Her Imperfection for Wifehood - Chapter 33.2
Chapter 33.2
She ran to Wei Yinxia, tugging at her clothes and whispering, “Auntie Yinyin, is Mommy arguing with Auntie Fu?”
Wei Yinxia held Xiaoyu’s small hand, bent down, and softly answered her, “Mommy and Auntie Fu are not arguing. Auntie Fu fell and is hurt, and she needs someone to help her up.”
“But Big Sister Qingyan clearly tried to help Auntie Fu up. Why didn’t Auntie Fu get up?”
“Big Sister Qingyan is only a teenager, still a young girl. Auntie Fu is an adult, and she was worried that Big Sister Qingyan wasn’t strong enough to pull her up, that’s why she didn’t get up.” Wei Yinxia patiently covered for Fu Wenjing.
“Oh. Mommy is an adult, so Auntie Fu wants Mommy to pull her up.”
“That’s right.”
Looking at Fu Wenjing on the ground, Tang Yunqing frowned. She didn’t find her annoying; instead, she found the person a little—cute?
Tang Yunqing sternly put on a straight face, scolding her like a child: “Look at yourself. Get up.”
“You pull me up.” Fu Wenjing stretched out her right arm and said pitifully, “Look, I’ve been working for two hours. Even if I don’t get credit, I’ve at least put in the effort, right? Can’t you just pull me up?”
This… Qingyan was dumbfounded.
Doctor Fu usually maintained a solemn and proper demeanor. What possessed her today?
Wei Yinxia covered her mouth and chuckled, offering an assist: “Sister Yunqing, Doctor Fu’s pants must be dirty. It damages the image of a young lady from a good family. Her size is similar to yours. Why don’t you take her inside to change into another pair?”
With someone providing a way out, Tang Yunqing finally reached out her hand, and Fu Wenjing quickly grabbed it.
She first cast a grateful smile at Wei Yinxia, and did not forget to tell the stunned Qingyan on the side: “Qingyan, you and Second Miss Wei stay here and look after Xiaoyu well. Be careful when playing on the swing; don’t push too hard.”
The implication was that she and Miss Tang were going inside to change pants.
Fu Wenjing followed Tang Yunqing and disappeared through the doorway, running into Madam Tang who had woken up and was coming downstairs.
“Mom, you’re awake.”
“What’s with the two of you?”
“Doctor Fu got her pants dirty. I’m taking her to change. Xiaoyu and Yinyin are outside. Doctor Fu made a swing for Xiaoyu. You should go take a look.”
A hint of surprise flashed in Madam Tang’s eyes. She hadn’t expected Fu Wenjing to be capable of such manual labor: “Thank you for your trouble, Doctor Fu.”
Fu Wenjing nodded slightly: “It’s no trouble at all, Madam Tang. I’m just happy as long as Xiaoyu likes it.”
After Madam Tang also came to the big tree to watch Xiaoyu swing, Wei Yinxia felt somewhat awkward. Claiming fatigue, she excused herself to return to her room.
She retrieved the book she had been reading that afternoon from the second-floor balcony and returned to her room to continue reading.
About twenty minutes later, Fu Wenjing knocked on her slightly ajar door: “Second Miss Wei, forgive my intrusion.”
“Doctor Fu, please come in.” Wei Yinxia stood up to welcome her and said calmly, “The pants fit well.”
“Mhm, they fit unexpectedly well.” Fu Wenjing closed the door. “Thank you for smoothing over the awkward situation just now, Second Miss Wei. I came by to check on your wound.”
Wei Yinxia walked to the bed, took off her jacket, and turned her back to Fu Wenjing to unbutton her undergarment, pulling it down to her elbows so she could see the wound on her back.
Using the spare first-aid kit from the manor, Fu Wenjing peeled back the gauze: “This wound… is taking a little longer to heal than I expected.”
“I accidentally bumped the wall, and it opened up once,” Wei Yinxia said truthfully.
