Green Tea Top Student Falls in Love with Me - Chapter 59
On Saturday, Wen Youren suddenly moved back home. Shi Wangui was the only one there at the time, and she was as shocked as she was ecstatic. Why had Wen Youren returned? Why had Shi Qin agreed to it? And more importantly, why hadn’t Wen Youren told her she was coming back?
Shi Wangui grabbed Wen Youren’s bag and pulled her up to the bedroom. “How did you suddenly come back? Did Shi Qin pull some other trick?”
Wen Youren kept her expression neutral, feigning composure as she said, “It’s nothing. It’s just… just that she is pregnant with a son. He doesn’t have as much time to deal with us anymore.”
Shi Wangui’s grip on Wen Youren’s hand loosened slightly. She gave a self-deprecating laugh. “I suppose that means I really can break ties with him now.”
She hated Shi Qin, but she also hated the idea of the house her mother worked so hard for being completely taken over by another woman especially now that the woman was carrying a child.
Wen Youren knew Shi Qin wouldn’t waste a pawn like Shi Wangui, but she also wanted to find a chance to take her away. “We shouldn’t show our relationship openly for now,” she said. “We’ll leave together later, okay?”
For some reason, Shi Wangui felt a surge of irritability. She loathed Shi Qin so much. She gripped Wen Youren’s hand again. “You really won’t abandon me, will you?”
“I won’t.” Wen Youren squeezed back. “I didn’t before, I won’t now, and I never will in the future. I will stay by your side for a lifetime.”
“I believe you,” Shi Wangui said. Then she asked, “What’s the situation now? Are you returning to No. 1 High? And what about those two?”
Wen Youren explained carefully. “I’m going back to No. 1 High. Since my official records were never moved, it’s an easy transfer. Shi Qin’s condition is that we deny our relationship. To the outside world, we are… sisters.”
Wen Youren hesitated. She was worried Shi Wangui wouldn’t cooperate, and she knew the coming days would be difficult. She was truly afraid.
Shi Wangui only thought for three seconds before saying, “I agree. I’m going to University A too. It’s so far away that by the time we run, no one will be able to find us.”
Wen Youren knew running wouldn’t be that simple. Without real power, it would be too easy for Shi Qin to catch them. “Okay,” she replied.
Shi Wangui’s usual smile returned instantly. “You should keep living in the room next to mine. I’ll sneak in to see you at night. We’ll study together and go to University A together!”
Wen Youren couldn’t help but kiss her. Leaning her head on Shi Wangui’s shoulder, she whispered, “Okay.”
Sounds came from downstairs. Shi Qin had just returned with Wen Yiyue from her prenatal check-up. At four months, her belly wasn’t very prominent, and since she was naturally thin, it was hard to tell she was pregnant unless one looked closely.
Wen Youren patted Shi Wangui’s hand and nodded. “We have to face it sooner or later. Let’s get it over with.” She then led Shi Wangui downstairs.
When Shi Qin saw them, he said, “You’re back. Good.”
Wen Yiyue stroked her stomach, looking at Shi Wangui with a provocative expression. The daughter she used to hate the most had ended up giving her a massive surprise. She found it both disgusting and delightful that Shi Wangui was gay and involved with her own daughter.
After all, if the daughters were sidelined, the Shi family estate would belong entirely to the son in her womb. If those two hadn’t caused such a scandal, she might not have secured her marriage certificate or this pregnancy.
“Wangui,” Wen Yiyue smiled. “I’ll be your mother from now on, and Wen Youren will be your elder sister. You two should support each other and maintain this family together.”
Looking at Wen Yiyue’s face, Shi Wangui wanted to cut it into pieces and sew her mouth shut. She couldn’t even call the unborn child a “bastard” anymore; they were just a bunch of scumbags locked in together.
Wen Youren pulled Shi Wangui back a step, secretly squeezing her hand. “You don’t need to tell her who you are, and she has no right to define who you are,” Wen Youren said to Wen Yiyue.
“Hahaha,” Wen Yiyue laughed. “Don’t forget, I am your mother. I’ve told everyone that my two daughters have a wonderful relationship, just like real sisters. Right?”
There were only the four of them in the living room; the nanny had already left. Shi Qin sat comfortably on the sofa, silently permitting Wen Yiyue’s provocations.
Shi Qin held too many cards. Wen Youren would work for him willingly, and if she failed to provide profit, he still had Shi Wangui to marry off. In a few years, he would have a new heir to raise.
He didn’t care about the girls’ romance as long as they provided value. He would let them play for a few years; eventually, Shi Wangui’s “scandal” would be forgotten or dismissed as gossip. Even without the Zhang family, there would be plenty of other suitors willing to accept her.
Shi Wangui stopped hiding. She stepped in front of Wen Youren. “You aren’t qualified to ask about me. First, it’s a question of whether that child in your belly will even be born. Second, it’s a question of whose blood is actually in its veins.”
