Help, My Buff Roommate is Begging to Touch my Abs - Chapter 37
Chapter 37: Hubby comes to see me
The next day, Zhao Yuheng was the first to wake up.
Seeing that his roommates were all still asleep, he didn’t make much noise. Usually, it was Jin Bao’er who bought breakfast for them, but today he wanted to buy it for once.
He climbed down from the bed lightly and softly, when his gaze was suddenly drawn to that splash of brownish-yellow.
On his black-and-white striped single-shoulder bag, there was a slightly obtrusive amulet. It looked a bit strange and didn’t quite match, but in his eyes, it had a kind of rare warmth.
“Childish.”
Zhao Yuheng picked up the amulet with his hand, his fingertips rubbing gently against it. He spoke disdainfully, but in the end, he put the amulet down without paying it any more mind and turned to wash up.
…
On the basketball court, Eldest, Second-eldest, and Zhao Yuheng were shedding sweat; their clothes had long since been soaked through. The basketball jerseys stuck tightly to their abdomens, the silhouettes of their abdominal muscles clearly visible. After playing for so long, the three were still full of energy.
Just then, Second-eldest was dribbling the ball, preparing to rush into the court for a shot, when a player from the opposing team suddenly extended a foot.
“Ah!”
Second-eldest stumbled instantly, his whole body falling heavily to the ground, and the ball flew off the court.
“What the fuck are you doing?”
Before Eldest could react, Zhao Yuheng had already charged forward to help Second-eldest up while cursing at the man who had extended his foot. The man who extended his foot was thin and weak; his dribbling technique was not bad, but no matter how good his technique was, it was useless in the face of absolute strength. Every time he couldn’t dribble in and was frequently blocked by these three, that was why he had suddenly harbored malicious thoughts. But when he saw the three tall, big guys standing together, he panicked instantly.
“Speak to me, you bastard! With such dirty hands and feet, why are you playing basketball?”
Zhao Yuheng shoved the man to the ground. He hated these guys with improper playing styles and dirty hands and feet the most. Damn, just play ball; why use crooked paths? If you’re weak, practice more!
Just then, the man’s teammates hurried over to mediate.
“Get lost, all of you! Whoever tries to mediate, I’ll beat!”
Zhao Yuheng gave them a fierce, menacing glare and then stepped forward to kick the man still sitting on the ground.
“Get lost! Don’t ever play ball with me again in this life, you’re disgusting!”
Although the man was kicked painfully, he was so scared that he hurriedly left with the severe pain. His teammates saw this and, although somewhat embarrassed, didn’t leave. After all, it was a makeshift team, and they weren’t familiar with that person; they only knew he often came to play.
Zhao Yuheng checked the Second-eldest’s injuries and found it was just a scrape.
“Third-eldest, it’s fine, it’s fine.” Second-eldest hurriedly comforted him.
“It’s only because Third-eldest was fast; if it were me, I would have had to kick him a few more times.” Eldest had stood tightly behind Zhao Yuheng just now to back him up. If that bastard had dared to make another move, he would have definitely kicked him flying. Daring to lay a hand on someone from their dorm meant going through him first.
The three played for another hour or so before preparing to return to the dorm to change clothes and shower. Zhao Yuheng was a bit thirsty and planned to go to the convenience store where Jin Bao’er worked part-time to buy a bottle of water.
Just as he was about to enter the door, he saw Hu Xiaowen was there too. Today, Hu Xiaowen had packed some food, and he used his chopsticks to pick up a piece of meat and feed it to Jin Bao’er.
Jin Bao’er took a bite, and his big eyes immediately widened, becoming big and bright: “Damn, this is so good!”
He had just said he wouldn’t eat it, but Hu Xiaowen had forced him to try a bite, and now he couldn’t hold back. He grabbed Hu Xiaowen’s chopsticks and kept stuffing his mouth, until it was puffed out like a gluttonous little hamster.
Zhao Yuheng watched from afar and discovered that when Jin Bao’er was with Hu Xiaowen, his smiles were clearly much more frequent; he seemed more at ease, and the two would burst into laughter every now and then. Listening carefully, it wasn’t about who tripped or who farted, but about who was dating whom. These were all trivial matters in Zhao Yuheng’s eyes; he hadn’t expected them to be able to laugh so happily about them.
