Helping My Ex-Wife Find Love Every Day - Chapter 56
Whether it was a rolling pin or a golf club, Qiu Qing Shi was always more bark than bite. Yao Xiang Yi wasn’t afraid of her, but she still put on a decent show.
At least she didn’t put on her CEO airs, after all, she had a favour to ask.
She followed Qiu Qing Shi out of the outpatient building. The garden was empty, and the sky was dim. She pulled Qiu Qing Shi to sit on a long bench by the lawn.
The light from the streetlamp was warm and quiet, shining on their hair, casting shadows on their faces.
“You listen to me first,” Yao Xiang Yi said.
Qiu Qing Shi tightly closed her eyes and covered her ears, performing the Qiong Yao-style, “I’m not listening, I’m not listening, I’m not listening!”
Yao Xiang Yi continued, “Since you don’t trust my interactions with Bai Meng Zhao, why don’t I bring her to Jing Hong Entertainment? With her under your nose, you can keep track of her every move.”
Qiu Qing Shi’s dark eyes glared at her: “All I know is that proximity breeds intimacy. If she comes to Jing Hong Entertainment, it will be more convenient for you two to meet.”
When she was away filming, and came back only to find the ‘Mrs. Yao’ title had changed, who would she cry to?
The more she thought about it, the more outrageous it seemed. Qiu Qing Shi’s cheeks puffed out in anger: “Anyway, we are divorced, you can mess around with whoever you want, it’s none of my business.”
“Why are you bringing up divorce for no reason?” Yao Xiang Yi tugged at the corner of her sleeve. “You are Mrs. Yao. If you don’t manage me, who will?”
Qiu Qing Shi still looked unhappy. She raised her hand to swat at a mosquito buzzing near her eyes, and kept swatting until her palm landed on Yao Xiang Yi’s shoulder, like a cranky toddler who had lost her candy.
Yao Xiang Yi shook out her knitted cardigan and placed it over Qiu Qing Shi’s knees, covering her exposed calves.
Qiu Qing Shi, maintaining her pride, rejected the CEO’s concern: “Take it off.”
“It’ll be unsightly if your legs get bitten by mosquitoes.”
Qiu Qing Shi feared nothing but being ugly. Yao Xiang Yi successfully hit her Achilles’ heel, and she silently wrapped her calves more tightly.
Yao Xiang Yi smiled, finding her adorable, and her gaze softened considerably, almost melting into a pool of spring water.
“I understand your worry. How about this: I’ll transfer Jing Hong Entertainment to your name, and the management rights will also be yours. Let Bai Meng Zhao work for you, and you can be the one to manage her.”
Qiu Qing Shi’s eyes lit up. Jing Hong Entertainment—that was a major company!
She was slightly tempted.
Tallying up the company’s first and second-tier artists, there were over a dozen popular A-listers and quite a few highly recognized B-listers, plus the artists she was currently fostering… If Jing Hong Entertainment truly became hers, she might one day own half the entertainment industry.
“Have you considered it?” Yao Xiang Yi crossed her legs, asking with confidence.
Unexpectedly, Qiu Qing Shi retorted, “You are truly willing to pay a hefty price for Bai Meng Zhao.”
As expected of my little darling from the Yao family, she’s high-level and difficult to deal with.
Yao Xiang Yi’s mind turned quickly: “How about letting Su Ti La be her manager? You must trust Old Su, right? She’s worked with you for eight years and has always been on your side against outsiders.”
Qiu Qing Shi grit her back teeth, trying to maintain the composure expected of the top socialite: “May I ask, CEO Yao, if you have any more excessive demands?”
Not only was Bai Meng Zhao coming to Jing Hong Entertainment, but she also had to share her manager. Wasn’t that clearly asking to share her resources?
Yao Xiang Yi noticed what she was thinking and explained, “All your film and television projects are big-budget productions by major directors, and your endorsements and advertisements are all top-tier luxury brands. People specifically request to collaborate with you. Bai Meng Zhao is a newcomer; who would look her way?”
Qiu Qing Shi felt that her reasoning was sound, but her heart was in turmoil: “…Don’t try to fool me. In any case, she can’t join Jing Hong Entertainment.”
