- Chapter 19 - Xie Weishui Is Not Your Kind of Person
Gao Yuan quickly scanned Zhou Yang and then whispered to Chi Li, “Is he talking to you?”
“I have no idea.” Chi Li shook his head, not even bothering to look in Zhou Yang’s direction. “Humans cannot understand what dogs are saying.”
The corners of Shen Xunye’s mouth slowly curled upward.
Damn it, Zhou Yang cursed internally, though he maintained an expression of earnest concern. “I am truly doing this for your own good.”
Chi Li responded with a blatant roll of his eyes.
Shen Xunye, however, acted quite curious. “I am a newcomer too. Why are you only concerned about his well-being? Such obvious favoritism seems a bit improper, does it not?”
Zhou Yang went silent. He desperately wanted to shout the truth at Shen Xunye’s face: Chi Li was his lover for three months!
Even though some unpleasant things happened the night before, a good top does not bicker with a bottom, so he was willing to let it slide. But who was this Shen Xunye? He was a tall, handsome guy moving in on his territory. It was generous enough not to kick him out; why should he get a friendly face?
“Hmm?” Seeing his silence, Shen Xunye tilted his head in mock confusion.
Zhou Yang suppressed his impulse and squeezed out a smile. “Chi Li and I are more familiar with each other, so I want to take extra care of him.”
“Are you not going to take care of your Senior anymore?” Jiang Lele asked as he walked by, a half-smile on his lips.
“Ahem, Senior takes care of me,” Zhou Yang scratched his head uncomfortably. “I suppose I am just inheriting Senior’s noble virtues.”
“If you chat much longer, your Senior’s noble virtues are going to vanish,” Gao Yuan reminded him helpfully.
Zhou Yang froze. Recalling the contents of last night’s meeting, he immediately abandoned his attempt to chat with Chi Li and rushed toward the kitchen.
By the time the dishes were brought to the table, Chi Li and his two companions had already finished their meal. As Chi Li tidied the table to leave the dining room, he noticed that Fang Jin was not among those eating at the other end.
He ducked into the restroom, pulled out his phone, and entered Fang Jin’s personal live-stream channel. Judging by the room’s layout, Fang Jin was in his dormitory. He appeared to be writing music.
Without hesitation, Chi Li switched to the main live stream. As expected, it was broadcasting the other four eating and chatting. The center of their conversation was none other than Fang Jin.
“Should I prepare some food and take it up to Senior Fang?” Zhou Yang asked, his expression appearing slightly worried.
Xie Weishui put on a display of reluctance. “What? He is throwing a tantrum, and we are expected to humble ourselves to coax him?”
Wei Xuan added insult to injury. “Exactly. I think he has forgotten who actually runs this house.”
Jiang Lele threw out the question the audience was dying to know. “Why exactly is he angry?”
Chi Li found this little dialogue amusing. Xie Weishui certainly put a lot of effort into creating dramatic tension. If Chi Li were just a regular viewer, he might actually be sucked in. Unfortunately, he was not.
Chi Li exited the live stream and tucked his phone back into his pocket. After a quiet morning, it was time for some confrontation, or the show would start getting boring. However, it was still too early to push the half-baked fanservice with Shen Xunye. He had to start elsewhere.
For instance, he chose Fang Jin.
Chi Li left the restroom, avoided any potential sightlines from the dining room, and went straight upstairs to Fang Jin’s room.
He tapped gently on the door three times. About thirty seconds later, the door opened from the inside.
“It is you?” Fang Jin’s surprise was evident.
“It is me.” Chi Li flashed a standard professional smile. “I have not seen you all morning. I wanted to check on you. May I come in?”
Fang Jin hesitated for a few seconds before stepping aside to let Chi Li enter. He took a disposable cup, poured some water, and handed it to Chi Li. “I am fine. Thank you for your concern.”
Chi Li took the water and openly scanned the room’s decor. The main color scheme was a cold gray, giving off a detached vibe that kept people at a distance. Yet, the walls were covered with posters of the band Skeleton, known for being wild and savage.
“Actually,” Chi Li said, withdrawing his gaze from the posters and looking at Fang Jin with a sincere tone, “I came to apologize to you.”
Before coming here, Chi Li had already prepared his reasoning. Fang Jin gathered the scattered lyric sheets on the table and asked indifferently, “Apologize for what?”
“That.” Chi Li pointed toward the shopping bag in the corner containing the green hat. “I am truly sorry. I do not actually harbor that much ill will toward you.”
“Then who do you harbor that much ill will toward?” Fang Jin asked reflexively.
“You should be able to tell, right?” Chi Li took a small sip of water before continuing. “It is Zhou Yang and Xie Weishui.”
Fang Jin looked up at the camera on the wall and asked in a low voice, “Did you consider the consequences before saying that?”
Since the era of live-streamed variety shows began, the audience’s tolerance for genuine artists had increased significantly. However, someone who openly stated their dislike for their seniors the moment they joined a show would likely be labeled as having a low emotional quotient. It provided zero benefit for the rest of the filming.
I saw it yesterday! My darling is just someone whose loves and hates are both intense. One should dare to love and hate! Speaking openly is better than stabbing someone in the back. But is this not too disrespectful to his seniors? What seniors? They are just colleagues filming a show. Who actually likes their colleagues? I will defend my darling’s freedom to dislike people!
“I thought you would ask why first,” Chi Li said, leaning back in his chair with a relaxed posture.
“It is not important.”
Fang Jin was indeed curious, but with hundreds of thousands of eyes watching, he wanted to preserve some privacy for Chi Li. Furthermore, liking or disliking someone is highly subjective. He himself felt nothing toward Zhou Yang or Xie Weishui.
Chi Li raised his hand straight up. “I have something I am curious about.”
“Ask then,” Fang Jin replied.
“Why did you not eat with them today?” Chi Li asked with a sincere gaze.
Fang Jin immediately checked the time at the bottom right of his computer screen. This was bad. Xie Weishui would likely be bringing food up any moment now. It would be too abrupt to find an excuse to kick Chi Li out now.
“I had a small conflict with someone,” Fang Jin offered an official explanation, settling his scattered thoughts.
“No matter what the conflict is, I feel that Xie Weishui is not your kind of person.”
Is the topic getting this intense? The spicy guy does not just have a hot body; his temper is hot too. He is just blatantly driving a wedge between them. I am doomed. He is so bad, but why do I not hate him at all? Because he is openly telling everyone he is bad. That is much better than people who pretend to be good while being bad. It is not that complicated. You all are just letting your morals follow his looks. Only I am looking forward to Xie Weishui coming up to deliver food and the three-way confrontation scene.