“What did you say? Those two are together?”
“Yeah, they kiss in the flower bed at the dorm entrance every night!”
Jin Bao’er exclaimed upon hearing this, hurriedly covering his mouth. Hu Xiaowen added that both of them were guys, and the whole class knew they were together. The two were surprised, happy, and envious, standing in place for several seconds. Afterward, talking about something happy, they laughed from ear to ear.
When Jin Bao’er smiled, his eyes turned into beautiful crescent moons, and two shallow dimples appeared on his face; his whole person was glowing.
Zhao Yuheng stood not far away, and the jawline that had been tense because of the conflict on the court just now softened quietly at this moment. He looked at Jin Bao’er’s carefree, happy, and worry-free appearance. His gaze, which had carried hostility, seemed as if it had been soaked in warm water, becoming moist and soft. An indescribable sense of satisfaction and happiness struck his heart like an electric current.
Zhao Yuheng hadn’t even noticed that the corners of his mouth were rising uncontrollably. The corners of his eyes and brows were stained with a layer of gentle smiles. His whole person exuded a warmth that was completely inconsistent with his rugged appearance. He stood there quietly, as if all the surrounding noise had disappeared. In his eyes, there was only that little person laughing heartily. It seemed that as long as you were happy, this world was pleasing to the eye.
…
“Bao’er, get a bottle of water.”
Zhao Yuheng collected his smiles and turned back into that cool, strong hunk. He stood in front of the two with his hands on his hips, and his unique sweaty scent permeated the air. Hu Xiaowen took a step back quietly. This was his best friend’s crush; he had to keep some distance.
Jin Bao’er hurriedly bent down and took a bottle of mineral water from the ground.
“Want to eat anything? My treat.”
Zhao Yuheng continued to speak. Hu Xiaowen’s eyes lit up; Jin Bao’er’s “silly hubby” was quite generous. So, he unceremoniously took a carton of pure milk and placed it on the checkout counter.
Jin Bao’er: “…”
Zhao Yuheng glanced at it and didn’t say much. His gaze turned to Jin Bao’er: “How about you?”
“I don’t need it, I don’t need it.”
Jin Bao’er hurriedly refused; he had already eaten a lot of Heng-ge’s food, so he felt embarrassed to ask for more.
“Take it.”
Zhao Yuheng didn’t say much and took out his phone to prepare to pay. Jin Bao’er couldn’t insist anymore, so he took a bottle of mineral water.
“Don’t you love drinking orange juice? Take the orange juice.”
Zhao Yuheng frowned.
Jin Bao’er: “…”
When his parents were still alive, his family would buy a large bottle of orange juice as a drink every Lunar New Year, so drinking orange juice meant New Year to him, meant he could get red envelopes. But after his parents passed away, he hadn’t really drunk it much. Therefore, every time he bought a drink, he would always choose orange juice, never expecting that Heng-ge had actually discovered his preference for it.
Seeing Jin Bao’er dilly-dallying, Zhao Yuheng went directly to the counter, grabbed a 1.5-liter bottle of orange juice, and urged him to hurry up and pay.
“Should I take this orange juice back to the dorm for you, or will you drink it here?”
Jin Bao’er smiled awkwardly: “Help me take it back to the dorm.”
Zhao Yuheng nodded. He picked up the mineral water and the orange juice, greeted Hu Xiaowen, and strode away. Jin Bao’er and Hu Xiaowen watched his tall, sturdy back until it disappeared from sight.
“I’m telling you, Jin Bao’er, how did you find such a peerless big ‘top’ (gong)? How come I never encounter one? What a great straight guy!”
“You’ll have one if you date fewer people.”
Hu Xiaowen: “…”
That was correct; Hu Xiaowen often looked for dates online and had met several offline. Because he was good-looking, everyone liked to ask him out. But he just never met anyone he clicked with, and even if there were a few suitable ones, they broke up after only a few days. So, in Jin Bao’er’s eyes, he acted like an experienced person instead.
“Just wait, whatever you have, I’ll have too!”
After Hu Xiaowen finished speaking, he left angrily.
Jin Bao’er was stunned in place. It shouldn’t be anger, right? He was just speaking casually.
Afterward, he began to organize the items on the shelves.
