Chapter 26: Watching Husband Play Basketball
“Girl across the way, look over here…”
“Look over here…”
“The performance here is very exciting…”
Zhao Yuheng was shaking his thick, powerful calves.
While humming a song with a fairly accurate pitch, his roguish appearance looked exceptionally provocative no matter how you looked at it.
Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted Jin Bao’er struggling to use hangers to prop up several pairs of underwear!
They looked a bit familiar.
He quickly stretched his head out, following Jin Bao’er’s movements, and looked toward the bottom of his bed.
Jin Bao’er was neatly hanging those two pairs, the ones still dripping and the ones that had dried a few days ago onto the railing at the foot of his bed!
“What are you doing!”
Although Zhao Yuheng roared fiercely, his earlobes turned red uncontrollably.
Since starting school and learning to avoid suspicion, he had even refused his own mother’s offer to help wash his underwear.
And now, they had actually been… “desecrated” by this kid.
At the time, he had only been thinking about it; now that they were actually washed, he still felt a bit embarrassed.
“I just washed them conveniently, Brother Heng. Just hang your underwear here from now on; it’s easier.”
After Jin Bao’er finished speaking, his head hung very low, like a startled quail, and he quickly burrowed back into his lower bunk.
So embarrassing!
“I hid those boxers in the corner of the drying room; how did you find them? And you brought them all back without missing a single pair?”
Zhao Yuheng asked in bewilderment, his tone carrying a hint of inquiry.
Jin Bao’er: “…”
Could it be that I tell you that since you sway in front of me wearing only a pair of underwear every night, how could I not remember?
Of course, he couldn’t say that; if he did, he’d lose this benefit in the future.
“Because there isn’t a larger size than these on this floor.”
Jin Bao’er spoke with a raspy voice, talking nonsense with a straight face.
“What?!”
“Jin Bao’er, say that one more time!”
“What do you mean your Brother Heng’s size is the largest!!”
The Eldest and the Second were the first to stick their heads out in dissatisfaction.
Zhao Yuheng, however, couldn’t help but let the corners of his mouth turn up frantically, revealing a row of white teeth, his roguish energy fully surfacing.
“Don’t you guys have any self-awareness about your own little capabilities? Do you want to whip them out and compare!”
Eldest: “…”
Second: “…”
Jin Bao’er silently added a finishing blow in his heart.
Good, good.
In the end, the Eldest and the Second looked at Zhao Yuheng’s punch-worthy expression.
Helpless, they could only let the matter drop.
“Gan Jin Bao, I’m telling you, don’t think that just by washing a pair of underwear for me, you can turn the page on things from before. I’m going to remember it for a lifetime; I will definitely not forgive you.”
A man’s low and slightly arrogant voice came from the upper bunk.
These words were like a basin of cold water, ruthlessly splashed onto the hope that Jin Bao’er had just ignited.
He had just thought that maybe helping Brother Heng wash his underwear would ease their relationship; it seemed there was still a long way to go.
But he wouldn’t give up.
…
The next afternoon, there were no classes.
Zhao Yuheng made an appointment with the Eldest and the Second, and they ran toward the playground clutching a basketball.
Watching the three hurried backs, Jin Bao’er thought to himself that since he had to pass the playground to go to the library, how about… he also went and watched Brother Heng play basketball?
To see if there was a chance to coax him.
The sunlight spilled warmly across the entire playground, and the air was filled with the “thump-thump” sound of the basketball hitting the ground.
It was rhythmic, full of hormones and the scent of sweat.
Jin Bao’er stuffed three or four bottles of chilled mineral water into his backpack and came to the edge of the basketball court.
The court was very large; Jin Bao’er searched for a good while before locking onto Zhao Yuheng’s position in the crowd.
He found a step nearby to sit on, his gaze closely following that figure.
Today, Zhao Yuheng was wearing a black basketball uniform, adding to his athletic aura; on his feet was a pair of expensive, limited-edition sneakers.
Naturally, after watching for a long time, Jin Bao’er also thought he was handsome, especially when wearing that on his body.
Because of his height and weight advantage, Zhao Yuheng generally served as the center to grab rebounds.