“Just think about it,” Yao Xiang Yi bumped her shoulder gently.
Qiu Qing Shi: I won’t fall for this trap.jpg
Yao Xiang Yi didn’t expect her to agree immediately; she needed a few days to digest the news. She gently grasped her warm, firm chin and pecked her on the mouth: “You are the bigger person, don’t fuss over a little girl. She’s so pitiful—she’s an orphan, chased by debt collectors, universally scorned online, and was drugged…”
As the female lead of a brainless romance novel, Bai Meng Zhao had truly endured the unbearable burdens of life.
Thinking this way, being a supporting character wasn’t so bad. Although the ending was a little tragic, the first half of her life was peaceful and wealthy, with a father, a mother, and an aloof, beautiful, charming wife.
Yao Xiang Yi silently cursed the damn author a few times on Bai Meng Zhao’s behalf.
Qiu Qing Shi, still angry, refused the kiss. Pushing her away, she said, “Not only have you gone a year without sex, you’ve also gone a year without a kiss.”
Then she turned her head and saw Ji Ping Han walking out, accompanied by her driver, heading toward the parking lot.
Ji Ping Han also saw them and instinctively slowed her pace.
As a socialite, Qiu Qing Shi couldn’t possibly let her own wife lose face in front of others. She hooked her arm around Yao Xiang Yi’s neck, pulled her closer, and actively initiated a ‘muah’ kiss.
With this, she delivered a plate of PDA to Ji Ping Han.
Ji Ping Han’s expression was placid, though she seemed to choke on something, lightly coughing twice. Her thin, dry lips were pale for a moment.
The driver nervously said, “Miss, let’s go home now. You shouldn’t stay up too late; you need more rest.”
Ji Ping Han was used to this kind of concern. She was born frail, and her condition had worsened in recent years. She rarely went out unless it was for necessary work or socializing.
If it weren’t for Bai Meng Zhao tonight, she would have taken half a sleeping pill at nine and gone to sleep on time.
“Bai Meng Zhao,” she murmured the name.
The temperature in her eyes dropped to freezing point…
Qin Chun rushed to the hospital wearing a set of loungewear. An hour ago, Yao Xiang Yi had sent her a location showing the Second Municipal Hospital. She didn’t ask for details, assuming something had happened to Yao Xiang Yi, and ran out the door.
She took a taxi straight to the hospital.
Yao Xiang Yi and Qiu Qing Shi saw her step out of the taxi, wearing a pair of pink Raving Rabbit slippers.
Qiu Qing Shi mumbled, “Slippers… so cute.”
Yao Xiang Yi clapped her hands twice, and a crisp echo rang out in the quiet garden.
Qin Chun looked over at the sound and saw Yao Xiang Yi sitting perfectly fine under the streetlamp, comfortably accompanying Qiu Qing Shi while she swatted at mosquitoes—a picture of a CEO spoiling her wife.
Her anxious heart settled down, and she walked over slowly.
“CEO Yao, Madam, did you call for me?”
Yao Xiang Yi said, “Thank you for your hard work,” and then asked, “Where did you buy your slippers?”
“Huh?” Qin Chun was slow to react, awkwardly scratching the back of her head, “I bought them online.”
Yao Xiang Yi said seriously, “Send the link to the Madam.”
Qin Chun: “???”
She was called here late at night just for a slipper link?
“CEO Yao, they’re only a few dozen Yuan. The Madam might not find them comfortable to wear.”
Yao Xiang Yi squinted: “If my baby likes it, we must buy it.”
She then turned to Qiu Qing Shi and said, “We’ll buy it and then throw it away. It still counts as having owned it, as long as you are happy.”
Qin Chun’s eyes were vacant: I can’t imagine the joys of the rich.
Qiu Qing Shi saw through her ploy: Here we go again, the sweet-talk is back.
Qiu Qing Shi tried hard not to be easily appeased as she had been in the past: “I appreciate CEO Yao’s kindness.”
Qin Chun: Gah, a derailment! But why does this feel strangely sweet?
Yao Xiang Yi found her presence bothersome and said, “Go to the emergency room and find Miss Bai Meng Zhao. She’s on an IV drip. Stay with her, and send her home when she’s done.”