“No wonder.” She discarded the soiled gauze, cleaned the wound, applied ointment again, and as she picked up the scissors and a clean piece of gauze, she cut it, saying, “Let’s change the gauze one last time today. You won’t need to put one on after this.”
Wei Yinxia, however, changed the subject: “Doctor Fu, you must be over twenty, right? Are your parents not worried about your marriage?”
“My family is quite… liberal.”
“The person you like,” Wei Yinxia paused for a few seconds, “she is very happy.”
Fu Wenjing was unsettled. Her hand, changing the gauze, trembled, but she continued her work: “I don’t quite understand what you’re referring to, Second Miss Wei.”
When there was no more activity on her back, Wei Yinxia pulled up her clothes and turned to face Fu Wenjing with a smile: “The starlight in your eyes only shines for her. It’s better not to say it aloud. That way, you can accompany her for a long time, simply and peacefully.”
As she said this, tears welled up in Wei Yinxia’s eyes. She lowered her head to dress and tidy her appearance, apologizing for her words: “I apologize, Doctor Fu. I was being presumptuous.”
The air was flowing, and time was flowing too.
Fu Wenjing clearly saw the tears in Wei Yinxia’s eyes. She seemed to realize something, calmly packed the medical box, and replied, “It’s nothing.”
Leaving the room, Fu Wenjing stood in the corridor for a moment, then went to Tang Yunqing’s door.
Inside, she had changed into a pair of Tang Yunqing’s pants, and after boldly teasing Tang Yunqing until her face was flushed, Tang Yunqing said she was going to take a nap and wouldn’t see her off.
And fragments of memories from many years ago flew into Fu Wenjing’s mind, one by one.
She was a professional with a four-year medical degree. Even Tang Yunqing herself might not remember that they had met at the medical school she attended.
The Tang family had donated several advanced medical pieces of equipment to the medical school. Boss Tang, Madam Tang, and Miss Tang—the family of three—all attended the donation ceremony.
At the time, she had been in the medical school for less than a year. Due to her intelligence and strong learning ability, she far surpassed all her peers and was exceptionally promoted by the dean to the head of the experimental team.
She was originally supposed to speak on behalf of the students at the equipment donation ceremony, but she was intercepted on her way there, forcibly dragged by two senior female students into a secluded, dilapidated storage room.
Fortunately, the two girls did not physically torture or humiliate her. They only “locked” and guarded her, stalling for time so she couldn’t attend the event.
If she couldn’t go, someone else would naturally take the stage.
Unwilling to be trapped, she moved a broken chair and smashed it against the door, trying to make enough noise to be discovered, but luck did not favor her.
Instead, they tied her wrists with a dirty cloth, gagged her mouth, tore two fasteners off her collar, and warned her not to cause any more trouble, or they wouldn’t hesitate to physically harm her.
It wasn’t until the ceremony ended that she was released, disheveled, covering her collar, and stumbling toward the venue.
Losing the opportunity to speak was nothing, but the humiliation she suffered was unforgivable.
She asked a classmate for the name of the speaker.
The sanctimonious male student was a senior, the head of another experimental team, standing beside the Tang family of three, basking in the spotlight with the dean.
She rushed over, disregarding how dirty her face was, how messy her clothes were, and how terrible her condition was, and slapped the student across the face with a loud smack.
“Despicable!” She was so furious she couldn’t utter a complete sentence to curse him.
The boy didn’t fight back. Instead, he twisted the narrative, feigning innocence, and called her “crazy.”
The dean explained to the distinguished guests that she was originally the best of this batch of students, but she must have been stimulated by something today, causing her emotional distress, and that there must be a misunderstanding. At the same time, he signaled other students to come and pull her away.
“Wait.” Just as she was utterly exhausted and about to be forcibly dragged away again, Tang Yunqing spoke.
Under everyone’s confused gaze, Tang Yunqing untied the silk scarf from her neck and personally tied it around her, concealing the fair skin faintly visible beneath the torn collar.
