Hey! Control Yourself! - Chapter 9
Chapter 9: Death of a Prince
“…A pack of… lowly Alphas… how dare you dictate things to me!”
Prince Bruton had never been pointed at in his entire life. Today, he was being pointed at, critiqued, and bartered over like a piece of cheap livestock.
“D*mn you… d*mn you all… I want you kneeling on the ground licking the soles of my shoes… and then I’ll dig out your glands and crush them!” He shook with rage, veins bulging, as his proud deterrence pheromones flooded the room in a frenzy.
The pressure in the room spiked instantly. It was a suffocating sensation, like being throttled; pores felt constricted, and a bone-deep fear urged one to submit.
Akashus, the captain of the guard, thought to himself that it was a good thing the pheromones weren’t targeted at him, or he likely wouldn’t be able to remain standing. The deterrence rapidly saturated the space.
However, the group stood there unmoved.
There was no collapsing to the knees, no looks of humiliated resentment as expected.
“How is this possible…” Bruton’s eyes widened, staring at them in disbelief.
“What? How does it feel?” Sha Mo, the only Beta among the four, turned to ask the other three.
Initially, while the Baibao quartet acted relaxed, they were still wary of the legendary Enigma pheromones. Yet, seeing the other party release his deterrence with such gravitas, only to smell something rather indescribable—after a moment of wasted tension, the whole thing became utterly dull.
“Huh? Did we get it wrong? Is this guy actually an Enigma?” Lei Yi asked, puzzled.
Royce frowned in thought. “No, Enigma pheromones are different from others. Perhaps this guy’s level is just too low.”
“So, are we still taking this guy’s genes?”
“…” Bruton’s face was distorted as he looked up. Having his lifelong pride as an Enigma completely ignored by several Alphas made him feel like he was about to spit fire.
Akashus watched them in shock. Who were these people? Where did they come from? How could any Alpha resist an Enigma’s deterrence?
“Let’s just dig out the gland and see,” Shen Ji, who had been silent until now, spoke up.
The moment he said it, not only Bruton and Akashus, but even his own teammates were stunned.
“?” Weren’t we just going to pull a few hairs? At most take a vial of blood?
Since entering, Shen Ji had noticed the room’s decor was incredibly eerie: blankets sewn from monster hides, wine bottles soaking crushed internal organs. The lampshade overhead was a single piece of facial skin still attached to a scalp.
He walked over to a row of exquisite cabinets and found a Mermaid corpse preserved in formalin—it looked like a juvenile. The face wasn’t even as large as Shen Ji’s palm, but the tender gland had already been bitten through. The silver hair and pointed ears had lost their luster.
For some reason, Shen Ji was reminded of a certain figure with similarly pointed ears.
To avoid leaving traces, he had already put on the white gloves he’d prepared. Shen Ji selected a small knife made of human bone from the collection and walked toward Bruton, whose mind was now spinning in a state of confused helplessness.
Lei Yi and the others began to notice the displays in the room and realized just how perverted this man was.
“Akashus, you idiot, what are you doing?! He’s going to kill me!” Bruton shrieked, glaring at the guard captain.
Akashus moved his arm slightly but snapped to a halt, his expression turning into one of grim resolve.
Bruton yelled in despair, “Akashus! Are you betraying the Royal Family? You d*mn…”
Akashus still didn’t move.
Bruton turned to seek help from the butler, only to find the man had long been strangled into unconsciousness by mental energy. He looked at the approaching Shen Ji; in those black, unruffled pupils, he sensed a truly heartless killer.
“I have money! Please! I have many Omegas, I’ll give them all to you… don’t touch my gland!” He began to scramble backward to escape.
Lei Yi and Sha Mo released their mental energy to pin Bruton’s limbs, while Royce grabbed the prince’s long, intricately braided hair and yanked, exposing the gland at the back of his neck.
Shen Ji’s bone knife pierced the skin with a hook and a flick.
“No! No! NO!!!”
A stream of blood flowed out. Akashus watched as Bruton’s gland was carved out in its entirety. The warm gland stained Shen Ji’s white gloves red. Bruton collapsed onto the sofa like a dead fish, twitching.
“It certainly looks like an Enigma,” Royce leaned in to look. Sha Mo produced a glass bottle and placed the gland inside. “In that case, there’s no need to take his hair.”
Royce looked at Akashus. The captain was still in shock, but he knew he was no match for them and could only wait for death in despair.
“Since you aren’t afraid to die, why didn’t you protect your employer?”
“He isn’t worth risking my life for.” Akashus was a guard raised by the Royal Family, so he had to submit to Bruton, but in his heart, he knew the depths of Bruton’s cruelty.
