Her Imperfection for Wifehood - Chapter 28
Chapter 28
The wounds on her back were painful. Wei Yinxia dared not move rashly, biting her lip as she waited for A-Jing to help her.
“Yinyin!”
“A-Jing.”
An Jing supported her, leaning close to carefully examine the wounds on her back. The sight was shocking. She coaxed gently: “Don’t be afraid. I’m here. It will hurt a little, so bear with it.”
Wei Yinxia nodded, gripping the clothes around An Jing’s waist with both hands and resting her forehead on An Jing’s shoulder.
The bamboo points weren’t deep, but two slightly larger bamboo splinters remained embedded in the wounds. The blood flowing out along the splinters stained the ripped fabric of her dress red.
An Jing half-hugged Wei Yinxia, helping her stand straight: “Yinyin, I need to pull out two pieces of bamboo. Hold me tight. If it truly hurts, bite me.”
“Mhm.” How could she bear to bite her A-Jing? She could only grit her teeth and endure it.
Tang Yunqing walked over. Seeing the two of them embracing so tightly, a strange feeling swirled in her heart.
“I’ve already called. A doctor will be here shortly. Don’t stay outside; let’s go inside.”
“Yunqing, thank you.” An Jing offered a grateful smile.
“Mommy, hug…” Xiaoyu cried, holding out her hands.
“Be a good girl, Xiaoyu. Does anything hurt on you?” Tang Yunqing finally took her daughter from Qingyan’s hands and asked, “If it hurts, you must tell Mommy.”
“Xiaoyu doesn’t hurt. Xiaoyu is just scared. I saw Auntie Yinyin was almost crying. Does Auntie Yinyin hurt a lot? If Auntie Yinyin hurts, will Godmother be mad at Xiaoyu?” Xiaoyu sobbed intermittently.
“It’s okay, Xiaoyu. Auntie Yinyin doesn’t hurt, and Godmother won’t be mad.” Wei Yinxia endured the pain and forced a smile.
“Don’t cry, Xiaoyu,” An Jing immediately followed Wei Yinxia’s words. “Godmother won’t be mad at Xiaoyu. Be a good girl and listen to Mommy. You must be tired after playing for so long, right? If you’re tired, take a good nap. When you wake up, Auntie Yinyin won’t hurt anymore.”
Yinyin was her sweetheart, and Xiaoyu was also precious to her. She had to consider both of her darlings’ emotions.
“I’ll take Xiaoyu back inside first.” Tang Yunqing turned to walk back, then turned her head and said to Wei Yinxia, “Qingyan said you protected Xiaoyu so she wouldn’t get hurt. Thank you. I owe you for this favor.”
“Miss Tang…”
“Calling me Miss Tang is too distant. You can call me Sister Yunqing from now on.”
In the guest room, Qingyan first brought in a basin of hot water, then brought in the spare medicine box, intending to help: “Boss Jing, here is the medicine box. Can I help you?”
“No need. Just put the supplies on the table. I can handle it. You go help your Madam look after Xiaoyu. Also, remind the kitchen to prepare some extra light dishes for dinner.” An Jing politely refused.
She knew how to perform the basic treatment for this kind of wound, and one person was enough. Qingyan’s presence would only make her and Wei Yinxia uncomfortable.
Qingyan replied, “Yes,” backed out of the room, and closed the door. This was the first time she had seen Boss Jing look so anxious.
“Does it hurt much?” With no outsiders present, An Jing kissed Wei Yinxia’s forehead with distress, tucking her sweat-dampened hair behind her ear. “Fortunately, there’s not much bleeding. I’ll clean the wound briefly before the doctor arrives.”
“Mhm, I can bear it.” Wei Yinxia sat on the chair, leaning forward, one hand gripping the armrest and the other resting on the round table.
An Jing took scissors to cut the torn fabric wider, gently wiped the blood around the wound with a dampened clean handkerchief, and carefully removed a few tiny bamboo splinters.
Soon, the doctor arrived.
It was a woman.
Tang Yunqing had specifically requested one when she called.
Wei Yinxia was an unmarried lady. Since she was injured on her back under her watch, how could she let a male doctor treat her? An Jing probably wouldn’t allow it either.
It wasn’t a life-or-death situation, so they certainly chose a female doctor.