“Right and wrong, justice is in the hearts of the people. Since you are a medical talent recognized and praised by the dean, you are certainly not a mediocre person. What I want to tell you is, as an outstanding woman, you should always be clean and respectable, maintaining your composure so others don’t laugh at you. Do you understand?”
Then she glared at the male student who was restraining her arms: “Manhandling a female classmate in broad daylight? Did your parents and teachers not teach you about the propriety between men and women? Also, are you all blind? Can’t you see the injury on her wrist?”
Tang Yunqing’s voice was cold, and her expression was cold, yet at that moment, she made Fu Wenjing feel immeasurably warm.
An eternal moment, a sudden rush of emotion, an irresistible infatuation.
The stunned Fu Wenjing accepted Tang Yunqing’s silk scarf. Before she could even say “thank you,” Tang Yunqing had turned and left, leaving her only with a beautiful and noble silhouette.
The school investigated the matter. It turned out that two girls who had crushes on the male student were unhappy that Fu Wenjing stole the spotlight from him. So they “took it upon themselves” to teach Fu Wenjing a lesson, thereby creating an opportunity for the boy to show off in front of everyone.
The two girls publicly apologized to Fu Wenjing and received disciplinary action from the school. The male student, to save his reputation, also made a pretense of publicly apologizing to her.
Since then, Tang Yunqing’s image was deeply etched in Fu Wenjing’s heart.
She thought of her during class, when walking, when eating, and even dreamed of her.
She had struggled with whether or not to visit her to express her gratitude.
But her family was just an ordinary medical family. The disparity with a wealthy family like the Tangs was too great. If she went, she would only be seen as trying to attach herself to the powerful.
Moreover, Tang Yunqing was already engaged at the time. Although she couldn’t forget her, she also knew that the feelings she harbored for Tang Yunqing, another woman, went against social norms.
She was ashamed to speak of it. She could only suppress her feelings, occasionally stealing a distant glance at her.
In the first year after graduation and starting work at the hospital, she finally had the opportunity to speak and interact with Tang Yunqing openly as a doctor.
Tang Yunqing was already a wife and a mother.
But the radiance she exuded was still brilliant, even more stunning and moving than she had been years ago, and she was even more captivating.
This year marked the sixth year since she met Tang Yunqing. And also, the sixth year of secretly loving Tang Yunqing.
Tang Yunqing was very happy, and she was sincerely happy for her. From the beginning until now, she had never once considered expressing her feelings to her. Being able to quietly accompany her was enough.
An Jing was the only person she had ever been jealous of.
She even questioned what kind of relationship existed between Tang Yunqing and An Jing.
She got the answer to that question a few days ago when she visited the manor to treat Wei Yinxia.
An Jing did have affection for Tang Yunqing, but it was the affection of friendship or kinship, because her affection for Wei Yinxia was the affection of love.
Perhaps it was because they were kindred spirits. She could discern the love between Wei Yinxia and An Jing, and Wei Yinxia could also discern her love for Tang Yunqing.
She thought she had skillfully hidden her unspeakable feelings over the years, leaving no trace, yet today, it had been revealed under Wei Yinxia’s eyes.
An Jing was no longer the only person she was jealous of.
She was jealous of Wei Yinxia, too.
Jealous of the intense love for each other in An Jing’s and Wei Yinxia’s eyes. Regardless of the future, at least in the present, they loved each other openly.
But what about herself? In this lifetime, it was likely that she would never have a romantic connection with that person.
She had told herself again and again that loving someone was not about possessing them.
Her love for Tang Yunqing was pure, spiritual, sublime, and sacred. She didn’t love Tang Yunqing for her beauty or her body.
Let it be this way.
She would be a good doctor and dedicate her life to medicine. As for those unspoken feelings, they would eventually find a suitable destination—to dissipate with the wind, to settle like dust, or to carry over to the next life.
In this life, this was enough.
