Good Night, Brother! - Chapter 5.4 (R19)
He keyed in the same unchanged password into the electronic lock and stepped into the house. The distinct smell of their family home, mingled with the aroma of food, hit him immediately. Hearing the sound of the front door opening, his mother came out from the kitchen, drying her damp hands on the hem of her apron.
“Mom, we’re here.”
“Oh, you must be tired from the trip.”
“Not really. It only took an hour by KTX.”
“Go ahead and sit at the dining table. Let’s eat.”
Eun Hyun and Ji Hyeon placed their bags in a corner and made their way to the kitchen. Their mother called out toward the closed master bedroom door.
“Honey, the boys are here. Come out.”
“What’s Dad doing in there?”
“Oh, he was in his underwear just now. When I let you in, he went to put on some clothes.”
“What? It’s still chilly. Wasn’t he cold?”
“You know how your dad is always running hot.”
Before long, their father emerged from the room, looking embarrassed as he scolded her for sharing such details with the kids.
Gathered around the dining table, laden with dishes of their favorite foods, the family enjoyed their meal together. Their mother, as always, urged them to eat a little more, resulting in playful back-and-forth protests about being too full.
After the meal, they sat together, sipping hand-dripped coffee their father had recently learned to make through a workplace club. The conversation shifted to lighthearted, mundane topics when Eun Hyun’s phone vibrated.
“Hold on, work’s calling. Let me step out for a bit,” he muttered to himself as he left the room, wondering why his company would contact him on a Saturday.
As silence fell over the table, their mother hesitated before speaking.
“So, Ji Hyeon.”
“Yes?”
“Is Eun Hyun having a hard time at work these days?”
“Hmm… He’s been working late a lot recently.”
“That must be it.”
“Why do you ask?”
“Well, he called me out of the blue yesterday, saying he missed me, and started crying his eyes out.”
“Really?”
So that’s why. Ji Hyeon couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief. Just then, Eun Hyun returned from his call.
“What were you talking about?”
“Just badmouthing you, why?”
“Hey, come on…”
Eun Hyun pouted at their mother’s teasing remark.
Their father stood up, placing a hand on Ji Hyeon’s shoulder.
“Ji Hyeon, since you’re home, let’s play a game of Go.”
“Sure, Dad.”
Eun Hyun chimed in with a mock complaint.
“A game? You mean three games. He won’t let you off after just one.”
“One game is too little. Come on, make it worthwhile.”
Their father chuckled, pushing up his square-framed glasses, the wrinkles around his eyes deepening with amusement.
“Eun Hyun, you’re coming with me to the backyard to gather some mugwort.”
“Mugwort? Why?”
“Your brother loves mugwort rice cakes. If not now, when else will he get to eat them?”
Grumbling about the chore, Eun Hyun eventually picked up a plastic basket and followed their mother to the backyard.
His mother crouched down, showing him a tender mugwort leaf, its distinct fragrance wafting up as she plucked it.
“These. See? You want the soft ones, or they’ll be too tough to eat.”
Perhaps because their relationship had softened over time, Eun Hyun suddenly voiced a question he had always been curious about.
“Mom, why did you decide to adopt Ji Hyeon?”
“Oh, honestly, you’re asking this now? All grown up, and you bring this up?” she replied, still focused on picking mugwort.
“Well, it’s not like you’re blood-related.”
“True enough…” She let out a deep sigh.
“But his circumstances were heartbreaking. Before we even thought about it, seeing him at the funeral in mourning clothes with an armband, it just felt right. The boy didn’t cry, didn’t speak, and looked so lost… Your dad and I talked that night and decided to take him in.”
“Wait, you were the one to suggest it first?”
Her words left him stunned as she nodded, her profile illuminated by the golden afternoon light
The mattress undulated as Yi Hyeon casually mounted the back of Eunhyun’s thighs like a horse. Eunhyun could feel Yi Hyeon’s firmly erect penis through his trousers against his smooth, white thighs.
“Haa! Ah….”
Suddenly, the hard shaft of his cock rubbed against his darkly shadowed groin, even though it was wrapped in the softness of Lee Hyun’s pajama bottoms. Eun Hyun’s back arched so that his erector pecs were fully engaged, and he cried out in a low, urgent voice.
Hmph… don’t…! Are you crazy…?”
“How can you not go crazy after seeing me like this….”
Yi Hyeon replied, licking his lips as he stared at his brother’s immaculate arse and the wet, glistening area between his legs. Eunhyun turned his head to look at Yi Hyeon’s face and asked.
“You, you… aren’t you even ashamed of your parents for doing this to me?”
There were actually two reasons why Eunhyun had come down here with Yi Hyeon.
Ostensibly, her mother wanted to bring the family together after a long absence, but she also hoped Yi Hyeon would see for himself the roles he and Eunhyun played in the family and reconsider their inappropriate relationship.
Surely, they appeared to be a harmonious family during the day.
Eunhyun stopped moving at his brother’s words, tilted his head to the side, and frowned weakly. He looked pensive for a moment. Eunhyun held his breath, waiting for an answer, but then the question came back to him.
“Bro, I’m sorry if I don’t understand, but… why should I be ashamed?”
“……What?”
“Why should I be ashamed of liking someone?”
“…….”
“I don’t think so.”
Stunned, Eun Hyun was completely at a loss for words. She had never understood Yi Hyeon well to begin with, but she had never felt such a cosmic gap in thinking as she did in this moment. Lee Hyun continued with a nonchalant face.