The female doctor quickly dealt with the injury on Wei Yinxia’s shoulder blade, performing another round of debridement, disinfection, and applying medicine, and giving an injection: “All done.”
An Jing looked at the largest wound, which was two or three centimeters long, and asked: “Does it need stitches?”
The female doctor replied: “It’s not necessary. The wound is not very deep. Just avoid getting it wet daily and prevent infection. Change the dressing on time every day, and it should heal in a week. It will leave a slight scar, which won’t completely disappear. I brought scar removal cream from the hospital. You can try applying it once the wound heals.”
“Understood, thank you.”
Throughout the entire process, Tang Yunqing and Wei Yinxia didn’t speak. It was only An Jing and the doctor in a Q&A.
Since the clothing on her back had been cut open, Tang Yunqing and the female doctor naturally saw the bruises on Wei Yinxia’s right shoulder and back.
The female doctor didn’t ask because she could tell the injuries were inflicted by a rod-like object and weren’t new. Also, being close, she smelled the applied ointment, so there was no need to pry.
Tang Yunqing didn’t ask because she mostly guessed where the injuries came from.
The female doctor bowed out: “Then I’ll take my leave.”
“I’ll see you out.” Tang Yunqing was not unfamiliar with this female doctor.
Her offer to see her out was genuine, as Tang Yunqing didn’t say another word to her on the way to the door.
At the main entrance, she simply told the chauffeur: “Drive Doctor Fu back to the hospital safely.”
Fu Wenjing was the female doctor’s name.
Over the years, Tang Yunqing had called Central Hospital a handful of times, but each time she called, she specifically requested a “female doctor.”
And each time, Fu Wenjing was the one who came. It seemed to have become an unspoken agreement between her and the hospital, and between her and Fu Wenjing.
“Fortunately.” Fu Wenjing opened the car door and gave Tang Yunqing a faint smile.
“Fortunately what?” Tang Yunqing raised an eyebrow and asked.
“Nothing.” Fortunately, you weren’t the one who was hurt. “If you need me in the evening or at any other special time, Miss Tang can call my home number directly. I gave the number to Qingyan; she remembers it.”
Fu Wenjing then looked at Tang Yunqing’s stomach, her eyes flickering.
She knew Tang Yunqing was pregnant, about four months along, though it wasn’t very obvious yet. She cautioned: “Even though the fetus is past three months, you must still be mindful of your diet and emotions.”
Tang Yunqing turned her head to look elsewhere. That damn Fu Wenjing had a pair of seductive phoenix eyes, and her smile made people nervous.
Only when the car drove away did she let out a sigh of relief. Every time she saw Fu Wenjing, she felt a strange sensation, yet it wasn’t dislike.
At most, she felt completely uncomfortable, unable to smile or speak! Utterly annoying!
In the room, only An Jing and Wei Yinxia remained.
An Jing rummaged through the suitcase and found the pajamas Wei Yinxia had worn last night: “No one else is here. Let’s change your clothes. It will be more comfortable.”
“Mhm.”
Wei Yinxia agreed but remained seated. She had just tried; if she lifted her right hand, it would pull on the wound on her back.
An Jing’s heart pounded. She took the pajamas and placed them on the back of the chair, then took Wei Yinxia’s hand: “Yinyin, I know your wound hurts a lot. Can I help you change into these pajamas?”
“Mhm.” Wei Yinxia lowered her eyes and nodded.
It had been years since An Jing had unfastened the knotted buttons of a qipao. By the time she had slowly, awkwardly, and without looking away, unfastened all the buttons of the qipao Wei Yinxia was wearing, both their earlobes were flushed red.
Wei Yinxia wore a conservative “little vest” brassiere underneath, which was also torn on the back and needed to be removed.
“The brassiere… has to come off too. I, I…”
“A-Jing,” seeing her so flustered that she was stumbling over her words, Wei Yinxia felt less shy. “I’ve seen your body too. Let’s consider us even.”
Recalling their experience in the old part of the city, An Jing did relax a bit.
She originally wanted to go around behind Wei Yinxia, but Wei Yinxia grabbed her wrist to stop her: “Don’t go behind. You… just unfasten it from the front. It will be easier.”
The front.
An Jing’s throat moved.
