Hold Tight to the Female Lead's Thigh [Transmigration GL] - Episode 12
With the exception of Yan Hong, the head of the Punishment Hall, four of the other seven hall masters were Guan Fusha’s trusted confidants. The outcome of the vote was, of course, a foregone conclusion.
Qi Yong was so furious he nearly stormed off in a huff.
What a bunch of fools! Everything he had done was for the Right Protector’s sake, yet they turned around and stabbed him in the back, allowing that woman of unknown origins to take the position of Left Protector. They couldn’t even distinguish right from wrong!
A man in blue whispered into Qi Yong’s ear, “Elder, don’t be angry. Most of the eight hall masters are the Protector’s confidants. How could they possibly understand the depth of your intentions? You mustn’t let such trivial matters harm your health. The sect still needs you to oversee the overall situation, and the Protector also requires your support.”
Upon hearing this, Qi Yong’s anger subsided somewhat.
Indeed, when it came down to it, the Protector was still too young and inexperienced, which was why she had been deceived by someone of unknown origins and allowed her to take the position of Left Protector without discerning right from wrong. As one of the Three Elders of the sect, it was his duty to wholeheartedly assist the Protector and eliminate dissenting voices for her.
Thinking this, Qi Yong couldn’t help but narrow his eyes and gaze at the figure in pink standing behind Guan Fusha.
Utterly unremarkable and seemingly unthreatening. However, it was precisely such people who required extra caution. Those who could play the fool to deceive the wise were usually anything but simple.
“I hereby announce that, from this day forward, Cui Taohua will become the Left Protector of our Night God Sect,” Guan Fusha said with a soft smile, though her gaze toward Taohua carried a deeper meaning.
Taohua felt goosebumps rise all over. She stepped forward, facing the curious and envious stares of the crowd, especially Qi Yong, whose resentful glare made it seem as though she had stolen his man. If looks could kill, she would have been utterly annihilated.
Guan Fusha introduced the eight hall masters and three elders to Taohua one by one. The remaining elder was away on business and not present in the sect. The man in blue from earlier was also one of the sect’s elders, named Guo Ping, a disciple of Qi Yong. His qualifications and abilities were hardly sufficient for the position of elder, but with Qi Yong as his “esteemed mentor,” he had effortlessly become one of the Four Great Elders.
Only then did Taohua understand. He was just like her, having gotten his position through connections!
Qi Yong had never shown Taohua a friendly face, and Taohua was not foolish enough to try warming up to his cold reception. After a brief round of introductions, there was nothing left to discuss. Guan Fusha decided to adjourn the meeting, allowing everyone to return home and sparing them the sight of Qi Yong’s face, which resembled a withered chrysanthemum after three days of constipation.
After leaving the main hall, Taohua closely followed behind Guan Fusha.
She was no fool and could clearly sense the underlying tension between Qi Yong and Guan Fusha. Although Qi Yong appeared respectful toward Guan Fusha on the surface, he consistently used his status as one of the Three Elders to influence her decisions. Rome wasn’t built in a day. It seemed Guan Fusha had long been displeased with him.
Noticing Taohua’s probing gaze, Guan Fusha stopped and turned to ask, “Junior Sister, is there something you wish to ask me?”
Taohua’s eyes flickered uncertainly. There were many things she wanted to ask, but even if she did, would Guan Fusha answer?
Nevertheless, Taohua cautiously asked, “Senior Sister, about the matter of the Left Protector.”
Guan Fusha listened indifferently as she walked into a pavilion and sat down on a stone bench. A maid immediately served tea. “Could it be that you’re unwilling, Junior Sister?”
These words made Taohua feel as if an olive pit were stuck in her throat, unable to swallow it down or spit it out.
In truth, she was extremely reluctant. Although Qi Yong was dissatisfied with Guan Fusha’s methods, he was utterly loyal to the Night God Sect and always sided with her. Moreover, the resentful look he had given her earlier seemed as though he wished to eliminate her without delay. He might already be discussing with his subordinates how to get rid of her, the troublesome Left Guardian.
“How could that be?” Under someone else’s roof, one must bow their head. Taohua smiled insincerely as she replied, “Elder Sister entrusting me with such an important task. I couldn’t be happier.”
“That’s good then.” Guan Fusha took a delicate sip of fragrant tea and said, “Elder Qi is one of the Three Yuan Elders, highly respected and revered by the followers in the sect. But now that he is advanced in years, I fear it is no longer suitable for him to continue laboring like this. What do you think, Junior Sister?”
As she listened, Taohua nodded. In simple terms, Guan Fusha was fed up with Qi Yong, that old fool, for being disobedient and even attempting to command her from above, so she wanted to kick him out.
“I have only been in the sect for a short time and am not as familiar with its personnel matters as Elder Sister. Since Elder Qi is too old to handle such burdens, why not let him return home to enjoy a peaceful retirement?”
A glimmer of approval flashed in Guan Fusha’s eyes. She had indeed chosen the right person.
“Guardian.” A’Tian had arrived at the pavilion unnoticed, her brows furrowed with a grave expression.
She approached Guan Fusha and whispered a few words into her ear. Guan Fusha’s expression shifted slightly before returning to normal as she instructed, “I understand. First, take Junior Sister back to the villa.”
“Yes.” A’Tian nodded to Taohua and gestured, “Left Guardian, this way please.”
Though A’Tian had lowered her voice while whispering, Taohua’s sharp ears caught Xiao Zhu’s name, and she immediately grew anxious. “Has Miss Xiao Zhu been injured?”
A’Tian glanced at Guan Fusha and, receiving her permission, replied, “Please don’t worry, Miss. Xiao Zhu only suffered some minor superficial injuries, nothing serious.”
Hearing this, Taohua felt relieved.
“Elder Sister, I have a bold request and hope you will grant it.”
Guan Fusha looked at her with interest. “Go on.”
“It’s about Miss Xiao Zhu. Earlier in the Hibiscus Garden, she risked her own safety to protect me. I hope you won’t punish her.” The Night God Sect’s rules were so harsh that Taohua was genuinely worried Xiao Zhu might be penalized for failing in her duties.
“Since Xiao Zhu did her utmost to protect you, I naturally won’t punish her. There’s no need to worry, Junior Sister.” Guan Fusha smiled faintly, though inwardly she scoffed.
She had only been in the sect for a few days, yet she was already so close to Xiao Zhu, even pleading on her behalf!
“A’Tian, take Junior Sister back to the villa first.”
“Yes, Guardian.”
Reassured by Guan Fusha’s promise, Taohua followed A’Tian back to her villa with peace of mind.
Along the way, she had no heart to admire the exotic flowers and rare plants, her thoughts entirely preoccupied with Xiao Zhu’s injuries. After all, she had been hurt while trying to save her.
“Miss A’Tian, are Xiao Zhu’s injuries serious?”
A’Tian covered her mouth with a silk handkerchief and chuckled softly. “Please rest assured, Miss. Xiao Zhu’s injuries truly aren’t serious; just superficial wounds.”
“Is it really not serious?” Peach Blossom couldn’t help but doubt, the cruel image of Xiao Yuan brandishing the whip still vivid in her mind, as if she wished to tear her limb from limb.
“Really,” A’Tian assured her once more. “If you don’t believe me, you can ask Xiao Zhu yourself when we return to the villa.”