Lying on the sofa, Bruton’s eyes were filled with malice, wishing he could bite Akashus to death on the spot. But he lacked the strength to even sit up.
Royce said, “Let’s go.”
Suddenly, Lei Yi said, “Wait, we can’t go back yet anyway. Why don’t we go see the Left and Right Cities?”
“The data shows it’s a gathering place for royal nobles with tight security.”
“Tada!” Lei Yi stepped to the side, presenting Sha Mo with both hands. “See this? Same hair color as the pervert prince, same skin tone, same eye color. Just put on a wig and change clothes—totally OK!”
Given the Gaya people’s degree of face-blindness, it was indeed plausible. “And of course, our version is bound to be devastatingly handsome,” Lei Yi added, though he was careful not to mention names.
Royce looked at Shen Ji, assuming he wouldn’t want to go. However, Shen Ji said, “We should go.” He had a hunch that deeper secrets were hidden there, possibly involving Sheng Lu.
And so, the Third Prince’s hovering frigate set off again toward the Left and Right Cities.
Seeing how bold they were, Akashus was incredulous. “Wait, entering the Left and Right Cities requires the Third Prince’s fingerprint authentication.”
A spray of blood flew, and Bruton screamed. A finger fell to the floor. Shen Ji had cut off his index finger.
“…” Akashus froze. He had only meant to warn them that the cities weren’t easy to enter; he didn’t want them to take the risk.
“This should do it,” Lei Yi said, picking up the finger with a gloved hand.
Akashus hesitated. “Wait… it’s not the index finger. It’s the thumb.”
Subsequently, Bruton’s thumb was also severed, accompanied by an even more agonized wail. “…Akashus, you will die a miserable death…” he hissed, cursing him through sweat and tears.
“Anything else?” Royce asked. A man like Bruton didn’t deserve sympathy.
Akashus cast off his final psychological burden. “There’s also iris recognition.”
Shen Ji walked toward Bruton.
Bruton looked at the demonic man before him in terror, his body convulsing in a breakdown. Lei Yi and Sha Mo used their mental energy to pin him down once more.
Shen Ji gouged out one of Bruton’s eyeballs.
Akashus watched with a complex expression. He never could have imagined that the once-arrogant Enigma prince would one day be reduced to such a state of being slaughtered at will—and by the very Alphas and Betas he had always looked down upon.
The hull of the hovering frigate traced a smooth arc through the night sky, entering the underground tracks of the Left and Right Cities. The group disembarked and headed straight for the elevator.
As they entered the elevator, Akashus suggested following behind them. “This way it won’t arouse suspicion,” he explained.
“Why are you helping us?” Royce asked.
“I don’t want anything to happen to you.” As a fellow Alpha, he saw that they could remain unaffected by an Enigma and easily trample the tyrannical prince. At this moment, these people had almost become gods in Akashus’s heart.
Royce said, “We can’t trust you unless you kill the Third Prince.”
Akashus turned and drew his knight’s sword. The once-mighty prince lay there, watching with his one remaining eye, shaking his head in terror: “No… Akashus, I apologize to you.”
Akashus decapitated him with a single stroke.
Finally, they set fire to Bruton’s corpse. The unconscious butler and pilot were tossed into the cockpit. Sha Mo had by now changed into a clean set of Bruton’s clothes. Using the fingerprints and iris recognition, they passed through without a hitch.
The cold steel walls of the interior gave way to increasingly luxurious and dreamlike decor. Akashus followed behind them, and the passing staff noticed nothing unusual.
“Bruton came here for an auction.”
Two beautiful attendants pushed open a set of large doors. It was indeed an auction, but the items being sold were far from ordinary. A manager familiarly led them to a private box—evidently one under the Third Prince’s name.
“Item Number 13: The Arrow of White Moonlight. Wearing this necklace will exhaust the wearer’s lifelong luck in exchange for a temporary blessing of fortune.”
“Wow, that’s cool,” Lei Yi marveled.
“Sacrificing a lifetime of luck for one moment of success? That’s stupid,” Royce remarked.
“Item Number 16: A gland from a Mermaid.”
This was clearly the showstopper. Many rooms placed bids, and the amount climbed higher and higher. Lei Yi and the others frowned. “Rich people really are interested in this stuff.”
Shen Ji clicked on the description, and the text popped up on the screen: “This is the gland of a 300-year-old male Alpha Mermaid, still containing at least 10% mermaid pheromones.”
Akashus noted, “Bruton was always obsessed with these types of items.”
“We noticed,” Lei Yi shrugged.
Just then, Shen Ji’s gaze caught a familiar silhouette. On the diamond-shaped staircase to the left, a white figure flashed past.
“I’m going out for a moment,” Shen Ji left those words and vanished from the private box.
