Cliff?”
Instantly, all eyes turned to Guan Fusha. Though their expressions varied, most were utterly astonished.
“Protector!” Yan Hong frowned slightly, speaking up to remind Guan Fusha, puzzled as to why she would make such a demand of Mo Tu.
Guan Fusha paid no heed, her smile growing even sweeter as she took a step closer to Mo Tu. “What’s the matter? Didn’t you say you love me deeply? That you’d do anything for me? Why haven’t you jumped yet?”
Mo Tu swallowed hard, glancing back at the cliff behind him—dark, bottomless, with only fierce winds howling through it, emitting terrifying sounds that enveloped the entire Broken Love Cliff.
“Jump! Go on, jump!” Guan Fusha took another step toward him, her sweet smile now tinged with a frightening intensity.
Intimidated by her presence, Mo Tu unconsciously shifted his feet, sending a few small pebbles tumbling over the edge, vanishing instantly into the abyss.
Steadying himself, Mo Tu took a deep breath and gazed at Guan Fusha with infatuation. “Miss Guan, do you truly want me to jump?”
“What, are you afraid to jump?” A flicker of mockery passed through Guan Fusha’s eyes.
They were all the same. Full of pretty words, claiming they’d sacrifice their lives and everything for her, yet it was all just empty talk! When faced with real danger, what could possibly matter more than one’s own life? Human nature would always be selfish at its core.
Mo Tu stared blankly at Guan Fusha for a moment, then turned his gaze toward the wind-whipped abyss below. Clenching his fists, he made up his mind, “If I can bring a smile to your face, I’m willing to do anything—even if it costs me my life, it would be worth it.”