“She is your mother,” Shi Qin interrupted. “If I hear you say another word like that, I won’t hesitate to take you out to ‘see the world.’ As for you two, I’ve already announced you are sisters who simply have a close bond. I’ll handle the photos that leaked at school. The rest is up to you. You can either fight me or be obedient.”
Shi Qin and Wen Yiyue left again. Now that the baby’s gender was confirmed, they were going to present the news to the elders. His parents didn’t even know about the marriage certificate yet; now that she was pregnant, it was time to go public.
Sun Yi looked at her books, which had been moved back to their original place, and then at the familiar face sitting in the once-empty seat. “Seriously,” she said, sounding exasperated. “Are you two actually transferring, or are you just touring No. 7 High to see what it looks like?”
“She’s back, and the four of us are together again,” Shi Wangui said. “But there’s something I have to tell you.”
Sun Yi and Wang Hu leaned in. “What is it?”
Shi Wangui and Wen Youren leaned in as well. Shi Wangui whispered, “To the outside world, we are sisters. To the four of us, we are a couple.”
“What?” Sun Yi asked. “Are you two playing at cosplay?”
“It’s because of that idiot,” Shi Wangui grumbled.
After Shi Qin left yesterday, Wen Youren had spent a long time planning with her. They agreed to pretend their relationship was distant and avoid contact as much as possible when the parents were home. Although Shi Wangui didn’t fully understand why they had to pretend to be broken up when Shi Qin already knew the truth, she went along with it. It was better than before.
“I used to hear you curse your father every day,” Sun Yi said. “I thought he was just some flaky businessman. You never mentioned your dad was a real estate tycoon.”
Shi Wangui rarely talked about Shi Qin. When she did, she described him as a man who abandoned his wife and daughter. Sun Yi had assumed he was just a small-time business owner.
“Yeah,” Wang Hu added. “This is a really tough opponent to deal with.”
Shi Wangui didn’t say anything, just toyed with the notebook in front of her. So what if he was an industry giant? He was still a terrible person. Wen Yiyue wouldn’t be the last woman; Shi Wangui was sure of that.
“It’s fine,” Wen Youren said. “As long as we persist, we will succeed.”
She was hiding too much from Shi Wangui—the agreement with Shi Qin, her own plans, and the shifting nature of their future relationship. She hadn’t said a word or consulted her. She worried that Shi Wangui would hate her or be disgusted by her if she found out.
Wen Youren glanced at Shi Wangui out of the corner of her eye. Shi Wangui showed no change in emotion, still lost in thought as she played with the notebook.
“It’s true,” Shi Wangui said. “Time flies. We’ll be choosing our tracks soon. Are you all choosing Liberal Arts or Sciences?”
“Sciences,” Sun Yi said. “Most of the class is choosing Science, so we’ll likely all stay in Class 1.”
“I’m choosing Science too,” Shi Wangui said. “I want to study psychology. What about you?”
“I’m not sure yet,” Sun Yi replied.
“My family is insisting I study Computer Science,” Wang Hu said.
“Wen Youren is studying Auditing,” Shi Wangui noted. “It looks like all four of us might end up in different majors.”
Wen Youren opened her mouth to speak but stopped herself. She couldn’t say anything, or Shi Wangui would realize the truth.
Sun Yi reached out her hand. “Then let’s all work hard together! We’ll try to get into the same university. Even if that’s unlikely, let’s aim for the same city. Let’s go to City A together!”
The other three placed their hands on hers. “Deal!”
The time leading up to the college entrance exams was a blur of activity. They all chose the Science track and remained classmates. The four of them raced against each other academically; while the other three couldn’t quite catch up to Wen Youren, they were all making progress.
The three years of high school passed in a flash. On the day of the exam, they were already planning to run away to City A as soon as it was over. Today, the admission notices arrived. Shi Wangui and Wen Youren had both been accepted to University A. Sun Yi was going to a good university in City A for Accounting, and Wang Hu was staying in their hometown to study Computer Science.
But secrets can only be kept for so long. Shi Wangui had intended to take a photo of her and Wen Youren’s admission letters together. That’s when she saw it: Investment and Financial Management. It wasn’t the Auditing major they had agreed upon.
She was confused. Wen Youren’s grades were more than enough for Auditing, and she had said she wanted to study it. Why was it this? Why Investment and Management?
Shi Wangui was so lost in thought that she didn’t realize Shi Qin had appeared behind her. He picked up Wen Youren’s admission letter and smiled.
“She really is obedient,” he said.
“What are you saying?” Shi Wangui asked. “What do you mean?”
“Don’t you understand?” Shi Qin replied. “Wen Youren said she would study a major beneficial to the company’s development. After she graduates, she’ll work for me and help expand the business.”
He added, “She is much more obedient than you, Shi Wangui.”