She tried hard to clear her mind, unfastening the beautiful woman’s brassiere from the side to slip it off. But the sight that met her eyes made her feel parched.
The person who had been exposed raised her hand to cover herself and softly called out: “A-Jing, it’s cold.”
“Mhm? Ah, I’m sorry, I, I…” An Jing was incoherent. She picked up the clothes and unfolded them, her hands reaching over Wei Yinxia’s shoulders from behind to help her put them on, then carefully fastening the buttons one by one.
Just helping her beloved change a shirt left An Jing completely out of breath and drenched in sweat.
“The pants need to be worn too. Yinyin, you… need to stand up.”
Wei Yinxia held An Jing’s hand and stood up, the qipao around her waist naturally falling.
An Jing picked up the pajama bottoms and was about to crouch down, but Wei Yinxia held her back: “A-Jing, I can put the pants on myself.”
“The top is already on. You’ve seen everything that needs to be seen. What difference does one pair of pants make?” An Jing squatted down, held Wei Yinxia’s ankle, had her lift her foot one at a time to put the pants on, and finally stood up to pull the waistband up to the right position for her.
“Now that you’ve changed, do you want to lie on your side or stomach on the bed for a rest?”
“A-Jing.”
Wei Yinxia called out, tightly clasping An Jing’s left hand, and, using the leverage, stood on her tiptoes.
An Jing couldn’t help but yield to her kiss.
The two were kissing passionately when Qingyan knocked on the door and said from outside: “Boss Jing, Madam asked me to ask if you are staying next door to her, or next door to Miss Yinxia?”
Wei Yinxia was startled and hid her face in An Jing’s arms.
An Jing answered without thinking: “Neither is necessary. Yinyin and I will share a room.”
Qingyan: “…”
She wouldn’t dare relay that message.
Wei Yinxia quickly tugged on An Jing’s sleeve: “That’s improper. Miss Tang will misunderstand.”
An Jing smiled slyly: “Misunderstand what?”
Wei Yinxia ignored her, turning and walking to the bed: “I’m going to rest for a while. Boss Jing can do whatever you like. I can’t talk you out of anything.”
An Jing smiled indulgently, opened the door: “Qingyan, take the dirty clothes to be discarded, and do a little cleaning. Be quiet about it.”
Qingyan replied: “Okay. Will you tell Madam yourself?”
“You little imp.”
At dinner time, only Tang Yunqing and An Jing sat facing each other.
The table was filled with aesthetically pleasing and fragrant dishes, showcasing the luxury of a wealthy family. Tang Yunqing and Xiaoyu had arrived at the manor earliest, but they were followed by Yang family cooks and several servants.
Xiaoyu was asleep, and Wei Yinxia hadn’t woken up yet, so neither of them was called to dinner.
“I’d like to know what magic she cast on you? To make Boss Jing serve her personally?” After many years of friendship, Tang Yunqing had never slept in the same room as An Jing. “Don’t tell me you’re sharing a bed, too?”
“Yunqing, your family is rolling in money. You can spare one little pillow, can’t you?”
An Jing said, placing a chicken drumstick in Tang Yunqing’s bowl: “Did you hire a new cook? This chicken soup is excellent. Here, two drumsticks, one for you, and one to save for Xiaoyu.”
“An Jing, answer me!” Miss Tang, whose appetite was diminished, wanted to throw her chopsticks.
“My dear Miss, don’t get so angry. Don’t let it upset the baby. We are the older sisters; taking care of a younger sister is only proper, isn’t it? Why are you making such a fuss?”
Tang Yunqing took a breath to calm herself: “I really should have asked that Fu to prescribe me some anti-miscarriage medicine. Eat, eat, eat. Both drumsticks are yours. Hope you don’t burst!”
She returned the drumstick An Jing had given her and asked: “Be honest with me. Did you accept this sister out of guilt, or were you overwhelmed by sympathy? Her situation at the Wei family probably isn’t very good, is it?”
An Jing didn’t need to explain her broken engagement back then; Tang Yunqing understood.
But An Jing’s current words and actions—even with her explanation—made no sense to Tang Yunqing. Moreover, An Jing was never one to openly show sympathy.