Qin Chun could tell she was being sent away. Can’t she show more love to her number-one CP shipper? So heartless! I haven’t gotten enough sweetness yet!
She had no choice but to comply under Yao Xiang Yi’s oppressive influence, leaving with a reluctant glance back.
Yao Xiang Yi made a fist, placed it against her lips, and yawned. A faint shimmer of moisture was visible in the corner of her eye: “I’m sleepy. Let’s go back to the hotel.”
She said “hotel,” not “Half-Mountain Villa,” in a natural tone that didn’t seem deliberate.
Qiu Qing Shi called her thick-skinned. She draped the cardigan over her shoulders, lifted her head high, and walked toward the parking lot as if on a red carpet.
As she walked, she lightly corrected, “CEO Yao, I’m going back to the Linjiang Mansion. You go back to the Half-Mountain Villa. We’ll go to our respective homes and find our respective mothers.”
Yao Xiang Yi didn’t cling to her, instead, she drove her back.
Upon reaching the destination, as Qiu Qing Shi was about to get out of the car, Yao Xiang Yi grabbed her and teased, “No goodnight kiss?”
Qiu Qing Shi made a face at her: “Nyeh nyeh nyeh nyeh~”
Yao Xiang Yi was amused. She parked the car, insisting on walking her upstairs.
The moment Qiu Qing Shi stepped through the front door, Yao Xiang Yi asked, “Are you free tomorrow?”
“No!” Qiu Qing Shi guessed she was thinking about (car play) and ruthlessly cut off her impractical idea.
“The day after tomorrow?”
“Not then either!”
Yao Xiang Yi tapped her foot, as if encountering a difficulty: “I still wanted to go with you to Orange Station to sign the contract.”
Qiu Qing Shi took a step back, turning to face her: “You’re going to join a reality show?”
Qiu Qing Shi was half-skeptical: “You’re not just saying it again, are you?”
Yao Xiang Yi embraced her, letting them feel each other’s strong heartbeat: “When have I ever failed to give in to you in the end?”
Qiu Qing Shi pressed her nose against hers. Her hands were not idle, pinching her firm buttock as a warning: “No good deed goes unpunished.”
“So, do you want me to join?”
Of course she did! Qiu Qing Shi had always dreamed of taking Yao Xiang Yi to flaunt their affection to the whole world, to spite Bai Meng Zhao, and also to spite her phony girlfriends.
After weighing the pros and cons, she sighed and compromised: “Fine. You agree to join the reality show, and I’ll let Bai Meng Zhao join Jing Hong Entertainment.”
Yao Xiang Yi licked her lips, pretending to kiss her to express her excitement and gratitude.
Qiu Qing Shi held up an index finger, pointing at her philtrum, and teased, “I won’t let you kiss me.”
Yao Xiang Yi generously professed her love: “Baby, you’re so good, so understanding, so clever and refined, so reasonable, and so kind-hearted.”
Qiu Qing Shi giggled, trembling in Yao Xiang Yi’s arms, occasionally tweaking her ear, and then her nose.
Qiu Fugui, thirsty from sleeping under the air conditioning, came out of his room to pour some cool boiled water at the bar. He was startled to find someone at the door, realizing Qiu Qing Shi must be back.
He was a little angry. Coming back so late! Playing way too wildly!
He walked over with his hands on his hips. Just two steps away, he suddenly heard a sweet, cooing voice: “Oh, be gentle, you’re hurting me~”
It was clearly Qiu Qing Shi’s voice.
This, this, this… what sort of immoral act are they doing!
Is she fooling around like this just because Yao Xiang Yi isn’t home?
Qiu Fugui was horrified, his old face twitching. He ruffled his Pleasant Goat-style curly perm, quietly slipped off his flip-flops, and clutched them in his hand…
He tiptoed closer to the door, peered out, and sure enough, saw two figures engaged in that kind of activity in the dark corner.
One figure was vaguely recognizable as Qiu Qing Shi. The other was completely hidden in the darkness, her back to him, actively ‘wall-pinning’ Qiu Qing Shi.
This is too damn scandalous!
Qiu Fugui tightened his grip on the flip-flops. Damn it, I’ll smash this rogue to death!
