- Chapter 3 - I Cannot Wait to Start Fanservice
“You better not get any ideas about him,” Gu Nan said, immediately becoming tense. “In private, he is actually very resistant to fanservice. He has to force himself to act every single time. It is fortunate that he has an ‘iceberg’ persona, or he would have been exposed long ago.”
On the screen, Fang Jin watched the intimate interaction between Xie Weishui and Zhou Yang with a cold expression.
Gu Nan continued, “I also have some inside information suggesting that Xie Weishui has wanted to stop working with him for a while now, which is why he sought out Zhou Yang.”
Chi Li was not interested and changed the channel. Once Gu Nan finished introducing the trainees in the Trainee House one by one, Li Ming finally called.
“Come to my office.”
“Xiao Li, what made you change your mind?” Li Ming asked with a smile as he personally poured a cup of tea for Chi Li. “Weren’t you unyielding and ready to die before you would agree to this?”
As the general manager for a large group of trainees, Li Ming naturally knew which candidates would perform best if sent to the Trainee House. With Chi Li’s face, even if he did not intentionally perform fanservice, simply placing him there as a mascot would be a powerful way to attract fans.
Li Ming had wanted to send him there two months ago. However, the boy was stubborn and refused to take the shortcut of the Trainee House, insisting on waiting for a proper stage debut. But now that survival shows were banned, where else in the domestic entertainment industry could one find a high-profile stage? Despite all his persuasion, he could not make the stubborn young man budge. Fearing that forcing him would lead to uncontrollable consequences, Li Ming had temporarily set the idea aside.
He never expected that after only two months, Chi Li would proactively change his mind and ask to perform fanservice. Li Ming truly wanted to buy firecrackers to celebrate.
“I suddenly realized that I was being quite pretentious in the past,” Chi Li said, offering Li Ming an innocent smile.
Chi Li would never admit the real reason. Because Zhou Yang despised fanservice, Chi Li, as his boyfriend, did not want to be associated with anything his partner hated. He would never reveal that he had rejected opportunities for that specific reason.
“Well, there is no need to put it that way,” Li Ming said, looking at Chi Li affectionately. “However, your biggest problem right now is that you do not have a suitable partner for fanservice.”
“I do not care. I want to start as soon as possible,” Chi Li said with a stern face, behaving completely unreasonably.
Li Ming mentally scanned through the roster but still could not find a suitable match. “Alternatively, you could just build good relationships with the people already inside. Selling a ‘bromance’ or friendship is also acceptable.”
“I want to perform fanservice,” Chi Li replied firmly.
Li Ming remained silent. The boy seemed possessed by the idea. However, since Chi Li rarely had such a strong demand, Li Ming was determined to satisfy him.
“Then wait a few days. I will go to other companies to scout someone for you.”
“Fine. Do it as quickly as possible,” Chi Li replied.
Ever since the company capitalized on the popularity of the Trainee House, they had opened their doors for business. Consequently, the house often hosted exchange students from other companies. Gu Nan had explained this to him previously.
“I understand, my young master.”
Leaving Li Ming’s office, Chi Li walked to the elevator and pressed the down button. He planned to return to the lounge to continue watching the Trainee House livestream to get to know his future colleagues in advance.
After a moment, the elevator doors slowly opened. Chi Li instinctively looked inside and saw a single unfamiliar face. The man had the classic look of an actor. He possessed high brow bones, a straight bridge of the nose, and a clean, sharp jawline. He had broad shoulders, a narrow waist, perfect pectoral muscles, and a lean waistline. One could tell at a glance that his body had undergone long-term training, as every inch radiated a sense of restrained power.
“He is a top-tier Alpha type,” Chi Li thought. Those words surfaced uncontrollably in his mind, and his Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed instinctively.
“Are you not coming in?” Shen Xunye asked. He held the door button to prevent the elevator from closing and raised an eyebrow at the slightly dazed Chi Li standing outside.
“Oh, yes,” Chi Li muttered. He cursed himself silently and quickly slipped into the elevator.
He blamed his warped aesthetic on that jerk, Zhou Yang. Seeing a truly handsome man had caused such an impact that he had embarrassed himself. He noted this debt in his mind to settle with Zhou Yang later.
“Which floor? Or are you going to the first floor like me?” Shen Xunye suddenly asked.
“Uh, the third floor.”
Chi Li felt embarrassed again. He added another mark against Zhou Yang’s name. A slender finger pressed the button for the third floor, and the elevator fell into silence.
Chi Li stood diagonally behind Shen Xunye, staring at his broad back and firm waist. Since a handsome man like this was a rare find, he figured he should enjoy the view. Surely he would not be caught from this angle? He thought the physique was perfect and felt a sudden urge to reach out and touch it.
Wait, why did he have to look up? Chi Li was 181.6 centimeters tall and still had to look up. Just how tall was this man?
The elevator reached the third floor smoothly. Although Chi Li felt a sense of regret and was reluctant to leave, he was determined not to embarrass himself a third time. He lowered his head and stepped out.
In the next second, a hand landed on his shoulder. A gentle but irresistible force pulled him back into the elevator car. Chi Li instinctively turned around and nearly crashed into Shen Xunye’s chest.
“Do you have nothing to say to me?” Shen Xunye asked teasingly. He leaned forward slightly, his warm breath brushing against Chi Li’s ear.
Chi Li leaned his head back to create some distance between them. What was he supposed to say? What could he possibly say to a stranger? Should he apologize for staring? He wondered if the man was so possessive of his own good looks that he did not even allow people to look at him. He thought the man was a lunatic and considered insulting him.
Suddenly, a spark of inspiration flashed through Chi Li’s mind. He actually did have something to say. Chi Li reached out and grabbed Shen Xunye’s hand, his eyes filled with eager anticipation.
“Perhaps you would be willing to perform fanservice with me?” Chi Li asked.
“What is fanservice?” The smile on Shen Xunye’s face froze for a second before spreading again. “However, if it is with you, I think I am willing.”
Chi Li thought the man had the air of a playboy. However, that specific demeanor actually made him a perfect partner for fanservice. Chi Li made his decision immediately.
“Follow me to the 15th floor.”
Returning to Li Ming’s office once more, Chi Li presented Shen Xunye to the manager. “He agreed to perform fanservice with me. Make the arrangements.”
Li Ming looked at the man standing before him, his eyes nearly bulging out of his head in shock. He grabbed his phone to message his superior while asking absentmindedly, “Young man, are you voluntarily performing fanservice with him?”
Shen Xunye had come to understand the meaning of fanservice during Chi Li’s fragmented explanation on the way upstairs. He shrugged with an air of indifference. “Of course.”
“Would I lie to you?” Chi Li asked, anxious to finalize the deal. “Hurry up and file the report. I cannot wait to start.”
“You want it that much?” Shen Xunye asked.
“Uh…” Since he had not yet received a reply from his superior, Li Ming did not dare to make the decision on his own. “Do not be in such a hurry. You go down and rest first. I need to speak with this gentleman about the terms of his compensation.”
“Fine,” Chi Li replied.
He knew that outside help required a separate contract, so he did not argue. He poked Shen Xunye’s waist and showed him his contact code. “Add me first. Message me once you are finished talking.”
Shen Xunye followed the instruction. “My name is Shen Xunye.”
“Chi Li.”