As long as he stood under the basket, he was like a wall; almost no one could snatch the ball from him.
When opponents played against him, they generally could only choose long-range or mid-range shots.
If they dared to take a mid-range shot in front of him, there was a high probability they would be shut down by a massive “hotpot” (block).
This wasn’t the first time Jin Bao’er had watched Zhao Yuheng play basketball, but every time he watched, there was a different feeling.
Sweat drenched Zhao Yuheng’s buzz cut, his hair sticking to his forehead in distinct strands.
The lines of his biceps and chest muscles, emphasized by his exertion, rose and fell with his movements under the sun, looking exceptionally prominent.
At this moment, an opposing player dribbled the ball rapidly, charging straight for the basket, rushing inside blindly.
Zhao Yuheng’s teammates tried to intercept but failed.
Just as Zhao Yuheng wanted to provide backup defense, another opponent grabbing for the rebound got stuck in front of him.
The person who rushed in jumped violently, wanting to go for a handsome slam dunk over someone.
As a result, because his center of gravity was too far forward and someone was blocking his abdomen, his whole person was like a lever that had lost its balance; his upper body was forward while his lower body was still behind. It looked like he was about to fall tilted, head-first!
And the opponent blocking Zhao Yuheng still had his back to the person rushing in, not noticing this dangerous scene at all.
If he hit the ground for real, it would be a concussion at best, or cervical spine damage at worst.
Zhao Yuheng’s expression tightened; he didn’t have time to think.
Seeing that person’s head about to hit the ground, he pivoted violently, dodging the person in front of him like an agile cheetah. He extended his long arm and steadily gripped the person’s waist.
A massive downward force hit him, yet Zhao Yuheng didn’t move an inch, forcefully lifting the person up.
Only then was the person saved without further incident.
Actually, in Zhao Yuheng’s view, this kind of thing was a subconscious instinct for him, a simple task not worth mentioning.
After standing firmly, the person who was saved quickly grasped Zhao Yuheng’s hand and thanked him repeatedly.
The Eldest and the Second had also been startled just now; now seeing the person saved, their faces also showed a smile of shared pride.
Their Old Third’s style of play was simply beyond reproach.
Although you would definitely be blocked if you shot in front of him, if your center of gravity was already unstable, he would rather let you score than let you get injured for the sake of a block.
“Small matter, we’re all brothers.”
Zhao Yuheng patted the person’s shoulder with a relaxed smile on his face, yet his gaze drifted toward the sidelines as if intentionally or unintentionally.
He didn’t look directly at Jin Bao’er, but the corners of his mouth pulled into a determined arc.
Hmph, that move just now combined both power and skill.
Little one, aren’t you going to be charmed to death?
Jin Bao’er was indeed dazed!
Holy crap, Brother Heng’s rescue move just now was simply exploding with handsomeness!
He just hoisted that tall guy up in one go; his boyfriend-power is off the charts!
How great would it be if the person being held was me!
The most intimate contact between the two had been during the movie last time; that kind of taste was indeed unforgettable.
Under the gaze of those eyes, Zhao Yuheng played even harder, blocking “hotpots” until the opponents questioned their lives.
He even ran outside the half-court line and took a few mid-range shots or three-pointers; his accuracy was terrifyingly high.
This time, he made another beautiful three-pointer.
The moment he landed, he habitually used his peripheral vision to glance in Jin Bao’er’s direction.
This one glance almost made his lungs explode with anger.
He saw Jin Bao’er with his head lowered, his fingers poking rapidly at the phone screen, not giving him a single glance.
Zhao Yuheng’s expression darkened instantly, his thick brows knitting tightly together; that spark of nameless fire “whooshed” up in his heart.
This kid! He’s actually playing on his phone?!
Who was I showing off for just now? Who was I working so hard for?
“Hey!”
Taking a break from the court and panting heavily, Zhao Yuheng strode over to Jin Bao’er with a body full of hot sweat and moisture.
He snatched the phone out of his hand and “slapped” it down onto the steps beside them.
He looked down at Jin Bao’er from above and said fiercely:
“You come to watch me play and you don’t even look properly. Is the phone more handsome than me, or is the game more fun than me? If you don’t like watching, then get the hell back!”