“You truly are Miss Tang. Nothing escapes your eyes.” An Jing paused, put down her chopsticks, and said seriously: “Yunqing, you are the person I trust the most, and Yinyin is also a very important person to me. As you can see, she’s having a terrible time at the Wei family, not only being treated by Wei Zhengqing as a shameless pawn for political marriage but also suffering physical and mental abuse. What I must do is help her escape that tiger’s den and let her have a free, brand-new life.”
A very important person?
How important? Was she more important than herself, a friend who had supported her through difficult times?
The more Tang Yunqing thought about it, the angrier she got. Overwhelmed by jealousy, she also threw down her chopsticks: “Then why didn’t you just have An Xi marry her? Why accept her as a sister!”
An Jing’s expression changed upon hearing this: “Yinyin, she doesn’t like An Xi. An Xi also has someone he truly likes in his heart.”
“Then what can you do? Wei Zhengqing is her father and has the right to decide his daughter’s marriage. You are an outsider, and a woman at that. Are you going to take her by force?” Tang Yunqing suddenly thought of something, and her expression grew colder: “Or, was your intention in borrowing money from me not for another business, but to negotiate a deal with Wei Zhengqing? To buy Wei Yinxia’s freedom?”
Sensing the sudden anger of her friend, An Jing did not feel awkward even though her true intentions had been exposed. Instead, she smiled, got up, and sat next to Tang Yunqing.
Before falling in love with Wei Yinxia, she hadn’t been completely inexperienced in charming women. After all, Tang Yunqing and her daughter were two women she was willing to coax, even if it meant being humble, shameless, and trying every trick in the book.
When the An family faced misfortune, Tang Yunqing stood by her without hesitation. As the President’s only daughter, her stance, to a certain extent, represented President Tang’s attitude toward the An family.
Aside from wealthy and sinister bosses like Wei Zhengqing, those with less powerful industries than the An family, despite any subtle resentment toward An Jing, couldn’t openly express hostility out of respect for the Tang family.
Tang Yunqing’s support had saved her a lot of trouble.
She was deeply grateful for that.
Raising her hand to hug Tang Yunqing’s shoulder, An Jing looked at her intently, much like a wolfhound who had learned how to beg for affection.
“My dear Yunqing, you’ve seen that Yinyin is a kind-hearted girl. Although she was brought back to the Wei family to be raised, she is not cut from the same cloth as the Wei family.”
Seeing that Tang Yunqing’s expression hadn’t softened, An Jing quickly changed tactics, enacting a subtle drama of suffering: “I won’t hide anything from you. I suffered a gunshot wound a while ago, and it was Yinyin who took me in and nursed me back to health…”
“A gunshot wound?” Tang Yunqing was genuinely alarmed by this and immediately turned, grabbing An Jing’s arms, looking her up and down: “Where were you hurt?”
“Don’t panic. It’s all healed.”
“Don’t try to gloss over it. Where exactly were you wounded? How is the wound healing? Are there any fragments left inside your body? Are there any long-term side effects?” Tang Yunqing peppered her with questions.
“I’m perfectly fine. Nothing is wrong, really, I promise! If you truly don’t believe me,” An Jing glanced around. Seeing no one, she started unbuttoning her shirt. “See for yourself.”
Showing Tang Yunqing the wound was intended to soften Tang Yunqing’s heart and further validate that Wei Yinxia was her “very important person.”
The wound was exposed to Tang Yunqing’s eyes for only a few seconds before An Jing buttoned her shirt back up.
It was the first time Tang Yunqing had seen a wound after a gunshot.
Although the wound was long healed, it still made Tang Yunqing’s eyes well up. She pushed An Jing: “Don’t you check your age? You’re a woman! Why are you trying to be so strong? Can you please stop doing such dangerous things?”
“Soon, I’ll be able to hand over the company to An Xi.” An Jing held Tang Yunqing’s hand. “Yunqing, Yinyin did me a kindness, and I feel indebted to her. Furthermore, we are both women. How can I bear to watch a pure and untainted girl like her become a sacrifice?”
For the first time, Tang Yunqing was looked at with such genuine focus and “affection” by An Jing. Her face flushed slightly, and she didn’t dare to meet her gaze.
She looked away and finally relented, agreeing to An Jing’s plan: “I will help you then.”
“Thank you, Yunqing.”
